Introduction

Xing Tian is by far my favorite guardian, Ymir being the only one that comes close, and I was completely devastated when he was nerfed, removing the root from his Hook Slam hurt his damage output a lot. Finally, Hi-Rez has heard my prayers, and have buffed him, returning the root to his Hook Slam, and buffing the damage on his Furious Roar.

As always, these are builds that work well for me, and my playstyle, they're also designed for casual play, and not for ranked. Without further delay, let's get into the build.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

- High crowd control (A root, and a grab/throw)
- High defense (Mostly physical, but you can build magical protection if need be)
- High health
- Decent damage output ( Mystical Mail, and Hide of the Nemean Lion work well with his skill set)
- Good mobility (A double leap)
- Very high sustain ( Stone of Gaia, and Mail of Renewal regen a lot)
- Can throw enemy gods into the tower and root them there

Cons:

- Not great in team fights, asides from the root
- Hard to keep in level range without getting ahead in kills

Skills

Smouldering Rage (Passive): Xing Tian gains stacks each time he hits an enemy god with an ability (max of 12 stacks), each stack grants +3 HP5 for 18 seconds.

Furious Roar (Line): he shouts from his chest, dealing damage to all enemies within the line, and dealing damage over time (DoT) based on their maximum health for up to 4 seconds.

Hook Slam (Cone, AoE): Xing Tian knocks enemies in a cone upwards, before slamming them into the ground, and rooting them for up to 2 seconds.

Sky-Cutting Axe (Leap): he leaps forwards dealing damage to enemies in his landing area, and he may leap again within 2 seconds. While in the air, Xing Tian has increased protections up to +50 for 3 seconds, this is refreshed if it connects with an enemy god.

Whirlwind of Rage and Steel (Ultimate): Xing Tian spins, hooking any enemies caught in his radius, spinning them up to 3 times before throwing them. It has a 1.25 second cast time, and a radius of 20 units.

Note: I recommend using Whirlwind of Rage and Steel to throw enemies into tower, then use Hook Slam to root them in it.

Items

Shoes of Focus/ Reinforced Shoes: Shoes of Focus grant +30 magical power, +250 mana, +10% cooldown reduction, and +18% movement speed. Reinforced Shoes grant +20 magical power, +150 health, +30% crowd control reduction, and +18% movement speed. I prefer to use Shoes of Focus, however if the enemy team is very CC heavy, use Reinforced Shoes.

Mystical Mail: This grants +300 health, and +30 physical protection, its passive inflicts 40 magical damage per second to every enemy within 25 units. This is a must have, as with Xing Tian you are always going to be near an enemy god, so this will help increase your damage output.

Hide of the Nemean Lion/ Heartward Amulet: Hide of the Nemean Lion grants +90 physical protection, and +200 mana, its passive reflects 20% of all basic attack damage back at the attacker as physical damage. Heartward Amulet grants +200 health, and +45 magical protection, its passive boosts the magical protection and MP5 of all allies within 70 units by +20. If you're against a majority of physical enemies, use Hide of the Nemean Lion, especially if they have a hunter or two. If you're against a majority of magical enemies, use Heartward Amulet as it will help you, and your team survive better.

Stone of Gaia/ Mail of Renewal: Stone of Gaia grants +350 health, +25 HP5, and +15 MP5, its passive regenerates 2% of your maximum health every 5 seconds. Mail of Renewal grants +350 health, +10 HP5, and +10% cooldown reduction, its passive regenerates 15% of your maximum health and mana over 5 seconds when you get a kill, or assist against an enemy god or objective. If you're going more damage oriented, only get Mail of Renewal, but if you're building more tanky, get both, the sustain will keep you going for a long time.

