Passive - Unyielding
Unyielding is a very passive….passive. There is nothing you have to do differently to take advantage of I, it simply makes you harder to pin down. It does work on things like
Ymir’s Freeze, but not on
Athena /
Erlang Shen’s taunts unfortunately.
Big tip, this passive does apply BEFORE CCR, not after. So if you have the 20% from
Bulwark of Hope, CC’s will actually only last .8 seconds. You can make a 3 second stun last .6 seconds if you want!
1 - Fearless
Fearless is basically the first half of
Tyr’s kit. Your Assault Stance bread and butter, this ability does an insane amount of base damage (remember it hits twice), as well as comboing into
Power Cleave and allies abilities. You can hit everyone with this, and mowing down 3 gods + a minion wave at the same time is the most satisfying thing in smite.
Ive noticed on console that this ability can go in a weird direction if used while turning, so try to let go of the left thumbstick before you activate it.
PLEASE pay attention to the direction you will push the enemy.
Good directions: your tower, your jungler, a wall, into an AoE
Bad directions: their tower, your midlaner, out from under my LIGHTNING STORM RIGHT AS I DROP IT
In Defensive stance, it is simply a nice escape/chase or last bit of damage.
2 - Power Cleave
Power Cleave is the 2nd half of
Tyr’s kit. In contrast to
Fearless, this ability is your Defensive stance go-to. In Assault stance this is basically just the third, extra-hard hit of your
Fearless, since you will nearly always activate them together.
In Defense Stance, this heals you for about 1/6-1/3 of your health (depending on your level). Its seriously insane the amount of healing this can provide. Especially since while it starts at a 12 second cooldown, by level 10 it will be sitting at just 4.8 seconds.
Tyr owns the mid-game because of this, since you only have ~1300 health at that level, a 420 heal every 5 seconds is just ridiculous.
It also still does the same damage as in Assault stance, so spam this every chance you get in defense.
3 - Change Stance
Change Stance is
Tyr’s second passive. Hitting this just switches to your other 2 abilities, costs no mana, and changes your second passive from Power to Protections. The power is a nice small bonus, but the Protections is basically a free 7th item.
Because of how long the CD on this is, and your main combo needing to start in Assault and then switch, you will be spending most of your non-combat time in Assault, to ensure
Change Stance is off CD when you need it.
If you are below half health, I would recommend staying in Defensive stance until you are healed up, both for the extra protections in case of ganks, but also for the healing opportunities presented by minions and jungle camps.
4 - Lawbringer
Lawbringer is the extra 10% on top of
Tyr’s kit. Its not a great ability, but he already has 4 abilities and 2 passives so what can you ask for? Basically its just a standard damaging leap ultimate like so many warriors has, without the extra something. (Like
Ravana’s link,
Osiris’s anti-heal,
Sun Wukong’s cloud)
The downside to this one especially compared to the others is the super long cast animation, which makes this harder to use as an escape. Since you already have a good one in Defensive
Fearless, that’s not a huge deal, but keep it in mind. This really should only be used as an escape, chase when you know you wont need the escape, or in rare cases a team fight disruption since its fairly flashy and will draw people’s attention to you and off your squishys
