Introduction

Hi everyone, my name is x MysTeRioN z. I started playing Smite with him and since this I haven't stopped. I play this game on Xbox one and I`m here to help you play with this little cute guy that can be very annoying and a really demon for the enemy team.

Note that this is my first build so don't be so tough with me. I am open for suggestions to make this even better.

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Good individual damage
(He can have both Attack speed and power, making him a Killing machine in end game)

  • Good cooldowns
(They aren't low but aren't too high)

  • Good chaser
(Can kill easily someone trying to escape since he have a skill that do a considerate dash and put, literally, a bomb that can't be remove on the target (Heart Bomb) and it can stun the target to finish him if he didn't die.

  • Very good teamwork
(If you aren't the killing machine you are the assist machine providing A LOT OF kills to your which is also good (except for your ego))

  • High sustain in battle
(With the lifesteal, the skill Share the Love, a decent dash and some "play safe", only a really good gank or engage with more than 1 person can kill you and remember you can counter ganks with wards and the most part of enemy engages are predictable)

  • A big trouble if use in the right way
(People usually underestimate Cupid's power, thinking he is only a farm (which is not true but isn't a lie). But the point is You can reach almost 400 basic attack damage firing almost 2 arrows per sec with a bomb that can't be removed and slows the enemy, also you can heal yourself from part of the damage you take and if the enemy tries to escape alive you can do dash on him and fire a large radius field that slows him and he can't use any escape while in it stopping him when explode. For any other character that isn't a Guardian or Warrior, this is more than enough to kill hiw easily.)

  • Heals the team and himself
(It can be helpful to the team but for you is VERY HELPFUL 'cause since you play safe, you don't take a lot of damage and the damage you take can be easily restored with it)

  • Has a good escape
(Your dash is fast and you travel a good distance)

  • Very cute and lovely
(The cutest voice lines and a such adorable character. Also gives you love advices: "Love is a Battlefield")

Cons

  • Very squishy
(Dies very fast to almost everyone in the game and absolutely, any debuff can be the sentence to death to him, such a simple 1s stun or some crowd control such as slow. That's the reason you should play safe)

  • Your heal is not powerful enough
(For you it's ok, but for the team, any other healer do this job better than him)

  • Escape is on his attack speed skill
(Almost every Hunter has a skill that buffs his attack speed and Cupid is not different, but here, it is on your escape forcing you choose kill faster or play safe. And in the early game is a such big cooldown (16s). Also everyone who plays against a Cupid (that knows how Cupid works) when see you used Flutter knows you are without escapes and go to attack).

  • Mesmerize effect in his ultimate is stopped if the enemy takes any kind of damage.
(If it was a Stun will be very good, but I think it's gonna be OP, anyway, this is useful only if you are alone and trying to escape from some so you slow the target and do mesmerize gaining time to escape or if the target are far from you and you need to get near him to don't loose it)

  • The skills will be removed even when you miss it
(You fired Fields of Love wrong or Heart Bomb or even someone stopped your dash, it goes ANYWAY)

  • Very hard to play alone
(You need your team or at least a teammate with you to play nice, preferentially the Suport.)

  • Too much Mid-Late Game
(Cupid only shines in mid to late game when your stacks and critics are done, before this, he needs a lot of game sense and you can only attack in the right moments or will be a farm bag to the enemy team)

Skills

Lovestruck

Type: Passive

Cupid stacks a heart with each basic attack (max 8 stacks). You have the following additional effects with the stacks:
  • Each heart stacked will increase in 2% your skills damage
  • Each heart stacked will increase in 2% your heal
When all the 8 hearts are stacked you gain:
  • Mesmerized effect on his ultimate is doubled (1.5 secs to 3 secs).
  • Heart bomb when explode now will cause stun on all targets in the area.
(This two skills will ALWAYS consume all stacks even when it's not at max.)

TIPS

  • Try always stay at maximum stacks 'cause it makes you stronger, so put in your mind that stacks the 8 hearts is the priority before you do anything else.
  • You will listen a lovely sound and a heart will follow you when you are fully stacked.

Heart Bomb

Type: Projectile

Cupid will fire an arrow with a heart. The target with the heart will loose 20% of movement speed. After 3 seconds, the heart will explode causing damage to the target and all enemies in the area. If your passive is fully stacked, the explosion will cause stun to all enemies in the area.

TIPS

  • I think this skill is the core of Cupid. To play nice you will need master this.
  • Use this to help you clear minions waves at the beginning of the match.
  • You can use this on a target that is running away from the battle to kill him but play safe, if you are not sure don`t chase the enemy.
  • Only shoot this if you are SURE you will hit the target. Remember even if you miss the skill will be removed.
  • Try to ALWAYS stack your passive before shooting this to have more damage and a stun effect, but don't let an enemy go away if it`s not fully stacked and you're sure you will kill him with the heart
  • Remember that this skill will ALWAYS consume all the stacks even when it`s not fully stacked.
  • The arrow has a slow speed and a range, so pay attention to learn how fire it, sometimes you will need do a predict to hit the target.

Share the Love

Type: Ground Target

Cupid will fire 3 hearts on the ground that heals allies or himself. If an ally get it, it will regenerate Cupid`s mana.

