Ok. So, in my time playing smite I've noticed that Camazots (my favorite assassin) is almost never played. Which is something that I have never understood and still fail to understand. I'm making this guide in the hopes that other players will see the value in his kit, the raw power at his disposal.
Let's start off with why I think players shy away from him: Camazots has a rather peculiar kit when compared to other assassins namely that he does not have an active buff ability, and is generally a non-melee focused assassin. Which most assassin players find weird. An assassin...with not just one but TWO line abilities. This makes him the most unique assassin in the game. However: unique does not mean bad. He is far from bad in the hands of someone who understands his play style and how his surprise tactics are best utilized.
Let's talk about his kit:
1. Passive: Essence Drinker
Camazots starts the game with 5% life steal as well as an increase of 5% healing. That means that anything that involves regaining health whether it be hp5 or a healing ability from Chang or Hel. This doesn't seem like much, and it really isn't but that's 5% more life steal than any other assassin at game's start. This gives camazots much more sustain in the early game. Allowing him to stay in the fight longer and receive more gold and xp, all the while playing aggressively: you can afford to make some aggressive plays early game because you won't have to back if you get injured.
Part 2 of his passive is an interesting ability where whenever ANY god dies a pool of blood will rest where they died. When standing in the pool camazots will regen 20% of his maximum hp and mana. A friendly god can die beside him and he can just slurp up their body as a snack and keep fighting. Camazots' sustain is phenomenal.
2. Active ability 2: Vampire Bats
Yes, I'm aware that I skipped ability 1, and we'll cover that next, but vampire bats and his passive synergize together. So first off: at max rank the base damage of this ability is...420 damage. 420 damage before scaling, and it scales...130% of physical power... that's an ultimate ability his 2 is an ultimate that has a base cooldown of 10 seconds. Not only does it do an absurd amount of damage, but it also slows the god for 30% AND heals camazots for 20 health + 100% of his physical power. This ability is spectacular it deletes squishies from the game from far away, because keep in mind it's a line attack.
Part 2 of Vampire Bats:
Ok, yes. This ability does something else too. I know this is complicated, but I'll explain it. Jungle camps. This ability does a special something with them, or rather the main jungle camp monster (the big dude that poops out the buff). When the jungle monster is hit with this ability camazots will receive an additional 3% life steal and healing. This can be done three times for a total of an extra 9% life steal and healing ON TOP of the 5% from his passive. So if played correctly camazots has 14% life steal at the start of a conquest match. Welcome to sustain city. Have fun never ever backing unless you want to.
3. Ability number 1: Screech.
Echolocation. That's what this ability is. Damaging, buffing, echolocation...he must be loud. At max rank this ability inflicts 270 damage with 70% scaling...not nearly as impressive as Vampire bats, however it does synergize with vampire bats well. You see not only does it inflict damage but it bounces back to camazots. If he catches the echo two things happen: that god glows purple and he can see wherever they go for 15 seconds AAND it's a physical power buff of a maximum of 40 extra power. So, as it so happens he does have a physical power buff. It just is more complicated than any other assassin, BUT it does damage. A fair amount actually. And when used first it makes all damage that much more effective.
4. Ability number 3: Devour
This ability at max rank inflicts 320 damage in an area with 75% scaling with his physical power. It is his only leap attack and I generally use it to either finish off an enemy or exit combat. Albeit it is a small leap, you won't be setting any Olympic records with this ability, but it does serve its purpose in a pinch. However, this ability ALSO heals, another heal at max rank it will heal 55 health per enemy in the area of effect + 25% of his physical power. At max rank using this ability on a jungle camp will almost fully heal him. His sustain is ridiculous.
5. Ultimate ability: Bat out of hell.
I'll come straight out and say I use this to tower dive 100% of the time. This ability launches him into the air where he swoops three times doing damage each swoop, and dealing 10% extra damage for each god hot in each swoop. Bottom line: bookoo damage when everyone is clustered. Base damage: 300 per swoop + 20% of physical power. So altogether it's 900 damage to a single God + 60% of physical power. I also use it to run away as he is undamagable and cc immune.
Ok. Next up: tactics. As you know now camazots has an insane damage potential on a single target he can deal nearly 2,000 damage in a second with this build when finished. That's enough to delete any squishy mage, assassin, or hunter from the game; and any warrior or guardian that gets wolloped by him will feel it. It will make them reassess their position in a fight.
