Little about me

Hi! My name is FootFetish, but my real name is Diego. I was born in Uruguay, a beautiful and humble country in south america. I do dedicate a lot of time into my guides and I love helping people with them. I enjoy singing and I'm studing for it, and I love smite!
Aphrodite has always been my number one. She was my first mastered god, and now I don't play her as often as I used to. But I do know a lot about her and I want to share my knowledge with you!

I don't play smite since 2020 started, but this specific Aphrodite guide it's a guide that i worked on a lot and i just can't let it go. But for my luck, things haven't changed a lot for her since the last patch where this was updated. So let's get into it and share your doubts or let me know any mistake in the comments!

Also, before getting into the guide, beware that Aphrodite is a very controversial god. Maining Aphrodite brought me a lot of problems such as people abandoning games because allegedly aphrodite sucks [which is not 100% false], people going AFK because it's your fault, even "being gay" (?) or being always yelled at and reported for missing opportunities, abilities and more. All of this is because Aphrodite is mostly played incorrectly. She has a very strange/hard style of play, and all your abilities are lifesaving for you and your teammates. So pay attention to all details carefully to have a more peaceful life.

Gameplay (Early)

Here i'm going to talk about the playstyle at every stage of the game as a mid laner, as a solo laner and as a support.

"Mid lane" means mid. (Mage build, full/barely full damage).
"Solo lane" means solo. (Tanky, Bruiser, Mixed).
"Duo Lane" means support. (Full defense, auras).

As a mid laner, Aphrodite is very squishy in the early game. She has 448HP, and 355 speed, and that can play against you if you take a bad desition. What you should do is focus on clearing the wave. If the mid laner tries to fight you, try to contest using your damage and healing yourself, but you can always juke or try to farm outside your lane (Always from your side of the map).

You should try to secure your red buff WITH your jungler. You have good clear, but if the mid laner / jungler ganks you, you will most of the times die or at least get your buff stolen. Get your gold, get your mid harpies, and rotate only if you're ahead. It doesn't really matter if the enemy mid laner rotates more than you. You're aphrodite. Your strong point is late game and teamfighting.

Aphrodite in solo, in the early game, is stronger than in any other lane. She wins in wave clear against a lot of gods and goddesses and she has some potential to fight in the early game. You should just poke and clear in the first wave, and then go for your blue buff, you really need it.

Aphrodite's main mission in lane is to poke the enemy out. You won't have a lot of killing potential over enemies, since good players always will rush Pestilence against you. That is kinda frustrating. But you can send them back to base if you keep damaging and damaging them over and over. Rotate with your jungler into the mid laner, and try to ask for ganks whenever its possible.

As support, this is your worst early game lane. Pressure in duo lane is a must-have, and Aphrodite's level 1 to 5 lacks any pressure. You do have sustain and extra damage, movement speed and mana regen for your soul mate. But that's not enough! In the early game you lack damage and you lack peel too.

You should proxy the first wave. Throw Love Birds and ask for the ADC to do the same thing. Run to lane and abuse the fact that they have to tank the minions. You must try to kill them only if you have a high early pressure ADC like Sol, Ullr or Neith. If you don't have a pressuring ADC, or your ADC doesn't wants to fight (Or you don't want to) just focus on clearing. You will finish sooner than the enemy duo, so you must poke them or steal the purple buff.

If you don't feel confortable with proxying, just clear the wave and try not to die. You won't get the same lead you'd get if you proxy, but you will be safer.

Gameplay (Halfway)

In the mid game, Aphrodite starts to get big. She can already do high damage with her combo, she is a pretty essential part of teamfights and she is almost unkillable with someone at her side.
Everything has a bad side though, so Aphrodite is easy to kill and with the low mobility that she has she transforms into something like a hit-or-miss.

Aphrodite must be aside of her support / jungler as most as possible. In the mid game you're not too strong being as squishy as you are. You should focus on ward, farm and teamfight carefully.