TIPS

  • Try always use this with your passive fully charged 'cause you heal more 2% by each heart stacked.
  • Always fire it where your teammates can see and get it.
  • In assault, this is very useful, you heal yourself and your teammates and when heals your teammates you get mana, so it sustains you very well.
  • Remember YOU ARE NOT A HEALER, so don`t trust too much on your heal, and say to your team don't do it too. You JUST HELP with this heal, but you are not a HEL or APHRODITE.
  • Use this to restore your mana when you need. Each heart restores 30 mana and the skill costs 50 so if your teammates get all hearts you will gain 90 mana. If you have stacks from your passive, you'll gain more mana.
  • This skill don't increase the cost by level uping.
  • This skill DO NOT consume your stacks from your passive, so use it free.

Flutter

Type: Dash

Cupid dashes forward leaving a trail that increases all allies movement speed when above and also increase Cupid attack speed when he is above it.

TIPS

  • Just saying, Cupid can be interrupted while doing the dash (it isn't like Agni's Dash).
  • Be careful using this 'cause Cupid WILL ALWAYS dashes forward even when you aren't moving forward.
  • This is your escape, so don't throw it like it's nothing, this skill is your only chance to survive if someone chases you.
  • Use this to gain attack speed if you need to kill something fast
  • Use this to help some teammate escape or the opposite, to help him get in the fight just like a taxi.
  • This is the only skill of Cupid that don't have any connection with the passive so use it without thinking in your hearts stacked.
  • You can use this to chase an enemy, just don't be suicide going into the enemy team just to kill one guy.
  • This skill don't increase the cost by level uping and you decrease the cooldown by 1s per level.

Fields of Love

Type: Ground Target (Ultimate)

Cupid fires arrows with hearts in a large radius circle in the ground, preventing enemies from use movement skills and slowing all the targets in 35%. After some seconds the arrows will explode causing damage and a mesmerize effect on the targets.

TIPS

  • This is the most powerful Cupid's Weapon 'cause everything in this skill is good (Damage, cooldown and the debuffs) so use it wisely, especially in the late game, where this skill can do/help in a Deicide (Kill the entire enemy team).
  • All enemies inside the range CAN'T use escapes so fire it when you are near the target so you can combo with Heart Bomb and basic attacks killing almost everything that doesn't have any protections.
  • Try to combo it with your heart bomb and you will kill almost everyone, 'cause you will slow the target in 55%, you did damage by hitting the Heart Bomb, you will do damage by the explode from the heart, will do damage by the field exploding and you will have stun from the heart (if you were fully stacked) and the mesmerized effect. If all of this don't kill, just fire some basic attacks and it's done. Using this combo there is a 85% chance of killing at least one enemy.
  • This skill is nice with Odin's Ultimate, Scylla Ultimate, Ares Ultimate and others. Combining with other players skills the chance of success increase to 90~96%.
  • Since this ultimate slows movement speed you could use when are getting away from an enemy chasing you.
  • Try always fire it at the center of the enemy making very hard to escape from it.
  • If you fire it too much near the limits of the map, the circle will loose a big part of it.
  • I will recommend you put the Cupid skills as "instantaneous" in settings but this skill I recommend you let it in the "default" 'cause you can see the Fields before firing.
  • This skill WILL ALWAYS consume your hearts stacked from the passive, even when it's not full.

Skills Combos

+

Flutter + Heart Bomb

Excellent to chase an enemy with low health that is trying to escape. Be careful using this 'cause you won't have any escape until flutter comes back. If you are trying to escape, you can invert the order to stun an enemy chasing you and use your dash to go away from him.

Excellent to chase more than one enemy that is trying to escape OR to go quickly into the fight. Hit many targets with Fields of Love and focus on 1 with the heart bomb and your basic attacks. I STRONGLY recommend that you fire the Heart bomb first and then the Fields of Love 'cause if you are fully stacked, it's better the stun from heart bomb than the mesmerize effect doubled. You have to fire the heart and next (very fast) the Fields. Be careful using this 'cause you won't have any escape until Flutter comes back.

+

Flutter + Fields of Love

Excellent to chase enemies that are going away and you are not sure if will hit the Heart Bomb. If you are trying to escape and there is enemies chasing you, you can fire Fields of Love at your position and do a dash to escape, If the enemy don't have a skill to go forward, you'll have a safe escape.

+

Heart Bomb + Fields of Love

Excellent to kill someone that is near to you or try to escape of you after loose a fight. Very good chance to kill someone if combined with some basic attacks. If you fail to kill the target, use the Flutter to go away. This combo is very powerful in the early game.

Counter/Be countered by/Combos

Strong Against

  • Apolo
Your Heart Bomb can easily kill an Apolo trying to escape with his Ultimate (When he calls his chariot to come and take him away). Since Heart Bomb can't be removed and Apollo can't move while calling for the chariot, you will hit him, he will waste his ultimate and you will get a easy kill and also it's very funny see him dies in the skies.

  • Neith
Watch out only with the Spirit Arrow and her passive, besides it, Neith can be easily killed by a Cupid and even if she uses Back Flip, you can use Flutter. Just don't be suicide.

