The Ultimate Ra Builds

checked youtube for ya and in the 5 vids I checked that were from 5 days ago to a month ago everyone went the known Doom Orb rush
making the build look like this: Mage's Blessing, Shoes of Focus, Doom Orb, Charon's Coin finishing up with Soul Gem Rod of Tahuti and Soul Reaver in whatever order they seem fit with soul gem being swapped for Divine Ruin or another flat pen item.

still that is for mid.

I have seen fine okay do a similar build like that in solo although he only used lotus shoguns and tyrannical. proceeding with pytaghs emperors and heartward/sov.

Also his latest video is a clash game. I can tell you you get away with a lot of stuff in clash. making me sceptic about it for a mid role

SDJ sometimes does cheesy builds, so I wouldn't necessarily take his word on anything item wise unless he specifically stated that an item was worth building. The problem with Prid is that Ra doesn't necessarily want to be close to an enemy when he ults, so the shield is fairly useless.

I can get all the other items to one degree or another. That said, Relic Dagger feels out of place. Yes, the build that incorporates it is titled "speedy" and it has MS in it, but that build seems very...handicapped. There are a couple big points to consider there.

1. MS has a soft cap...2, in fact. I'm not doing the calcs, but I'm guessing you're potentially easily hitting that higher cap of over 540.5, especially when all added MS is active from Doom / Charon's / Regrowth / Talisman stacks, along with Ra's passive. That means you're getting less and less function out of added MS. Building MS just for the sake of it is not suggested.
   
   
2. Adding Relic Dagger brings your total # of items with 0 power to 3. I don't think I need to emphasize how much this hurts his damage or healing potential. Sure, it's got some nice survivability in it due to the health, and the CDR and relic CDR do bring utility. However, I think there are probably much better items to consider here...you have 800 health from other items, with 0 protections, which makes your effective health pretty weak if you're going for a health-for-survivability concept, and you've got all the MS to make it hard to hit you to begin, right?

I think those are reasons enough as to why Relic doesn't make the most sense, even if you're going for a high MS build. It's good to build for a purpose, but also to get as much effectiveness out of it as possible.
