Druid Form Abilities

DRUID FORM
Energy Surge
Artio pulses out a strong wave of energy that damages enemies. She will heal herself and allies within 55 units for each enemy god hit by this Ability.
  • Damage: (70/100/130/160/190 +35% of your Magical Power)
  • Heal: (40/60/80/100/120 + 20% of your Magical Power)
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 12s
Energy Surge has a decent Self & Team Heal and a fair amount of damage as well. Due to the mechanics of this ability, Artio and her Allies will only receive the Heal if the ability damages an Enemy God. Due to the inconsistency of Healing within this ability, it is recommended to use it after Stunning the Enemy with Ferocious Roar or Rooting them with Life Tap. This ensures that Artio will be able to heal both herself, and her allies. Energy Surge is also commonly used to clear waves of Minions. Because of the abilities wide Cone, it is recommended to move to the side of wave before casting.

Entangling Vines
Artio creates a thicket of vines around herself that Cripples enemy Gods and decreases their Magical or Physical Power as long as they are in the area.
  • Druid Area Duration: 4/4.5/5/5.5/6s
  • Druid Power Debuff: 5/10/15/20/25%
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 14s
Entangling Vines is a great tool to keep Gods close who utilize Dashes, Leaps, and Teleports i.e. Bastet. Besides Crippling the Enemy, Entangling Vines decreases the Magical and Physical power of Gods within the radius. This ability is best used after Artio has already engaged in Combat. This ability remains active on Artio even when switching to Bear Form.

Life Tap
Artio channels for 2s, draining the life from enemies. While channeling she deals damage up to 5 times and heals herself up to 5 times. Each hit increasingly Slows. Enemies hit all 5 times are Rooted for 1s.
  • Damage: (15/25/35/45/55 +10% of your Magical Power)
  • Heal: (10/15/20/25/30 +5% of your Magical Power)
  • Druid Slow Per Stack: 10%
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 15s
Life Tap is one of Artios more vital abilities. This ability deals a small amount of damage while slightly Healing Artio. Besides that, each successful hit deals increasing slows, and upon dealing all 5 hits the Enemy is Rooted. Life Tap will allow Artio to effectively keep running Enemies close to her, and lock them down with more CC, such as Ferocious Roar.

Shapeshift
Active: Artio Shapeshifts between her Druid stance and Bear stance.
Passive: Every time Artio hits an enemy with her Abilities, she becomes invigorated, increasing her Movement Speed and MP5 by 5 per stack. Stacks up to 8 times and stacks last 4s.
  • Movement Speed Per Stack: 1/1/2/2/3
  • MP5 Per Stack: 2/4/6/8/10
  • Cost: None
  • Cooldown: 1s

Bear Form Abilities

BEAR FORM
Maul Prey
Artio slashes twice with her claws, damaging enemies with each swipe.
  • Damage: (40/70/100/130/160 + 30% of your Magical Power)
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 12s
Maul Prey is Artio's main damage ability, that can certainly brutalize the Enemy throughout all stages of the Match. It is often used after Ferocious Roar or Life Tap to ensure both swipes get off on the Enemy. Much like Energy Surge, with the wide range on Maul Prey, it makes a great clearing tool.

Ferocious Roar
Artio lets out a ferocious roar that Stuns all nearby enemies and increases her own Physical and Magical Protections for 4s.
  • Bear Stun Duration: 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4
  • Bear Protection Buff: 10/15/20/25/30
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 14s
Ferocious Roar is another vital tool within Artio's kit. Although the scaling on both the Stun, and the Protections Buff are poor, this ability is crucial for Artio to chain together her other abilities. Not only is it her main lockdown ability, but it also serves as a great tool for Allies who need help peeling i.e. Artemis or Ra.

