Example Build (my go to build)

Notes This is the build I use in most of my games, but there are always situations where I might need to use a different item for one of these items.

IF the game lasts long then sell Jotunn's Wrath for The Crusher or Heartseeker (IN NEXT PATCH WITH BUMBA BUFF!)
This is because getting max cooldown will really help your fighting and dps output, and now there's Bumba's Hammer which gives 20% cooldown but only at lvl 20, so if the game lasts long enough then sell jottuns for crusher

Notes These are some of the many item options for different situations that could happen that I go over in better detail in ITEMS

As for Eye Of The Jungle though
I'd say Bumba's Dagger is better early sustain for the more health and mana it provides you when your getting your jungle farm off. You can still use Eye Of The Jungle but id recommend Bumba's Dagger into Bumba's Hammer

Relics

Notes Purification Beads, Blink Rune, and Aegis Amulet are the relics you will mostly always use or always at least one, the other ones are optional and situational
Purification Beads ex: To escape Cerberus and Baron Samedi Ultimate

Teleport Glyph A good relic for bastet to backstop towers and phoenixes, it is risky the more your into higher levels of play but if you are in an disadvantage late game this can really help if you take a phoenix, but dont disband the teamfight!, coordinate with your teammates that you will be taking a tower/pheonix cause you dont want to randomly leave your team behind so say split push, and better to do it if your team is alive and the enemy has 4 people alive

Bastet's Skill Order Notes Honestly i feel like upgrading Pounce instead of Ensnaring Claw is a better option for more DPS output, because the max amount of damage the cats can do is really close to the pounce damage but they normally die before then and for lvl 1 Ensnaring Claw you already get everything and the upgrades is only for damage. Even when in Ultimate, hitting the sweet spot with Pounce will do more damage.
This is up to you whether you want to upgrade second, Pounce or Ensnaring Claw depending on your play style.

  • Guide on how to play bastet
  • Bastet changes and item affections
I hope this guide helps you in anyway and if you have any questions or recommendations, feel free to post them in the comments.
The visual aspect of this guide will increase overtime once i know how to get better at the visual code for the guide.
I update this guide regularly from the affects of each patch and if in a couple months that means im taking a short break from smite, but right now im invested.
For Hindsight,
I am Prestige 8 with Bastet aka: 9000 worshipers currently

Abilitys and how to use them

Combos

Bastet is a combo character and you want combo all of your abilities together because that's when she is most effective and there a lot of combos possible along with the passive for many different situations

These are only examples and the more you play as bastet you will know what combos to use in different scenarios

Pounce

Bastets pounce is the ability that does really good burst damage and an amazing enter, and escape, and a good start up for a combo or anytime in a combo

  • Example: Jump in with Pounce and combo up with your other abilitys
  • Example: If jumped in with Pounce you can escape quickly by jumping back again, and once in you can throw all your abilitys out and jump back
  • Example: (In a battle and low) use Pounce to get out and even better when jumping threw a wall or once threw the wall use Blink Rune
  • Example: Juking people with Pounce by pouncing somewhere and leading them there and jumping back near the end of the jump
  • Example: Suprise attacking enemys with Pounce threw the wall (simple enough)
  • Example: Note, if you see that your enemies take note of where you pounced from, pay attention and adapt an escape

These are only some of the examples of what to do with pounce

Razor Whip

Bastets Razor Whip is the main ability of damage for bastet and should be in almost every combo

  • Example: For good bastet poke damage you want to jump in with Pounce (or use Ensnaring Claw before then pounce) and then use Razor Whip and jump back
  • Example: For minion waves because the cone shape of Razor Whip you can hit the god and the minions
  • Example: Razor whip is the easiest ability to hit enemy's with all 3 attacks with Guardian's of Bass and also does the most damage
  • Example: Razor Whip can finish off low enemys from the bleed cause its the best basic damage ability for bastet

These are only some of the example for what to do with Razor Whip

Ensnaring Claw

Bastets Ensnaring Claw is bastets new ability and its a better version of declaw. This does Root for 0.5s, 25% Slow for 2s, Root Damage, Uses a cat instead and summons that cat stays for 4 attacks (1 hit per second for 4 hits). The utility of this outside her ult is more for the effects and root damage, but with the ult it summons 3 cats making it even stronger. Although outside of ultimate, this should be used as a better declaw.