Camazots is not a basic attack god he is an ability based ranged assassin, his ability set doesn't make him very mobile, however since his best abilities are line attacks he does not have to get nearly as close to his target to deal his damage making his lack of mobility a less alarming issue, as if played correctly you won't be in a position to need to pole vault across the map with 4 angry gods chasing you because you've just killed the mage. It's a safer style of play, but by no means less effective. I would describe his play style as a: physical damage mage with a melee option that specializes in flanking, dealing maximum damage in a second and running away. Generally only basic attack jungle camps, and fleeing enemies who are caught alone. And only do so after vampire bats is used, because any health they take will be replaced in 3 seconds of boxing: maximizing his boxing potential.
The combination of movement speed and power will maximize the efficiency of the role camazots is designed to play. Have fun, and delete people with his burst. Experiment with items and cooldown I'm ok with the lack of cooldown reduction but I know some people will want to always have an ability on hand.
Have fun.

How about you get some damn CDR?
Masamune? More like MasaNOPE
Why do you go for Bloodforge when you have 0% CDR, and well passive Lifesteal?
You sure about upgrading your 2 twice before getting other skills?
What game mode do you assume this guide is even for?
A so called good player won't be looking for builds online, They could ask for some specific suggestions in specific situations but that's about it.
The build is horrible in every game mode. Yeah wait in conq for that extra gold, have fun having your jungle stripped away while you do that.
Any ability based assassin needs CDR.
Bumba is useless outside of being a jungle in conquest.
Glad to see you're taking about what good players take/don't take when you don't realize what CDR is.
Oh wow you can heal from a jg camp, did you know that your 3 heals the most in your entire kit and you don't even need lifesteal for that?
Having trouble understanding my subtle criticism shouldn't trigger your period either.
Better criticism in Duotem's post ty xoxo
You main Susanoo. So naturally you will build CCR. You have to make out with someone in order to kill them. I don't. Therefore. I personally from my experience do not need it. You're internet ego needs to be taken down a notch. It's particularly vulgar and nearly laughable.
2. Yes. Masuname. The combination of move speed, power, and protections (however small) is perfect for his play style because the it makes up for his lackluster traverse.
3. I go for bloodforge because with the item he has 30% lifesteal and he can smack a jungle camp to heal up while running away. (Did you even read my guide?)
4. Yes, I am sure about upgrading my two twice and then getting echo, because for starters it lets him use jungle camps for his passive, and it half to quarter healths starting gods in one ability.
5. This is a solid build for him in any game mode.
6. Logic would dictate that since you cannot purchase all of the starting items in one go that you would wait for the minuscule amount of time before you can purchase another.
7. Not agreeing with a build doesn't give you the right to be rude, especially whenever you're lack of understanding is because of ignorance. This makes you the worst kind of ignorant because it means you have little to know interest in reading the guide before jumping into the fray. This makes you not only an idiot, but an insufferable fool as well.

Politely request that comments you make be directed in a constructive way. We're looking to be a positive community with intent to offer constructive criticism and help. Thanks!
1. I think you're thinking of CCR, Crowd Control Reduction, but unless you're playing against the stupidest players in the world the should be able to CC you. CDR, Cooldown Reduction, is a strong stat for ability based assassins as more usage of your abilities means more damage. That's why Jotunn's Wrath is such a strong item since it gives you all the stats you want.
2. If you want the movement Stone Cutting Sword, Winged Blade, or Witchblade are going to be stronger most of the time. Stone Cutting Sword trades the Health for 30 potential pen and 30 protections which you don't have to be in the middle of 5 people to get for only 100 more gold. Winged Blade is cheaper and gives you more health in addition to other stats as well as a passive that helps you chase or run away. Witchblade also cheaper, gives you more health, reduces enemy attack speed to make sure they can't box you, and reduces enemy healing when you hit your autos so there is no way they can out sustain you.
3. You make no mention of bloodforge in the actual guide, and if all your wanting from bloodforge is increased healing on jungle camps you are wasting gold. It's fine as an end game item to let you escape after going all in on a target.
4. I don't have an issue with leveling the 2 twice at the start, but you can only do it in modes where the starting level is 3 or higher. You might want to alter the first 3 levels to 2 - 1 - 2 so that new players looking into conquest don't get confused.
5. Bumba's is very unnecessary in modes outside of Conquest. Mana chalice is generally a waste of gold as it very quickly loses value as your mana pool increases. Also Trans also provides a ton of mana and mana regeneration making the mana chalice even less worth it.
