You can choose the start item according to your preferences but the Gauntlet of Thebes is stong this season.

It is a standart hybrid build. The gauntlet is a core item it serves you from start to finish. The boots of focus are interesting because your skills take a long time to recover. The Stone of Binding is cool, it is hybrid and don't cost much. Pridwen is an important item because your ultimate charges wich you're static so enemies have time to plan an assault to weaken you as possible. Mantle of Discord give you important protection. Finish start item, sell shoes (buy the elixir) and take the Winged Blade (to have less control). You will tank for quite a while with this build but it's not the final build. Finally sell the stone and take a situational item. Core item: the Gauntlet and the Pridwen.

Fafnir isn't bad in this season 8. I am not a pro gamer (now I don't do one ranked with Fafnir, I prefer fun game).
He generally against the gods who do gamage (anubis hate you if you use your skills defensively).
Combos are easy to do, there isn't a series of skills to do precisely.
Your 3rd skill can go throught walls so it's hard to follow a fleeing Fafnir.
When Fafnir turns into a dragon, he is invicible, but when he turns into a human, he is vulnerable so be carefull. You can use your ultimate to dodge an other ultimate (for exemple the ultimate of ra or of thanatos).
Don't forget: your passive means that the longer you stay on the lane, the more resistant you are.
I don't have many info for Fafnir mid, just have fun :)
Fafnir mid isn't a troll, the majorityof mages and adc hate your controls and your immunity. Fafnir mid is more strong than Fafnir solo because warrior or guardian your controls disturb them but not as much the mid laner.
Excuse me for my bad english (I'm a little too lazy to reread everything I just did), I am frensh: is normal if you are shock that I'm so bad at this language.