  • Example: if you trying to run, quickly turn around and use Ensnaring Claw for the root and pounce/blink away
  • Example: hit a running enemy with Ensnaring Claw to root them and slow them to follow up
  • Example: Ensnaring Claw becomes similar to Cat Call (bastets last ultimate) when using Guardians of Bast
  • Example: to be safe from stuns and aggressive pokes use Ensnaring Claw to poke from a distance to show them not to mess with you and follow up with your other abilities also
  • Example: If in lane, Ensnaring Claw is a really good initiative to a combo

These are only some example to what to do with Ensnaring Claw

Ability Damage Stats

Abilitys and how to master them (Tips!)

Tip 1

Combo!

  • Make sure to Combo your abilities well and take advantage of the cooldown reduction from the build, with it your presence in teamfights and fights will be stronger because your overall dps will be increased due to the more overall abilities you get to use in the fight.

Tip 2

Pounce

  • Heres are some tips and things to know about Pounce

    1. Due to Pounce being an old ability, it has some bugs. If you use return pounce right before it ends sometimes you will jump in place, and sometimes if your affected by a unique CC (that was added after this ability was man) like knockup while pouncing or pouncing back you will pounce in place. (be careful of this and devs please make pounce CC immune)

    2. Some enemies will know that you will Return Pounce and wait there to attack you, pay attention to the enemy and decide whether you will use Return Pounce or not. Playing mind-games on the enemies with this tactic like running away and returning pounce to gain distance is a good strategy to use. And make sure to remember the enemies patterns, like if they will wait at your pounce or follow you.

    3. Learn the enemies actions and movements and dodge their attacks using pounce and use it at the perfect moment and same with return pounce, once you master this art you will be dodging peoples abilities like a feline!

    4. Make sure to pounce through walls and use it to your advantage in different situations, some examples are getting the jump on the enemy or escaping and gaining a good amount of distance from you and the enemy

    5. Remember your pounce does not go off of cooldown until you use Return Pounce or the duration of Return Pounce reaches 0

Tip 3

Razor Whip

  • Razor Whip is a fairly simple ability and your most damaging ability, theres not too much but here are some things to know

    1. (Very good thing to know!) A really good thing to know is how the ability works, as you know there is a whip animation and very quickly after you press the button the damage is applied to the cone area not instantly but this is actually good and helps. Because of this, if your moving towards an enemy its easier to land the razor whip because the cone moves with you and does the damage in the cone after the very very short wind up time. And also once the cones damage comes out, it does damage to the whole cone instantly, NOT a left to right damage action as if you were using a whip like the animation shows.

    2. Once you've played enough bastet, you'll come to instinctively know when a razor whip will deal enough damage to finish off an enemy and if your fine to change targets now. (You will pick this up naturally but you can learn this better by paying attention to health and your razor whips damage)

    3. Learn and get a feeling for the distance your Razor Whip will reach and when the damage in the cone will apply, once you do missing razor whip will barley ever happen

Tip 4

Ensnaring Claw

  • The AI of the cats can be janky alot, sometimes they wont properly target who you want to so heres some things to know about targeting and other tips to know as well.

1.The Cats target the closest person to where they start moving from after you use Ensnaring Claw

    2. Whoever is hit by your Razor Whip will be targeted by the cats.

    3. Take advantage of the cats Slow and Root effect

    4. The Cats will not attack the Totem of Ku

    5. The Cats priority is Razor Whipped Enemy > Gods > Minions > Structures

    6. The Cats can body block

    7. The Cats can be hurt before it makes contact or reaches the deploy range, this includes towers

    8. Jormungandr will melt your cats like they are nothing with his basic attack

Tip 5

Guardians of Bast

  • This is a pretty simple ultimate but these will go over knowing the targeting areas for the abilities and some other little tips as well

    1. With the Max Cooldown build, you will be able to use all your abilities TWICE during the ultimate, this will increase your dps in a fight by alot, but make sure to remember that your pounce does not go off cooldwon until you've returned pounce of the duration reached 0.

    2. During your ultimate, your Pounce has 3 circles, make sure to hit the sweet spot of the circle. And another really interesting thing from this is that, your normal damage circle is the middle/bottom circle, so if you only hit one of the left or right circles you will only do the additional ultimate damage.

