Introduction

Hey all you Smite players! This will be my first build and it's for Anubis as you can see^^. Well let's get on with it now shall we?

In-game I am the player KoopaKing. I'm sure some of you might have played a few times with me and perhaps even jousted. My main hero/champion for this MOBA game is Anubis. After this new patch released somewhere around 12-23-12 I have found this build of mine to be quite effective and fun to use. It's a build that focuses both on Magical and Physical. Why I chose a mixed build is because I found Anubis to be particularly vulnerable without his skills because he has little escape ability and low physical.

Pros / Cons

Pros
Damage is literally GODLY
Joust potentional is enormous or 1v1
Pretty decent sustain with any magical lifesteal item
Makes a great ganker (just drop a stun and the third skill or ulti)
PERMANENT STACKS no need to be afraid to lose stacks (no "death penalty"

Cons
Escape ability is pretty low (once he gets into a "fight" you usually kill or be killed)
Aegis Amulet or Purification Beads nullifies stun :L
Low health but I'm sure you don't need that much

Items

So for my Main Build I focus a lot on getting as much permanent stacks as possible so that by level 15 Anubis' full potential can be and will be release Physically and Magically

Bancroft's Talon
It's a great beginning item and if you want the best sustain you level it up to rank 2 immediately as you begin the match. Normally I up it up to rank 1 only so that I will be able to get the rank 1 for Demonic Grip. Together they make a pretty decent starting item combo.

Demonic Grip
This item normally would be bought with a Bancroft's Talon rank 1. This item is where the mixing begins. It starts Anubis off with 10 Physical Power and adds an additional 5% attack speed. But this item only helps the Magical Portion when it reaches a rank 3. At rank 3, Demonic Grip gains the passive ability to reduce any enemy's magical protection with stacks up to 3 times.

Book of Thoth
The Book of Thoth should be bought when you at least have a rank 3 Bancroft's Talon and a rank 2/3 Demonic Grip. this is to ensure a maximized usage for the rank 1 Book of Thoth. The Book of Thoth at rank 1 adds 30 Magical Power, 25 additional mana, 5mp5, and +5 focus(still trying to figure out what focus does ._."). Then at each level these benfits increase so that by rank 3 you get a full 100 Magical Power, 125 additional mana, 25mp5, and +15 focus. To make this package even better the Book of Thoth also adds an amazing passive ability that will help out your physical side at the next item. Book of Thoth's passive ability gives you a permanent gain of +10 mana per minion kill (max 50 stacks). Additionally, Book of Thoth's converts 3% of your mana to magical power. So at the max 50 stacks, Book of Thoth will give an additional 500 mana+ the 125 mana= 625 mana. This alone gives you 18.75 additional magical power. This might seem like a measly number but please remember that you normally start of with 280(+58) mana at every level so....think about it.

Transcendence
Now this item is the second item that helps mix up Anubis. Transcendence helps by giving another 10 physical power, 100 mana (freaking incredible if you rmb that rank 3 Book of Thoth gives only 125. Then +2 mp5, and +5 Focus. At rank 3, Transcendence gives an additional 35 Physical Power, 300 mana, an increase of mp5 and Focus, but most importantly a bunch of other permanent stacks that makes you gain 10 mana per minion kill (max. 50 stacks). Also 2% of your maximum mana is converted to physical power. So let's do some math again. 625 mana from a full stacked Book of Thoth and then an additional 800 mana from Transcendence and so it's a total of 1425 manax .02 it gives an additional 28.5 physical power. Let's also recount the power of Book of Thoth. 1425x.03=42.75 additonal Magical Power.

Warlock's Sash
Warlock's Sash is like a defenite must for any magical god. At rank 3, Warlock's Sash gives a full 400 mana +200 additonal mana at max 100 stacks. So if you add it up with Transcendence and Book of Thoth, it's a total of 2025 mana. 2025x.03=60.75 Magical Power and then 2025x.02=40.5 physical power. (PS if anyone can do the full math for each and every item + an Anubis level 20 I would be more than glad to do +rep for you)

Polynomicon
In my main build, Polynomicon should only be used if you find yourself losing a lot of life very often. If not, then it's suggested that Polynomicon should be switched out for Rod of Tahuti. Not only does Rod of Tahuti add 125 magical power, but it increases your magical power by a whole 25% (1/4 of your magical+your current magical). However Polynomicon is useful in that it had lifesteal, additional mana (more conversions fyea), an to top it off a nice last +75 magical power boost. Keep in mind that Bancroft's Talon allows your magical power to increase as you lose life so this build is built off of only that one risk.

Possible Items (For Substitution)

Magi Boots
This item increases your speed like all the other boots and give some minor stat boosts so I don't really use it much.

