Xbalanque at a glance

Xbalanque is best played as an Assassin. This is because if you play him right, people have a tendency to get intimidated by you and either run, get a teammate, or engage if they know they can take you. All of which are less than ideal actions for them to take for your sake. This build is based on catching people and finishing the job as early as possible

Pros

-deals tons of damage
-if played properly is very strong early and late game
-can kill and level very quickly if played right.
-Amazing ganker
-Rising Jaguar is an amazing finisher
-Has a decent escape in rising jaguar

Cons

- Squishy
- Often won't be able to make full use of focus capacity
-should not initiate face-to-face unless fed or against someone that you can definately finish

Build

Soul Eater
Soul eater gives stats that Xbalanque needs desperately: lifesteal, attack speed, and focus. The first two serve a fairly obvious purpose in that they give health sustain, the attack speed also synergizes with branching bola's extra damage. The focus also helps the slow of his poison darts, which can be useful.

However, if you find that movement speed is more conducive to your survival, you should consider swapping Soul eater's place with Warrior Tabi's.

Meditation This is more or less optional. It's definately good sustain so that Branching Bola can be better exploited, but it IS an ability slot after all. You may consider playing more conservatively on branching bolas and buying MP5 or mana pots instead.

Warror Tabi
Standard issue AD boots, no real need to explain this one.

Executioner
Attack speed, penetration, and power, What's not to like?

Rage
Cornerstone of this build. Makes crits come extremely often with the stacking attack speed, makes you a better finisher and even initiator if you're evenly matched or above.

Qin's Blades
More standard issue. Max HP damage Proc, attack speed, damage, HP, useful in general.

Deathbringer
High Power contribution, crit chance, and most importantly, takes full advantage of the crits that you are landing.

You may also consider getting deathbringer before Qin's blades

Skills

Passive:Dead of Night
Any enemy gods that Xbalanque kills while Darkest of Nights is active increases his physical power by 5 permanently, maxing out at 30 additional physical power.

Branching Bola
When XBalanque toggles on this ability, his basic attacks deal an additional 10/20/30/40/50 physical damage. When the bola hits, it splits into 2 that hit enemies up to 30 hooves behind the target for 30% damage (on-hit effects do not apply). Right clicking cancels the toggle.

Cost: 11/13/15/17/19 mana per shot.

Basic ability that grants +10 physical power per level, as well as splash damage to minion lines, and branches in an angle to more spread out enemies. However, it will often just be used when you need to push a little extra damage in. though mind your mana when using it, it can make you quite mana-hungry.

Poison Darts
Shoots in a fan, and needs a little coordination on your part in knowing where the 10 darts land. A passable DoT and a slow that needs Focus to be worth it. Starting at 3% going up to 40%
XBalanque shoots 10 darts in a cone in front of him, dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+40% of your physical power) physical damage. An enemy can be hit by 3 darts, with the other 2 doing 30% damage. Enemies hit are poisoned for 3s, taking an additional 10/15/20/25/30 (+20% of your physical power) physical damage every .5s and are slowed by 3/6/9/12/15%, increasing with Focus up to 40%.

Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana.

Cooldown: 18/17/16/14/14s.

Rising Jaguar
This is your main escape. It is also a strong finisher AND initiator. Just be sure to use it as a follow up to darts. Remember that it hits anyone in its path, so it is very useful for catching a near-death opponent.
Xbalanque rushes forward and then jumps into the air. While in the air, he fires darts at all nearby enemies, dealing 80/130/180/230/280 (+40% of your physical power) physical damage. Any enemies that were poisoned by Xbalanque take 50% more damage.

Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana.

Cooldown: 16s.

Darkest of nights
Xbalanque shrouds enemies in darkness for 3s. During this time, Xbalanque’s basic attack range is increased by 40 ft and his movement speed is increased by 20/30/40/50/60%, increasing with Focus up to 100%. At the end of the darkness, any enemy gods moving at the time are stunned for 1.5s, increasing with Focus up to 3s.

Cost: 100 mana.

Cooldown: 90s.

A high-utility global ultimate. This is to be used when your target is at half health or lower, if you have a large advantage over your target, an initiator for teamfights and ganks, and escaping in a pinch. Sometimes, you will find yourself just activating it before you score the last hit on an enemy for the 5 physical power. This is normal. Just weigh your options so you can use it when you need it. Just don't pop the first one when you're about to get ganked, as the first activation of the match causes severe lag.

Rejected items

The following items are options I have ruled out.

Frostbound hammer
Looks enticing, but not worth removing any part of the current kit due to no AS or crit chance

Eye of Retaliation
No. Bad. Too squishy to make good use of it.

Voidblade
Much like FBH, a glass cannon is just a better use of his abilities

Heartseeker
He has good farm, but crits are a little more important, as is lifesteal. No item can really leave for it.

devourer's gloves

Soul eater gives better lifesteal and gives attack speed. The physical power isn't quite worth it when you're combining crits and attack speed.

Summary

Play Xbalanque like a true hunter. Catch your opponents off quard and get the job done. You can also sometimes engage in multiple combat if you have an advantage, just be sure to focus one at a time and run off after the first kill unless you're sure you can finish off the second. If you play it right, you'll be killing people left and right. Happy Hunting!

I find devourers glove get the job done quite well. What if yu gank but dont kill them. Yu need some survivability. Soul eater will not survice if yur going life steal yu need more than one life steal item. also the stacks on DG for atk pw is to amazing to pass. 20 life steal and 20 atk. Added onto the stats already on DG.