In the mid game, solo laners start to rotate often and kill objectives. Aphrodite should not stand behind. Mid game with some damage and tankiness is perfect for her. She can't be a real frontline because she's not as hard to kill as a real warrior, but she can take some damage for her teammates and she can initiate and peel.

You should already have a fair ammount of items at this time, so you should not be afraid to teamfight. Kiss your jungler / carry (Mid/ADC) and gank lanes, or gank the jungler. Don't forget to farm though, its really important to get the most gold you can for late game, since this phase of the game is Aphrodite's best stage.

Aphro should already be rotating around the map, focusing in ganking the enemy mid laner and leeching farm from her jungler / ADC.
You have control over who dies and who lives. You can use your kit over one god, and with the help of your team, that enemy will die 99% of the times.

Aphrodite into support can be a little bit though when it comes to healing. Having between 0 to 120 power inside your build can affect hardly your healing capabilities, even more if the enemy gets antiheal. Rod of Asclepius should be your best (and only) damage option.

Gameplay (Late)

Now that late game has arrived, you are jesus! you have insane damage output, Love Birds by itself can hurt someone really bad to the point they should back to base, and Back Off! transform into an objective securing (And kill securing!) tool.

Now, the price for that is that Aphrodite dies too fast. You must be sticked to someone in every single teamfight since she has 0 mobility (Only a mobility boost in her main CC) and she has 1740 HP.
It sounds like i'm scaring you lol.. But i really have to warn you that you need to know positioning if you wish to play Aphrodite. Damaging from far away is your first mission. Then comes everything else.

As the solo laner, now you're tankier than ever before, and you still can heal effectively and deal good damage. You rule. You can go there by yourself and if you don't feel confortable being alone, just grab your support and damage from the back.

Try to tank if needed, but remember you're not all-tanky as a guardian. Your main role is to heal and use Kiss wisely and multiple times in teamfights.

Now you are smite's mother! Your peel is really easy to apply, you have damage for your own, you have invulnerability via Undying Love and you're a healing powerhouse!
Late game comes and it's your time to shine.

Try to follow your teammates, initiate and if the enemy has antiheal try to heal out of combat. You must tank tower shots and even titan if its required, you must tank objectives and you must tank enemy damage! Try to stun and bodyblock people to make them easy targets.

Aphrodite's Combos

COMBO 1

Difficulty: Basic

Type: Offensive / Defensive

____

This is your most effective combo for escaping / stop someone bursting you, and your main damage combo in lane. Love Birds sets a good healing for you and damage to your enemy, and Kiss denies their mobility for a while.
This combo is easy to execute, easier if its in close range.

COMBO 2

Difficulty: Easy

Type: Offensive / Defensive

____

This is your most effective combo for escaping / stop someone bursting you. Back Off! sets a good distance to your enemy, and Love Birds denies their damage for a little while (Heals).
This combo is easy to execute, easier if its in close range. It can be used for an offensive option, but its always better for defense and escaping.

COMBO 3

Difficulty: Medium

Type: Offensive / Defensive

____

Perfect defensive combo, but questionable offensive combo.
Defensively, you can push your enemy away and heal yourself for running away. But for damage, without the stun from Kiss, its pretty hard to accomplish. But sometimes your CC will be down, and you must do something!

COMBO 4

Difficulty: Medium

Type: Defensive

_ _

This combo can be used in lanes as much as in teamfight and its perfect to get someone off your back, or to use over your soul mate. It grants a long immunity time period including a high damage output. Undying Love if ranked to maximum level, will give you immunity for the whole time you're accomplishing this combo.

COMBO 5

Difficulty: Hard

Type: Defensive

_ _ _

Your most complete combo for protecting yourself from damage. Undying Love does all the work, while you stun, heal and knockback. The combo seems easy, but to Kiss someone after you used your ultimate is hard, And if you miss Kiss the combo losses its total form. You should always look to the enemy for this combo.

COMBO 6

Difficulty: Hard

Type: Offensive / Deffensive

_ _ _

This combo uses Aphrodite's full kit. It grants good defense, while it also gives good offense after using your ultimate. Its like your medium damage combo, but with your ultimate added. This is the hardest combo that Aphrodite can develop. If you hit all your abilities you will deal an atrocious ammount of damage.

