NeNe Kappa

1 X
Kuzenbo summons and throws the powerful NeNe Kappa, who can ricochet off of walls. After firing, if the NeNe Kappa bounces off of a wall it will travel 70 units from that point up to a maximum of 2 bounces. After reaching maximum range, or if an Enemy God is hit by the NeNe Kappa, it will burst forth from its shell, slowing and attacking them for 6s. Kuzenbo transfers 20% of his Health and Protections to the NeNe Kappa.

Hello

Hi Everyone

Diamond Kuzenbo player here, just so you know I'm not trolling ;-)

This is going to be as short as I can make it whilst being as informative as it needs to be.

*This is not your usual guardian or support build. I know there are better items for the team, better counters, better options for certain modes and situations, but they're for other builds and not this one.
Your comments are always valued and have even helped me change builds for the better, but in this case, we have one simple aim and unless there's a way to improve the build to achieve the aim more betterer, please just keep the comments to how great I am for sharing this :-) (jk)

The Idea and numbers bit

Here's the plan - to build full CDR and have abilities available as often as we can, reflecting as much damage as possible and not losing HP or protections.

We want to be such an annoying threat that no enemy will want to engage because they know we have kappas and reflection available pretty much all the time.
'If you attack me, someone's going down, and it could well be you #sorrynotsorry'

It'll take a small amount of skill and timing-knowledge to pull this off to the best of it's potential, but once you nail it, you're going to have a lot of fun.

The numbers are as follows (correct me if these are inaccurate)
With the above build, you'll have:

267 Physical protections
233 Magical protections
3150 HP with 40 HP5
1330 Mana with a massive 70 MP5
and 40% cooldown reduction with extra perks to get that down even further

See what I mean about still having the health and protections?
'Yes'
Excellent, you're a good lil kappa.

Benefits of this build

Positives of this build:

We stay relevant as a tank and support
Extremely dangerous despite building no damage items
A risky target for almost any enemy
Many Kappa!
Such reflect!
Major pain in the botty
Enemies will have to try and counter you as your CDR and huge MP5 means there's rarely a situation where your kit is down and you're vulnerable
You will get kills from enemies unloading their kit on you

Negatives of this build:

Who cares

Items and why they're picked

*quick note on Starter Items*
Depending on the mode and role you're playing, you'd choose the relevant starter item. I won't go into them here but I will say the usual ones apply

Shoes of Focus
10% of the 40 CDR we'll have at the end. Mana and much needed movement speed.

Hide of the Nemean Lion
Choose tier one of this before boots if you want a bit of physical protection against, say an enemy carry or solo-laner. Then buy full boots and then complete Nemean.
Up to you, really.

Gauntlet of Thebes
This is the only team-oriented item you're getting. When built fully, you've got 200 health and 50 protections, as well as an aura that gives your nearby allies a bit of a protections boost too. the HP5 is also welcome.
You can get Hide of the Urchin instead if you like, but the mana isn't needed at this stage and the HP5 is nice on the gauntlet (plus I'm a support main and I can't bring myself to go full selfish and have no team auras)

Genji's Guard
Right, this one is important. We're getting health, magical protections and another 10% CDR. However, it's the passive that makes this the anti-mage pick for this setup.
When you're damaged by some magical dude, your cooldowns are reduced instantly by 3 seconds. OK, this is only allowed every 30 seconds, but that's not long to wait at all.
What the passive means for us is that when you combine it with the CDR on NeNe Kappa and Sumo Slam when we get hit using Shell Spikes, we can effectively have constant kappas available, especially when we get full CDR later on.
*Feel free to get this earlier if you're facing a magical enemy in early game.

Relic Dagger
Get this 5th or last, depending on situation.
300 health, another 10% CDR and some movement speed. Nice. Add in the 30% CDR on relics and the Shield of Thorns you definitely bought as one of you relics (likely 2nd) will be up a lot more regularly. With thorns up often, your kappas and built in reflections and the CDR from the Genji's passive, you're now more of a troll than a turtle.

Mantle of Discord
Get this before the relic dagger if you're in more need of protections that health.
10% CDR caps the cooldown (let's take a sec to lol at the Genji's passive again) we get a whopping 60 of each protection and a free stun for team fights (like a mini Geb ult)

Acorn of Yggdrasil
Kappa

A quick one on Shield of Thorns
Get it and don't be tempted to choose something else. Without this, the whole reflect aim of the build is gone and buying relic dagger was pointless. Sure, we have a built in reflect and Nemean, but we really want Thorns. Trust pls ;-)

We now have full CDR, kappas are literally available one after the other and we're reflecting so much damage on the attacker that they'll either kill themselves or they'll have checked your build (everyone should be doing this) and will be avoiding you or trying to counter you (good luck with that)

Fun things to do

Just a few things you can do if your heart seeks the fun and laffs:

Fun thing: Jump in the middle of a 1v1 boxing match and body-block while hitting your reflections.

Likely outcome: Enemy dies, ally doesn't

Fun thing: Dive head-first into a big hitting enemy ultimate ( Poseidon's or Hou Yi's for example)

Likely outcome: Enemy dies or has to return to base

Fun thing: Watch Hera drop Argus into battle. Throw a NeNe Kappa at Argus and then another, then another.

Likely outcome: Argus vs constant kappas = laughs.

Fun thing: If your enemy ADC is someone with a basic attack stim, such as Artemis, Izanami or Jing Wei, why not stand around in front of them for a while and see how long it takes them to stop hitting you.

