Most of the time with Aphrodite, you're going to be playing passive-aggressively, especially early game. This means staying in the backline, clearing (if it's your job), healing allies, and keeping enemies away by dropping your kit on them if they get within range of your abilities. Late game, however, depends on your build. If you built more damage then you are perfectly capable of bursting an enemy squishy and disintegrating them with your 1, 3, 2 combo. This means you'll still be in the backline and healing allies, but at the same time you can charge in on someone and drop your kit to kill them when possible. If you're building bruiser, however, you're going to be fluctuating between frontline and backline all game. This requires more game sense as you need to know where you're most needed at all times, but can be a lot of fun and reap its own rewards. Generally speaking, you'll be soaking up what damage you can for your allies while healing them. This allows them to eliminate your foes now that you've done the dirty work. Overall, be careful early game, but Aphrodite shines in mid to late game.
Generally speaking, Rod of Asclepius is going to be a better pick than Book of Thoth. However, if you are ahead enough that you can double stack, then it wouldn't be the worst thing you could do. I'd still suggest Rod of Asclepius, but it is an option.
This obviously depends on the enemy team. If they have strong heals, Divine Ruin. If they don't, Rod of Asclepius.
This one depends on your in-lane opponent. If they're physical, Breastplate of Valor. (If you get Breastplate of Valor, you must decide if you want to keep Chronos Pendant or get a different item. If you want the full Cooldown Reduction, great! No more thinking for you! However, if you would prefer to get something else then that would be fine. You could always replace Chronos Pendant with more penetration or defense, maybe even a damage or health item. If you're facing a team with strong heals, replacing Chronos' Pendant with Divine Ruin would definitely be the most beneficial option. This is completely up to you.) If they're magical, Void Stone. If they're magical with strong healing, Pestilence. Of course, you can always go for something that helps against both physical and magical gods like Spirit Robe or Hide of the Urchin. You could also pick up a Hide of the Nemean Lion if you're facing a hunter, or Mystical Mail if you're facing an assassin. All up to what goes best in the situation.
Generally speaking, if you're playing Aphrodite in Assault, then the enemy team will also have a healer. This is because in Assault, if one team gets a healer then the other team also gets a healer so as to keep the game fair. Because of this, Divine Ruin is a good pickup on Aphrodite in Assault to deal with your enemy healer, and Spear of Magus helps shred protections. There are two exceptions to the healer-vs-healer rule: if the enemy team re-rolled their healer or if you re-rolled into your healer. If this is the case, you may easily remove Divine Ruin and replace it with Breastplate of Valor, Void Stone, Spirit Robe, Hide of the Urchin, or a damage item.
