Introduction

Hi everyone I am Maniel. I am a long time ps4 player and really started maining the adc role. And after maining Xbalanque while he was completely op (who didn't ;)) I looked out for alternatives and found the demonic rider Hachiman. This is my first guide and I am German, so correct me if you find mistakes. Enjoy my guide :)

Pros / Cons

Pros
- High mana regeneration with passive
- Attack speed buff on whole team
- versatile use of dash
- very safe escape ultimate
- easy engage/ kill secure with ultimate
- safe damage output of the back
- strong 1v1

Cons
- need very good aim to maximize damage potential
- can screw up escape easily
- stun not easy to apply
- need to have very good game knowledge
-> high skill gap

Skills

A nice little passive for mana sustain. With every autoattack you gain MP5 stacks upon 5 stacks. Makes the MP5 of Transcendence useless.
His first Ability is a steroid which increases his basic attacks range to 80 (normal is 55) but you do a little less damage on range which is fine. The interesting thing is that it triggers item effects and can crit. This creates a nice synergy with Poisoned Star and The Executioner.

This ability is your clear tool in lane and is a strong poke/long range damage tool, that's why most level it first. Another really nice benefit is the attack speed buff you gain when you enter the area. You can use that to push towers fast or even help a jungler like Ao Guang.
One of my main reasons why I love this god. It's a basic forward dash, but when you hit an enemy god with the dash and the circle hit he gets stunned for 1s. I love to use it very aggresively, because it can bring you out of an AoE ability behind the target and stun it and you still have the disengage with Mounted Archery. But be carefull until level 5 to only dash in if you know you are gonna win this fight.
And the 2nd reason I love him. You summon a giant horse, get cc immunity and ride into the sunshine, or do a Pentakill with your AoE bolts, depends ;). So you can use this ultimate aggresively or defensively, depending on the circumstances.
If you use it as an escape, because Arachne seems to like you watch out that you position yourself well when casting. A turn on this huge horse is rather difficult and when you run against a wall you are pretty much dead. So look at the direction you heading first.
If you use it aggresively you NEED to be aware of your damage potential. Your sacrificing your escape to secure a kill or catch up. If you know your bolt wont do enough damage ride close enough so you can hit them with your Iaijutsu. Also please dont chase worthless gods. A 0/6 Skadi is in most situations not worth it.

Items

Starting Items

Hunter's Blessing nice for any aa based hunter in lane. Spiked Gauntlet provides you a little bit of sustain in the lane so you can stay longer.

1st Back (1)

Depending on your matchup you can often stay long enough in lane to get the 1700 gold for Devourer's Gauntlet. This item gives you a lot of early game damage and lifesteal so stack it asap. Since you have nice sustain now you could already pick up wards. I would suggest to go for warrior's Tabi] since you have an attack speed buff on [[Heavenly Banner and no mana problemes because of your passive.

1st Back (2)

If you get pressured a lot or get an early gank you may have to teleport back earlier. I would suggest to buy boots to escape better and tier 2 gauntlets. Pick up some healing potions too since the lifesteal wont be enough.

Core Items

After finishing Devourer's Gauntlet] and [[Warriors's Tabi you should go for The Executioner in most cases to shred the tanks. Your Eagle Eye also makes it possible to proc this item on an long range which becomes important especially in late game. And because of this steroid I also thin that Poisened Star is way better then Wind Demon. A 20% slow and 15% damage reduction in safe distance, a huge help for teamfights. Deathbringer makes your AA crit more often for safe damage and proc.

6th Item

After you sell your Hunter's Blessing the last item is mostly situational. If the enemy team have a lot of hp go for Qin Sais, protection Titan's Bane. When you go for a lot of 1v1 2nd lifesteal with Asi is nice or Bloodforge for the 1v5. Another option is Wind Demon to get a higher crit chance for long range damage. Also the attack speed buff is nice, since you don't have it a lot.

After Boots

Depending on your choice and the team comp finish with Qin Sais (tanky comp) or Wind Demon (squishy comp). But in most cases protection and CC immunity is necessary since you get focused down by assassins like Arachne or Loki.