  • Ra
Since Ra don't have a escape skill and only have 2 Skills that do heavy damage and both can be countered just by moving around, he is a very nice target. Just remember Ra become fast if he use his 3 skills so be careful to don't loose your target. Also, your power is much more strong than his heal.

  • Scylla
One of the most squishy mages that is totally dependent of her skills. If Scylla miss her skills it's almost a certain kill. Be careful at late game where you countered her and is countered by her since she will be VERY STRONG SO and you also are squishy.

  • Cerberus
Cerberus almost every time do less protections than other guardians and his life steal is not that functional on you. You can do a simply dash and there heal yourself. Also he don't do a lot of damage so it's easy play against him.

  • Hou Yi
Hou Yi makes a good fight against Cupid but in my opinion the God of Love takes this fight. The combo Heart Bomb and Fields of Love (where Hou Yi can't escape) is very nice and kills him very fast and also Hou Yi ultimate is very strong but you can do a Simple dash and you got out of it. Just saying, Hou Yi can take a critic only 3s after a critic so against him, do only one critical strike item and change the other critical items in penetration or power such as Bloodforge.

Weak Against

  • Cernunnos
Is someone that isn't weak against him? Cernunnos has a lifesteal in his skills also makes you become a pig, do a lot of damage, roots you and has a very good attack speed. Do I need to say anything more?

  • Loki
Is someone that isn't weak against him? He just press a button and do A LOT OF DAMAGE on you, can makes you take continuous damage by bleeding, becomes invisible so your ward is useless. Do I need to say anything more?

  • Ne Zha
He just go hits you, if you try to escape he put a row on you going to your new position and have a very hard combo to kill that he need to press his ultimate button (Y on xbox). Basically, you can't escape and he kills you with just one button (even Loki is harder). And yes, it's HE, not SHE.

  • Scylla
You kill she easy and she kills you easy too. You can stun her and she can root you. At end game you kill her with 3 basic attacks and she kills you with a single skill. A good fight, isn't? Just go carefully to kill her.

  • Kumbhakarna
Stuns, stuns and stuns every minute and roots. The 2 things every Cupid hates to take. He won't kill you, but will open a big door for his team do it. Also he debuffs your attack speed if you awake from his stun early. (I know it's a mesmerize, but is so annoying that looks like a stun)

  • Khepri
Can root you and take you near him. A Magi's Blessing is a must item if fighting against him or will die a lot of times because he got you.

  • Cu Chulainn
Only two things to say to this character: Do a lot of damage and heals a lot himself. It's a really hell fight against it.

Good Combos

  • Ares
Fire Fields of Love and then someone brings the enemies to it. That's is the combo. Also when your father (Ares) brings the enemies you can fire the Heart Bomb and the Fields of Love, doing stun and a lot of damage. This combo become less efective at mid and late game 'cause the enemies will not group up, but you can catch 2 or 3 people. Also pay attention if all the enemies used Purification Breeds or you will loose your ultimate. Fire the Fields of Love a little before Ares bring the enemies for maximum chances of success, but be careful, if you fire too early will loose the skill.

  • Odin
Catch the enemy, lock in a circle and prevent him from escape, that is what will happen if Odin (Ring of Spears) combine with Cupid (Fields of Love). Plus the enemy will take a debuff in his attack speed.

  • Tyr
Tyr brings someone, you put the Heart Bomb, stuns the target and if the target starts to run for his life you fire Fields of Love and...You got a Kill. I recommend you only use Fields of Love if the enemy start to escape or is someone full of protections, because it's not necessary in other cases.

  • Fenrir
Same as Tyr. Bring the guy, fire the Heart Bomb, basic attacks, fire Fields of Love if still alive and is escaping.

  • Poseidon
Slows everyone with Fields of Love when it explode Poseidon brings the Kraken dealing a lot of damage and if it stay alive, some basic attacks or Heart Bomb may solve it.

  • Aphrodite
Pocket Healer. A beautiful duo for Siege or Joust. Your weakness is that you die fast, so if you have a powerful heal, you won't die and will be a killing machine. Of course Son and Mother will be a good duo.

  • Zeus
Zeus will put the clouds firing lightings on the target (his ultimate) and you put the Fields of Love slowing them and making the enemies take more damage from Zeus. If Zeus don't kill, the Fields of Love exploding will.

  • Hades
Basically, you lock the enemy on Hades ultimate, 'cause the enemy can't use escape skills while in your Fields of Love, so they will have a suffering death to Hades or/and anyone helping killing and if they stay alive, they die for the Fields of Love explosion.

  • Ganesha
Ganesha's Ultimate deal damage and slows the enemies that try to escape walking, so you can fire Fields of Love in this enemies and they will be so slow that a Turtle is faster than them, perfect targets, and just some basic attacks and the Heart Bomb...That's a kill (or more).

  • Ymir
He will freeze the enemy then you fire basic attacks and the Heart Bomb. If the enemy escapes alive, Fields of Love on him and it's a certain death to him.

  • Khepri
Brings the enemy near where you can fire the Heart Bomb or He can root the enemies for you fire the Fields of Love, and also he can revive you if you died. Very nice combo.

  • Cerberus
Same as Ares. Bring the enemies, fire Fields of Love, fire Heart Bomb, basic attacks and you get the kill. Just be careful 'cause Cerberus' ultimate is faster than Ares, so fire Fields of Love a little early.