Heavy Charge
Artio charges forward at an increased Movement Speed for 3s. Enemies she charges through take damage and are Slowed for 2s.
  • Damage: (70/120/170/220/270 +50% of your Magical Power)
  • Bear Slow: 10/15/20/25/30%
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 15s
Heavy Charge is quite the beast of abilities, and sure does live up to its name. This ability is Artio's main Initiator, and Escape, and deals a decent chunk of damage while Slowing any enemies the ability charges through. As mentioned earlier, this ability is best used when Initiating, and Escaping; however, it is crucial to charge through the Enemies when doing so to get the Damage and Slow off.

Possible Combos

POSSIBLE COMBOS
Easy Heal-Up
(EASY)

This combos is a quick way for Artio to Heal-Up while dealing some damage. Initiate on an Enemy with Life Tap. Once the Enemy is Rooted, use Energy Surge. The next part is optional, but use Ferocious Roar to Stun the Enemy, and charge through them with Heavy Charge to Escape. In total, the initial combo will give Artio a max base of 290 Healing before taking the Magical Power Percentage into effect.

Quick Poke
(EASY)

This combo is a quick way for Artio to assert a bit of Poke. By charging in with Heavy Charge, you will Damage and Slow all enemies you hit. From there, use Ferocious Roar to Stun the surrounding Enemies. This will give your team some time to catch-up to the fight. Lastly, you will use Maul Prey to Poke out the Enemy. While this combo effectively Pokes the Enemy, it leaves Artio in a vulnerable position due to Heavy Charge being on Cooldown.

Lane Enforcer
(MEDIUM)

This combo utilizes all of Artio's abilities to make her presence known. Charge in with Heavy Charge, again, be sure to be charging through the Enemies to make the most of the ability. Use Ferocious Roar to Stun and keep the Enemies in place. then use Maul Prey to keep the pressure. Next you will Shapeshift into Druid Form, and use Entangling Vines to ensure the Enemy doesn't Dash, Leap or Teleport away from you. Now use Life Tap to Slow and Heal, then use Energy Surge to hopefully finish them off. By this time Heavy Charge will most likely be off Cooldown, from there you can do one of two things. You can either chase the Enemy further and confirm the Kill or use it to dash away to safety.

Total Lockdown
(HARD)

This is one of Artio's hardest combos, but when done, it will totally lockdown the Enemy. First, you charge in with Heavy Charge, then you're going to Shapeshift to go into Druid Form and use Entangling Vines early to make sure they can't get away. While Entangling Vines is active, use Life Tap to slow the Enemy down and hopefully Root. Next use Energy Surge to get a quick Self and Team Heal. Use Shapeshift to back to Bear Form, and use Ferocious Roar to stall the enemy even further. Lastly, use Maul Prey to confirm the kill or weaken the Enemy further. Much like the last combo, by this time, a majority of the Abilities you already used will be off Cooldown. If that's the case, and if Mana allows, you can roll through the combo again, or escape to safety with Heavy Charge.

Shogun's Kusari shows it's best use when you are Supporting High Attack Speed Gods i.e. Ah Muzen Cab, Chronos, Kali. This item allows Artio to increase the Attack Speed of her Allies by 25%. They're just in there as "viable" options; I mostly use Magic Shell and Horrific Emblem. AND Purification Beads is not a bad choice for Artio. She is a very "in your face" type of Goddess, and getting locked down by CC (especially after her fair share of nerfs) almost always calls for disaster.

Kriega1 (143) | July 6, 2018 9:56am
If you're getting locked down by CC get Spirit Robe, Mantle of Discord or Magi's Cloak.

Also consider this as an alternative start (for conquest): Guardian's Blessing, Chalice of Healing, Chalice of the Oracle.

Chalice of the Oracle is useful to quickly and safely put early wards around enemy mid tower/red buff (to check enemy jungler's early game path if they're looking for an early duo lane gank) and quickly recall to base to get replenished wards and head to lane, and when I mean quick I mean quick, and try not to be seen.

Also consider items like Gauntlet of Thebes, Sovereignty and Heartward Amulet.

Great guide! The coding and layout is great, the information is... well... informative, and I can tell that you put a lot of work into this. You did a really nice job overall.

