Introduction

Hello everybody! Ragingstorm here with a Vamana Guide to present to the people of SMITEFire. This guide is to help those players already familiar with the weapons, and it's many rules. However, for those whom need help knowing what items do what effects, then I have created a reason for the items section. I have been playing smite for about six months now, so I suppose I know some knowledge on Vamana. Please do not consider me as some sort of pro, and remember! Enjoy the game!

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ Amazing escape with Clear The Path
+ Good Survivability
+ Large Damage
+ Insta Cast Damage
+ Slow with Umbrellarang
+ Tower Dive
+ Could be built multiple ways

Cons

- Improper Defense
- Playing Too Aggresively
- Using Clear The Path at wrong times
- Rushing into things
- Map Unawareness

Therefore, Vamana is almost godlike (No pun intended), he can hold an enourmous amount of damage, and he can easily escape just as well. His Ultimate is like Hercule's Mitigrate Wounds Ability with even more healing applied. For people that like dishing out damage, not allowing enemies to escape, and make everyone fear and run away your Ultimate. Then Vamana is a must-go for you.

Skills

When Vamana is not in Colossal form, taking damage from gods causes the cooldown to decrease by 1 s. When Vamana is in Colossal form, taking damage from gods increases the duration by .5 s, up to a max of 10 s. Additionally, 15% of Vamana's Physical Protection is converted to Physical Power.

This wonderful passive allows Vamana to activate his Colossal Fury more often, allowing the player to activate it when they're simply low on health, the passive also allows Vamana to towerdive longer because damage increases his Ultimate duration.
Vamana opens his umbrella in front of him and sprints forward, doing 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+60% of your physical power) physical damage to all enemies and knocking them into the air. Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana. Cooldown: 15 s.

I'd personally use this skill for escaping only, unless it's early game, and I just want to troll the emeny. Otherwise, use this skill for escaping purposes only, or chasing an enemy absoulutely knowing that you can kill him. Max this last.

[/center]
Vamana infuses his umbrella with his armor, reinforcing it while he strikes forth, doing 85 / 140 / 195 / 250 / 305 (+100% of your physical power) physical damage to all enemies in a cone. Cost: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 mana.Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 s.

This attack deals great damage, easily killing an anubis in 3 strikes of this ability. Max this as soon as you can, without skipping points into your Ultimate. This attack is also an instacast, making tower dives faster, and escape as soon as the ability is used. Use this with your next ability Umbrellarang.

Vamana spins an umbrella out infront of him, hitting everyone in its path for 50 / 85 / 120 / 155 / 190 (+40% of your physical power) physical damage and slowing your enemies attack and movement speeds by 25% for 3s. After reaching its destination, the umbrella returns back to Vamana, hitting everyone in its path again. Cost: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 mana. Cooldown: 13 s.

This ability is great in slowing down an enemy, use this during times when you're chasing an enemy, or escaping. It should be maxed after Armored Umbrella this attack also allows the player to go into Ultimate, and autoattack an enemy to death.

Vamana grows to an enormous giant for 6 or more seconds (depending on Sleeping Giant). While Vamana is enraged, he gains, 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 protections, 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 physical power and regens 3% of his max health every second. Additionally, Vamana's physical attacks now do damage to enemies around his target. You can right click to deactivate his giant form early. Cost: 100 mana. Cooldown: 90 s.

This Ultimate allows the player to do enourmous damage, with the addition of the fact that the player regenerates health, and gains physical protection. The ability can allow a player to towerdive, and escape while gaining health. This Ultimate makes the player practically invincible unless soloing against four full health enemies at the same time. With this ability, the player can possibly get a quadra or a penta kill crushing the enemy team.

Items

Finally, here we are at last, items for Vamana. After this information, the player has to decide which item suits Vamana at what time.

This item increases the amount of Damage he does, the attack speed, and critical. He also moves faster in and out of combat allowing a more deadly damage Vamana.

Frostbound Hammer is good for you and your partner to secure kills, creeping curse will do the same thing, but this adds health and a little physical damage as well. Take it when you're feeling that you're not successfully securing the kills.