Pythagorem's Piece/ Gem of Isolation/ Void Stone: Pythagorem's Piece grants +70 magical power, +15% magical lifesteal, and +10% cooldown reduction, its passive boosts the magical power of allies within 70 units by +20, and magical lifesteal by +10%. Gem of Isolation grants +70 magical power, +250 health, and +250 mana, its passive slows enemies hit by your abilities by 25% for 2 seconds. Void Stone grants +40 magical power, and +50 magical protection, its passive reduces the magical protection of enemies within 55 units by -20. If you want more cooldown, and therefor will be able to focus someone for longer, use Pythagorem's Piece. If you want more magical protection, while still increasing your damage, get Void Stone. If you want to be able to keep with enemies better, get Gem of Isolation.

Polynomicon: this grants +75 magical power, +10% magical lifesteal, and +300 mana. Using an ability gives the next basic attack, within the next 8 seconds, +75% of your maximum magical power as magical damage. This effect has a 3 second cooldown. Pick this up if you're going more damage oriented, as your root will give a free basic attack.

Ethereal Staff: this gives +30 magical power, +400 health, and +300 mana, its passive converts 2.5% of your maximum health into magical power. This is a good last item if you're going tanky, as most of the items give health.

Hide of the Urchin: this grants +35 magical and physical protection, and +250 health and mana. You gain +3 magical and physical protection for each god kill and assist (max of 10 stacks). This is an awesome item for all around defense if you want to switch it out with Hide of the Nemean Lion.

Gods to Look out for

There aren't many gods that Xing Tian has to worry about, hunters and assassins with Qin's Sais can occasionally be a problem, but you'll have control over most conflicts with your crowd control abilities.

Ravana: he isn't that big of a problem, you just need to keep in mind that he can immune, and escape your crowd control with ease.

Chang'e: again, another god that can escape and immune your crowd control, while being able to heal the damage that you're outputting.

Note: Don't be afraid to dive towers for kills, as Mail of Renewal will keep you alive as long as you secure the kill, and the amount of defense/health you have will make it easy to tank tower shots.

Well put together guide. I've just recently started playing Xing Tian. So far your powerhouse build. Which is build two is my favorite. I have had to switch out mail of renewal for Mantle of discord cc, which i found out to be a better build with manual of discord i stead of mail of renewal. Either way it's a stout build. Great job on the guide. For a first time Xing Tian user it has helped me to become a better Xing Tian player. Which now he is my favorite guardian due to your guide and build. Thank you a lot.

I am surprised Breastplate of Valor isn't mentioned here. I would definitively consider building that after Shoes of Focus, then jump into Mystic Mail. The reasoning here is that you want to get those long *** cooldowns as soon as possible and you get physical protection too.

You don't have to drop Lion as you can still build that last (Rage/Malice/Deathbringer are normally bought later in the game as last items).

Not quite sure about Reinforced Shoes though. You could just build Bulwark of Hope so you don't miss out CDR from Shoes and get CC reduction (you can always build Spirit Robe/Mantle of Discord later for those CC heavy team comps too).

Good guide, always love seeing more people playing Xing :)

The only reason I didn't mention Breastplate of Valor is because I don't find cooldown to be that major for Xing, I find it very easy to stay in the fight without it, however it definitely is an option. If I were to run Breastplate of Valor it would likely replace Pythagorem's Piece. As for Mystical Mail, it is almost always my second or third item.

Hide of the Nemean Lion is more of a situational item, as you don't really need it unless the enemy team has one or more basic attackers, although I would likely move it to a later item slot.

I only ever use Reinforced Shoes if the enemy team is very CC heavy, however there are much better alternative items, this was simply an option to help against CC in replace of a bit of cooldown. Spirit Robe and Mantle of Discord are much better items overall against CC.

Hopefully that was able to clear things up a bit ^.^

In your alternative build, you have Reinforced Greaves, an item that only applies to physical gods. You also said they give physical protection, which is not the case. Reinforced Shoes would be the ones he could get.

Good spot, I had Reinforced Shoes originally, and then I second guessed myself and changed it to Reinforced Greaves, it'll be fixed momentarily.