The only input I could make is that I think Oni Hunter's Garb is a strong item on Artio. A lot of people sleep on that item.
2
Drexler (9) | October 19, 2017 9:09am
Sorry for the serious late reply on this. I agree with you that Oni Hunter's Garb is a good option on Artio; it's even included in her "Official Smite's God Reveal Video"; however, it does have it's issue. The health is great, the protections are great, and the MP5 and CCR are just bonus', but the item requires a couple of moving parts for it to work.

1) Deal Damage to an Enemy God
2) At least 2 Enemy Gods within 55 units

After this, THEN you can get 20% damage mitigation every 60s.

For the conditions that need to met, and the lengthy cooldown on the items Passive, I feel there are far more superior options than this item, such as Shogun's Kusari (if with an AA ADC).

So far as a guide structure itself is amazing well organized good amounts of BBcoding but not excessive amounts of it that's good. The explanation for abilities and items are nice and well explained. Even showing multiple ability combos is good there are few guides that include it.

The only issue I have with this guide is missing one important thing for items. You explained why you should build the items, but you don't explain when should you build these items. This is important for guides that you explaining when you should get these specific items helps readers a lot. If you could possibly can explain why did you pick those specific relics. Relics could be game changers and help explaining those would help a lot.

That's all I have to say about this guide I can't say anything about Artio herself because I barely played her so I don't know how you suppose to play her.

Drexler (9) | September 5, 2017 6:04am
Thank you Overld for taking a look the Guide, I really appreciate your feedback! I agree with you that I should include when to build items...I will work on this along with the Relics you mentioned. Now looking at the Guide, I guess I sort of did just brush off Relics.

Thank you again!

Further comments, but TL;DR this is much more complete, +1.
  • You talk about Energy Surge being inconsistent (of a type). I'm assuming you're referring to actually connecting. This is a fairly generous cone...it doesn't seem like it's that difficult to hit...? That said, I can see how you can better heal nearby teammates, as if you've stunned them, it gives teammates a chance to close in.

  • Per other comment about Genji's, you can talk about how you can use Entangling Vines and then switch to Bear form and continue to fight with it still active. Basically, it persists between both forms.

  • Is Heavy Charge really an initiator? I know it's absolutely an escape, but I'd personally be hesitant to use it for initiation, unless I was 100% sure of being safe. Rather, if I were to point out another use, it would be chase potential. I do see it's in 3 of your 4 combos as an initiator.

  • I like your improved organization of items.
1
Drexler (9) | August 25, 2017 11:56am
  • Energy Surge ~ By inconsistent, I'm referring to the Team Healing aspect of it. It's not an incredibly tough skill to hit, but two things need to happen for it to trigger the Team Heal, which is why I referred to it as inconsistent. I will look at this description, and see how I can word it to better to clarify what I mean.

  • Entangling Vines ~ I will add comments on how it remains active even after using Shapeshift.

  • Heavy Charge ~ It is absolutely a viable initiator. If Artio wasn't a true Stance Switcher, I wouldn't recommend it though. By the numbers, it is her hardest hitting skill, and having the slow on the enemy at the beginning of the fight certainly helps. I typically cancel the dash once I hit the enemy, and immediately use Ferocious Roar. Maybe it's not so much of an initiator in the early stages of the match due to it's base cooldown of 15s, but 9/10 times, the fight will typically last longer than the cooldown. With that being said, if you build the Max CDR; you can get Heavy Charge to 9s, which is a short enough cooldown for you to come back to it as an escape if needed. As for chase, it's absolutely a chaser too. I think I mentioned using it to secure kills somewhere (don't quote me on it though).

  • Improved Item Sections ~ I like it, but I think I can add more. I was thinking of doing a Horizontal Table of Contents just for the Item Categories so people can bounce from category to category easily.