Likely outcome: One of you dies. (I've actually had a Cernunnos stand and attack me until he was dead, really)

Fun thing: Wait for your full kit and thorns to be ready and 'accidentally' run round a corner into an enemy, then turn and run away as if you're out of mana or abilities are down. As soon as they start unloading their junk at you, unleash the reflect bb.

Likely outcome: enemy regrets chasing you

Fun thing: Don't buy Winged Blade or Magi's Cloak and when someone like Ares, Cerberus or Xing Tian puts you into danger, welcome it and pop your load out and see if anyone kills themselves.

Likely outcome: You still die but your attackers are low on health.

Fun thing: Stand in an Odin ring and see what happens

Likely outcome: Who knows

Thanks

Thanks for reading. Again, all comments appreciated, but please remember this is a build with one aim in mind and it isn't a typical support guardian or solo lane setup. If you have ideas to change items that'd help get the aim achieved more successfully, please let me know.
If your amendment ideas don't help the aim of the build, you're trying to make a different build.

I hope some of you guys try this out and have fun with it. It's really satisfying IMO.

Hello, thank you for you're guide and build i found it very educational. But could you please update this to the latest patch??

Also ANY tips for Joust if you're team has 2 magical damage dealers and only one physical who decided hes gona tank and heal instead of fighting. I ask cuz i had this in match where my enemies was Poseidon Freya and Guan Yu but all Guan Yu did was heal hes team and body block our hunter (Our team was: Kuzenbo Neith Ra) i took Kuzenbo first due to order (ranked pick &ban) I gues my enemy team picker just was better counterpicker then us.

How do still make a good use of Kuzenbo if there is 2 mages in opposition and one warrior/tank who doesn't engage you? should i go full attack build?

Start: Guardian's Blessing, Shoes, 3x Healing Potions and Mana Potions.
Full build: Reinforced Shoes, Heartward Amulet (replace with Pestilence late, Breastplate of Valor, Oni Hunter's Garb (for engaging), Spirit Robe, Midgardian Mail. You'll max CCR, but that's not a big deal. Once you get HW online, you can start forcing the enemy tank to focus on you because you're diving his team; don't dive unless you have Shell Spikes up. Ra and Neith should be building Divine Ruin and Brawler's Beat Stick respectively. If they don't, remind them to get it because both Guan Yu and Freya have healing in their kits.

For relics I'd probably go with Heavenly Wings and Shield of Thorns because most Poseidon players get Gem of Isolation, which wings can counter.

Basically your job in that match is to force the tank to focus on you so your damage dealers can focus on the enemy. Kuzenbo has enough tools in his kit to really disrupt an enemy's attack if you're aggressive, but he's not real good when played passively like Khepri because he's not a backline guardian. If you aren't in the enemy team's faces, then you're doing something wrong.

Something tells me he doesen't read replies, we might have to resort to pms.

Yeah, I really think you need to look over the solo builds you added. Reinforced Greaves? Chronos' Pendant? Hide of the Urchin third item?

DeathclawDisco (1) | October 31, 2018 4:42am
You can choose other items if you like.

Gulfwulf (81) | May 9, 2019 12:16pm
No, it's you should choose other items. Hide's good third, but I wouldn't start off with reinforced greaves in solo; I'd get either Shoes of Focus or Shoes of the Magi since you should be getting your blue buff when it's up and both Genji's Guard and Breastplate of Valor have CDR.

50 protections, not 60.

Indeed. Changed, thanks :-)

Why not swap genji’s for Oni Hunters and Mantle for Spirit Robe for %damage mitigation to work with his passive? Then swap relic dagger for something else (e.g item with cdr). The extra damage mitigation will help with tanking damage so you can reflect damage with thorns and nemian.

DeathclawDisco (1) | October 11, 2018 2:07am
Totally with the Spirit Robe thang.
Itd definitely help.
I picked Mantle due to the passive stun and the larger prots though. Either would be fine and still suit the build.

However Relic Dagger is a must. I wouldn't remove it for this build.

Ok I changed my mind about Relic Dagger (I forgot passive lol). Genji's is good for the cooldown aspect and spikes, but Oni Hunter's Garb is excellent paired with Spirit Robe and his passive.

Another thing is most games I would ideally get Gauntlet of Thebes second to stack it, unless you were ahead AND wanted to still play safe for the lategame.

I suggest: Shoes of Focus, Gauntlet of Thebes, Hide of the Nemean Lion, Oni Hunter's Garb, Relic Dagger, Spirit Robe. The build also gives full CCR which can also help you body block/stand in front of enemies more often and not be CC'ed during spikes/thorns, and gives 30% CDR which is good enough as lategame you can just pick up 500 gold pot or blue buff for the last 10% to reach the cap.

And if you wanted to build more damage or less support-y you can swap thebes for void stone or another item.

Also, does upgraded Shell work badly with Thorns/spikes?

But Relic does have CDR...unless you're just saying Relic's not worth it and get a different CDR item, though I think the concept here is to use Thorns more.

Honest question...do you think there's a point in a build at which you just start working against yourself? I'm talking very specific cases though...enemy has to be knowledgeable and aware, and realize what you're building. But having 2 damage mitigation items, damage reflect in Nemean and Thorns, and high protections overall might mean that an enemy might just be "ah screw it, I'm not even going to bother attacking him." Then you get very little use out of all the items, because you're not taking damage (or at least only getting ability poke from long distance or something to negate Nemean's basic attack reflect).

If the enemy doesen’t target him during it then that can help him harass even more easily.