I could put almost everyone in the game here because How I said, Cupid has a very good team work, and his skills works very well combined with almost every other character. I just chose the Gods that I think that's ALMOST a certain kill doing the combo successfully.

How to play with him

Introduction

Cupid, God of Love, a very nice and funny God to play. He does damage, he heals, he stuns, he helps the team. So in this topic, I will help you know how to do everything with him. If you haven't read the Skills right above, I suggest you do it before stars here.

Early Game

Cupid is very squishy how I said, so at the beginning, I strongly recommend you play passive but with attention to don't die. You are weak and do some damage, but not that much, so I recommend you do the jungle to get the power or the attack speed. Notice you can't even clear a minion wave without help or wasting the Heart Bomb and take a considerate damage from the minions, so DON'T STAY ALONE while moving through the map, play always with some teammate. In team fights, don't go too much closer, try participate from some safe distance and prepare your dash if some enemy focus you. DON'T CHASE AN ENEMY IF YOU ARE NOT SURE YOU'LL KILL, just go if you have the Heart Bomb or Fields of Love and you hit the target. DON'T GO IF THE ENEMY HAVE TEAMMATES NEAR HIM. Prefer to don't try and stay alive instead of dying trying and feed the enemy. Don't forget to use your heal on your teammates to get mana.

Mid Game

Now you become sustainable and do a decent damage, probably you are killing a minions wave without problems (even if you use the heart bomb). I recommend you stay playing passive, but a little less passive than before. REMEMBER THAT OBJECTIVES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN KILLS, so try to push your objectives and helps your teammates to push their (If you're playing arena, try to escort the cyclops and minions to the portal). ALWAYS try to participate of your team's fight, 'cause your skills ARE VERY USEFUL to the team.

End Game

With the full build you are stronger than ever, but the enemies too so stay with your friends and go to the finals objectives. Now you can be a little less passive than the Mid but DON'T BE TOO AGGRESSIVE or will die faster. Stay with your team helping them and now, more than ever, participate in the team fights combining their ultimates with yours and with your skills.

So:

  • Play defensive with Cupid is always the better choice.
  • Always play with a teammate to better chances of success.
  • Heal your team to get mana and help them.
  • Heal yourself to stay in battle for more time.
  • Remember you die fast to almost everyone in the game so try to don't fight alone
  • Only chases enemies that you are sure you'll kill and if there aren't other threads
  • If the enemy didn't do any kind of physical protection, he is a nice target to be focused.

Obs.: Change the skills from "default" to "instantaneous" in settings to get better responses (except Fields of Love and the Heart Bomb).

Cupid in the Game Modes

Introduction

Here I will say what change in Cupid depending of what you are playing. Please, read the topic "How to play with him" before this.

Conquest

- Priorize do penetration and if possible critics.
In conquest, you are very weak in early game so you should play safe as well, but be careful with the map, it's very big and there is a lot of routes so the enemy can catch you from many ways. Just priorize the Physical penetration than critics 'cause there are 6 towers and 3 phoenixes so it will help you eliminate them. If there is a mage in the other team that heals a lot, do Brawler's Beat Stick to neutralize part of his heal. I did a specific build for this mode, check it at the beginning.
If there is a Support (Guardian) asks to him do Shogun's Kusari that increase allies attack speed in 25%, it will helps you a lot.
I strongly recommend you don't stay alone in this mode in the mid/late game. Stay with someone to better chances of survive. In end game, when you and your team are running to do the last objectives stay together and you behind them. Always group up in the end game 'cause just one death can change everything.
TOGETHER YOU ARE STRONGER.
ALWAYS REMEBER: OBJECTIVES > KILLS. If you didn't kill a lot but helped a lot with the objectives, that is what matters.

Assault

- Priorize stop healing from enemy team, healing and some protection.
It's unusual see a Cupid in Assault, but if it happens, priorize do physical penetration and items to counter the enemy healers (if there is). Don't go in fights that you are at disadvantage like 4 vs 5. Go carefully to kill someone 'cause your team will miss you a lot in a team fight. I did a specific build for this mode, check it at the beginning.
- I already said it but I will repeat 'cause it's one of the keys to success to play Assault well with Cupid: Always throw your hearts to your team get because it will help them and you. They will regenerate their health and you will regenerate your mana, so it makes you high sustain in battle. And seriously, don't throw them near the enemy/where your team don't see or only will loose mana. Also be careful to don't make a bait to your teammates.
Remember that you CAN'T RETURN TO BASE AT ANY CIRCUNSTANCIES. You can only buy your items if you die and there is a large time to respawn.
AND REMEMBER, OBJECTIVES > KILLS

Arena, Joust and Clash

- Priorize do a lot of damage and, if necessary some protection.
Here I recommend you use the a lot of damage and critics 'cause in this games killing enemies helps a lot do the objective and there isn't so many objectives.
AND REMEMBER, OBJECTIVES > KILLS (Except at Arena)

Build 1: Arena, Joust and Clash

Introdution

This is my main build to him in Arena, Joust and Clash, I only do some changes depending who I am playing against.
I don't recommend you do the Start on Arena, I recommend you rush the Final Build in this game mode.