Thank you for the +1, I really appreciate it!
1
Branmuffin17 (394) | August 25, 2017 12:01pm
Alright, I can see its use...I just always hesitate in using my only escape at the beginning, but your reasons are solid. FYI, the hardest hitting ability is likely Maul Prey (as long as you hit both) unless you build lots of power to have Heavy Charge beat it out due to scaling.

Looking great! Just being nitpicky here but reading through there are a few minor misspellings/sentence confusions. Will outline below.

Energy Surge- "...Self & Team Heal with a fair damage as well."- Not sure if the A is supposed to be there or missing the word amount.
"...Allies will only receive the Heal if the ability damages and Enemy God"- an instead of and Enemy God.

"...This ensures that Artio will be able to heal bother herself"- change bother to both.

Life Tap- "...Slows the Enemy by the 10%"- take out the perhaps

Maul Prey- "brutalize the Enemy throughout all stages of Match"= Add the after of.
"... it makes great clearing tool"- add a after makes

Heavy Charge- "...and sure does it live up to its name."- Remove "it"
"...As mentioned this earlier"- Remove "this"

Lane enforcer combo- "...Use Ferocious Roar to to Stun"- take out one "to"
"... use Entangling Vines to ensure the Enemy does Dash, Leap or Teleport away from you"- Change "does" to "does not"

Reinforced Shoes- "...it will allow her to gain up to +18 Physical and Magical Protections when taking damage"- I would specify God damage.

Breastplate of Valor- "...and allow her to have her to keep her Mana Supply intact,"- confusing to read.

Void Stone- "...because, t it will allow her damage"- Extra "t" in there.

Hide of the Urchin- "... while giving her a decent Mixed Protections"- Add amount or remove "a"

Pestilience- "Pestilence is an cheap and effective"- Should be a not an

That's all I have now. Nit picking stuff but stuff you might miss even after reading through numerous times. I know I miss stuff like that on my guides! Anyways, not trying to be an ******* in pointing out these things. Just thought you would like to know.

+1 from me.

Wow damn, this is a really nice looking guide! The layout is great, the Pros Cons section is beautiful, spacing is nice on the eyes, etc.

Comments:
  • You title this as a general guide, and I mean, for me it's obvious that you're gearing this for Support role...but giving more specific titles about mode, role, etc., would be helpful overall.

  • Just preference, but I never read the "who is" type of chapter...it's just copying the writeup for her from the main Smite source.

  • In this case, the same goes for items. Right now, I can get the exact same information in her tooltips or looking at the skills themselves. I would suggest, like you do with item choices, that you write some additional information on the ability...tips for use, etc.

  • Combos section: you do title them and label them regarding difficulty...but a bit of writeup for when to use and what they do for you (or other thoughts) would be nice...otherwise, it's almost like...okay, I'm a beginner, so should I only attempt to use the first 2 combos?

  • Your general writeups on the items are great. Minor comment on Jade Emperor's Crown...you say it gives her more sustain in lane. To me, sustain is a term used specifically for continued play in lane...specifically health/mana regen, lifesteal, and HP5/MP5..things that give you back something that is lost. It might mean something different to you, though.

  • Note that Reinforced Shoes provides 18 physical and magical protections at max stacks, not 30. I have doubts that your "aggressive start" is a good one for a support...just way, way too difficult to pass up Watcher's Gift, honestly. Also, I think Bumba's Mask would be another good combo with Watcher's, depending.

  • If you're mostly unconvinced of Lotus Crown's use, you might consider just dropping it altogether. The situational buff is nice, but I think there are easily many better options for her, as it seems you think as well. I would almost think Rod of Asclepius would fall under the same category...limited use for teammates. You say it will "tremendously increase" the effectiveness of her healing abilities...at max, it's a 20% increase, which isn't bad, but, and I know this was released before the new 4.16 patch, some of her healing is getting a nerf, and it's not a huge amount to begin. 140 base for Energy Surge + 20% (in combat) = 168. 175 base for Life Tap + 20% (in combat) IF you hit all 5 = 210. Not bad...but also not an enormous amount...and significantly less if she faces any anti-heal, which is likely to happen between Divine Ruin, Brawler's Beat Stick, or Pestilence. My opinion, of course.