This tool is a must-want for all AD physical units. With this item, Vamana can kill gods easier with his autoattacks.

Devourer's Gloves Only consider (Do not have to choose) this when midding, since most of the time you're on minions, in the long run, this item will be doing you a favor by constantly stacking depending on the minions you have killed.

Physical Penetration, get this when your opponents got some physical protection.

This item adds even more power while increasing penetration. It's passive is great, and if you feel like you need it, take it.

Late game, building critical allows for even more damage output, these hits allow the enemy to die in just three to four autoattacks.

By this time, with the deathbringer you will always be constantly dealing critical damage, roughly 600+ per hit, and 700+ per colossal fury. By now, the player is near invincible in damage, and if not. Vamana can either escape, or heal up using his Ultimate.

This attack allows one to become faster at autoattacks, while having physical protection against enemy ADs.

Allows Vamana Physical Protection while giving him more mana, cooldown times are reduced allowing faster output of Armored Umbrella

Witch Stone No reason not to have this as a protection item on Vamana. Great help for all of what he should be built for.

A generally good item for Vamana, allowing Magical Protection.

Magi's Blessing Absorb an ability and Magical Protection, very useful as a Protection Item for Vamana.

Good Magical Protection item for Vamana, allowing him to have a better MP5 and HP5 as well. This item is super viable for a tank like Vamana with the supported addition regeneration, especially in Colossal Fury mode!

Abilities

This item helps you and your ally secure kills.
This item is to help with Enemy Ultimates like Ares, as always, you can always go into Colossal Fury to escape it when your Aegis is on Cooldown.
This item helps you escape from nasty situations while moving, something that Aegis Amulet won't do.

Strategy for Damage

< Early Game >

Vamana, being the damaging tank, I'd put a first point in Umbrellarang as a lane clearer during a player's first ability. After receiving the buff, head back into the lane, and spam Umbrellarang to help clear waves, progressing on, once all the abilities are unlocked. Harass the enemy with the player's Armored Umbrella as often as possilbe, remember to hit the lane's carry. Always, remember to save your Ultimate or Clear The Path. Keep an eye on the mana bar, make sure you have enough mana to use your escapes.

< Mid Game >

Remember! Keep on harassing the enemy with Armored Umbrella. To make sure kills will be secured, use Umbrellarang or Creeping Curse. These abilities allow you or your lane partner to secure kills. Save Clear The Path and Colossal Fury during possible gank situations from a Loki, Anubis, or other powerful gods. If, you use Colossal Fury make sure to hit the enemy a few times as your physical power will be increased, but keep an eye on the time of Colossal Fury, and prepare to back up and get out ASAP once it's on Cooldown.

< Late Game >

This is one of the crucial moments a Vamana can possibly make or break his team. During one of the matches I've been in as a Vamana is that I can easily distract the enemy team to my attention by trying to take down a tower. During this time, my allies could easily go for the Fire Giant or Gold Fury. As the enemy team attempts to gank you, remember to start your Ultimate immeditetly after they come towards you. Do not wait! That is a crucial benefactor of Vamana. Due to his nerf, waiting until half health with Colossal Fury's regeneration will not make you invincible. Instead, use Ultimate as soon as you can. This allows more of a chance, and if they do indeed get your health down to low enough, by this time your allies will have already secured the major buff camp. Use Clear The Path to make a great escape.

Another thing, during teamfights, spam Umbrellarang late game as a far away harass. As someone initates, or yourself. Head in like the video below, and clean up enemies after enemies. Perhaps don't get too greedy, and let other teamates feed.

Strategy for Tank

< Early Game >

This kind of Vamana accels in harassing opponents at far range, and slowing them down. Remember! When you're playing this Vamana you're a tank, not the carry. Help your ally get those kills with Frostbound Hammer or Umbrellarang. Remember in early game to spam Umbrellarang and save enough mana for Clear The Path and Colossal Fury.