    3. During your ultimate, your Razor Whip has a much bigger range, easily hitting most of the team during team fights, but also make sure to hit the sweet spot for who your targeting.

    4. During your ultimate, you Ensnaring Claw has 3 lines that meet together at the end, but the way you hit this ability will pretty much be the same. And take advantage of there being 3 cats!

Bastet Gameplay Conquest (Jungle)

Early Game

Mid Game

Late Game

Ward

WARD!!!!!!

  • If you play jungle then always ward for bastet it may be difficult at start game because of low mana and needed money for first wards but first recall (or if really needed)
  • If your a beginner to warding, After you finish boots get Chalice of the Oracle, this is needed most times because warding is very important and because money could sometimes be a struggle, so having the wards refresh every time you return to the fountain can really help if your beginning with warding.
  • If you do not know where to ward then you can search it up and there is some really good guides, I normally always put one near the enemies attack camp or a little below it, because it really helps with spotting out the enemy mid laner once they come in from getting their camp, another good spot is to the left of the mid lane or near there speed camp and this normally gives the position of the enemy jungler, but still search up good ward spots

Recent Changes Affecting Bastet

What up everyone so with this part i will talk about general affects to bastet right now, i have all the recent bastet buff changes right above :3

  • NEW INCOMING REWORK
    Notes from the devs,
We missed the mark on our previous Bastet update. Currently Bastet has strong win % stats in conquest, but players feel underwhelmed by her. We are giving her another new passive and a new Ultimate that should feel much more like a true Ultimate ability.

My response is, yes her passive is just plain terrible and for her ultimate, they definitely could've done something better but the current one is still good as well but I'm glad they are doing another change and hopefully its just as better as the last ultimate change. And yes, this whole guide will get a rework as well for when that comes out

Congrats! You've Reached the end so here's a dancing Raboot!

If your reading this than wow you've read my guide, 030 and i hope it helps you in any way, again if you have any feedback in any way like recommendations or talking about something in the guide don't be afraid to comment your opinion on it, either way its constructive criticism so if something sounds rude i wont take it personally because this is for the better ya know! and if you want me to make another build for a more situational lane that changes this build such as solo just comment that lane or any recommendations on new threats that should be added, any ways have a good day or night where ever you are (=^-ω-^=)

Bumba's Spear > Bumba's Hammer on Bastet. Similar to how she's not a Hydra's god, and Bumba's Spear compliments her playstyle better, and is better stat wise for her build.

Would prob suggest: Bumba's Dagger ( Bumba's Spear) > Jotunn's Wrath > Transcendence > The Crusher / Brawler's Beat Stick > Serrated Edge / Titan's Bane > Heartseeker.

Dude try this one time you can check my stats with her. Gladiators shield with Discord . McTheShizzle I don’t play team but I clean up with her pretty good with The pounce from the shield.

I honestly think you should sell Bumba's late on Bastet, you don't really often get a chance to AA a lot or abuse Hammer passive so i'd rather sell it instead. Also starting Eye is an option as well (where you can opt for Protector late).

E.g. Bumba's > Warrior > Trans > Jotunn's > Brawler's / Crusher > Heartseeker / Titan's > sell Bumba's for Titan's / Heartseeker > Boots for Bloodforge.

Or, Eye, Warrior > Trans > Jotunn's > Brawler's / Crusher > Heartseeker / Titan's > Protector > Boots for Titan's / Heartseeker.

Also btw Hammer has 10% CDR, not 20% anymore.

Also for Arena build you could try out 6th item Manikin Hidden Blade. (Since Arena you can just rush boots and optionally skip starter early).

Also Screammmmmmm played Bastet Jungle in SPL recently if you're interested (last week I think): https://youtu.be/Y4jk3F0KPPk?t=2962

He went: Talaria > Jotunns > Beatstick > Heartseeker > Void Shield > Titan's.