  • Other items that she'd find great use from... Breastplate of Valor, for one, and you should list more counter-items in a Support role...Nemean, Midgardian, Pest, etc. are all useful in specific circumstances. Yes, she has a lot of tools in her kit, but items can help even more with countering.

  • Finally, build order...the way you write it, you have Void Stone as a solid 2nd. This shouldn't always be the case. If you're facing a defensive magical Support and an aggressive physical ADC, either Stone of Binding or Jade Emperor's Crown really should be considered first...and Stone should probably only be considered if you have an even or advantageous matchup for the early game, and your ADC is relatively strong early. Void Stone is fine 2nd if you decide to use Artio with a magical ADC, and more especially if you're facing a magical ADC to begin.

Granted, I don't play Artio, so maybe she just really, really wants to be aggressive early...but as Support, it's just not what I would do unless it also helped my teammates at that early position.

Jade 4th (if you do choose to get the bridge) seems a bit late, if you decide to go with that. Getting it earlier really shuts down an ADC's damage at that stage of the game. It gets less and less effective the further along the game goes, because items are greatly increasing power, which, mathematically, decreases the % reduction Jade provides.
Anyway, this is a great start. Would like to see this guide grow. Will reserve a vote for when some additions/changes are implemented...if you disagree with my comments, would love to hear your thoughts...again, I'm not an Artio player as of yet, so I'm speaking from a theoretical, bookish standpoint.

Hey Bran ~ Thank you for your comment and input, I will try my best to go point by point and answers the questions you had and give my input on any of your comments.
  • I made the title “General” because I didn’t want to have the guide geared towards a specific Game-Mode or Role. Personally, I don’t play much of Conquest, but I can agree with you that my intent is to Support for my team.

  • You are correct that the “Who is” sections is just her Lore. I was iffy about adding it, so maybe I’ll change that to an Introduction to the Guide and a little about myself.

  • I agree with you on this. Putting a brief blurb under the Abilities is a good idea. That is something I should have done in the first place.

  • I think the Combos just has to do with wording. I think the words “Beginner” and “Advanced” are getting misinterpreted. I will switch these to words like “Easy” and “HARD” to avoid confusion. I will also add descriptions on what the end game for each combo is.

  • I will have to rework my description on Jade Emperor’s Crown. After reading, I guess I do use that term fairly loosely.

  • The Protections given by Reinforced Shoes was a mistake on my part, and I will get that fixed. As for the Aggressive Start, I will have to look into it more. I personally don’t start that way, but I’ve seen a lot of people doing that within Joust.

  • I guess you’re right with Lotus Crown, I had nothing really good to say about it, so why bother putting it in. I’ll have to see how Rod of Asclepius handles her new Nerf in Patch 4.16 before I fully cut this away from the guide.

  • By now, I think I just need to rework my entire build section. Breastplate of Valor is a great item, especially with the CDR it produces, it can be of huge benefit for Artio.

  • Again, this is going back to my build section being generally weak. I should be more “General” instead of telling people to get this here, and get this here.

I know you said, maybe she wants to aggressive early, but as a Support, that’s something you wouldn’t do. I feel that her kit has enough Utility within it to allow her to be a bit more aggressive than other Supports. Her early presence is there, and even with the nerfs in 4.16, I still think it’s there. If you can grab a kill or two early in the game. Of course I’m speaking primarily towards the Game-Modes I play (Joust and Siege).
Anyways, I will take everything into consideration and take the weekend to implement all the of the changes!

Branmuffin17 (394) | August 24, 2017 11:50am
Thanks for the responses! It absolutely helps to know this was meant less as a Conquest-specific Support build.

With that in mind, of COURSE I have further comments, lol.

