Introduction

Exodus here,

I've been playing MOBAs for about 2 1/2 years post being a World of Warcraft Arena Junkie. I recently picked up SMITE after playing League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm. I climbed into Gold ladder in League and achieved Rank 3 in Heroes of the Storm before the pre-season ranked reset. From my experience, I've learned that no matter how dire a situation looks, as long as your my team doesn't give up; there's always a way to win. With this guide, I'll give you the tools to carry your team to victory as APOLLO, God of Music, Split Push, and escape.

Items

Death's Toll Great for in lane sustain as long as you are landing those auto attacks, as you should be; you're a God.

Healing Potion is a safety blanket if you're not landing those autos on the creeps.

Mana Potion to bolster your mana pool if you decide to get aggressive at level a 2 or 3 advantage over your enemies.

Multi Potion is a good blanket if you want to take a Ward as well with you into lane.

Ward Remember vision and information wins games; curb your jungle fears with wards.

Short Bow A decent amount of attack speed to help gather early double hand firing stacks which has synergy with Death's Toll ,which will keep you healthy and set you up for Ichaival.

Warrior Tabi The best option for all physical damage Gods, get these.

Devourer's Gauntlet Build stacks to get your initiate the snowball, the more minions you kill the better. If you're aggressive like me, going for God kills with your support will throw you into a crazy snowball, practically giving you the Ichaival.

Purification Beads As a Hunter/ADC you need to be able to be unstoppable when punishing your enemies, as well as untouchable when evading; especially when against an Ymir.

Balanced Blade A versatile option for your real damage item, Qin's Sais. Depending on the enemy team comp, if they've got some healing on them like a Khepri/ Ra lane; building this into an The Executioner is viable.

Qin's Sais If you're fed at this point you're going to do a stupid amount of damage after you pick this up. Have fun :) If not, this will help bring you back as long as you're landing the auto attacks.

Short Sword Now it's time to build some critical strike so you can add to your enemies punishment! This acts just like Balanced Blade in its versatility to build into Deathbringer or Rage first.

Greater Purification Short cool downs are a must at this point, now that you've been killing everyone AND split pushing; everyone on their team is gunning for you.

Rage Your attack speed is so fast that this passive will proc non-stop. Enjoy your new blood splattered screen.

Deathbringer rams a flaming arrow into a giant wound you've already created with your crazy build, kiting ability, and finesse.

Potion of Physical Might and Elixer of Power are the late game options when your entire build is complete and you literally have nothing else to spend gold on, so why not take steroids?

Aegis Pendant I love this item for two reasons: 1.) it negates all the damage when you're being tunneled by the enemy team; because this late in the game they're ALL coming for you; and 2.) You can just walk away!!!!

Abilities

So Beautiful your second highest damage output from aside from your fingers, this is the main priority skill that you should both land and level up.

Serenade is your personal CC and shield. Offensively its great for following up after someone else initiates to continue a chain-stun, stop them from fleeing, or seal an enemy's fate after you've landed a barrage of AA's and a So Beautiful. Defensively, if you've gotten initiated on, you have no help, and need to get away. You could probably even save your Purification Beads cooldown if done correctly.

The Moves is your chase/escape. If you're aggressive like I am, its more than often going to be your chase/re-position ability to help you bully your lane into their tower or even escape after tower diving your foe. To be safe though, its cool to leave this ability as your get out of jail card; especially when fighting someone annoying like Ymir or Khepri.

Across The Sky is also a chase/escape ability with its best use in escaping during split push. The ability to literally fly across the map is incredible, can get you out of crazy situations, and make you look more like the God you are. There is one drawback, as Apollo you are rooted while this ability winds up and are vulnerable to being burst down before you take flight; don't mis-clicking this ability can be fatal. Otherwise this is one of the best ultimates in the game because of its versatility, practice makes perfect.

About Apollo

Apollo is a versatile hunter God that will almost always be integral to the team winning or losing. He will always be a high priority target for the opposing team so he will need his team to peel if he's focused. Positioning, like with all Hunters, is everything and can mean the difference between a single kill to a Deicide in team fights. Be sure not to chase through a team fight for a low health target, that's your assassin's job; Loki/ Thanatos. Instead attack the target closest to you, keep your head on a swivel to make sure there are NO ENEMIES BEHIND you, because don't forget... Apollo IS A HIGH PRIORITY TARGET. Bully them with your ego, carry the game, and never turn down the music.

Laning as Apollo

As Apollo or any hunter God, you need to be sure you're not only soaking up experience in lane but last hitting these creeps for gold no matter where you are (in lane or under your tower). More gold means more items, more items means you snowball faster, faster snowball means a quicker victory. You're here to win games, not spend all day in one :).

I find that the Attack Speed jungle buff equally as helpful as the Mana Camp jungle buff. Along with Death's Toll with either you'll be able to sustain in lane for the long run, just be sure to acquire these buffs early with a team mate to avoid getting ganked because it does take time to ramp up.

Team Synergy

Information is everything! As a Hunter, you must be aware of where all of your enemies are so you can make the judgement call to be aggressive or not. If you're not paying attention AND your team isn't calling when their opposing laner has left then it becomes GANK CITY population Apollo. If you're solo queuing make sure you stress to your team to communicate about everything in the game; made easy using the VGS system.
As Apollo you ideally want to lane with:
Ymir
Athena
Hades
Khepri
Aphrodite
And have trouble against:
Ymir
Athena
Khepri
Chronos
Ah Puch
Ao Kuang
Bellona

Videos and Explanations

Here are some examples from a game I won after my team was demoralized from being behind for the majority of the match. Above anything else in this guide, not giving up is the one true lesson. It's never over until your or your enemies Titan has fallen.