Item Justification

_ SHOES OF THE MAGI / SHOES OF FOCUS: These both are your best mobility options and your core items. No mage should play without picking between one of these two items. I truly prefer Shoes of the Magi on Aphrodite, but i included builds with Shoes of Focus to embrace everybody's preferences.

CHRONOS' PENDANT: This is one of your best damage options. As Aphrodite, you don't appreciate anything more than CDR, MP5 and damage. Chronos' Pendant is giving you all 3 in one, and a CDR passive too. Its perfect, but only into the mid lane build.

VOID STONE: Really powerful item that shines mostly on the solo lane against a magical solo laner such as another healer (Ex.: Chang'e) a non healer mage (Ex.: Eset) or a guardian (Ex.: Xing Tian). It gives you an utile aura, magical defense, some power and an HP boost. Perfect in bruiser build.

WARLOCK'S STAFF: Altough Aphrodite its not the best in what comes to building stacks, she makes really good use of the health this item gives, and from the magical power boost. Getting Warlock's Staff as a solo laner can do you a favor and suplant other offensive items for defensive ones, since +115 power its perfect.

ROD OF TAHUTI: High magical power item, that gives you non-sense mana sustain and a huge damage boost. This item is only recommended if you're playing Aphrodite in the mid laner, but if you feel confortable with it, you can use it for a boots replacement in the late game into your solo lane build.

BREASTPLATE OF VALOR: This item suits perfectly in any role or lane. You can get it in mid lane which is not so recommended but some players do like to get defense as mid, you can get it as solo which is the most recommended placement to get it, and you can get it in support with no troubles. Its a very versatile item with huge physical protections, CDR and mana sustain.

GENJI'S GUARD: Potentially the best magical defense item in this game. You obtain huge magical protections, 10% CDR including a crazy CDR passive, some cool health and AMAZING mana sustain! this item should fit all solo and support builds because of its low price and all it does and gives.

LOTUS CROWN: The perfect item if you wish to have some tankiness into the mid lane, if you want better survivability in the solo lane, and if you want better teamfight as support. The item gives good mana sustain, great physical protections and some power (And a great defensive passive for you and your soulmate). lotus crown

ROD OF ASCLEPIUS: This item is not the best in the mid lane or support since in the mid lane you have better options and in support you're sacrificing damage for tankiness, but in the solo lane its a good item. It helps with anti-heal problems, and its really good in teamfights. The movement speed is useful too.

OBSIDIAN SHARD: The perfect item for mid laners, and a situational option for solo laners. Do not pick this as support.
Penetration is very important, but percentage of penetration is even better when you have 2 or more tanky enemies / frontliners. It also gives good magical power.

SPEAR OF THE MAGUS: Best penetration option of all out there. Aphrodite is a champion when it comes to building stacks in this item, this results in really good additional damage to Love Birds and even to Back Off! when used right after the tick damage from the birds.

SPEAR OF DESOLATION: The second go-to penetration option. The CDR is very useful, combined with the penetration and combined with the huge power spike that the item gives. It also contains a CDR passive, which you won't make good use of (at least not in the early - mid game, which should be when you're getting this item).

Counters

COUNTER 1:

ENEMIES WITH ANTIHEAL

Enemies with antiheal is one of the worst Aphrodite counter. These gods have antiheal included in their kits, so when they hit you with their damaging abilities, if they have Brawlers beat stick or Divine Ruin they will boost the antiheal effect to 90% (or 100%)
Gods with antiheal in their kit:

- Serqet
- Bacchus
- Sobek
- Odin
- Medusa
- Chang'e
- Ah Puch
- Cerberus

WHAT TO DO?

Purification Beads, Undying Love or healing with a reduced ammount. There is nothing you can do about it more than that, or avoiding the abilities.

COUNTER 2:

ANTIHEALING ITEMS

Items with antiheal are the second biggest counter to Aphrodite. Applying a 40% healing reduction for 8 seconds, Aphrodite will heal almost 1/2 of what she should be healing. It is still a good ammount of healing, but this debuff is really dangerous.