In a non-Conquest situation, I absolutely see potential for getting Reinforced Shoes as a full item, especially in Siege since you start with 2,000 gold. That said, since she has some decent clear herself and can be pretty aggressive early, I see less use for Watcher's Gift. To me, Watcher's is for if you're acting as a Duo setup in a slower mode like Conquest, you need the sustain, etc. Also works (and I suggest it) for gods that just have poor regular clear, so shouldn't bother wasting mana on clearing anyway...like Bacchus. I get Watcher's for him in almost all modes.

She has healing in her kit so her health sustain is generally okay, and she might prefer going more quickly into full items to help her aggression. Just a thought.

Artio is a basically a healing support like Xing Tian and Sobek, except that she can heal her teammates as well as herself; like what Terra can do, but she's not as effective at it. I would drop the Stone of Binding or get it third after the Jade Emperor's Crown because the later not only helps nerf the enemy ADC's damage output, it also helps protect against minion damage during the first part of a match; that and its effectiveness lasts longer than the Stone. I've never tried the stone, so I can't really talk about it.

As for the boots, an aggressive guardian wants the cooldown from Shoes of Focus. I think Reinforced Shoes should only be bought when playing solo or if the enemy duo is consistently pushing you and your ADC back under your tower. Sure the health and CCR are nice, but I'd rather have the CDR and extra mana for pushbacks and/or pokes.

As for the Breastplate of Valor I really don't like it on guardians unless I'm in the solo lane because it doesn't really add anything to the team fight and its protections aren't really that much better than the aura items you can buy that not only help you, but either directly or indirectly help your teammates. Physical supports don't generally have as much CC in their kit, so I go with the breastplate instead for them so I can soak up more damage upfront while keeping my ADC alive.
1
Drexler (9) | August 24, 2017 6:33am
Hey Gulf ~ Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it!

You suggest dropping Stone of Binding, but I feel this item is CRUCIAL for Artio's Early-Game success. This item is Bridge Item, much like Ichaival and Asi. For 1,700 Gold, I'm getting 4 things...Magical Power (+20), Physical Protections (+30), Magical Protections (+30), and 10 Penetration for myself and my teammates upon dealing Hard CC. Thats A LOT for just 1,700 Gold. Obviously towards the end of the game, the item will lose its viability, but when you hit that you point, you can sell it for a Match-Specific item such as, Hide of the Nemean Lion. Overall, I think it's an amazing item that really helps Artio and her teammates to apply early pressure effectively.

I mentioned this in some comments, but I will be taking a hard look at my build sections, and refining it as best as I can.

I usually don't like Breastplate of Valor too. But personally, for what I have tried, the CDR works amazingly on Artio. Having six abilities, the +10% CDR from Shoes of Focus, plus the +20% CDR from Breastplate of Valor later, make her possible to spam her CC, heals, and damage already from the mid game.

Hi there Drexler, I would like to comment on your Artio guide.

Starting out, is this for any certain game mode? It is nice to know if it is for Conquest or any of the other modes as you can play each differently.

I like the presentation. It is crisp and clean and easy to read. The color schemes works well with her overall color as well.

Under Pros and Cons, I would put Easy to interrupt abilities or something like that. I played with her a couple days ago and Geb kept interrupting Life Tap and also her bear abilities. Really annoying and made me die once. Other than that, I agree with what you have listed and nothing else comes to mind.

Abilities sections- Maybe a brief explanation on when to use the abilities and what order you upgrade. I know you have it up above but always nice seeing it in that section as well. Just a suggestion, you rehash everything that you can get by just hovering over the icons. With you putting all the damages, her incoming nerfs (assuming there will be more) will probably change some of her stats. If you go more general wording for like duration and power/cost etc. it would be less work for you to edit for future revisions. Just a suggestion if you won't feel like keeping it absolutely up to date. If you remove the rehashing of descriptions, you could explain when and how to use abilities. Like for Energy Surge you would go off to the side and use it to hit the minion wave etc. Other than that I generally agree with your abilities upgrade. I am just not sure about upgrading her Shapeshift at the normal levels. I can see the point at Level 5 but other than that, it might be better to finish upgrading other abilities first.