Also going Trans before boots in the Jungle will put you super behind enemy jungle rotations as well as delaying your power curve. If you switch it around it enables him to match rotations, have an early spike, and trans stacks arent that important overall as the power increase isn't much.
6. It isn't minuscule as you give up lane pressure, buff control, and allow the enemy jungle an early lead between wait time and travel time. It's only irrelevant outside of conquest because the shouldn't be going that start.
7. Resorting to name calling doesn't make you any better than him. He wasn't being ignorant even if he was rude in the way he worded some of the questions and comments.
Yes adapting to each game is core in smite, but you give no item suggestions for newer players to look at. The lack of formatting makes reading the guide more of a chore than an enjoyable experience.
The fact that he's asking questions means he isn't just attacking you, but wanting to hear your reasoning. Stuff that seems obvious to you may not be obvious to others. He hasn't shown any rigidity in building besides not liking Masamune which isn't really a good item in most cases.
It isn't a matter of whether or not a good player will Crowd Control an Assassin. It all comes down to two things: Timing and Positioning. If as an assassin a player rushes headfirst into a teamfight expecting to kill their target while every enemy player has a clear line of sight. Then, yes. Expect to be punished for that with crowd control and feeding the other team another kill. If as an assassin a player attacks without waiting for the guardian to expend all of their abilities, then yes. Yet again. Expect crowd control and immediate death. However, an assassin who waits until the team's guardian has used his or her kit, and then strikes from a flank. Then that significantly decreases the likelyhood of a crowd control effect. If as an assassin a player properly controls their engagement and chooses the correct opportunities to do damage, then they can expect to do extremely well and die very little while getting many kills. Wait for the warrior and the team to draw aggro from the enemy team and use the chaos to slip in, do damage and then leave. Crowd control deaths as an assassin are the punishment for poor timing and bad planning, with the occasional exception from time to time. Choose the proper moment and watch as the Crowd Control no longer becomes an issue.
I also, stated in my guide that while I personally am quite content with the base cooldowns, other players may not be and I stated that Jotunn's Wrath would be an excellant choice to replace another item if they so choose.
I chose Masamune over Stone Cutting Sword on purpose for a simple reason that I also stated in my guide: Camazots is not basic attack oriented, and while the extra thirty protections are quite useful on other assassins I chose not to build it on Camazots. Which would you rather have? Thirty protections on a build that it does not directly benefit as there is not a single attack speed item in the build, and camazots is almost never eating someone's face, up close and personal unless it is a 1v1 and in this case if he connects with both his screech and vampire bats he literally cannot lose. Any full health hunter, assassin, or mage is going to die in a 1v1, simply because all the health that will be left is three basic attacks worth (if that with the buff from screech). Camazots is not basic attack oriented enough to justify purchasing Stone Cutting Sword, this makes masamune the better item of the two (Same logic goes for Witchblade). I keep Winged Blade on hand in particularly Crowd Control heavy games (Guardian and a Hercules for example) thats that much more crowd control the assassin has to time and watch out for, and sometimes simply going for the kill is the only option left available. So, situationally: Yes. Winged Blade may well be a better choice. But for this god, and for most situations with this god Masamune is the better item out of all of the choices you listed.
Would you rather have 30 situational protections that require facehugging (which isn't his playstyle) or up to 25-20 protections (most of the time 20 or 15) that are always active while running away until he is out of danger, not to mention it is 50 more health Vampire Bats returns to him, because remember his heal is 100% of his physical power, AND it slows so a quick shot while running away furthers his distance from the god(s). This item maximizes the war of attrition that running away from a group is because it benefits his ability to always win those engagements: in the protection aspect, in his ability heals, and his movement to run away, making Masamune a great item on this particular god.
Bloodforge. I use blood forge for the simple reasons that everyone else does, as well as special camazots reasons: 75 more health back from Vampire Bats, and 100 more damge for vampire bats. On Camazots the life steal benefit of this item is not for basic attacks alone it also drastically affects his ability heals. So: At full build that's 400-500 health back every ten seconds in a fight no matter how much damage the ability deals, meaning targeting a heavily protected god isn't a waste as it just adds to his health pool allowing him to keep fighting. Also, on a kill of an enemy god Vampire Bats will return all of his physical power as health as well as a shield which further "adds to his health pool" for a time. His ability set increases bloodforge's uses beyond what any other assassin can use it for. Which is why I am more than happy to purchase this item over Jotunn's Wrath every time.
I agree. For new players I would recommend a 2 - 1 - 2 setup over my 2 - 2 - 1 setup as well as the fact that not everyone will want my particular setup with this god for conquest.