Items that apply antiheal:

- Toxic Blade
- Divine Ruin
- Brawler's Beat Stick

WHAT TO DO?

Just try to avoid the abilities incoming from enemies. Do your best to juke, because there is no real solution to antiheal. You can get Rod of Asclepius, though. It gives you a 15% healing increase, which can somehow be useful, but its not a direct solution. (You will be healing for the normal ammount of healing + an additional 15% - 40% from antiheal effects)

COUNTER 3:

CURSED ANKH

Just try to avoid the abilities incoming from enemies. Do your best to juke, because there is no real solution to antiheal. You can get Rod of Asclepius, though. It gives you a 15% healing increase, which can somehow be useful, but its not a direct solution. (You will be healing for the normal ammount of healing + an additional 15% - 40% from antiheal effects)

Cursed Ankh is not any popular relic this season. Its not bad, but its not your best options since you're replacing other cool buffs and debuffs for an item with a situational use. It is still, inside the pool of Aphrodite counters. It grants 50% healing reduction, and a 20% damage increase to all enemies if you heal while this is active (it deletes 20% of your protections for explaining it in an easy way).

WHAT TO DO?

Recognize the enemies who have this item, and try not to heal when they pop it. If the enemy is way too close to you and you don't know if this relic is up, don't heal any teammate, or you can get them in trouble.

Warding

GREEN: Stands for basic warding. You will need to ward these zones for an efficient and safe laning phase (And don't get flammed by angry teammates).

YELLOW: Applies for optional / situational / agressive warding. These wards can or cannot be placed. They definitely are useful, but they're not 100% needed.

RED: Stands for really agressive and risky warding. These warding options partially needed, but if the enemy team is being extremely agressive or you're behind, you should not be warding these places.

Conclusion

And that's all! Let me see what you think about my guide. This took me a whole week to write, noice.

If you want a build against physical healer solo (or high sustain), e.g. in this case Guan Yu: https://smite.guru/match/952635876

Also you still haven't fixed your 2nd support build. An easy solution would be get genji's third instead of breastplate, and get Gauntlet of Thebes 4th (which is also getting buffed next patch).

FootFetish (4) | July 22, 2019 2:57pm
That build is fine but don't you think getting Divine Ruin as 5th item its a little late? Like, in laning phase you should be applying it all the time to counter ASAP. I'd replace breastplate and get it in the place of Divine Ruin since you already have Lotus Crown.

Your 2nd Support Build has 50% CDR. You only need 30% CDR max in your build when Potion of Magical Might exists. Also 40% CDR is the hard cap.

Also in your 2nd solo build, you mention swapping pestilence for breastplate, thing is breastplate + genji's + spirit robe is 40% CDR, and as I mentioned the potion earlier (and solo lane you can get blue buff which gives 10% CDR), you only need 30% CDR max in your build.

FootFetish (4) | July 19, 2019 6:56am
I already fixed it. Thanks for feedback.
1
Kriega1 (143) | July 19, 2019 9:22am
It still overcaps CDR because you’re selling your boots late for either spirit robe or mantle.

Fine, but why are you mentioning Potion of Magical Might? That item is only good when you're really ahead and snowballed... Its way better to get that on the late game (and just for the power, not for the CDR).
But yeah i'm kinda stupid since i apparently don't see a difference between 40 and 50

Gulfwulf (81) | July 19, 2019 9:13am
You should be buying potion whether or not you're ahead once your full build is done. The only times I wouldn't buy it is when the game ends before I have enough gold to after my build was done or if the game ends before I can get my build finished. It's something to keep in mind when building because you don't have to shoot for that max cooldown via items if there's something you can buy without cooldown that's better than those with it.

Fixes:

Solo Build 1: Urchin third item is not... ideal (especially on Aphro, like are you sure you're going to dominate that much that the pickup third would be fine?). Would prioritise it after void stone (or maybe even lotus crown). Also could consider pen boots since you're getting breastplate second. Iso for boots replacement is fine.

