Hello everyone, I go by the name of Poth, and welcome to my very first build. I would have to say that The Morrigan has inspired me to start writing guides, just as she has with several other people of like minded-ness. I will try to help detail this guide as best as I can, in hopes of helping at least a few people achieve success.
Soul Stone works very well considering the basic attack type of The Morrigan. Her passive automatically makes every third basic attack an AOE. This could give her quite a good start to damage in the beginning of the match. |
Although Shoes of Focus may grant some extra Cooldown Reduction, in the case of this build, we want higher amounts of burst damage. So we want to go with Shoes of the Magi for the extra magic penetration, in order to level enemy gods, rather than scrape them down. |
Book of Thoth is used in this build to give you the mana you will require to sustain the high damage output from your abilities. This also helps maintain the necessary mana to combo and still give you a way out of with your third ability. |
Here we use Chronos' Pendant to give us the 20% cooldown reduction. While you could go with a couple other items of choice to provide this, Chronos' Pendant also provides us with a pretty massive amount of damage output by giving us a bit of Magical Power. |
We want to use this over most other penetration items for a couple of reasons. 1. Obsidian Shard provides a solid amount of penetration 2. The crazy amounts of damage The Morrigan can do, are better off being used with a one time burst of penetration. |
This is an item that can come in handy towards later game. The only reason I say later, is because it takes a bit of gold to buy, and trying to push this early game could throw you off. I'm not saying you can't switch up the build to purchase this earlier, but it would be slightly more difficult. It provides you with a ton of Magic Power, and can give you combos that will leave the enemy team dead. |
This is the item I prefer in place of Soul Stone. It provides an extra burst of damage to your abilities equal to 10% of the god's health, AND if the ability hits multiple gods, it applies it to the god with the highest health. This is particularly useful with almost all of The Morrigan abilities. The cooldown on this item is 40 seconds however, but if you think about it, that gives you enough time to kill a god, retreat, refill, and get back out on the field. This is literally gold for this build. |

Doomsayer is THE passive to have. All your basics no matter hit or not, will automatically become an AOE every third attack. This means, you could literally miss the first two and because of the passive, the third won't only do extra damage, but can hit multiple enemies. Tired of aiming for the god? Shoot a nearby minion and claim the DOT and AOE kill as your own. This is a bad basic attackers dream of a passive.. |

Here we have one of the main damaging abilities. This is used in conjunction with Dark Omen in order to cause most of your enemies fatalities. It can also be used as a great stun in a team fight. Use it accordingly and don't waste it. You may need to use it to help yourself. |

A fantastic ability to level waves of minions or start your wombo-combo. You want to use this before Deadly Aspects to give them the damage amplifier that could kill them. You may not always be able to use this before hand depending on the situation, and it won't hurt too bad, but it's always a good thing to have in the back of your mind. |

This is a decoy that ACTUALLY works. Unless you're looking directly at The Morrigan, it's very hard to tell when she casts it. I still get fooled by it. Use this in conjunction with [deadly aspects] to make a quick escape. The stun gives you enough time to cast, and run. The added movement speed also helps catch up, run away, and side swipe. I have used this multiple times to turn invisible, catch up to a "lazy backer" (I see you!) and use my [dark omen] to quickly dissipate their remaining health. |

This Ultimate is absolutely game changing. It can either make or break you; I'll explain. If you've played a wide variety of gods/goddess's, then that should lower the chance of being stuck in a match with little to no gods that you can play. If you haven't however, I would recommend you brush up on some of the abilities of the more used gods, because you'll have to use them sometime. On a plus, this is almost like having two ultimate abilities. The god/goddess you choose, will give you their ultimate right away. So need an escape? Thanatos AWAY! Or maybe you need invulnerability, Aphrodite please.. Either way, always look at all your options and pick the best one for the fight. You may not need to use one particular form the entire match. Keep that in mind. |
I really hope that I was able to help out as many people as I could. Please remember that this is my first build and that it may not be perfect. BUT if you have some form of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism you would like to share, by all means please do. I enjoyed making this guide very much and would like to possibly create more. So feedback is welcome. Also, let me know if there is another item you think I should change, or if you were one of those "Think outside of the box" kind of people, and have a whole new setup. Don't be afraid to let me know, I'm always looking to improve my own game play.
Much Love, Poth712
