Hey! This is MY FIRST GUIDE. Please excuse any errors you see in it and take that into account. I'm largely open to criticism.
First of all, I think you'll find Freya to be perhaps one of the best damage dealing gods in the game. She happens to be the ONLY melee mage currently. She used to be a hybrid goddess, but now, you'll have to play her magical, which isn't a big deal.
As Freya, you'll probably be getting a lot of "umg freya so op hirez pls nerf" in aftermatch lobbies.
A QUICK COLOR GUIDE
Most of the time, I'll use blue for anything related to mana, mana gaining, or magical power.
Orange will be used on items that grant movement or attack speeds.
Purple will represent a defensive item.
Yellow will represent slows, CDR, lifesteal, and all those other fancy shmancy details.
PROS:
NOTE: THIS BUILD IS NOT SET IN STONE. You should probably replace items based on teammates and situations you're in.
Shoes of the Magi: This is pretty much a key item in most mages. The 250 extra mana really helps early on, when Freya can get pretty mana hungry without the mana jungle buff. The extra movement speed helps to keep Freya mobile. It's better than a defensive item in the terms that you can avoid more abilities a lot easier with movement speed instead of defenses.
Demonic Grip: A key item in the construction of lots of gods with basic attack strength, like [Chronos] and [Zeus]. It gives its user +60 magical power, +25% attack speed, and also mitigates the magical protection of the user's opponents on successful basic attack hits. It's gonna really help you against tanks, but is a great item in general to utilize.
Bancroft's Talon: This useful little item is cheap for its bonuses and gives a great passive. Its wielder gains +100 magical power, which can be a great advantage early game. It also gives +12% magical lifesteal, which stacks with Freya's passive, Brisingamen's Blessing, giving you a total of 27% magical lifesteal. Its passive gives you extra magical power based on your health. This helps to regain any missing health in order to stay in combat longer.
Polynomicon: Seriously, who doesn't like Poly? This item, speculated as the most OP item in the game, adds +100% of your magical power to your next basic attack after usage of an ability. This means that at full build, your basic attacks can be doing a total of 600-800 damage per hit when combined with Irradiate] and [Pulse. With Demonic Grip, this means you can do insane amounts of damage in a short amount of time. It also adds an additional +10% magical lifesteal, +75 magical power, and 300 mana. This ups your magical lifesteal to 37%.
Gem of Binding/ Gem of Isolation: On Freya, either Gem works. All of Freya's damaging abilities manifest the form of a basic attack, but also deal damage as an ability. Therefore, either Gem works. The Gem of Binding applies a slow on successful basic attack hits, while the Gem of Isolation applies a slow on successful ability hits. Either way, you're slowing them down. The items also provide +70 magical power and +250 health and mana.
Rod of Tahuti: The ultimate damage finisher on any mage. By itself, it provides a whopping +125 magical power, but also increases total magical power by 25%, which can actually be a huge increase.
These are mostly situational items that you can switch out for any item in the build if you so wish.
Doom Orb: The Doom Orb is a great early game item that gives you +2 magical power per stack. You receive one stack per minion kill and one stack per god kill, and it stacks up to 50 times. Upon dying, your stacks will be cut in half.
Hastened Fatalis: This isn't really a much favored item on Freya, but it can be pretty useful. It provides you with +30 % attack speed and +10% movement speed. Its passive makes it a great item for chasers.
Void Stone: This is a decent defense item if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need extra magical protection. It gives you +50 magical protection and magical power. Its aura affect reduces the magical protections of enemies within 15 feet.
Shoes of Focus: This is a replacement for the Shoes of the Magi in case you need cooldown reduction.
Breastplate of Valor: The Breastplate improves your physical protection by 75 and gives you 550 mana. Its +25% cooldown reduction stacks well with Shoes of Focus.
As Freya, you will probably be needing some actives in order to secure those hard-to-catch gods like Loki or Thor. You also might need to escape from some sticky situations, like Poseidon's Release The Kraken! or Odin's Ring of Spears. You may find yourself needing some CC immunity to escape from Ares's No Escape or Athena's Confound. The following is a list of actives that you can use situationally or for general purpose.
Meditation: The mana heal active is a great active for [Freya]. It regenerates a large portion of your mana and gives you that little health boost you'll need to survive early game.
Salvation is also a good choice when laning with another mana-hungry god or a tank.
Sprint: Use this to escape or chase. It provides a large bonus to movement speed in order to run down escaping foes or evade a killhungry enemy assassin.
Fist of the Gods/ Hand of the Gods: Useful for taking down jungle camps early game in order to secure that extra EXP.
Combat Blink: You'll need this to chase or evade. Its high cooldown, however, makes it a costly item in combat.