Transcendence

Gives you power, mana and MP5 but the most important, for each stack you will gain more 15 mana and 3% of your total mana will be converted in physical power. Also when fully stacked you will have a big mana pool so you won't need any consumable or mana buff.

Ninja Tabi

I use this item as inicial the most part of time, it gives you movement speed and nice power, perfect at the beginning. This can be changed to Warrior Tabi, but you will loose some mana and attack speed to gain power. I don't recommend you do Ninja if you intend to do Odysseu's Bow. This is a "must item" (Ninja or Warrior).

The Crusher

Gives you power, penetration, and attack speed. Every basic attack will remove 1s from your skills cooldown (reactivate after 5s). You are doing basic attacks to stack your passive so it will helps to get your ultimate even faster. You can change it in Odysseu's Bow to gain a Lightning Chain and attack speed that will help you stack but will loose some power and the penetration.

Titan's Bane

Now I suggest you do some penetration because if the enemy team have a brain and you are being a really trouble (Not necessary killing, but giving a lot of damage, stunning...) they will do some protection against you and if you're playing Joust and Clash, it's nice do this to help in the objectives. In Arena, you can rush to do the following critical items first (If the enemy aren't doing physical protections). The Executioner works well too.

Deathbringer

If you followed all this items, you noticed your Cupid is STRONG right now, such as any hunter should be, and with this item, he'll become REALLY STRONG. Now you will be firing almost 2 arrows per second and now 1 of 5 arrows will be critical hits (if you'll Rage and fully stack it, will be more than 3 of 5 arrows critical hits), and with each critical you fire more arrows and move faster. I think in this game mode it's very important 2 critical items, so I considerate 2 perfect. More than 2 it's not necessary and less than it is not enough, but that's my opinion. If you aren't seeking critics, put other item in situational itens.

Wind Demon

If you are seeking Critical Damages, this is a "must item" (I'm talking about a second critical strike item). This item will gives Cupid a little attack speed, power and critical chances, but the most important, this item passive (Each critical hit will gives you movement speed and attack speed in 20%) combined with the Deathbringer will make you a REALLY trouble. If you are not seeking critics change it in Asi (if you didn't do) to steal even more life making you harder to kill if you are hitting some enemy, so it's makes you very high sustain in battle in case enemy team is focusing you. But if you changed Devourer's Gauntlet in Asi, I strongly recommend you do Rage instead of this item 'cause your attack speed will be too high and the Rage passive will makes you do much more critics, and that's is much more helpful in this situation. Also Rage makes you fire more critics so if you feel like your movement and attack speed are enough, do Rage.

At the end of this build, probability you will KILL EVERYONE that don't have physical protections with 4 ~ 7 basic attacks and even the ones that have you will do a considerate damage to them, you probably will be firing almost 2 arrows per second and do at least 2 critical hits for each 5 arrows fired (3 of 5 if you did Rage). Also you have your skills that do a considerate damage too and stuns or do mesmerize effect, so, in the end game you become REALLY, REALLY STRONG and A BIG TROUBLE to the enemy team with this build BUT YOU STILL SQUISHY, unfortunately with Cupid, you have to choose be strong or don't be squishy, so don't be too aggressive thinking you will tank or will kill everyone.

Build 1: Situational Items

Introduction

Understand that situational items may have items that also work well in the build, there aren't only situational item. It's recommend you read the description that contains the reason of the choice and maybe some tips or which item should be changed.

Sometimes the Main Build won't work as well by many circunstancies, like enemy healers, take too much damage, taking stuns all the time, dying a lot, high enemy physical protection...So here there are other items to help you in this situations. Feel free to change what you think it is useless at the build and some items I make suggestion to change by others.
First, you have to understand 4 steps before changing any item:
  1. What is the problem?
  2. What item won't help me or aren't helping me with this problem?
  3. What is the best item below that better solves my problem?
  4. Will I loose something very important to this match changing this item?
If you answer all this question in the right way, you will change the right item and the new one will helps you a lot.

Protections Items

If you are dying too much or taking too much damage and always is in low health, put one of this in your build. I don't recommend more than one item 'cause your Cupid will become weak in do damage (your objective as Hunter).

Hide of the Urchin

Gives you some mana, health, magical and physical protection that increase by each God kill or assist you do (max 10). Cupid is easy to get assists so even when you are not being a serial killer will help you stay alive.

Shifter's Shield

Gives Cupid a nice protection when you are dying and also gives power when you are not. Recommended in Assault and Arena.

Magi's Blessing

Since you are squishy, one stun can open a chance to the enemy kill you without problems, so if taking to much stuns or other types of control, this item is for you. This item gives health, some physical and magical protection and absorbs a hard control on you giving you immunity for 1s after that with a reasonable cooldown. Recommended only if you are dying by enemies controls (stuns for example).

Damage items

Some matches it's better make other items such as something to stop healing, penetration, lifesteal and others. This kind of items that works well with Cupid are below.

