Lore

Hun Batz
The Howler Monkey God

A grudge, like any wound, left untended will fester.

Hun Batz and his twin brother Hun Chouen, led a contented life with their grandmother. Artists and musicians, everything they created was beautiful and enchanting, but they lacked their father’s talent for the ball game, Pitz. Summoned to the underworld, their father, Hun Hunapu never returned. Instead his new offspring, half-brothers to Hun Batz and Hun Chauen, appeared. The Hero Twins were everything the original twins were not, strong, athletic, and clever. And they were extremely gifted at playing Pitz.

A jealous rivalry formed between the two sets of twins. The more they played ball together, the more Hun Batz and his brother were defeated. Eventually, the original twins resorted to foul tricks, aggressive tactics, and out-right cheating. Frustrated with these antics, the Hero Twins kicked the ball into a tree, knowing Hun Batz and his brother considered themselves excellent climbers and would go after it. Yet, the higher they climbed, the taller the tree grew, until they could not get back down. Pleased with their magic thus far, The Hero Twins encouraged Hun Batz and Hun Chouen to use their belts like tails in order to escape the terrible height. However, upon doing so, they were mysteriously and humiliatingly transformed into monkeys.

Though the Monkey Twins, as they are now called, came to be worshipped as Gods of Art and Music, the animosity they hold for the Hero Twins remains. Time has only sharpened their combined cunning, and they eagerly await a chance to strike back. Like any wound, their grudge has festered, and what was once a brotherly rivalry has grown into a far more deadly game.

I find it funny it being an older build and yet it still fully functions on the newer season and the newer map...

I'm going to start saying that this build is from S2 and maybe even from before the HoG nerf (aka old wrath). And the joust build has been created having the old map in mind

After that if you are going to build HB crit you should get Malice as Rage is considered worse now.

However I don't agree with your build (the build from the guide is better) this is because you are building HB as an AA god while he is a lot better (just like Loki and Thor) as an ability based god.

for starter: You should be taking Bumba's Mask if you're jungling as it gives a lot better mana sustain Hp sustain faster clearing and normal gold rewards.

Boots always Warrior Tabi you finish them first to help up you in between camp clear time

2nd like you said Jotunn's Wrath or Transcendence if you want to go stacking (I prefer jotunn's myself)

3rd item Jotunn's Wrath if you don't have it yet and otherwise a defensive or Deathbringer or Hydra's Lament (hydra's gives more CD and a passive that suit HB because of him having an AA between abilities)

4rd one of the 3 other choices if stacking taking discarding the hydra or a defensive item (however normally having Shifter's Shield is useful)

5th Like 3 and 4 on of the items I don't have from there yet (always include DB tho)

6th Titan's Bane cause of the armor most people have by this time sometimes grabbing this as 5th item is a good choice.

Don't underestimate several assassins scaling abilities.

I have been using Hun Batz a lot recently, jumped from level 1 to level 5 in a couple of days. I am no stranger to using him in Joust, and this includes the new map.

My build will typically end something like this:

Starter: Bumba's Mask/Death's Toll (depends on how involved you plan on being in lane), first stage of boots, 4 of each pot (health/mana), and then your first relic (typically sprint, meditation, purification, or sanctuary)

First thing is first, finish your boots!! Power is the only way to go in most game modes. I find myself building the attack speed boots on Arena because of the multiple targets you'll encounter in such a short time.

Next, Jotunn's Wrath! 20% cooldown is a huge, getting that early penetration before anyone can get too much defense built is nice, and for someone like Hun Batz that just noms on mana; that mana boost is a good buffer to keep you in lane just a little longer.

Third item we move to Death Bringer. Because of his passive ability you don't need to worry about Rage, at least not yet! You want that power increase ASAP to pair with your shred of penetration.

Fourth item is Rage (though I think I may play around with using either Golden Bow or Malice; I'll update once I have incorporated them and tested). I have been using Rage to get as close to guaranteeing a Critical Hit on almost every basic attack. Between its additional crit chance, its passive, and the power it provides I think it adds a nice touch to his build.

For the fifth and sixth items is where I change it up based on the typical factors:
- How well am I doing?
- How well are my team mates doing/who are my team mates?
- How well is the enemy team doing/who is the enemy team?

I would say more often than not I go with...

Fifth item would be Golden Bow or Malice, make your critical hit chance that much higher and soak up that power. Golden Bow is going to give you some additional movement speed, making hunting people down, jungling, etc a little easier. Malice will work well with squishier targets that will die off from the DOT you leave behind.

Sixth item is Titan's Bane or Masamune. I saw someone mention if the penetration you receive from Jotunn's Wrath was enough; the answer is not usually. More often that not you have someone that is building for the damage you're putting out and this item says, you won't have it! Masamune is nice when fighting those beefier characters which is never hard to find when you're and assassin.

Honestly, play around with those last 4 items, use both Titan's Bane and Masamune if you find yourself up against a beefy Warrior and Guardian. Use both the crit items if you find yourself up against mages and hunters; characters that aren't built for or aren't building against you.

The only map that my build really changes at all is on Arena; I tend to incorporate more attack speed, add in the frost bound hammer, and just a huge headache for the enemy team.

I would swap out rage for Titans...

I wonder what the effect would be if I trade Transcendence with Devo and get Titans at the end. Also, trading Malice with Rage to get a little extra power. I know nothing compares with Transcendence's power but I wonder if the pen makes up for it. But then I guess we are missing out on the MP5...

Is the pen from Jotunn enough? If you need to swap one item for Titan's Bane which one would you swap out... It's really a hard choice since all these items seems very essential for him.

In the joust build, why build DG at the very end? There's no way to build that many stacks.

i think its not supposed to full stack, its just alot of extra physical power with the few stacks you do get while playing