Relics

As a first relic Aegis Amulet is key. With your Mounted Archery you have already CC immunity. But since you can use it often as a engage/ kill secure in late game beads to don't get one shot is nice. Another option would be Bracer of Undoing to stop one hits and to confuse the one hit assassins ^^.

Why Crit?

So as already teasered the main reason is his Eagle Eye. You can hard crit of a far distance and proc Poisoned Star. The only reason to go for penetration and attack speed would be on a really tanky enemy composition with 4 tanks.

Summary

I hope you liked the guide so far. I will add more things and improve the design with the time. I would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks :)

Hello, here are some points to think about (and change/fix) on your guide:
  • There's no need to buy Mana Potions on Hachiman. His passive + a little mana management is more than enough to keep you with a good mana pool the entire game.

  • Your item options lack items with good relevance for this season like Asi, Ichaival, Rage...

  • I strongly recommend you make 2 separate builds, one with crits and other with high AS and Qin's Sais. I also recommend you rearrange the way you show the items to make something more clear, like what is core (in order), item options (to finish the build) and then situational items.

  • I would or finish Devourer's Gauntlet or finish Warrior Tabi first. In you "first back item options" you start both items which is not optimal in smite most part of the times. I'd suggest you finish the gauntlet first if you are dominating the farm/got kills and you are ahead or finish boots first if you died and got behind.

Holy **** the Cupid Guy commenting on my Guide that's awesome XD. Getting a lot of Inspiration of your Guide^^. I will optimize this guide asap, trying to do my best. Another quetion I see Rage strength in this meta but how is it viable on him? I would personally prefer a Wind Demon.

So I think it can go either way, but it depends on how much the enemy counter-builds you, and how much AS you're going to have in the rest of your build.

Rage provides 40% crit chance at max stacks. That's 20% higher than WD. As Hachiman has a situational steroid (though fairly weak in comparison to gods like Rama/Art, even with 2x standing in the range of the banner), he might not need quite as much AS as some other gods. Keep in mind also, when going into WD, you usually go 3x crit, as WD, DB, and PS. If you so choose, going Rage/DB means you don't have to necessarily itemize into a 3rd crit item. Instead, you can consider other utility, e.g. Asi, Ichaival, Bloodforge, etc.

Now the first thing I see is that you're not declaring your suggestion of Warrior Tabi or Ninja Tabi in the top area. You DO mention your suggestion of Warrior in the item writeup below due to not having many mana issues and because he has a steroid, and I agree. But it would be good to include Warrior as part of the initial core. I agree with Myst that you might just get rid of your "first back" suggestion. You might back when you have enough for a full item, or you may decide it's dangerous and you want to finish your Tabi before finishing Gauntlet...and you may not need to buy those potions, etc.. Not defining your first back allows for better flexibility.

Anyway, back to the concept of Rage. You're going to get incredibly consistent crits if you go Rage to DB. Sure, you don't get the same boost of MS and AS with WD, but you can consider that late if you want in the Rage build.

And although you don't need the mana from Ninja, without AS in Rage/DB, you would probably want Ninja in that build direction. Devo's, Ninja, Rage, Exe, DB as first 5 items. With the higher crit chance in these 5 items, you have an opportunity for higher burst damage if you get the stun from an Iai. Those are the situations I really like Rage...burst damage potential. Combo from Medusa, steroid activation for Art, 1-2 combo from Chern.

Anyway, if you don't like Rage, you don't have to include it, but it can be viable, just partially depends on the enemy comp and how ahead you are in the match. I'd suggest trying it in a few matches and seeing how you like it. If you still prefer WD, stay with it. This is your build. But as an FYI, if considering a roughly equivalent enemy target (70ish protections), Devo's/Ninja/Exe/Rage/DB/WD has higher DPS potential than Devo's/Warrior/Exe/PS/DB/WD...by over 100 DPS. Of course, PS provides some utility Rage does not, so there's always that to consider as well.

DPS Calcs

If we consider current popularity, crit isn't even it. Hachi is seeing good amount of play, but almost no one is going crit. They're doing the early O-Bow thing in a Qin's-based build. Some people are doing the double-lifesteal thing with Asi. Etc.