Asi

Gives you attack speed and some penetration. But this item is good in lifesteal. Gives you 20% as an addition lifesteal and if you drop below 35% of your health you gain more 25% (45% in total). Combined with the Devourer's Gauntlet fully stacked you will gain 69% of lifesteal when in low health. Perfect to make you high sustain in battle and if there is some assassin trying to kill you such as Loki, you can combine some basic attacks with Heart Bomb and Fields of Love and you probably will kill him and will stay with a good amount of life. Combining this with the main build will make you VERY VERY VERY SUSTAINABLE, so, put this item if someone is focusing you.

Titan's Bane

You can change The Executioner in this item if the enemy is doing many physical protections. With this, you will penetrate in 30% their protection. Also gives you power but you will loose some attack speed.

Odysseu's Bow

This item passive (with each 4 basic attacks you do a chain lightning causing damage to enemies near of your last attack) will help you a lot with stack items. You can do this item as a 3rd or 2nd to gain attack speed fast and the passive.

Qin's Sais

You can change Odysseu's Bow in this item. You will loose some attack speed but will gain more power. With this item, the enemy god will take as additional damage 4% of his maximum life in your basic attacks.

Brawler's Beat Stick

Gives you power and penetration. A "must item" if the enemy have some God that heals a lot like HEL or APHRODITE 'cause it makes everyone hit by your skills receive 40% less heal for 8secs. Notice that without this item it's VERY HARD to kill people because they receive a lot of heal.

Rage

Gives you power and Critical strike chances. This item is nice to Cupid 'cause will do more critical strike chances than any other. Gives you 20% chances and for each kill or assist gives you more 1%, with 5 kills or assists you gain more 10% bonus. So you will have 35% chances to do a Critical. Combined with other items such as Wind Demon or Deathbringer, half of your attacks will be critics.

Warrior Tabi

Gives you more power than ninja but you loose the attack speed and the extra mana.

Build 2: Conquest

Introdution

This is my main build to Conquest. You have two options to start, check them in the start

Start

You start with a Inicial item that gives you 8 health and 4 mana for each basic attack that you hit and with the first item to do Transcendence and some mana potions. You don't start with health potions but with the Item you did you can hold on until Share the Love is ready.

Alternative Start

I use this start to get Transcendence faster and start to stack as soon as possible to become stronger. You start with extra power, mana and MP5, and 2 healing potions to stay in battle until your skill Share the Love is ready. You also go with 4 mana potions to hold on until have enough money to buy some boot and the Transcendence. Nice if the enemy that will stay in your route must play passive in early game too such as Jing Wei or another Cupid.

Both starts works well in Cupid.

Transcendence

Gives you power, mana and MP5 but the most important, for each stack you will gain more 15 mana and 3% of your total mana will be converted in physical power.

Ninja Tabi

Gives you mana, attack speed and some power. You can change it with Warrior Tabi loosing the mana and attack speed. I like this item 'cause gives attack speed and mana (that will be converted in physical power with Transcendence).

Titan's Bane

Will gives you a nice penentration that works against the objectives. Due the number of objectives you will fight against, this is very necessary.

Bloodforge

You gain a very nice power and lifesteal will help you be sustainable in battle. The passive helps you stay alive 'cause when you kill an enemy you gain a shield and move 10% faster.

Qin's sais

Gives you some attack speed and power and also this item passive (On basic attack hits, deal Physical Damage equal to 4% of the target's maximum Health (Only God's)) helps you be more powerful.

Rage

As the last item, I suggest you do a Critical Strike Item. If you don't want critics change this item in Titan's Bane (If you didn't do) or other item that gives power, attack speed or penetration, or even a protection item. I choose Rage 'cause it's gives you 20% chances of do critical hit and for each kill or assist it increase in 1%, with 5 kills or assists, you gain a bonus of 10%. In total you will have 35% chances of critic, more than any other critical strike item. Deathbringer also works well doing less critics but your critics are stronger, the choice is yours.

Alternative Build

The alternative build change 2 items from the original and work as well as the main but in this build you just will take a little more time farming and stacking. Transcendence and Ninja Tabi (or Warrior Tabi) stay here in the same position. Here is the items that change and what they do.

Devourer's Gauntlet

This item will gives you much more lifesteal than Bloodforge if you stack all the 70 stacks and you wont't loose so much power (gives you 65 power when fully stacked). You only need patience to stack 70 minions (remember that you have to stack Transcendence that is 50 stacks too). Very nice if the match is calm and you can farm without problems.

Titan's Bane

With this, you will penetrate in 30% their protection and works on the objectives. Almost a "must item" due the number of objectives in conquest.

The Crusher

In this build, this item will help you with the penetration and the passive, that will help you get your skills faster.

Deathbringer

Here I choose this item just to show that it work as well as Rage. You do less critics but your critics are stronger.

With both build you will be VERY STRONG and will be able to do your job in Conquest (carry the team in the end game) BUT YOU STILL SQUISHY, unfortunately with Cupid, you have to choose be strong or don't be squishy, so don't be too aggressive

Build 2: Situational Items

Introduction

Understand that situational items may have items that also work well in the build, there aren't only situational item. It's recommend you read the description that contains the reason of the choice and maybe some tips or which item should be changed.

Same as the build 1 and 2. Understand the 4 steps and rush the right item
The 4 questions to be answered:

Cupid dies very fast so it's nice do some protection if you are being focused.

