Hey there. I'm Flarebear97 and this is my guide to the Neil Peart of Smite. Rajin.
The Japanese God of thunder!!
This is my first guide and this God is brand new so I'm completely open to any and all tips and tricks you may want added to this guide. Leave 'em in the comments below.
This is a guide for Solo Lane so as a general rule we will be building tankier than a respective build in Mid.
However, this is not to suggest that Rajin is a tank. NO NO NO. On the contrary, based on my experience with this god so far he needs to be focused primarily on DMG output and pushing Solo Lane if you want him to work. Just because he's a big red dude doesn't mean he can take abilities for days.
With that in mind let's get onto the abilities and Items.
PROS
Great lane pushing/ poking.
Hella utility with his ult.
Med/Fast tower destruction speed.
Has an escape/ gap closer.
Good AOE with Raiju
CONS
Squishy early game.
Little Health sustain.
Medium slow cooldown.
Damage relies on passive early game.
Risk/Reward with the 3. Don't get greedy.
Passive: Hit the drums 4 times either through auto attack or ability and get 30% of your MP as dmg. Eaz Peaz
1: Hits drums 4 times. 1st hit slightly left, 2nd slightly right, 3rd and 4th go together and count as 2 hits. This is essential for wave clear and poke against solo laners with little poke ability. Hence, I recommend you upgrade it first.
2: Raiju goes and chills in an enemy's belly button then hurts them and up to 5 nearby enemies when you hit them with any attack. I recommend leveling this 2nd to make wave clearing and poking even easier. In team fights, this little bugger can deal 260 + 70%MP in damage to all 5 of the opposing team if used correctly.
3. Leap, deals damage and mez then you land on them and deal double that dmg +60%MP total. I recommend leveling this last because the greed can become a risk if you know that you have a 180 dmg leap. you need this to escape so as a general rule you shouldn't use it to initiate and unless you are super confident in your escape/ judgment ability it shouldn't be leveled 2nd. Raiju is more important to your kit.
Ult: Hit 4, pressing 1 does 100% dmg, pressing 2 does 50% and taunts for .5 sec, 3 does 50% and fears for .5 sec. This ult has hella utility and scales just fine. Level when you can. Something to keep in mind is that you can still be hit while in it. You are not safe from death just cause you hopped in your ult and tried to get off 2 sec of fear on the enemy.
1. You need Boots, Duh. I start with SHOES OF FOCUS but SHOES OF THE MAGI is also viable. This is a trade off. With Focus you get more early sustain with 250 mana, cdr and still a decent amount of MP. Magi however, grants you more MP and Mpen. This really comes down to if you are snowballing early, if yes, get Magi, if no then go for a more conservative approach then go Focus. Grab health pots, wards and teleport (essential for solo lane unless your enemy laner has hella cc then get beads)
2. WARLOCK SASH is the cruz of this kit. It gives you a total of 600 additional health, 400 Mana (hello sustain) and a bunch more Mp. Play safe here and out-farm the enemy while poking them with raiju placed in archer minions and your 1. Positioning and warding their jungle is crucial here. Don't get ganked, if you do teleport back to lane and begin farming again. coordinate with Jg for ganks and mana buff.
3. OBSIDIAN SHARD. Easy. MP and Hella Mpen. Grab it because it's great for almost every mage in solo lane.
4. Time for some creativity. Generally, here I would say get some defense unless you are really confident in your ability to defend against ganks and enemy laner. If you are against a melee god BREASTPLATE OF VALOR is #1 choice. It gives you Phys Def, more Mana (YAY) and more CDR which is very nice to your electric dog buddy. This also helps with the majority of melee assassin ganks you will be up against.
For a solo lane mage you can go BULWARK OF HOPE for Health, Mresist and a nice little shield, or VOID STONE for MagDmgRes and MP. If you are against a combo of Magical and Physical worries (Ie mage and phys jg or warrior and Ao Kuang then opt for one of the Combo Magical and Physical Resist items)
5. More Damage! Grab one of these things. I recommend BANCROFT'S TALON because when you are low on health your attacks will do more dmg and therefor heal you back quicker, and lifesteal is just great. Also, look at that MP! SPEAR is also great for Dmg output, the other two are situational. You do you, make sure you're counter-building fine and you'll be good.
6. ROD OF TAHUTI, was there any question? I guess you can grab something cheaper if your team needs to get back but at this point ROD is normally your best bet.
So that's Raijin in solo. In general, just make sure that you constantly check the mid, jg and solo laners build and counter build them. Raijin can push waves like crazy and raiju allow for crazy pokes. Make sure to utilize the ult for team fights, it can save lives soooo easily. GlWP. Go out there and slay with red hulk in solo.