I generally don't purchase Bumba's in modes that are not Conquest unless I want true damage basics early game.
I will however defend my purchase of the Mana Chalice in all game modes, for the simple reason that Camazots is stupidly Mana hungry, even at full stacks of Transcendence there will be times when you need a pick me up in the mana department especially after selling Bumbas and being unable to get mana from camp kills. I use the Mana Chalice all game. Which brings me to the reason I buy transcendence in the first place: Camazots is one of the most mana hungry gods i've played making Transcendence a must it's not about the power it's about being able to sustain his mana pool for using abilities. This is why he must constantly feed off of his kills for not only health but mana as well.
Yes. Building Charged Morningstar instead of boots first slows Camazots down directly out of the fountain but it also gives him a power boost and a mana pool early game which I use to harrass enemy laners. You don't need to kill them early game but popping in and nailing them with your abilities and leaving is enough to force them to retreat into their tower or even back. Which in turn gives your teammate an advantage over their adversary, and it can snowball to an easy win. This also aggravates the other jungler's rotations and they will be forced to cover that lane while I go help my teammates with buffs. I'd rather have transcendance first than boots call it stupid but it benefits how I play. Even if it delays my power spike his base ability damage as well as his buff from screech make it passable.
His entire comment exuded a strong air of condescension, and rudeness; which I will not tolerate under any circumstances. It is not my job to be the punching bag of a person who needs to be rude over the internet, and hides behind a screen in order to fulfill a perverse kind of power fantasy that is sated by rudeness to strangers with no fear of any consequences. I will not be his punching bag. The lack of constructive criticism and logical dissecting points to flat out mockery (and mockery without thought is in fact a form of ignorance); and no, I will not give the benefit of the doubt because this is the internet, and the internet is full of jerks especially in gaming communities.
And as for my guide being "a chore" looking up a guide for a god shouldn't only be an items list or an ability upgrade order. It should be a reasonably in depth analysis of the god, it's abilities, etc. and a player should expect to read. The build doesn't make a character's success, it's the player that uses it.
2. Jotunn's is listed no where in your guide at the point of this comment. I searched it. Not building cooldown on an ability assassin is a waste because what you get from scaling will in no way make up for the base stats from the ability. It also contains penetration which is the best stat for an ability assassin.
3. With the play style you talk about the most you're getting from protections when played "correctly" is 10-15 so you're wasting the passive since according to you he needs to be max distance at all times. Also the first 100 protections are the most important as they prevent the most damage and stone cutting allows me to get a larger amount including during the 1v1. If an enemy is dying to one rotation of abilities and they haven't itemized against it then they are just stupid and if the 2v1 occurs you don't always want to leave. Camazotz's sustain you talk so much about allows him to take the extended fights where he will want to auto and as a result allow him to benefit from stonecutting. Witchblade reduces enemy attack speed which allows you to take on the hunters mid and late game easier and reduces their lifesteal as well as giving your team utility against characters like Hercules who can be a nightmare to take down regardless.
4. Please tell me you see the flaw in the because everyone else does argument. You do realize physical lifesteal doesn't affect abilities right? In addition according to how you say he needs to be played you won't be making much use of the shield as you should be in and out.
5. I'm not understanding the response here as it's literally just my statement on how the games ability leveling restrictions don't let you level abilities that way unless you start at 3+.
6. Your basics only get true damage against jungle camps so you literally get pretty much nothing out of this in non-conquest modes.
7. In most cases though when you run out of mana you want to back. You shouldn't be going through 6 mana potions in a game especially if you have trans, passive, and bumba's for sustain. If you're having that much of an issue you're likely using abilities inefficiently or not timing your backs appropriately.
8. A good jungler is going to abuse your lack of movement and take the their camps, the neutral camps, and your camps because you can't catch up to them to contest if they have a team who isn't braindead. They'll also have valuable seconds to freely gank a lane you are rotating to if you both start the rotation at the same time. In non conquest its fine as the maps are smaller and there's less to fight over.
9. Yes his comments were rude, but the fact that you automatically view it as a perverse power fantasy is also a bit ridiculous. Your response talks more into how you view yourself than how he's an ******* for being rude, but maybe that's just my view. Jerks only have so much power as you let them have.
10. I agree it should be more than an item list and upgrade order, but basic BB coding is simple enough that using colors to break up sections should be easy. It's right in the color wheel on any box you have to type in be it guides or comments. The player should read, but it doesn't mean you can't make it a better experience.
