Introduction to Anubis

This is my first guide :3

Anubis being my main god, i dabbled in different types of builds and finally created this one. And after the recent free god rotation that included Anubis and seeing all the bad builds. I decided to share it with the good folk.

Anubis is a ranged-magical AP mage. The smite game lists him as having High Area Damage and low defense.

Starting off... his passive. His passive, in my opinion, is the best passive in the game. When you hit a target (minion, enemy god, jungle creep) with an ability, you will steal Magic and Physical protections from them (every god gets stock protections) and will give them to you, stacking 3 times. Will give you a 33% increase to your magical lifesteal per tick ( up to 99%, explaining later) and you have a 30% reduction to Crowd Control. Pretty badass?

Why this is such a good passive is because if the enemy has no protection items, then you will steal all their protections with your abilities, enabling true damage while you have more protections to get in close and melt their faces!

Plague of Locusts: A cone effect that hits enemies every .5 secs for 3 secs. A very strong attack that should be used in conjunction with your Mummify and Grasping Hands. YOU ARE CASTING THIS aka Rooted in place.

Mummify: A projectile that stuns for up to 2 secs. Your initiator.

Grasping Hands: A large ground target spell that slows your enemies, hits them every .5 secs for 2.5 secs. This is your most important spell, you will use it to kill minions, melt your enemies and gain life later.

Death Gaze (Ulti): A Line-based ulti that will hit all enemies in the line every .3 seconds for 3 seconds. The cherry on top to a good combo, it will melt the faces of your enemies. You are immune to CC and are rooted in place for duration.

Early game

Anubis will ALWAYS be squishy and it will be a bit hard to solo and get kills early game. Anubis doesn't have alot of penetration, lifesteal or power early game, so you're relying on your abilities. Which is a really good thing because his abilities are kickass. But, early game, keep your distance! Use your Grasping hands (3) to attack minion waves. Use your Plague of Locusts (1) in the middle of a minion wave to cover the entire wave, but only do this when you are certain you will not be harassed during this. If you and a teammate want to initiate a fight, that's the only place where you should Mummify (2) your enemies, early game it's essential to have this always ready in case a melee god is on you and you need to get to safety. Building Shoes of the Magi early will get you some magic power, some magic penetration and some movement speed, why not? Building Bancroft's Talon early allows for a small amount of magical lifesteal, 100 magic power and a decent item passive. Finish your early game by buying Focused Voidstone and now you are in business.

Your combos

With a very large amount of magic penetration and magic power, you are able to do some real damage, but the trick to Anubis is that he is very combo-reliant, messing up a part of his combo will leave you vulnerable and useless. There are 2 combos that are very easy to pull off.

1. The soft melt (USED FREQUENTLY)
You start off the combo with your Mummify, if you miss, retreat immediately, unless you are with your team. IF you land the Mummify, immediately place Grasping Hands at their location, get close and Plague of Locust for the kill. I usually chase down my enemy, rooting him with Mummify, and while closing the gap with Mummify. I cast Grasping Hands WHILE MOVING so that he starts taking the damage and slowing the enemy. Then follow up with your Plague of Locusts when you get there for the kill

2. The "I feel like murdering" combo.
Very similar to the above combo, start off with Mummify, placing Grasping Hands on the enemy WHILE closing the gap by always moving then using Death Gaze while they are still rooted and slowed for some intense face-melting and a nice kill.

Build Finishing

With all the face melt you have been able to accomplish, you finish your build by buying Pythagorem Piece, for a nice Magic Power, high magical lifesteal and some mana increase. This is the key of the lifesteal build. Polynomicon for a basic attack follow up, always useful. This increases your magical lifesteal too! And Rod of Tahuti for more magical power!

With all items in hand, you have an intense amount of lifesteal, which gets scaled to LUDICROUS lifesteal when you get 3 ticks of your passive. You also have a very high amount of Magical Penetration to be able to go through their defenses with your passive reducing their protections.

A scenario (only thought of one :P)

You are walking through the jungle, a Thor uses Anvil of Dawn to gank you. As soon as you recover from the stun. Immediately Mummify Thor, place down Grasping Hands to steal his life. And finish with either Plague of Locusts or Death Gaze, depending on availability. You should be able to leave that fight with full HP.

What to do End Game

At end game, depending on your team situation and if your team are still in lanes. You should become a roaming Anubis. With a very powerful gank combo, you will quickly dispatch your enemies, buy Purification Beads or Combat Blink to get out of there if things go south. IF you ever find yourself low on health, find a buff camp or fury camp and Plague of Locusts. You will be able to get almost, if not all, your health back with one ability.

Conclusion.

Anubis:

Pros:
-High Area Damage
-High Single Target Damage
-Powerful Combos
-Killer Passive
-Can mid well

Cons:
-Bad early game
-Very squishy
-Very combo reliant
-Not an easy god for new players.

Hope you guys enjoyed this guide! :3 Sorry for it being bad xD
