Erlang Shen I believe is one of the best counterbuilding gods due to how well he is able to use defensive items and on-hit effects more efficiently than other gods due to his doggo passive (your dog is able to proc damage and on-hit effects at 15% of their normal magnitude). He also seems to do plenty of damage while building only 1-2 offensive items or hybrid items compared to other gods. The ol' pupper helps give him more damage from on-hits such as stone cutting, ichival, executioner, and quins.
I used to build Erlang full attack speed on-hit effects with a lot of success, but I feel this build helps my team a lot more and still gives me nearly as much damage due to the survivability I gain. I don't think Erlang needs the cooldown reduction as much as other gods due to the pupper passive :)
Against healers, Erlang shines! First of all, he stacks toxic blade extremely quickly (2 'hits'), has easy to hit abilities to proc beat stick, and can stay within range of enemies to keep pestilence aura active. Even with Rod of Asclepius, they will have little to no healing active for as long as you're fighting them!
Easy peasy. The combination of stone cutting/executioners (they stack quite nicely, learned that from DoubleTapGaming's last Tyr montage) and frostbound will make sure they can't escape, and have no armor to counter you! Adding in quins or defensive items will make you unstoppable by these fat fools :)
You wish. Not needing many offensive items means you can easily stick in a stone of Gaia/Magi's blessing. I almost exclusively run tank boots on him anyways, so it's a strong start to my CCR.
True true his skins suck and when he has buffs on anything but his default skins, it is not centered on his model (Literally unplayable). Other than that I've fell in love with this god and I hope you do too!