< Mid Game >

Right around mid game, you'll have substainable defense if you're building defense fully. Then by now, you'll be practically invincible, but less damage (Still quite alot for other full tanks). This all depends on your carry to damage the opponent. Remember at this time ganks will come often! Rely on saving your escape and Ultimate. Help your carry escape by using Clear The Path to knock enemies that are chasing your ally. Also use Umbrellarang often to slow them down. Don't worry, your Colossal Fury will save yourself. For now, concentrate on helping your allies out as often as possible.

< Late Game >

This is where fun begins. You are practically immune to all enemy's attempts to kill you. The best part here is to be the main distractor. Distract your opponents and help your allies take the win. Be paranoid for those ganks. Also, if enemies ever do come, make them run away with your Ultimate if you're trying to bail out someone from low health. Bodyblock the damage that was supposed to be received to your low health ally. If nothing goes wrong, then victory is yours! Keep the pressure up.

Duo Laning Partners

Many gods work well with Vamana, however, do not lane with other tanks. Even if they're building magical or physical like Odin. Here is some of the combinations a player could work with on duo lanes.

He's one of the exceptions for the rule of two tanks in a lane. Guan can easily build magical DPS, combined with Vamana's physical damage output. The two gods can easily secure kills. Guan's Tranquil Gift can help Vamana heal up during the Early Game, and keep opponents at the tip of their heels with his slows and his Ultimate Tactician's Advantage. On top of this, a Vamana player could use his autoattacks, and abilites to further bring the enemy down on health allowing for an easy, no escape kill.
This god's abilities to push a lane are amazing, the physical enemies will try to attack him instead of focusing on you, allowing your Armored Umbrella to easily take down their health. A good Ao Kuang knows the perfect time to place down their Tornadoes on top of them or to conserve it for you. With your Umbrellarang the enemy will be slowed for Spirit's Tempest to strike. If he doesn't get the kill, your Armored Umbrella and autoattacks will easily knock down the enemy.
Great pusher, like Ao. His heal, however, will keep you on the battlefield longer due to his Solar Blessing, his Divine Light provides a great slow so that you can ultimately land your hits on the enemy without ever using Clear The Path incase the enemy god does not die.

Technically, in general, all gods are all around good for Vamana those are just some of the better gods to lane with against enemies so that your friend can help you push, be agressive, and deal massive damage. Vamana doesn't have to fear enemy physical gods because of Colossal Fury. He gains more physical power than usual enemies, and he gains physical defense. One can even survive from Loki's high damage output with the ultimate included because of Vamana's ability to heal and dish damage back.

Enemies that Vamana would love to face

Below are some of the choices that Vamana would win 9/10 situations. Here are just some of the gods that Vamana could easily outmatch.

The feared All-Father, I'd say in my personal opinion, laning against an Odin will put Vamana in a greater advantage. In Odin's damage builds, with the addition of trapping a Vamana in Ring of Spears he'll be doing the Vamana a favor. There is only one thing to avoid during this fight. Saving Colossal Fury at the same time Odin uses his ultimate. Even with the addition of a Zeus in the same lane, Vamana's defense during his ultimate, and the build itself will offer a survival of Ring of Spears, Lightning Storm, and full charge on Detonate Lightning. Infact, because of the passive, since the enemy is continously hitting you. The Vamana will 6/10 times kill the Odin on the inside if you're aggressive enough. If not and you're a rather cautious player, try to avoid Lightning Storm's radius, and let your heal up.

Another quite feared god, capable of easily killing an enemy within three abilities. When playing Vamana against an Anubis, especially in mid lane. Be as aggresive as possible. Poking Anubis with Armored Umbrella, and each hit, Anubis will lose roughly 1/3 of his total health. If this god even dares to use Death Gaze on you, go into Colossal Fury, while healing and making it last longer, autoattack the enemy god to death. In general, the best way to avoid Death Gaze is to run close to Anubis and circle around him. It sounds like a ridiculous idea, but it makes the enemy focused on killing you allowing your autoattacks to hit the still target even easier.

In conclusion, all gods are technically easy for Vamana to escape or hurt, so long as a Vamana does not waste his Ultimate or Clear The Path. Making those two abilites on cooldown while an enemy is ganking your lane is definetly not wise.

Jungling

This might be surprising, but Vamana can indeed Jungle. With his Armored Umbrella and Umbrellarang he can easily take out camps mid game. Do not jungle with him early game.

