Terra is tough, stalwart, and able to crowd control and escape in a pinch. In arena's fast-paced, repetitive combat, her long cooldowns early and her lack of utility in the open-space battling pit make her weak healing power stronger.
Terra begins her build by immediately purchasing Shoes of Focus and one of the four optimal relics(I personally use meditation cloak to start) before rushing to the Mana Camp to begin the team's early game. Terra should stay in the fray, constantly beating the enemy minions down and pushing them away with aggressive use of her Crushing Earth on cooldown, stunning but not always engaging. Recalling is not an option; Terra only returns when she has more than 2500 gold currently on-hand and should not go back to base if she cannot afford the next item entirely unless in dire need of health or mana.
Her second item should always be a Lotus Crown. Buffing the team's defenses by 20 each when healed, her Obelisk stays up long enough that the buff will expire only a couple seconds before a new obelisk is available in the early game, with an endgame cooldown reduction making the buff constant.
The third item, Celestial Legion Helm, should be purchased if the game is relatively even or your team is falling behind. In a manner similar to the Lotus Crown, a buff for power will be applied to your team when they remain in your Obelisk's healing and for five seconds after the expiration. Late-game, this can become negligible, allowing the Celestial to be replaced after a full build (if the game has not yet ended) for a Chronos' Pendant or substituted entirely. A Chronos' will ensure a longer uptime of the Lotus Crown buff and more of your Crushing Earth and Force of Nature for engage and escape, along with more aggression against the enemy team.
Terra's fourth item should be a Breastplate of Valor. The boost to mana, cooldown reduction, and strong physical reduction allow Terra to stay in the fight longer, use her Obelisk longer, and keep the team alive longer. If you are taking a beating too often from aggressive enemy team behavior, Valor can be bought third instead of fourth, with Celestial/Chronos' taking the fourth item slot.
Terra has a strong amount of flexibility for her fifth item. Sovereignty creates a stronger team physical defense and can be useful if there are more than one hunter, constant assassin harassment, or an overhaul of physical power on the enemy team. Heartward Amulet, on the other hand, is useful if there is an excess of magical damage, such as multiple mages or aggressive guardians. If the enemy team is well-balanced or you are far ahead, a Gauntlet of Thebes creates the median defense without any HP5 or MP5 regeneration.
For Terra's sixth item, a Stone of Binding is incredibly useful. If Terra uses her Force of Nature into her Obelisk and roots enemies nearby or crushes an opponent with her Crushing Earth, allies can gain a penetration buff temporarily. This allows the crowd control to be applied and gives your team the extra push needed to burn down their HP before they get a chance to escape.
For Relics, Terra should use any combination of Meditation Cloak, Horrific Emblem, Shield of Thorns, and Bracer of Undoing. Meditation Cloak can be useful, especially early on, with restoring team health and mana in a pinch, including Terra's. Horrific Emblem slows and reduces the damage of the enemy team, increasing your chances of landing stuns with your Crushing Earth or roots with Force of Nature into Obelisk. Shield of Thorns allows Terra to stay in the line of fire of her Obelisk, keeping it safe while returning damage to attackers and restoring her own health in the process. Bracer of undoing allows a reduction of all cooldowns with every use, allowing more uptime for Terra's Ultimate and her Obelisk.
