Use no-armour stance until near lategame when you have like 4-5 items online, then you can choose to switch to armor OR you can keep no-armour stance on.

hey Kriega,

Would you have any suggestions for arena. I have used a couple of your builds and/or modified for arena and while I am off to a decent start with him overall, i am struggling to get over 20k damage most of the time. I don't want to give up too much defense but at the same time with his passive i probably have the freedom to build more aggressively to a degree with him.

Builds I have had some success with are as follows

was going to finish out with caduceus shield or go with your final item for that one but the match ended early.

(situational--and i know after the next round of changes it will need to be built later)

Well I don't know if the issue here is a build one or if it's something else (like if you know how to use his AA cancels efficiently, which is pretty much the only part of him that takes some skill to do as otherwise he is a very simple and straightforward god). Also I need to remove Blackthorn from my listed items it's just outclassed by Sledge there's no reason to build it.

Also builds will vary on if you want to go for a more bruiser / tanky frontliner playstyle or you want to build more like an assassin (relying on others for frontlining / engage so you can blink occasionally unless you're in a 1 vs 1 scenario you know you can win). Basically playing like a typical Warrior (Though one that is more focused on damage / executes than team setup) vs playing like a Assassin.

I'd say as a generic build path for arena, i'd go something like > > > > / > / for a bruiser build.

Or,

> > > / > / > .

For damage i'd go > / > > / > > .

The AA cancel thing is something I would admit to still being ignorant about. I don't think many of the gods i use utilize it since i don't see it talked about much on the guides i've typically lurked around when trying out new gods. I think i have seen it mentioned with Thanatos and maybe a couple of other gods but never really have seen it explained out.

Part of the issue has been getting the timing down and the aim on his and . I was kind of hampered with that yesterday due to some lag/game issues last night but overall i have started to get it. I lucked out my first night playing him on an 0-4 start and got 4 executes in a row. Not gonna lie, that was one of my favorite Smite moments so far. lol.

On the blackthorn i figured it would still be useful when i was trying to keep more cdr while still giving some health.

In arena I usually try to go for bruiser type builds on my Warriors. I want to have my defense but be able to dish out damage too. I try to only have 1 or maybe 2 defensive only items and then supplement with 1-3 hybrid defense/sustain/power items and 1-2 power/pen items.

I really have only noticed one god who tears me up about any time(sure more will pop up lol} and that is Skadi.

I will definitely give those build suggestions a try.

Well with Skadi you can always use your ultimate to escape from her ice and/or ult if you know that the enemy team is going to have follow up damage on you. But other than that she has no escape so she can't really do much to dodge your executes (other than Aegis) or if you run her down.

so, essentially the auto attack cancelling is just hitting your ability as soon as damage numbers proc on autos for characters with long aa animations to bypass the rest of the animation and go from you ability damage to another aa a little quicker. As an example with Achilles you could AA, hit the 1 as soon as the damage procs, AA, hit the 2, hit one or two AA and as soon as the last AA damage procs, hit the 3, and do the first dodge and hit get another 1-2 AA's in and get the dodge and hit in, get in an AA and hit the ult as soon as the damage numbers pop?(i know, even if i got the concept right, that scenario would be over a lot quicker unless engaging multiple targets and able to efficiently switch between them all). This process also works for ability to AA as well?

Not as soon as the damage numbers proc, necessarily. If the ability is an activation, you'd also be doing basics after the ability even though it hasn't done damage.

Take my Medusa example:

Especially for early clear with hunters for example, you pretty much always should use canceling as you approach the wave and get your wave ability off. Basic and immediately use the ability, rather than starting with the ability.

I've basically been shooting myself in the foot not using this concept because usually i will use an ability first if it is on cooldown, much less use a basic in between each ability activation.

Not really. Sure,AA cancelling doe improve DPS but there's only a handful of gods that make use of it, and even of those, it's not a big enough difference to make you that much worse for not AA cancelling, despite what many Thor and Susanoo mains will tell you.

Almost all ability based assassins and some warriors make use of AA cancelling. If you build hydra's lament on a high pen/damage assassin build, it makes a huge difference.

The most obvious example of this is going to be Susano or Thanatos. Hydra's is basically core on the pair of them because of how big the difference is, I think as Thana I've had most of the final hits on my kills from a Hydra's proc.

But if you can get in the habit of doing it when it makes sense, it's a straight positive, and it's really not that much effort.

It's starting to click. I mean, it is going to be a lot more in match practice, but i have already been able to take advantage of it in some key spots in matches.

Yeah, not in every teamfight scenario are you going to pull of your max possible AA cancel combo's, including blink initiations where you may initiate with a hard CC sometimes (like on Achilles, where you might pre-activate the 2 and 3 as well to get faster initial burst at the expense of longer overall dps), though in contrast, someone like Ravana may blink in and AA cancel in between using the 1 and save the root on his 3 for after someone uses his escape.

Thanks for the additional input. I will take a look at those vids. Normally the Skadi's i have played have been good at locking me up with her slow when their team is near and were paying attention to when i was vulnerable. I'll have to just pay more attention to where a Skadi's team is before getting close.

For all of these build groupings you do, I have one suggestion. You throw out multiple builds (all of which are solid and very functional), but people looking at these builds are looking at them because they need some direction or are looking for better builds than what they currently use.

To that end, maybe a quick note of WHY you would use the specific build would be helpful. I know you're pumping these builds out and don't want to take much time in explanation, but just a bit would be nice.
