Welcome to my guide for Hun Batz, the Howler Monkey

My name is Cyberhawk. I am a ranked player who primarily plays conquest. I bounce between Support, Solo, and Jungle.

This is my first smitefire guide, and I intend to update it, so feel free to comment things that should be added/edited.

Pros / Cons

Speak No Evil

  • Good burst damage
  • Good wave & camp clear
  • Excellent mobility
  • Outstanding Team-fight ultimate
    Fear No Evil
  • Very sticky, good chase
  • Always relevant, even if just to annoy
  • Squishy without defensive items
  • Very vulnerable to cripples and stuns
  • Will rarely 100-0 people
  • Only CC is his ult
  • Very hard to build with the current items

Do No Evil

- Normal Gank -
Sacred Monkey or Blink -> Fear No Evil -> Basic -> Overhand Smash -> Basic -> Somersault -> basics.

- No-Ult Gank -
Overhand Smash -> 2xBasic -> Somersault -> 2xBasic -> Sacred Monkey -> Basic -> Overhand Smash

- Team-fight -
Blink -> Fear No Evil -> Basic -> Overhand Smash -> Somersault AWAY -> wait for a runner -> Sacred Monkey -> Basic -> Overhand Smash.

The main things to practice with Hun Batz are:

The placement of your Fear No Evil
Weaving a basic between every ability
When to use Somersault vs Sacred Monkey
Sacred Monkey teleporting you to the NEXT target hit

Buy No Evil

Assassin's Blessing Needs no explanation. Hun Batz is a jungler, and has bad clear until he gets an item or 2. This is a starter item for 100% of your Conquest matches as him.

Jungle Relics

Core Items
Item 1
As with most junglers, Hun Batz is likely building Warrior Tabi. These should be your first item, always. Preferred over Talaria Boots because of his high scaling and existing mobility, but Batz can build those instead if desired for the faster rotations and mp5.

Item 2
Hydra's Lament is a match made in heaven with Infused Strikes, as well as the CDR that Hun Batz loves, and its super cheap. You should finish evolving your blessing at about the time you build this, and this is where you start to hurt.

Item 4
Hun Batz really only needs 1 crit item to be effective (with a passive 30% crit chance). Deathbringer gives you some more immediate burst and consistency, and has excellent synergy with Hydra's Lament. It actually does more damage than Malice, assuming you have built Hydra's. This should be built 4th, since while Hun Batz really doesn't come online until he has this item, the expense and other needed stats push it back.

After you build Boots and Hydra's, you have three item slots to fill. Your stats to look out for are: Penetration, CDR (roughly 30% total), Defense, and possibly Movement Speed.

This is where Hun Batz runs into issues. With only 3 item slots left, it is hard to grab everything you want, so pick 3 from:

    Relic Dagger
    30% CDR
    2 penetration items
A decent amount of health and armor

Relic dagger isn't quite tanky enough, Void Shield is a bit too expensive for what it does, and CDR is rare on hybrid items. Which one of these 4 you sacrifice is up to you, all are equally viable.

Note: There are a lot of items listed here, and as we get further into the season some may be found to not be as viable as they are on paper. I listed all items that might work on Batz, but I will trim this section down as I can.

Too many Options

Beware the Jungle (Damage)

Protection from Trickery (Defense)

Plan No Evil

Early Game

Mid Game

Late Game

Hun Batz is a great jungler, tons of fun to play, and will leave you laughing like a madman as you bonuce, leap, teleport, and monkey all around the enemy team.
Hopefully this guide gets some more people to play the god that in my opinion is one of the best and most fun Assassins in the game!

Special thanks to Zibly and his awesome Template!

Have you done the math on Malice vs DB?

I also think you should get Brawler's instead of Titans. And Transcendence seems really strong.

I think my go to build would be:
Warrior's -> Trans -> Hydra's -> Jotunn's -> Malice/DB -> Brawler's/Shifter's
40% cdr is just hilarious!

I also like getting sacred monkey at level 2 instead of the jump for the extra damage for clearing. Unless I need the jump for escaping or chasing with the slow.

Good tips with the monkey, IMO monkey usage is what makes a good Hun Batz :)
You could maybe also add that it is a great tool for escaping as well as engaging. Just the confusion about where you are can make you jump over a wall unseen in the middle of a teamfight or you can insta TP to jungle camps etc.

Also I prefer Blink first relic. Yes beads is super important, but like 90% of the time you don't need it before level 12. Sucks if you need it before level 12, and fall behind because you dont have it. But in my experience blink often rewards me with 2-3 kills before level 12 that I would not have gotten without it.

Trans can be good on him, but it delays a lot of items because you need it early, and he already struggles to get enough pen in the build

I picked Titan's in my base build because he does more Area damage than focusing a single target, and it helps against the Warriors and Guardians. Brawler's is discussed in the pen section though.

The reason to take DB over Malice is because of the synergy with Hydra's. Malice's passive is not affected by the Hydra's boost while DB is.

So with Malice the one crit after an ability is: Basic x 2.8 + .75 x power DoT

With Deathbringer the hit is: Basic x 3.64

So at level 15 with Boots + Hydra's + Jot + Crit (so basic attack is 70+Power, and you have 135/145 power)

Malice: the crit does 711 damage after the DoT finishes

DB: the crit does 746 damage
BestMinionEver (69) | February 13, 2018 1:56am
Is that a new change to Hydras? Didn't it use to be a proc just like Qin's?

But in that case DB is definitely a lot better! If you combo properly and are lucky with the crits you can easaly get in 2 AAs with in the 3 second window of Malice proc.

And I can live with the reasoning behind Titan's, but I would not go it I think. And CDR more important for my playstyle at least than pen is. When playing Hun Batz.

Nice build for hun!

Awesome guide! A definite upvote from me. But i want to ask, most assasins are not ussually for 100/0 people, right? So Hun Batz is a viable pick in Conquest, a.k.a in the META?