Doom Orb
This item is much better than Warlock's Sash but the chances of losing all your stats are pretty darn high if you get ganked or anything. So just be careful when using this as a substitute. Wouldn't want to lose those precious stacks if I were you.

Ethereal Staff
It's a pretty decent item to get after getting Warlock's Sash. At rank 3 it gives you an extra 600 hp, hp5, mana (more conversion) and mp5. The passive skill is what's best though. It converts 1.9% of you life to magical power. It might not seem like much but it does help out.

Gem of Isolation
This item is also a switcher for Polynomicon. Sacrificing some lifesteal, you gain the ability to slow opponents. Also it gives some magical power, mana (conversion), health, and some additional focus. From slowing your enemies its possible to hit them again with skills or perhaps auto attacks.

Hands of the Gods
I suppose for whatever reason you want to start off with a mana buff, do it with a HotG. and then a Grasping Hands. Perhaps have your lane partner help you just in case. Don't need you dying so fast. But later on it's pointless. Luckily we are allowed to sell actives now! Huzah!

Obsidian Shard
Sure switch out Demonic Grip for Obsidian Shard if you guys don't trust the physical power addition haha. It just adds some penetration and some magical power

Spear of Magus
Just like Obsidian Shard, it has penetration. Switch with Demon Grip if you love full AP that much.

Wards
They're helpful later on and in the beginning of the game. You and your team will be able to catch jungle movements such as when the enemy team goes for the Fire Giant or Gold Fury. Perhaps even for a gank. It's just a helpful "tool".

Pythagoream's Piece
Mana (conversions), lifesteal, magical power, focus, and an amazing buff passive. Switch for Demonic Grip if you want.

Aegis Amulet
This item is solely for emergencies. Also helps nullfy certain ulti's such as Ares, Ymir, Hades, etc. invulnerability for 2 seconds. Great isn't it? Mostly use it for arena though

Purification Beads
The "nerfed" version of Aegis Amulet. Helps nullify stuns and slows every 90 seconds I think? Pretty good.

Potions
They're helpful in helping you for the first few levels and the end of the game when you don't know what to spend your money on

In conclusion, items such as Demonic Grip and Polynomicon can and may be switched with these items if you want. These are just what most people would switch them to.

Skills

Plague of Locusts
rarely upgrade it after once. I max it out last because I rarely use it. You're "stunned" in your position making it easy to target you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mummify
Anubis' stun. Helps escape, gank, and destroy. Oblivion is served
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grasping Hands
Anubis' second to best skill. First being his ulti ofc. This does a slow on the enemy allowing you to smash them with auto attacks (leaving penetration stacks if you bought Demonic Grip). And simply stun and kill him off. Dinner is served doggy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Death Gaze
Many say that this ulti needs to be nerfed but I disagree. He is nerfed to the position he's "not allowed to move". Just like Breath, it makes Anubis very vulnerable. Only use this when you have them mummified and inside Grasping Hand's AoE when they are finished with their stun. Guarantee kill 98% of the time. Unless they're a tank. But I killed a Ymir lvl 20 fully built before so no biggie guys :)
Team Work
TeamWork
Anubis being a Death "God" might seem very lonely but to me he lanes best with those who slow, stun, or do some type of CC (crowd-control) to the enemy. Sobek works too because one of his skills throws the opponent's in Sobek's desired location and so as soon as that guy/girl lands, stun immediately and go for the kill. It's all good. Stuns help you by allowing you to focus on your damage skills. So you could be maxing out Grasping Hands because Ymir will do the stunning for you. Others such as Hades pull the enemies inside his range which is really helpful because it makes mummify a guaranteed stun.
-still have more edits to do such as color and stuff like that. comments and criticism is welcomed
If you use my main build but switch polynomicon with rod of Tahuti I guarantee you'll hit almost the max dmg at the same time reach a bit over half point for physical dmg...plz try it before saying that. It's fine though to have doubts
I'm sorry but i don't see Hybrid Anubis working out at all , 2/4 spells you need to continue channelling it for it to have actual effect , if you want to throw random basic attacks while things are on CD , you have less chance to dodge attacks meaning you will be more likely to die as your only tanking item is Warlock's sash. For demonic grip to have any effect on your spells you need to be auto attacking the enemy god before starting your combo , which would give them time to either stun you or run around you to make it harder for you to hit him , or run away if it's the given time to do so.
As for jungle camps , lvl 3 Doom orb and another lvl2-3 magical item at level 9-10 can easily clear a jungle camp in 5 seconds , so the need to basic attack them isn't really needed.
And as my last point , if you go hybrid the chances of you one-comboing a carry becomes lower and lower and you go into 2 stats while they gain health over levels and defensive items
Good guide, Just to let you know most junglers and burst gods can take out jungle camps almost instantly so it's not that big of a deal that anubis can so it's not really a pro.
