Introduction

Oh, hello!
Welcome to my Sol guide. I'll try to teach you all I've learned playing Sol. As you have noticed, I gave you three different builds you can try, to see what works with your play style.

But, which one should I choose?

The first build is my favorite one, wich gives you a lot of CDR (Cooldown reduction) and allows you to depend a bit more on Sol's abilities. Choose this build if you're a failure at aiming basic attacks.

The second build is basic attack based, for those of you who'd like to exploit Sol's mobility and boxing capabilities. Choose this build if you can chase/aim quite decently.

The third build is generally what I see the most in other people's builds, combining both power and a little bit of attack speed. Use this build if you are indecise.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
*Squishy - hard to hit with AA's (auto attacks or basic attacks)
*Good sustain with Radience
*Great poke with Stellar Burst
*A tower's worst enemy (yes, even worse than Izanami)
*Good wave clear
*Attack speed
*Good camp clearing

Cons:
*Squishy (yes, as hard as it is to target Sol, it will be even harder for you to control)
*Doesn't have a stun :c
*Requires good positioning and timing (both for kills and escapes)

Skills and How to use them

Unstable Manifestation is Sol's passive. Sol gains Heat as she uses abilities and hits with basic attacks. She gains +1% Magical Power and +1.2% Attack Speed for every 4% Heat. At 100% Heat, Sol's Basic Attacks gain +25% Damage. Heat decreases over time.

My advice:
The best way to get heat is by casting Radiance. Do this in order to get towers and phoenixes.

Radiance is Sol's 1. Sol burns bright, gaining a large amount of Heat, Healing herself over time, and igniting the ground around her. Enemies that walk onto the fire take damage over time.

My advice:
Also, this power heals you for 25% of your lost health. This percentage doesn't increase with leveling, so don't waste your points and keep it a low mana cost, as you'll need to heal a lot.

Stellar burst is Sol's 2. Sol's next basic attack explodes, creating a shockwave that travels out, dealing damage. At full size, the wave retracts, dealing damage again and slowing enemies.

My advice:
This attack has extended range and is generally used to help you land basic attacks and your ultimate as well. Also makes a f***ton of damage.

Dissaparate is Sol's 3. Sol burns down her manifestation, gaining movement speed and immunity to Slows while leaving a trail of fire behind her that damages enemies.
After 3s Sol loses corporeal form for a short time. Sol may leave her incorporeal form early.

My advice:
This is your escape and a good tool against hard cc. Use it whenever you think an enemy will unleash a combo on you (remember your squishyness!).

Supernova is Sol's ultimate. Sol unleashes all her flame and fury from the sky, striking 8 times along a moveable ground target location. Enemies are knocked back on the first strike, and take only 30% damage on successive hits.

My advice:
This is a good tool for killing Hades when caught in his ultimate, and a good resource to knock back an enemy who's trying to get to you/your teammate. Also, makes a great deal of damage to secure kills and can be used as a barrier to limit enemy movement.

Items (explanation)

Here I'll be talking about the main build, as it's the one I'm more familiar with.

Starting items: The combination of Sands of time and Soul Reliquary will give you the mana and CDR you need to stay in lane for longer. Don't worry about your health, as your radience will take care of that.

Book of Thoth: Gives all the mana you could need and a lot of power. As a stacking item, get it as fast as possible.

Shoes of focus: Gives you much needed CDR and a bit of mana. If you'd rather change them for Shoes of the Magi you can do it: the extra damage and penetration are noticeable, but I stil prefer the extra cooldown.

Obsidian Shard: Besides being cheap and giving you a good power boost, they will help you get through tanky enemies and towers like a piece of cake.

Gem of Isolation: The big power boost, health (wich will give you bigger sustain through radiance) and the passive make this a great choice. The slow itself will help you get more kills and assist your team so the enemy can't escape.

Rod of Tahuti: No explanation needed. Too much power to overlook.

Chronos' pendant: It will replace Sands of time in late game and make your abilities come online faster. Besides, it provides a decent amount of magical power.

Strategy (very important for conquest!)

I play a lot of conquest, and as Sol you can either be adc, mid or solo. (Get it? SOLo. Nevermind.)

Seriously now, as a Sol in solo you have the range advantage (generally you're up against a warrior or an assassin) and have great sustain and poke to defend yourself or even get the first blood.

Playing Aggressively

Sol in mid lane/solo will focus on poking with Stellar Burst and healing herself every now and then, trying not to be aggressive until she gets her boots. Do this by aiming your Stellar Burst from a side, prioritizing the furthest minions. You can take the rest with AA's.

If you know you can use your 1 to take some of your enemy's health and then kill them with your 2, that's a valid move as well.

Generally, I get the enemy tower before finishing Obsidian Shard, but in solo it can be a bit harder. Just level up by killing camps (wich Sol exeeds at, with her Radiance and Stellar Burst) and wait for the right time to sneak in and obliterate their tower.

Playing Defensively

In order to protect yourself from an aggressive enemy, you need to know when they're coming after you. If you think you'll take damage, activate Dissaparate and reposition yourself if necessary: always keep your distance. Also remember your damage from Dissaparate is still a thing. It can save you or even get you kills.

Against melee attackers, radiance can keep them from coming any closer to you. This is a good counter to Loki when he's invisible.
To get kills with Sol, I don't recommend engaging with an enemy at full health. Try to poke them a bit before or get an ally to aid you.

Conclusion

And that's it! I hope you like my guide on my favourite god of Smite and I higly encourage you to try out all of the builds and even modify them as you please. If you have any comments to help me improve it, leave them! Thank you so much for reading.

Farewell.