Purification Beads: The Beads will automatically cleanse you of any CC you're affected by at the time of activation, and makes you immune to further CC for a short duration afterward.
Enfeebling Curse/ Weakening Curse: The Curses help to secure weak enemies or run from enemies you think pose a threat. Both provide a huge decrease in enemy movement speed and give a little afterbonus to help you run or chase.
Aegis Amulet: Ah, you thought I'd forget it! The Amulet makes you invulnerable for a short duration, but prevents you from moving, attacking, or using abilities.
Irradiate
Keybind: 1
Irradiate provides a solid bonus to your basic attacks. It has a magical power contribution of 35% plus its normal damages. It does, however, remove the slow and AoE from [Pulse], so use it only (in tandem) to annihilate a single enemy.
Pulse
Keybind: 2
Pulse transforms Freya's basic attacks into ranged attacks with extra magical damage.
Banish
Keybind: 3
Banish flings enemies into the air and roots them there for a short duration.
Valkyrie's Discretion
Keybind: 4
[Freya]'s ultimate causes her to ascend into the air. She remains in the air for 5s or until she's fired four attacks. The attacks deal immense magical damage. At full ascension, she cannot be hit. BEWARE! [Freya] can still be damaged by abilities like Zeus's Detonate Charges and Arachne's poisonous attacks.
EARLY GAME
Early game, you'll want to stay back and try not to feed the enemy too much. Be sure to use Pulse to decimate groups of minions and keep allied gods supported. Use Irradiate if the going gets tough, but be sure that you're not standing in the front when an enemy god uses a heavy CC ability or huge AoE ability. Continuously go into the jungle and kill creeps or use [Hand of the Gods]/[Fist of the Gods] to easily rack up some extra EXP.
MID
During mid-game, you'll have to be smart. By this time, you should already have built up to tier 3 of Bancroft's Talon or have started on Polynomicon. Keep using Pulse to kill minions and slow enemy gods. You don't have to get tons of kills to be effective. Try to work with your teammates in order to secure kills instead of running blindly into an enemy tower. Use Valkyrie's Discretion on low-health enemies in order to gain more EXP. Be sure to coordinate with your team in order to kill the Gold Fury, as Freya can be pretty gold-hungry.
LATE
During late game, you'll pretty much just be plowing your way through enemy defenses, racking up kills along the way. Don't try too hard for kills; let them come to you. Freya can take on groups of enemy gods at once with Banish, but be careful! If the enemy is ganking 5v1, you probably don't want to take your chances with them. You'll always want to communicate with your team and plan strategies, as you can't win the game by yourself! Unless, of course, you're playing 1v1.

Don't take my post like an insult. This guide is incomplete, and you said it yourself - this is a new thing for you. I intend to take a look at it later, when it has updated, so then I can gauge the true quality of this guide.
I'm probably not going to do any more of these anyway... Save your eyes, perhaps.
Take our guides as examples, learn BB Coding, and make this guide and any others that you might make better... cosmetically.
Calm thine tits, we're not flaming you. I would love to, but I won't.
Look at my 5-bar guides, and then look at Subzero's guides, and you will see precisely what Subzero is talking about.
Sincerely,
This Ho Right Here.
Could've just said "needs work" and it would've been fine .-.
First of all, how does my BBC coding "need work?" I understand there's a few places that it's missing and/or looks weird, but this is quite literally the first time I've ever done this. Slacken down on your standards, you sound like you're yelling ay a guide veteran.
Also, explain what you mean by "ugly."
Furthermore, go ahead and downvote it if you wish. It's your decision and I cannot control it. My goal wasn't to achieve egads of upvotes in the first place.
This guide looks quite ugly. Your BBC coding needs work. Feel free to ask me for help on that matter.
Your skills and actives sections is very lacking. You need to expand them. For example, when to use Pulse, tips on using Banish, and how much you should prioritize actives.
Pros and Cons is so threadbare, it collapses like a naked five-year-old girl in New York in Central Park in winter, dying of hypothermia. Are you truly unable to think of other cons, or is it simply laziness? (Try "no escape," or "potential to help enemies with Banish." Stuff like that.)
The gameplay also needs some work. Please give a role to play - magical carry? Middle mage? - and explain our role and situation in detail.
I approve of your item build, however. You give compelling reasons and give room for multiple situations. Your build is pretty flexible for Freya, and I like it.
I won't downvote, or upvote. If the problems I have listed here still persist, I will downvote.
Plus, call me a nerd, I have grammar OCD practically... if I see an error, I'll fix it
And also another thing is add a bit more pros and cons. Some cons are Banish can hurt your team, aegis hurts you alot, etc.
