Hey guys this is my build that i have used for a very long time. I have over 4 thousand kills and over 3 thousand worshipers. this build will get you out of tricky situations that Anubis faces. this is not a build thats heavy on health so be careful when you engage in a fight. you can literally go from 400 health to full with your ult or go to harpies and use your 1 and 3 to get 3\4 of your health back. use him right and the enemy will hate you
PROS
* super high damage combos
* titan and objectives killer
* he will snowball like crazy if fed
* has a really good stun to set up for crazy team combos
* Has a sexy tier 5 skin if you have it
CONS
* he has a very low escape rate
* abilities 2 and 4 root you
* he is very slow and will almost always die if ganked
* ODIN = SURRENDER! LMAO :'(
Bancroft's Talon- building bancroft's early on will give you a big power spike and a good amount of life steal. the lower in health you are the more damage you do also the more life steal you recive.
Shoes of Focus- these shoes are better for this build because of the cooldown and extra mana it gives you. the more cool down you have the quicker you can heal up and get back in the fight
OR
Ob Shard- this is a very cheap item for a good amount of magical power and magical penetration.
Spear of magus- one of our smite fire members recommended spear as a better option for Ob Shard. It cost exactly the same but you do sacrifice 10 magical power in return for 15 magical penetration. You also get an amazing passive that reduces your enimies protection by 10 for 10 seconds and also stacks 5 times!
OR
Pythagorem's Piece- This is another another amazing and cheap item. this will give you that extra life steal that lets get more than half full off of the harpies. This item also gives you a good amount of cool down and a bit of mana. thats not it, this item has a passive that boosts your allies power and life steal depending on there class.
Gem Of Isolation- another one of our members recommended gem. The reason why is because if you get 2 life steal items you will hit the limit and actually go over the max. You will give up a good amount of cooldown for this but in return you will recive a big slow. Keep in mind your 3 already slows so adding this will allow you to esacpe or catch your target with even more ease. Not only do you get a good pasive but you will double your damage , get a little bit of extra health, and some CC Reduction compared to pythagorem's piece.
OR
Spear of Desolation-this item is not so cheap but its 100% worth it this will give you a chunk of power, more penetration so you can take care of the tanks, and even more cool down. this is obviously a late game item so dont try to build it too early.
Book Of Thoth- this is a great item for high damage and a lot of mana. I only build this item instead of SOD when the enemy doesn't have to much magical protection. You will giving up a good amount of penetration and cool down for a much bigger boost of damage. i know what you are thinking as well " why would you build book so late into the game " the truth is once you have all the rest of the items farming for stacks wont be an issue because you can clear a whole wave with your 1 or 3 , the choice is yours in the end!
Rod Of Tahuti- everybody knows this is the best item for raw power on any mage this should be you last item just because how expensive. this will absolutely shred anybody along with the right items.
All of Anubis' abilities steal Physical and Magical Protection from the target and he gains increased Scaling to his item-based Magical Lifesteal. In addition, Sorrow grants Anubis an additional 30% reduction to all Crowd Control durations.

I might build my skills in a very weird way compared to others. I like building my 3 and 2 side by side and my 1 last. the reason for this is because if you dont level your 2 you will only have 1 second compared to 2 seconds on maximum rank. one second allows the enemy to get out of the grasp much faster giving you a less chance to escape or to land your ult fully.
COMBOS
Anubis has 2 main combos
The first one is a way to burn your enemies beads or aegis so you can can land your ult fully
COMBO 1PLUSPLUS
The second combo is to kill your enemies the fastest and should be used when they have burned there aegis or beads.
DEATH COMBO 2PLUSPLUS
In the end Anubis is a very good god and far from being "the worst God in SMITE" you just have to get used to his kit and learn when to fight or run the hell away if you can. overtime your skills will grow and people will try to go for you for being so squishy but you will make them regret that decision.
