THE BUILD
Ymir has always been a slow guardian, which is why movement speed in the build is important. Traveler's shoes is a great item for Ymir, as it allows him to reach fights easier. With winged blade, Ymir reaches an additional 42% movement speed out of combat. Ymir's early game with this build is great as he has a large amount of health from Mark and Gift in addition to his great base health. This is a very greedy support build, and goes into HotU for added protections and much needed mana. If necessary, this item can be left out, and you can go strait to winged blade for a more support oriented build. In the words of Incon, "The best supports deal damage. If you kill the enemy before they can kill your friends, then your supporting." Ymir likes this philosophy, and with Soul Reaver, he can 100 to 0 squishies much easier. Mantle is great if your ahead. It gives you much needed CDR, which is neglected in this build, protections, and a great passive. Void stone is very situational, as the last few items of a build will largely be. If you want to deal more damage to the enemy Khumbakarna while taking less from that annoying Raijin, then go void stone. If Artemis is rocking your teams world, go Midgardian mail. Counter building is what separates the boys from the men, and if you do it right, a support can have a larger impact on a game than originally thought. Also, Relics. Weakening Curse is great, as you can slow for days, catching up easily and freezing. Shell is good too. It just is. Blink is good for mobility, but it's a bit cut and paste and always expected. Overall, just not as useful as other relics. Wrath is great for the extra stun, and object finish/steal potential.
GAMEPLAY
Ymir has always been a solid A tier pick. Never really over-powered yet, always relevant, especially out of the competitive scene.
Early Game
First off, your clear is amazing. Second, if you are good on clear, try and hit just the archers, while either forcing the enemies back, or getting free poke. However, this is only good if you are ahead. Usually just clear wave, then you can focus on bullying. Ymir does well with adc's that are relevant in the early game. AMC, Rama, and Neith are all great picks for him. Once the wave is cleared, you can focus on bullying. First thing to remember is that your freeze is great, but is easily countered by just being careful. If your freeze is purified in the early/late game you will often find yourself in trouble. Also remember that walling is in incredibly important. If you freeze a Rama, make sure to wall off his roll before he unfreezes.
Mid/Late Game
Ymir generally handles late game alright, but he rocks the mid game. Just run around and freeze people. The most important part here is general awareness and building. Play it right, and you'll do fine.
Techs
Not much here, just utilize Frostbite to its maximum potential. Also remember your wall can be used to block abilities like Nox's ult that can't go through walls. If you aware, you can wall of a Nox ult, before it hits you or an ally, which is always amazing. Also remember you abilities go through walls so if your 1v1ing an ADC like Artemis, through up your 1. Then try and freeze her around corners.