Combos- Look good. For some reason the Shapeshift icon looks different than what is listed above. If you hover over it, it won't pull up anything. Curious if it is from somewhere else or not. You might want to include a combo where you use Heavy Charge as an escape. You don't always have to initiate with Heavy Charge and this gives you a chance to escape if you take heavy damage. Some explanations on when to use would be nice to see as well.

Items- I agree with most of the items selected, I wouldn't get Chronos' Pendant since you can get CDR from other protection items. She is better full tank with maybe Gem of Isolation as only powerish item.

Presentation is nice. It could be beneficial if you could segregate the different items out. Like put the Starter's in one section, then Boots, then Defensive options, Offensive options etc. With them all together, it makes it seem really long and hard to pick out certain items. By the way, really like Stone of Binding on her. So many of her abilities proc the passive like all 5 hits of Life Tap. I would maybe consider adding Hide of the Urchin as well. The health and mana it provides helps out a lot with her mana issues. Also you could maybe consider putting in Breastplate of Valor. Granted both these items are more selfish for a support. But her abilities provide so much support, that these items make her stronger, which in turn helps your teammates out, just in a different way.

Overall, the item choice chapter seems like a lot of scrolling down, which can be a little more difficult to read and get through it all. You could use some spoilers to shorten things up. For some of my guides, Zerostrike helped me out and produced some code that puts your main choice first, then in a spoiler underneath you can input other items that you can potentially pick up.

In my Eset guide it looks like this.
These are a solid choice for Eset. They provide the most power and some flat penetration along with your movement speed. With the power and pen they help with early wave clear. You do sacrifice some Cooldown reduction, but you can get that from other items if needed like Sands of Time.Late game you could sell these and get Shoes of Focus if you need cooldown and have plenty of penetration.

Replacement / situational items

If you like it and want to use it, just let me know.

Overall, you have a nice start here. I am sure Branmuffin will comment more on the items and such, but I thought I would beat him to the punch with this. Let me know what you think and you can take my suggestions however you want. If I have anything else to add, I will do so.
1
Drexler (9) | August 24, 2017 6:02am
Hey Newb ~ Thank you for the comment, and input! I already answered Bran's comment, so I'll try to fill in the gaps on the differences between the comments.
  • This guide is not geared any specific Game-Mode; however, since I do primarily play Joust and Siege, the build and information may be swayed towards those Game-Modes by mistake. I'm trying my best to be Game-Mode Neutral so the guide can apply to any and all players.

  • I agree with your addition to Pros and Cons, and playing lastnight, it actually inspired me to make a "Difficult Match-Up" section. To be honest, I played the absolute worst team lastnight, and i could string together any combos! It was Ymir, Nox, and Thor. We were still able to win the game, but boy did I feel like deadweight on the team!

  • I will be adding descriptions to the abilities and how they are used. As for your Shapeshift question...i knew this would pop up at some point. So, Shapeshift has a general icon...it's the Bear that you see here, but that icon actually does not appear in-game. If you go to the ability on the SmiteWiki, you can see the two icons used for Shapeshift, I decided to use those two icons so players can have a visual representation of what they will be seeing in-game opposed to the general icon for Shapeshift.

  • Yeah I agree with you on Chronos' Pendant, and Gem of Isolation has gained even more significance on Artio due to the nerf on Life Tap in 4.16.

  • I agree that the items are all bunched up. Since I am reworking my build section, I will separate the items into sections within the guide to make it easier for players to locate; however, I'm a bit reserved on Hide of the Urchin...it's a great item, but I personally prefer Spirit Robe for the immediate protections and much needed CDR. I also, feel that Hide of Urchin forces you to buy it early due to the stacking. That's not an issue necessarily, but there are items that I hold above it as of now.