Solo Build 2: pen boots into pestilence into divine. Why not CDR boots? You're going to suffer early mana issues anyway but cdr boots would make it better. I would swap Genji's for lotus crown since you have no physical defense until 5th item, and it's spirit robe which only has 40 phys prots which is just bad. Swap genji's for lotus crown, then get spirit robe, and last item you can get genji's/mantle. So CDR boots, pestilence, divine, lotus, spirit robe, genji's/mantle. Void Stone for boots replacement is fine.

Support Build: Don't know why you're trying to build her like a guardian save for the Chronos' pendant (which itself - why is this in a support build???). Consider swapping heartward for genji's, and sov for lotus crown. Thebes second might not be ideal on Aphro either since her early lane phase is rough in support. Suggested example build: cdr boots, lotus, genji's, thebes, shield of regrowth (or winged blade, or situational) , mantle of discord (or spirit robe or situational). Sell boots for Gem of iso or alternative.

Mid Build: Fine, but you could consider a Book of Thoth route if you want to itemise into Book of the Dead. Also you need divine Ruin listed as situational for Mid. Also you overcap CDR (50%) within your first 4 items (including starter) which is just poor inefficient building, either swap deso for divine or swap cdr boots for pen boots.

FootFetish, i see you updated the build. But you still haven't addressed a lot of Kriega's discussion points ^

Well done genius. Have anything else insightful to say?

Yes, but you're not understanding his point about overcapping CDR @ 50%. Keep the blessing, but swap out Shoes of Focus with Shoes of the Magi for that early pen. That way you're not getting 50% CDR in your first 4 items.

I actually don't see a major issue with the solo and support builds. The builds may be slightly situational, but Aphro is a situational god.

I do feel in the Supp build that in place of Sov, BoV might be a better option at least in that build order with Thebes 2nd. Could allow you to get Reinforced or Traveler's for different shoes utility function. Of course, you wouldn't then get Chronos' later in the build, but I think that's actually fine for a Support function...instead, get some additional CDR from Shield of Regrowth

In the Mid build, a bit too squishy IMO. Would think at least one protection item would be helpful.

Also, instead of a single build, I feel a build example should be provided, along with a listing of situational items to consider.

The writeup is fine. Covers general strat well, identifies her weaknesses and how to cover for that, with positioning, warding, etc.

Thanks for commenting! Shield of Regrowth May be a good option, a 0 power aphrodite may be a big problem, but i agree with your opinion on Sovereignty.
I don't see the thing in getting defense as a mid laner. if you're getting deeply focused then yes, mage's cloak or Mantle of Discord are good options. personally i won't reccomend it.
yeah, i wanted to cover all the aphrodite aspects :) she was never really meta, but in this season 6 she's getting a little more stronger! and you should ward in every god really.
thanks for reading my guide!

I understand 0 power being a potential issue since her healing scales. That said, getting power just to increase her healing function can both work and not work. If they build anti-heal and you're affected by it, that power is doing almost 0 for you...very little difference in healing for a Support build at least where you're focusing more on survival and utility.

That said, outside of combat, the power will help get people back in the fight more quickly.

Being Aphro usually automatically means you're forcing the enemy to build anti-heal. If you don't, you get the last laugh for them being stupid, but when they do (as they should), this just means you want to figure out ways in which you can still be useful even with your healing nerfed.

@Vini sds
Hello. I see theperfectprism already commented on your guide. He is one of our aphrodite experts.

I also recommend talking to Vini since he's played a good amount of Aphrodite as well

I think y'all already covered everything I had to say.

The only thing that Pris and I have different opinions on is about Lotus Crown/ Celestial Legion Helm. He prefers the latter, while I prefer the former.

Some of your builds cap cdr. As mysterionz mentioned, chronos pendant isn't recommended on a support build.