Hide of the Urchin

Gives you some mana, health, magical and physical protection that increase by each God kill or assist you do (max 10). Cupid is easy to get assists so even when you are not being a serial killer will help you stay alive. Remember that your 3% of mana will be converted in power (If you did Transcendence) so you gain protections and gain a little power.

Shifter's Shield

Gives Cupid a nice protection when you are dying and also gives power when you are not.

Damage items

Some matches it's better make other items such as something to stop healing, penetration, lifesteal and others. This kind of items that works well with Cupid are below.

Witchblade

Gives you health, cooldown reduction, attack speed and movement speed. I Strongly recommend you use this when there is more than 1 hunter on the enemy team or when playing conquest. This item will reduce enemy attack speed within 55 units from you. Now think, in early/mid game you stay alone against the other Hunter in conquest, so it's not that useful, but in the end game, when the teams walk together, it's a nice item. You also will become very fast with it useful since conquest map is very big and to get away from threads. Let this as a late game item.

Brawler's Beat Stick

Same as in the Build 1. Gives you power and penetration and stop part of the enemy healing. A must item if there are Gods that heals in the enemy team.

Build 3: Assault

Introdution

This is my main build to Assault. I focus in high sustain in battle with power and penetration.

Start

You start with Jotunn's Wrath giving you power, mana penetration and the most important, COOLDOWN. Also get some boots and mana potions. I don't recommend healing potions 'cause you can heal yourself from your skill Share the Love. And of course, you get Meditation's Cloak. Everything you need to stay high sustain in battle.

Jotunn's Wrath

A very nice item to start in Assault. You gain nice buffs and a very nice cooldown that is very helpful with Share the Love to heal you and your team more often. Also your Ultimate, which is very useful in this mode, decrease to 72 secs (it was 90 secs) .

Ninja Tabi

Gives you mana, attack speed and some power. You can change it with Warrior Tabi loosing the mana and attack speed. I like this item 'cause gives attack speed and mana, helping being high sustain.

The Crusher

Gives you power, attack speed and 15 penetration. But this item passive (with basic attacks you decrease in 1 secs all your skils (activate in every 5 secs)) you will become really strong, 'cause your ultimate will be ready sooner and helps you with Share the Love, healing your teammmates and yourself.

Qin's Sais

Gives you a good power and some attack speed and the passive is very useful giving you 4% of enemy gods life as damage in basic attacks. You can change it in Bloodforge.

Titan's Bane

Gives you a lot of penetrations and some power. Excellent to rush the final objectives.

Deathbringer

As the last item, I suggest you do a Critical Strike Item. If you don't want critics change this item in some lifesteal (if you don't have healers/you can't heal yourself) or considerate to do Shifter's Shieldthat gives you nice protections when you are dying and nice power when you are not. I choose this 'cause makes your critics stronger than the other items. Rage is nice items to put here too.

At the end game you probably was one of the big (may be even the bigger) trouble to the enemy team with this build BUT YOU STILL SQUISHY, unfortunately with Cupid, you have to choose be strong or don't be squishy, so don't be too aggressive.

Build 3: Situational Items

Introduction

Understand that situational items may have items that also work well in the build, there aren't only situational item. It's recommend you read the description that contains the reason of the choose and maybe some tips or which item should be changed.

Bloodforge

Nice if you need power and lifesteal. Also gives movement and a Shield when you kill some one.

Brawler's Beat Stick

Same as in the Build 1. Gives you power and penetration and stop part of the enemy healing. A must item if there are Gods that heals in the enemy team.

Asi

Gives you attack speed and some penetration. But this item is good in lifesteal. Gives you 20% as an addition lifesteal and if you drop below 35% of your health you gain more 25% (45% in total). Makes you very high sustain than Bloodforge but you loose some power and the shield when you kill someone.

Rage

Gives power and critical strike chance. You can change Wind Demom in this item. You will loose the movement speed and attack speed when do critics but you will do more critics with this.

Relics

Introduction

These are items with large cooldown that can help you in the battle or even save you life, so don't forget to get it before go to the battle. Relics are free, but can be upgraded for 500g. Players unlock their first Relic at level 1, and their second Relic at level 12.

Heavenly Wings

This Relic will make you and allies within 55 units move 30% faster. Excellent to escape from some thread. Using Flutter and this item I'm almost sure you will escape alive.

Aegis Amulet

This Relic makes you don't take damages or debuffs by anything during 2 secs but you can't do anything too except move. Excellent when someone goes on you or when there is heavy damage ultimates like Poseidon's Ultimate. If flutter is reloading and the enemies are trying kill you, it's nice use this to try to stay alive while flutter aren't ready. (You can't be healed while in the effect of this).

Purification Beads

This item makes you immune to Crowd Control Effects and makes you immune to new ones for 2s. Excellent against stuns and ultimates like Are's Ultimate.

Meditation Cloak

Using this item restores 75 Health + 12 Health per level and 30% Mana to all Allied gods within 35 units. A "must item" in Assault since you can't return to the base so it helps the entire team stay in battle. You can use this in other game modes, but in Assault you and your team NEED IT, don't waste it, try to use always near the team to help as many people you can.