  • I know, in general, my items will be a lot of work in keeping up to date, but I feel that I will better understand the changes happening to Artio if I manually have to put them in. I purposefully avoided the blocky tables in an attempt to give the guide a simplistic style. I will test them out on a dumby guide and see how I feel. As for Spoiler, I will look to implement them in the guide where I feel fit, but I feel it can overhand fairly easily, and the next thing you know the whole guide is a Spoiler. The general layout of the guide was put in place with Mobile users in mind. If I can have all the information up-front, no one can miss any information regardless of what platform they are on.

Thank you for your comment again, I appreciate all of the feedback. As i told Bran, I will take the next few days to implement the changes, and refine the guide. I really look forward to the journey ahead for this guide and to see where it can go!

Lopix69 (8) | August 23, 2017 1:59pm
Also, I suggest you to consider Genji's Guard regarding Magical Protection. The passive, the CDR, and the +40 MP5, this item seems to have been made for her.

In the Reinforced Shoes part, you write 30 Protections, but the max it gives is 18 Protections, am I wrong?

However, nice guide for the new goddess, voted! I really like the style and especially the combos section, but maybe going more in-depth wouldn't hurt :)
1
Drexler (9) | August 24, 2017 6:18am
As an item in generally, I REALLY like Genji's Guard. As an item on Artio...not so much because it's Passive in weak on her. Since she is building CDR already, her Cooldowns will be short, in theory. And with no "true" ultimate, the items Passive in a sense goes to waste on her. If Artio was a Stance Switcher like Hel, Tyr, Ullr...I'd like the item's Passive more, but since her Cooldowns are separate between Bear and Druid form, I value this item less than others.

The Protections on Reinforced Shoes was an error on my end, and I will get that fixed.

aaaaaand nerfed again!
1
Drexler (9) | August 24, 2017 5:45am
I'm surprised that they Nerfed the Healing Life Tap to be completely honest. That Ability seemed fairly balanced besides the Slow on it, which was addressed.

**EDIT ~ Only the Healing was Nerfed, thanks Lopix for clarifying!**
1
Lopix69 (8) | August 24, 2017 6:03am
They didn't nerf the damage, only the Healing and the Slow, which for me wasn't too strong. I think Life Tap was already a nice ability, but I don't know how it will feel now.

I think slighty reducing Maul Prey's damage won't hurt too much, maybe it was a bit too powerful.

Now I just hope they don't destroy Entangling Vines lol

I apologize for the lack of updates on this guide. To be completely transparent, I am taking a break from Smite until Season 5. There are several reasons for this break, the most apparent one is just me being a little burnt out of the game at the moment, but I also don't like the current state of the game either, the META, the balancing, the community...

This is a much needed step-back, but I assure all of you that this Guide will be back to regular updates come Season 5.

Honestly, I don't think the community is ever going to really change a noticeable amount. That's just the nature of people with a medium of the internet/online gaming. People are often much nicer (or more reserved about negativity) in public...but put them behind a computer and allow them to be more toxic without major repercussions, and this is what you often get.

This is what you see in most larger MOBA communities, and with competitive games in general. Overwatch, DoTA2/LoL, CoD, etc., etc.

I definitely understand the other aspects, some of which will definitely change come Season 5, but for the community, I think it's best if you just work on muting or otherwise trying to brush off ****py people. You can always stay active here...I think overall that our SF community is pretty chill.

I'm going to do the same thing for the same reasons. The game just isn't fun to me as it is rn.

Understandable, have a great day. (I'm not updating my guide until S5 either.)

Thank you to everyone who replied with feedback! I know replied to mostly all of the comments, but I will need a couple of days to take in all of the information, and to implement it into the guide! I have already started working on what was suggested, and hope to have it updated by tomorrow night!

The Updated Guide is finally here! Once again, thank you everyone for your feedback! It really helped me not only improve the guide, but to grow as player, and deepen my understanding of Artio. I tried my best to implement everyone's suggestions into the guide, I apologize if I missed anything. I look forward to future updates!
