Introduction

When I first started playing Smite, I immediately fell in love with hunters. My first mastered god, and first god to ever achieve a win, or any kind of major milestone for me was Neith. However, after using her for awhile, I began longing for another hunter, and when I was searching for gods through the Smite client one night, I came upon Cupid; who was surprisingly cheap in terms of asking price considering how much of a powerhouse he can be, and how much top tier potential he has. After having achieved mastery level in under a week with the god of love, it left me wondering why he's fallen off the meta. This made me want to make a champion build for him, as he is very underrated in my personal opinion.

Please keep in mind that this is my first "real" build (real as in, organized and not based on how I feel per game. An actually planned out build). All constructive criticism is welcome, I'm always looking for ways to make my work better.

Items

Death's Toll

There really isn't much to say about death's toll other than the fact that you really cannot go wrong using it on any hunter. DT gives you a good amount of physical power, especially for a starter item, and along with the health it adds a small amount of attack speed, which you'll see later on will come in handy. Also, it's passive allows for physical life steal which you'll find will save you in spades, especially when you're going deep with Cupid's flutter-heartbomb combo.

Warrior's Tabi

This is also an item which I would classify as a starter item for any hunter, either ninja or warrior's tabi. The movement speed is invaluable, and it adds a great amount of attack speed, which if you can't already tell, is something that this build will be building heavily in. It also adds 15% penetration, which helps a lot against enemy gods with protections.

Asi

This is really at the point of late early game where you get the majority of your attack speed. That's really the main draw for this item on Cupid. It also adds huge amounts of life steal, which will end up saving your life on many an occasion.

Hastend Fatalis

Again, attack speed. once you've got this and the asi online, your attack speed is off the charts. you'll be able to clear creeps and minions with basic attack after basic attack because your attacks are so much faster than their recovery animations, and they just won't be able to keep up.

Deathbringer

This is where we really see Cupid start to shine mid to early late game. This item adds so much physical power, which coupled with your attack speed will have you dealing at minimum 100 damage nearly every second. Not only that, but the added critical hit chance, turns Cupid into a monster.

Rage

This is just to ice this whole cake, really. With the added critical hit chance, not to mention this item's passive, you'll find yourself dealing critical hits virtually every other attack.

Malice

This is the last item (probably) you'll want to get. You'll be selling DT to make room for this; and it really just brings everything to a point where your basic attacks rarely deal regular damage. Along with the added physical power, you'll be able to basic attack down almost any god.

Summary

Cupid, like any hunter is good for solo lane. But in my experience, he is excellent long lane. When you are in the long lane with a lane partner, unless they have high sustain, it may be more to your best interest to opt into share the love sooner, however it should be noted that this ability doesn't heal nearly as much as it used to.

Starting out, you want to immediately farm minions as the only way to pull off the stuns with heartbomb and/or fields of love is to get 8 stacks of Cupid's passive. While this doesn't require you to kill anything, you'll still want to farm with Cupid, because if he can get the experience/gold edge over his opponents, he will be devastating.

Pros / Cons

Pros

    INSANE single target damage!

Great mobility, especially in mid game even without flutter

Great crowd control; with his stuns and slows, your opponents won't have a chance to escape the jaws of love.

Easy to play and get a hang of.

Cons
This build does not offer much in terms of protections, and while Cupid is not exactly a glass canon, here is far from tanky. Use with caution, especially against mages.

If you are chasing your opponent deeply, be very sure that you can land the flutter-heartbomb combo and claim the kill; because otherwise, you can find yourself deep in enemy territory without any real protection.

I usually do not opt very heavily into actives. If you have any ideas about any active items that may improve Cupid, please let me know.

As far as actives are concerned I like to always have purification beads if the enemy is cc heavy. also to increase sustainablity meditation is nice and the health restore is nice in the end

well I don't play cupid too much but on building hunters you are going so much overkill on crit. IMO you have enough crit with 2 crit items ( Deathbringer being a must). The last item is more of an situational. I would go for pen (depending on attack speed cap I would take The Executioner or Titan's Bane or Qin's Sais (based on tank))