Thank you for taking the time to see my guide and build. This is my very first guide on smitefire so sorry if its a little bit ****py but i hope you learned something and decide to try the build. Have fun taking gods health from 100 to 0 in seconds. Good Luck and keep on being awesome, PEACE ☮ ✌

I understand how using Elite Ownage's Smite Builder could lead you to that conclusion...you actually have to delve into the tool a bit more than it sounds like you did, and it's something that, if you didn't know it beforehand, you'd likely miss.
As such, I made a quick video demonstration, for you and everyone, to show exactly what you have to do to make a stacking item like Spear of the Magus show the correct numbers.
In the end, Spear of the Magus is still the standard item I would choose in most cases, unless against a very tanky team. When you get those stacks, it'll deal higher damage against all but the tankiest of gods. Not that Obsidian Shard is a bad item...it isn't by any means.
So check out the video...hopefully it'll help you better use the tool in the future.
I used to build very similar to you, but this build overcaps on the lifesteal (65% is the max magical lifesteal you can have).
When you are at full HP, you're fine (no overcapping). But as your HP starts to drop, Bancroft's Talon passive kicks in. At max stacks on Bancroft, along with Pythagorem's Piece, you have 59% lifesteal (getting very close to the 65% cap).
Anubis's passive, Sorrow, gives you extra lifesteal scaling that overcaps the 65% by quite a large margin. Just something to keep in mind.
I might suggest replacing one of your lifesteal items with Gem of Isolation.
That said...it's generally not advised to build 2 lifesteal items on anyone. Lifesteal is great, don't get me wrong. But you miss out on some other items/stats that can give you different benefits that are often more effective.
Other things...although it's now very cheap, Obsidian Shard isn't usually the best item for him, and generally shouldn't be purchased so early in a build. Due to easy stacking, Spear of the Magus is often preferred, but it's not mentioned as an option.
As for Spear of Desolation, it's another item that isn't all that necessary for him. Gem of Isolation is a decent replacement option, but there are others as well.
In most cases for Conquest, a stacking item like Book of Thoth (aggressive) or Warlock's Sash (defensive) is key. And guide-maker says to potentially sub Thoth for Spear of Deso...stacking item in the 5th slot is WAAAAAY too late.
Speaking of order, Anubis has 0 escape. To me, what this means is that shoes are absolutely a priority, even over lifesteal. Supplement early game health needs with Health Potions.
Relic suggestions are spot on though.
As such, if you do get Deso, I'd probably suggest it earlier...usually before Obsidian Shard.
Also, more and more I've been personally moving away from the item. It's a bit on the expensive side, and the passive is a bit underwhelming...only 1 second decrease on abilities currently on CD, and only when you get a kill/assist. In a big teamfight, it can help as enemies drop, but it's not all that much. The 10% CDR is the other selling point, but Anubis is more about burst damage and get out, rather than persistent damage and spamming abilities.
Also, if you're just comparing Spear of the Magus to Spear of Desolation, for example, Magus is going to greatly outdamage Deso. Sure, the power is a bit less, but 15 flat pen + 5 stacks of 10 protection reduction equates to 65 pen, which is true damage to squishy enemies that don't build protection...and will still cut deep into bruisers that have built 1 or 2 protection items. Those stacks are extremely easy to max, due to all of his damaging abilities dealing multiple ticks of damage per use. And from as far as I can remember Spear of the Magus has been a pretty decent item...it's been strong for a while now.
The thing about Book of Thoth is a strategic thing...it's not just about the stats. Sure, the power is great at full stacks (even at no stacks). However, the whole point of getting it early is to support mana use. At the point that you're possibly getting it, sure, it'll help, but you'll also find that the power shift in that item makes less of a difference at that point...other high power/pen items will be basically as functional, and don't require stacks to reach their full potential.
If you're comfortable getting Bancroft's Talon first, more power to you. But on your argument about getting ganked with or without boots, you're only talking about one type of situation...the ones where you're already out of position and the enemies are on top of you. In other situations, having the movespeed to get back under your tower is important...if you can recognize or see enemies approaching via wards, the movespeed is invaluable. And you shouldn't just be staying in lane, even at the beginning of the game. You'll at least venture out a bit to pick up mid-harpies, and possibly deeper. So those shoes...helpful.
Anyway, thanks for the response.