FootFetish (4) | June 7, 2019 9:58am
Yeah, cdr is important on aphro. Chronos pendant is my go-to damage item as aphrodite support. people go for asclepius, soul reaver, or just full damage as aphrodite in guardian, but that's just my personal favourite. you don't have to go another damage item if you really don't want to, you can replace it for Midgardian Mail, or Oni Hunter's Garb or whateva

only build that caps CDR is the mid build because of Mage's Blessing effect. Because of that, I would recommend switching Shoes of Focus for Shoes of the Magi

What the hell are those support and Solo builds

We've talked about this before, Kriega. Leave actual feedback on what you would change instead of just posting stuff like this.

Being a 3k worshipper Aphrodite (wink) I'd say (in your solo build):
- Celestial Legion Helm is more valuable to her right now then Breastplate of Valor. Mainly because it gives 10 more physical protection then the breastplate (albeit it's only because of the passive), and it gives you a boost to your magical damage in ~level 9-11, depending if you're farming correctly or not.

- I personally never liked the idea of Lotus Crown on her, and there are better items you could put here ( Rod of Asclepius/ Spear of the Magus). Also, you don't need that many defenses in Aphrodite solo if you're playing smart and constantly have wards up/ being around a good teammate late game.

I agree with your mid build, but I would put Divine Ruin as a possible replacement for a pen item if the enemy team has a lot of healing.

Now for a personal question from aphro main to aphro main. I've been trying Warrior's Blessing on Aphrodite solo recently and I've had good results with it. I beat Erlang Shen with it, Sun Wukong and I didn't struggle as much againts a Chang'e. Have you considered it? What are your thoughts about it?

EDIT: I would actually take Gem of Isolation in the mid build over one of the pen items, but I'd build pretty much exactly like you.

FootFetish (4) | June 7, 2019 9:17am
hi sister! lol
Well, i'm really new here so idk how to get all those item and god codes oh jeez.
but i can tell you that celestial legion helm has never been an interesting pick for me, i really don't understand the passive (Removes protections when it takes damage? wut)
Lotus crown is ehh... cool, i mean she can't proc it as other gods can, but she can make a fair use of it with the mp5 and the protections are always useful! you can get other utility items, like winged blade or stuff.. meh.
yeah, you can allow yourself and get damage, since if you don't get any penetration (Magus is perfect) the lane will be boring as hell and your lategame potential will be ruined.
Aaaand yes, when i feel lucky i do play with warrior's blessing, i've even used guardian's blessing, but just in certain games, i really do like the mp5 on mage's blessing but that is something that grew up in me, warriors blessing is perfect!
And yes, gem of isolation is a good item now with the back off they wouldn't be able to even move, but thanks for the support! (wink)

ThePerfectPrism (56) | June 7, 2019 9:25am
it's simple:
Code:
[[Apollo]], [[Divine Ruin]]

will transition into:

Apollo, Divine Ruin.

Anyway!

YES, Winged Blade is such a good item and I recommend it heavily when you're playing againts a slow-heavy god! ( Bakasura, Osiris, etc).

The passive for Celestial Legion Helm gives you temporary protections, let's call them that. It pretty much makes you immune to minion damage, and since you're prob facing a warrior in solo, who'll normaly only take away 1-3 of the stacks, it pretty much gives you as much protections as Breastplate of Valor but it gives you way more magical power!

No problem sis (wink)

The classic "support" with chornos' pendant returns?
-1
FootFetish (4) | June 7, 2019 9:07am
Hey! i don't really know if that would work, i see a lot aphrodite support picks but i don't think it shows all her potential, since her ability to heal makes her a good support and without power what are you gonna heal lol, but you can get rod of asclepius. i just think cdr is better, but both are good options
1
xmysterionz (71) | June 7, 2019 9:14am
I'm not an Aphrodite specialist, but I will give my opinion for an aphro supp.

First of all, I don't think aphro can be a support, she doesn't have everything a support needs, but if I would do it, I'd mix damage and defenses (bruiser) I would build:
Shoes of Focus, Celestial Legion Helm, Void Stone, Breastplate of Valor, Oni Hunter's Garb + some utility/situational items like Rod of Asclepius, but never Chronos' Pendant, it isn't an item for supports it is for mid laners.