Please dont get Pridwen in a build with Jotunns in, and not especially in a build with Jotunns and Mantle. Tbh I dont think Pridwen is worth on her anyway. Also add Bloodforge and Void Shield as alternative items.
1
Epicbuttercat (2) | May 16, 2020 6:01pm
Thank you for catching that, i didnt realize for the build example with more defense had pridwen on it and yes after looking over pridwen and how it would fit builds i see what your saying so im going to play some games with it and see how it would work with bastet now and decide whether i should remove it from the build/items for bastet to build. And thinking about it, bloodforge would be a good addition as an alternate item so ill test some games with that as well. And for void shield, idk unless building Void Shield and Shifter's Shield would be good together (which it prob wouldnt), cause my point is that Shifter's Shield should be bought over Void Shield unless you really need that physical protection reduction, but ill try some games with that as well.

(also that whole backdooring/split push thing, idk yet if bastet can still do that efficiently with the rework but ill definitely try and see)

Question to anyone reading this, the info i got and stuff is good an all but the way i present it does it look kinda sloppy? what i mean is to me sometimes it looks like notes with info all over the place and my notes on my build item explanations are kinda long, i can change it up with the same info but make it look nicer like probably next weekend but id like to know if anyone thinks i should do this from a readers perspective.

Branmuffin17 (394) | August 30, 2019 9:02am
I'll say what I say to everyone...I personally like seeing only perhaps 2-3 example builds, along with identifying core items essential to all builds (if any), and a listing of optional items. It prevents the list of items from being more of a scrolling function (at which point I mostly ignore all the slight build variances).

that took a while 030, hope it looks good!

How does Pridwen work on Bastet? Does it proc when the cats spawn, when the 10 seconds are over and/or if the cats die early?

Epicbuttercat (2) | August 28, 2019 9:15pm
You get the Pridwen passive as soon as you activate cat call :3

Hi!
Your guide and builds are good, but they need some little work:

- You list in core items Heartseeker. That's not the main problem, though. I played bastet a long time and that item was OK altough i picked it not so often. But then, you placed Heartseeker in "Offensive item options" too. So you should take it out of core i think.

Then, at the very end of your guide, you listed that "declaw hits 1 enemy in a straight line." not really. Declaw can hit a bunch of enemies but not in all situations.

That's all! good day :)
2
Epicbuttercat (2) | August 21, 2019 5:47pm
Whats up!
I've made a update and some changes from what you've said
Heartseeker is not a needed needed item for bastet but most of the times the best offensive item choice after core but not needed in like every build.
I've changed the mistake on declaw and thanks for pointing that out :3

Thank your for the knowing of the particles in my brain >:3

Hi Epic,

I hadn't commented up to this point other than a stupid "lol" to Myst's comment, but want to say this looks pretty solid overall. Builds look good. Would prefer to see a more dedicated section to ability discussion rather than just lump them all into the tips chapter.

Couple other points.
  • One tip you might consider is when using Pounce, you might gain a bit of an advantage if you actually aim BEHIND them (when they're facing you). You might also aim near the edge of its AOE, especially if they mostly have melee-based abilities. Either way, landing behind them forces them to turn to target you. Yes, it also forces YOU to turn to target them, but you have the advantage of having planned for this, and can get a bit of a jump on them.

  • You talk about getting Chalice of the Oracle after finishing boots. I might tone that down just a bit, to say more along the lines of just "get Chalice when you have the opportunity." Specifically, it just reads as "after Boots, Chalice is the priority." But you also don't want to slow down your normal build progress...so in a case where you can afford a T2 or T3 item, you might want to do that, and just get one or two Wards to cover you a bit...and then pick up Chalice when it's not a choice between that or a nice boost to your damage potential. Get what I'm saying?

Hi thanks for the feedback
  • so on point 1. yeah thanks ill put an ability discussion topic area i haven't yet because you want to mostly combo your abilities so with an ability would have a lot to do with another but yeah ill make a section for that, and ill go more in depth about approaching with pounce and how to use it and other abilities.

  • and point 2. the chalice of the oracle i dont use anymore but its recommended for newer players that forget to ward ya know, and yeah i get what your saying because it is expensive and i might need to find another spot for it in the build such as after a different item or something like that.

This is literally the Bastet build I use. Nice to see another 1000+ worshippers Bastet player around! +1 from me!

Seems very solid overall.

You should consider Ancile (on-see-lay (hahahaha)) as a situational item at least.

Plus, I liked the cute face in the title, will give a +1 hahaha
