Why Odin?

Hello, and welcome to my second build only arena guide. I picked up Odin because well, I hated playing against him. So I wanted to know why he was so great. I picked up Odin and instantly loved him. This build doesn't do a ton of damage, but you can still easily do good damage to mages and hunters if you land on them. This build is meant to jump in, grab all the enemy aggro, and lead them back into your team. You can even snag some kills that almost get away with Mystical Mail passive. Mail of Renewal will keep you in the fight forever especially towards end game. Ideal combo is to use Frenzy, Shield, Leap, Spears, Curse, Gugnir's, then run out of your spears until shield and leap are back up. Don't be afraid to leap into a 1v5 if your team is on the way. You will be pretty tanky, and Magi will keep you from getting locked down initially. Remember: The more people that die in Ring of Spears the better, because then you will do more damage. GLHF!

Hey Debonair,

Sounds like you play him the way I like to play him. That said, you want to understand that this build is very niche. Although you build in some potential sustain and a high amount of health (1,150 from items, in fact), there are some things to consider.

Protections: pretty much all of your protection is physical. I'm not counting the measly 15 magical protection from Magi's Blessing. So, this build should work well in situations when you face 4-5 physical gods. It might work well against 3 physical gods, if the 2 magical include one focusing mostly on healing, or being a full tank with low damage, lessening the potential damage you'll take on the magical side. You may want to make this a bit more rounded on protections, or offer a 2nd build.

CDR: even with Odin's nerf to the CD on Ring of Spears, it's still a pretty quick CD compared to most gods (usually 90 seconds), and is still the most defining aspect of his game. I can see where you want to do more damage to close enemies by buying Mystical Mail 2nd, but if you are hard up on that as the 2nd item, I'd still suggest getting Breastplate of Valor sooner in the build, purely for the high CDR. You really want to try to get his CDR items as early as possible, to help your entire team get more kills. I know Mail of Renewal is 3rd, and provides 10% CDR, but I personally still feel you want more and sooner.

Mail of Renewal: okay, I see the idea, and I don't have a particular problem with it. The sustain while you're out there is great if you are racking up the kills/assists, but keep in mind that base is also very close, so sustain items overall have somewhat less importance. That 10 HP5 is essentially useless. Just something to think about...if you find this item really helps you, keep it in. I just liked it a lot more (and so did a lot of people) when it also carried some physical protection. Without it...well...it's a bit weak now, especially in Arena. Might have better use in longer games where base is farther.

Void Shield: as item #6, I'd say this item is a bit weak. Early in the game it has more effect, but it serves its purpose here because you don't have any other penetration-type items. But again, it comes down to having 2 other physical protection items in the build, so not sure this one is necessary.

All in all, it might be best if you aimed for a bit more balance, or had different builds for different situations. For more damage, you would want to consider some penetration, such as Titan's Bane or even Brawler's Beat Stick, but think about what Odin does best, and build to that.