Phantom Veil

Using this item allows you and allied gods within 35 units to pass through players and player made objects for 5s. Excellent if there is an Odin or Ymir. You are squishy so a simple wall blocking you can be the difference between the life and the death so use this in a intelligent way to stay alive.

Cursed Ankh

Using this item reduces the Healing received by all enemy gods within 55 units by 50% for 10s. Excellent to use against enemies healers or with someone that have selfhealing. Combine this with the Brawler's Beat Stick and you will almost cancel the entire heal. Very nice to use in Assault as a second relic.

Random Facts

  • Cupid is the Roman version of Eros (Greek God)
  • The difference between Cupid and Eros is that Eros is much more the Physical love (Body Desire) and Cupid is more related to the True Love.
  • Cupid means "Love".
  • Cupid is the son of Venus and Mars, corresponding in Greek version to Aphrodite and Ares. So we can say Aphrodite is his mother and Ares his father.
  • Cupid was turned into a magical god for a short period of time but was eventually changed into what he is today.
  • Cupid can says at Low Health "I keep bleeding love.. Ouch!". This is a reference to the song Bleeding Love.
  • Cupid when in a killstreak can say "Love is a battlefield!". Thia is a reference to the song "Love is a Battlefield".
  • Cupid when kills Sobek can say, "See you later, alligator!". This is a reference to the song See You Later, Alligator.

Final Considerations

I won't say Cupid is a hard God but since he is squishy, is not that easy. My final considerations is that he is very funny to play and brings a big satisfaction feeling when you helps a lot the team (Killing or helping killing).

If you follow the tips and the builds here I'm sure you'll be EXCELENT as Cupid.

Hiya xmysterionz,

Thought I'd leave some comments. Welcome to the site, also!

Firstly, about your guide overall, it's great you put a lot of time into it. You have some good tips for each of the skills.

Regarding the builds, understand that power is the biggest component to his damage output...and often, to get the most out of power, you need pen. The reason I mention this will be explained further below.

build 1 (Arena/Clash/Joust)

Build 2 (Conquest)

build 3 (assault)

Hey, Branmuffin17

First of all I want to say that I'm Glad that you give me some feedback and I'm sorry for any mistakes but for some reason I love this expression and I can't control.

But let's go to the point.

Build 1

  • I am not happy with this build and I changed it at least 3 times since I posted here and I still thinking it's not good and I'm always trying to improve it. I also think that warriors tabi fits better in this build and I'm sorry but I forgot to change it.
  • I prefer much more Wind Demon than Rage (because I think Wind Demon passive is much more useful than Rage to Cupid), but I will considerate try this item.

Build 2

  • I recently changed it and the build becomes a ****. I was crazy about doing the build you saw, I'm sorry for it. The old build was almost the same thing you suggest so I will return with the old build.

Build 3

  • I was about to remove Void Shield. I only put this item because someone (who whas a long date Cupid Main) said that was good, but I agree with you. I'll remove it.
  • About the Asi, I can't play with Cupid without some lifesteal (He dies very fast in fight (at least with me)). I just choose Asi 'cause this item passive is very useful in that intense teamfights. If there is a good healer I can agree that it's not necessary but the matches I played in assault were hard without this item (or other lifesteal at least).

I'll try follow your tips and see what happens. I will bring my final considerations later.
Thank you for your feedback and helped me improve this guide.

Awesome responses.

With Rage vs. Wind Demon, if you've got enough attack speed in your other items, Rage's 15% higher crit chance (at full stacks) gives you significantly higher chance overall, which is something I like. If you aren't as happy with your attack speed, I can agree that WD will help with that. Not that you max out AS, but you get a ton of attack speed between your Flutter (at max), O-Bow and Exe, not to mention Ninja Tabi if you choose to get that...in that build, I'd go Rage. Switching out to Warrior Tabi, I'd give more consideration to WD, but still hard to pass up Rage. Here are some average DPS values for squishy god/tanky god with Cupid at level 20 full build (using Smite Builder).
  • Wind Demon (passive active) + Ninja: 638/278 DPS (no Exe stacks), 743/378 DPS (full Exe stacks)

  • Rage + Ninja: 641/279 DPS (no Exe stacks), 743/380 DPS (full Exe stacks). Same DPS as WD without needing to activate WD's passive.

  • Crusher (instead of O-Bow) + Rage + Ninja: 711/294 DPS (no Exe stacks), 838/405 DPS (full Exe stacks).
As you can see, this is one of the reasons I consider O-Bow to be less important on someone like Cupid. Crusher straight up kicks O-Bow's butt on single target damage (not counting the lightning passive damage to multiple targets). Consider also that his abilities will do more damage with Crusher instead of O-Bow, due to the higher power and pen. He'll also like the interesting form of CDR.

On build 3 for Assault, I agree and almost always get lifesteal on any hunter I get. Usually, with or without a healer on my team, I'll start Bloodforge for the power and lifesteal for sustain in the first part of the match.

That said, with Cupid, Jotunn's is definitely the way to go to start. I can usually live okay with a self heal here and there. If there's an actual healer on the team, then I likely won't even consider lifesteal, at least until late. Not saying Asi isn't helpful, but I prefer getting items with power, since even his healing has scaling to it (albeit somewhat minor). This is just my preference, and if you find Asi to be great for you, then stick with it.
