The goal is to get your CDR up as soon as possible so you can spam your abilities. These boots get the job done.

This item gives us 20%
more CDR, a lot of physical defense, and mana. Everything we need to make us a more effective early medic. |
When it's time to build the third item, many gods start becoming very effective. This is when you can start expecting more intense team fights to break out. This is my third item choice because I get movement speed, health, and bonus healing. These increase my survival chances, helping me stay on the battlefield longer. The bonus healing makes me a more effective medic.

Shogun's Kusari is my fourth item to complete my max 40% CDR while giving me 20% CCR and some Magic Defense. The attack speed passive is a huge plus for the team as well.
Genji's Guard can be an appropriate substitute since it offers more protections, and a CDR passive. Once the 4th item has been built, I have movement speed, bonus healing, physical defense, and magical defense. Essentially, everything I need to provide long term support. Feel free to build your magical protection 3rd and Rod of Asclepius 4th. |
Lotus Crown
|
I find that the defense bonus from lotus crown is usually more beneficial, so I build this 5th. Your AoE heal from Inspire will apply the Lotus Crown passive to all of your allies in the area (yourself included).
|
Your AoE heal from Inspire will apply the Celestial Legion Helm passive to all of your allies in the area (yourself included).

Cleanse removes CC, but there are times when I'm still caught by enemy CC. So if you're having trouble, you may consider this.
|
Very good support item. I almost always get this for the defensive advantage it can give you during a team fight.
|
I would say this is mandatory for you to counter Ring of Spears. If you see an Odin rushing you, he's probably thinking about ulting, especially if it's been ~45 seconds since his previous ult.

Hel doesn't have a true ultimate. You just switch stances with this. Keep her passive in mind as you play: If you stay in light stance long enough, her heals become better (you become a better medic). If you stay in dark stance long enough, she gets more magic damage (better for clearing waves since you aren't building any damage).
Summary of what roles you will be playing In Light Stance: Be the tanky medic. Heal, apply buffs from your items, and cleanse CCs. Note: The whole reason I advocated being tanky was so you can take some damage without having to return to base (and on top of that, all the tanky items I suggested have CDR). You should not be front lining or initiating. In Dark Stance: Clear (or help clear) minion waves while harassing and helping secure kills with Hinder. You need to consistently switch between light and dark stances. I'm not responsible for you getting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. |
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

Aside from that, is this a support build or a mid build? Because if I'm not mistaken her heals scale with power, but I'm not positive on that. I know that's the way it works with Aphrodite so I'm just assuming it's the same with Hel. But either way, you shouldn't be building protections in mid at all unless you're Hades haha.
Thanks for your feedback. This is a Just For Fun Arena Guide (No Relation to Conquest). I'm sorry if this wasn't clear enough from the title or the introduction section of this guide; I'll have to look back into it.
Regarding Purification Beads, I'll need to clarify that there are better relics out there for this playstyle, but if the player wants some extra CC protection, the option for beads is out there.
If I'm in Arena and there's an Ares, you'd better bet your butt I'm getting Purification Beads unless I have a very specific ability that allows me to counter it. And I'd expect everyone else to do the same...if they don't and they die, not like my Magic Shell was going to save them anyway.
And even if I had a counter (e.g. Ragnarok), I'm also not going to let that enemy dictate when I can use my ability...I'm not going to save it only to counter an ult.

Hel's 2 in light stance is a specific ability to counter Ares ult. Not only does it counter it for you but teammates at well. I just think there are relics that could be more useful for something that Hel does not have in her kit.
If a Fenrir tries to ult you just predict when he's going to bite you in terms of timing, then pop the Aegis you should have over Purification Beads to negate the Brutalize damage. :)
Sorry if I sound like a know it all, Hel is one of my best gods.
Anyway, you're right, Cleanse does counter No Escape.
However Cleanse purifies me only. What if I need to purify a team mate? What are the chances that all of my team mates will have purification beads ready when Ares ults?
I'm simply just saying Purification Beads is an option if a player feels more comfortable with it (I will go back and add clarification to that).
Also, a lot of people are saying bracer of undoing is a good option on some mages. Why is that the case? I can understand if the god is a massive damage dealer like Anubis, it may keep him alive long enough to turn the fight in his favor, but are there other reasons?
Also, you should totally write a guide for Hel dude! I didn't see an Arena guide for her, and I had a lot of fun playing with this build. So I said what the Hel and decided to write this. If you want to write an Arena guide yourself, I wouldn't mind helping you (my guide can be a small section in your guide, and I'll just archive this one). Perhaps this way, players can see more Arena options rather than one build/playstyle. BTW, this is just a suggestion, feel free to completely say no.
Bracer of Undoing is strong on any god except Supports in my opinion. But it's especially strong on mages because
1. They're squishy so if they get bursted down they can reverse the damage
2. Most mages rely on heavy CDR and Bracer reduces cooldowns by 3 seconds. Time it with the passive on Chronos' Pendant and you can use your entire kit then have everything up again in a matter of 4 seconds. You could imagine how it would be broken.
I've thought about doing a new guide when I have some free time but I'm not really sure on who yet. Obviously it should be on a god that I know about but I'd also like it to be on a god that doesn't really have a good guide out there. If I did though it would be a Conquest guide not an Arena guide. Thanks for the offer though.
And yea, you're right, Hinder isn't like Void Shield (don't even know why I mentioned this, it doesn't debuff physical protections) or Void Stone. That's misleading. I'll fix that.
Thanks for your input man.