Here is a map showing what buffs should the Player should take into account.

Strategy Pre Game
Starting in the left lane, if mid lane is helping you, then take out the Mana Buff first since there will be three people taking it out quickly. If not, head for the XP buff for quicker leveling.

Starting in the right lane, if mid lane is helping you, then take out the Speed Buff first, if not, XP buff.

If you're Mid Lane then go help the gods on either sides of the map. (Whichever one you perfer)

Note that other gods have Hand of the Gods so if they do, then take out the xp buff, then let them take care of the mana camp by themselves.
Mid-Late Game
This is when you can take out buffs quickly, take them out as fast as you can, going along the route of the map. Remember Armored Umbrella proceeded by Umbrellarang

Combos

Here are some of the combos that I'd like to use.

This combo should only be used when chasing after an enemy, absolutely sure that the enemy will be killed, be super cautious of possible ganks during or after this combo, because you will have tunnel vision becoming focused on one god the entire time. This attack pays off though, and remember to get autoattacks in between Umbrellarang and Armored Umbrella

Use this combo in times of finishing an enemy completely, and around other enemies that Vamana should be wary of. Such as going into a teamfight, and getting out of it alive. Sonmetimes running away with Clear The Path incase a team loses.

This power should only be used when trying to kill at least two enemies in a teamfight. Wasting the escape while rushing in causes a Vamana that will die unless killing off two out of the four or five enemies during a teamfight. This way, the enemy will retreat once your allies get into the action.

Tips and Tricks

The worst thing Vamana would ever do is going up against a gang by youself, or getting granked by them. Even the Lil Mana' skin won't help with this, no matter how much Swag Vamana can carry, four against one is never good.

Check the map! Most important thing, sounds like logic, but it seems as if no one bothers to check the minimap when they are solo-pushing, and most of the enemy are missing in action. Once you find this situation do this.

- Clear The Path as soon as possible, most likely head into the jungle as it'll be much less likely for them to find a player in the mist.

-If this occurs, and the enemy already spotted you. After the duration of Clear The Path cancel into Colossal Fury. This makes the player immune to crowd controls while escaping. Possibly use Sprint before activating to make sure you'll make a clean get-away.

-Stay very paronoid, I cannot stress this enough. No one seems to understand when a player is solo-pushing, and your teamates have already recalled or most of them are dead, run. Do not stay around, try to recall, and if they already came follow the tips above.

Vamana Domination

Here is a good example of how to attack with Vamana, a player ends up getting a Quadra Kill on him using a proper damage build. This quadra kill occured on the older verision of Smite.

With the addition of Rage and Deathbringer a Vamana can do constant criticals causing 600-700+ damage each time using the Ultimate, allowing for even more kills in a shorter amount of time. This also proves just how tanky Vamana can be at the same time, surviving a Spirit's Tempest and a fully charged Detonate Charge

Summary

In summary, Vamana is definitely one of the most powerful enemies to fear in game. Sure, the god looks like a joke and often will be avoided, focusing on the lane's other character. This is where Vamana gets deadly, he dishes out huge damage, a slow, and autoattack an enemy to an easy death. In teamfights, facing this enemy during his Colossal Fury causes a fleeing enemy team in seconds. I hope you all learned something from this guide and come out with a successful way to play Vamana. As always, use Clear The Path whenever you feel an enemy is about to gank you. Stay paranoid my friends! Until next time, Ragingstorm out.

It is a she xD

From Vanama's Lore:
Quoted:
Though small of stature, Vamana, the Fifth Avatar of Vishnu, should never be underestimated. His harsh lessons in humility have shamed even the proudest of kings.

And this is a good guide :).

It is a she xD there haven't been any changes to vamana, so it doesn't seem that needed to update it, maybe just write something about jungling and solo-laning :P

I do use sprint in fact, it's my top preference. The abilities can be changed if you feel like it but the extra ability slot that you have could be used for something to help even your ally and not just you.

Why dont u get sprint to Vamana? It does so u can hit ur ult easier and not only hit 1-2 autoattacks, but its just imo
