Fellow Smite players, welcome to my guide to Hi-Rez's newest guardian: Xing Tian.
My name is Zahmby and this is my first guide which can be universally used for Conquest, Joust, and Arena.
While Xing Tian is officially classified as a guardian, he is more akin to a magical warrior which allows him to be an extremely versatile god to play. This being said, he can switch between two very different roles. This build in particular has Xing Tian focus on dealing as much damage as he can while simultaneously working as a support.
PROS
- Great AOEs and CCs.
- Decent passive that grants HP5.
- Capable of soloing mid - late game.
- Allows for an amazing push when using his Ult.
- Can easily change the flow of the game.
CONS
- Low defenses early game, making him extremely squishy.
- Long cool downs on his abilities.
- Abilities use a lot of mana early game.
- No real abilities that can support an ADC.

Xing Tian's passive allows him to gain stacks every time he hits an enemy with an ability which then grants him 3 HP5 per stack up to a maximum of 36 HP5. These stacks are fairly useful as they grant Xing Tian a decent amount of sustain; especially when you use his Furious Roar on minions. |
|
Maxing out Xing Tian's cool down reduction early game is a very crucial part of making him a viable threat against an enemy team. This makes Chronos' Pendant a great choice as a second item as it grants Xing Tian better poking power while giving a much needed mana regeneration. |
|
If you would prefer to lean on the bulkier side then I highly recommend utilizing Mail of Renewal instead of Chronos' Pendant as it gives you an extra 15% cool down reduction while providing you with some solid health. The 15% doesn't quite matter as the game maxes any gods' cool down reduction at 40%. It's passive is pretty useful as it regenerates 20% of your HP and Mana over the next five seconds of a kill, assist, or objective. While you do lose some magical power offered by Chronos' Pendant and the extra MP regen, it's not a complete loss as the extra HP it gives you adds some power back in with Ethereal Staff. |
|
If you feel that you definitely need the extra physical protection, however, then you may want to grab Breastplate of Valor instead. It gives you a solid amount of physical protection; almost doubling over Mail of Renewal and provides you with a decent amount of mana instead of health. It also adds in an extra 25% cool down reduction which makes it a fairly standard pick in matches. |

Sovereignty can be a great third item choice if you plan on playing more of a support role as it provides your allies with +25 HP5; thus helping you and your allies sustain a lane longer than normal. The +200 HP is also slightly better than Stone of Gaia's +100 HP as it gives Ethereal Staff some extra power. I would only highly recommend picking Sovereignty if your enemy team is primarily physical heavy. |
|
Ethereal Staff is listed as part of Xing Tian's core for a very good reason as it converts 2% of your HP into Magical Power. This benefits Xing Tian greatly as he scales massively when it comes to his magical power. It's also a much better choice over warlock's sash as you don't have to consume time trying to build up stacks. The immediate +600 HP makes Xing Tian very bulky and generally difficult to overcome and the +300 Mana allows you to extend your plays more. |

You definitely need CDR, but I tend to agree that Breastplate of Valor seems more appropriate. As you are using Watcher's Gift I guess you are playing as a support, which means that Heartward Amulet and Sovereignty are kinda core items also.
Unfortunately, this god has poor base damage and high scaling, which does not make him really efficient without MP items (which probably explains your build).
I have included Breastplate of Valor into my guide, however if you really want to add in some physical defense then, as I've now included in the update, I recommend picking up Mail of Renewal instead. It makes Xing Tian a bit bulkier and helps him regain HP and MP faster, especially when you find yourself in a group fight. Also, the extra +300 HP helps with Xing Tian's power scaling via Ethereal Staff.
Yeah, I can respect that. It makes sense, I guess I just hate the item, because I can't proc that hit when I want... I have to play around it. haha
3.5 things
1. In your build where it says (third item), it should probably say (fourth item)
2. I think you should list Breastplate of Valor as an alternate item to Chronos' Pendant, just a suggestion. I do see why you go pendant though, he does need that MP5 to do his thing, but valor gives some flat mana, so that could suffice as well.
3. His passive gives 3 HP5 a stack, up to 36 HP5.
3.5. I tend to disagree with Soul Reaver as a general pickup, and I don't see it as being super useful on xing, because he likes to extend fights a lot. I like the idea of Gem of Isolation, he has a dot, so that makes for a long slow.
Nice guide. I like that you put in some decent HP5 regen items, I think this is how to build him, because he can extend fights like none other. It's a pain, lol
The reason why my i list Stone of Gaia and Sovereignty says third item is because it's highly recommended that you pick up some kind of defense as your third item to help you sustain your lane. While Ethereal Staff is a definitive part of Xing Tian's core, I usually tend to pick it as my fourth item.
I also used to prefer Gem of Isolation over Soul Reaver as well; however, I found that when it comes to quick skirmishes, especially late game, nothing hurts more than getting hit by Xing Tian's Ult while popping off Soul Reaver's ability on them. It's especially useful for picking off gods which can force the enemy team to defensively while your team extends for a push.
