Introduction

Hello Smite Community,

I am from Germany and this is my first Guide. I think this item build does match each other really well and so that's why I wanted to share it.

Every match I play with poseidon I dominate the mid lane really hard, and there are only few gods that are a nuisance for me and those must be played really well to be a problem.

I am using my custom QERF skill layout, so that every skill is easier to access.

I hope you enjoy this guide. Please let me know if there is something missing!

My ingame name is Chrises, so if you want, you can check out my scores.

Pros / Cons

Pros
+ A really good mid-laner with the ability to push lanes really easily.

+ One of the best (if not the best) duelist (1vs1). you can one-combo-kill almost every god (Whirlpool -> Release the Kraken! -> Tidal Surge -> Trident) in the game.

+ Best Movement Speed of all gods, and almost never to catch with the Movement Speed buff.

+ Very good semi-jungler in between minion waves.

Cons
- Pretty squishy, but not anymore if you start with those two defensive items.

- No jump to escape complete block-offs. ( Ring of Spears or Ice Wall)

Items

I always start with Vampiric Shroud lvl.1 Boots of the Magi and one Mana Potion.

Try not to go back before the enemy does, but if it's not possible, try to clear the incoming wave before you go back. I also buy 1-2 Healing Potions and 2 Mana Potions for the next 2-4 base visits.

You want to buy Breastplate of Valor if you're against Anhur or Vamana.
And if you're against any Mage like Anubis, Ra or Ao Kuang, you should buy Void Stone after finishing your boots.

Why Breastplate of Valor? Because it combines Cooldown Reduction and Physical Resistance in one Item, and Cooldown Reduction in solo-queuing is really powerful. But it also benefits my playstyle, since I want to use my ult as often as possible.

After that buy the other defensive item ( Void Stone or Breastplate of Valor).

At this time you should be pretty hard to kill, but try to act as an assassin and not be at the front lines. Your next item should be Book of Thoth. Why? Because it makes use of your overall mana, and thanks to Breastplate of Valor, you have plenty of that. This makes your effective time at the battlefield much higher, since you can spam your abilities for a very long time.

Next Item should be Gem of Isolation, it's good for securing your kills. Why didn't I get it earlier? I think those previous items are more important. At this point you can sell the Vampiric Shroud.

Your last item should be Rod of Tahuti, this boosts your magical power by a great amount, but I don't think it should be purchased any sooner than as the 6th item.

Skills

I use QWERF as Ability Buttons, with F as ultimate. G and T are Actives and 1 and 2 are Potions.

Passive

First Ability (1 or Q)

Second Ability (2 or E)

Third Ability (3 or R)

Fourth Ability - Ultimate (4 or F)

Try always to build up your Tidal Wave Meter so that your skills have the highest effect. This saves your mana a great bit and you can even outsustain Hel for the first couple of minutes.

With the increase in your levels your ability can clear those minion waves with ease. I try only to use Tidal Surge at minions. I save the Whirlpool for difficult situations or for my Release The Kraken!.

Occasionally I use Trident to build up my Tidal Wave, but most of the time I use it to clear the Damage and Speed buff camps when the enemy god is busy or has backed off.

Later on Trident is really a good mobility skill and is also good for finishing off enemy gods, but try to stay always over 50% at Tidal Wave.
