Introduction

Welcome to my Anhur guide for Smite! Here I will show you how I play Anhur, what I buy, and why I do all of this. Anhur is one of the most powerful ranged carries in the game, but is often played incorrectly.
This is a guide on how to play Anhur in the mid or solo lanes, as I almost exclusively play him there.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
  • High single target damage
  • High amount of CC
  • Has 3 abilities to help escape
  • Good wave clear
Cons:
  • No AoE damage/abilities

Skills

Enfeeble

Anhur's spear attacks reduce the enemy targets physical protection by 15 for 3 seconds.
His passive is very effective early game, but drops off quickly. 15 protections is roughly half of the average natural physical protections, so with one basic attack Anhur can effectively half any god's resistance to him. Late game, however, 15 becomes rather irrelevant, as natural protections get higher and higher.

Shifting Sands

This is one of Anhur's best abilities. An obstacle, slow, and damage buff all make this ability very versatile. The key to Anhur is being able to erect the pillar behind an enemy, and using Impale to stun them on the Obelisk. The damage buff will allow your basics to hit even harder, and combined with his passive, he hits very hard early game. I level this ability 2nd.

Impale

This ability is also very good, as it can be used to aid in escaping, stun enemies, clear waves, and it does massive damage. Early game this ability is used to clear the wave, while later it is used for its stun. Stunning an enemy into your Obelisk is called a 'pillar stun'. I level this ability 1st.

Disperse

This ability is excellent for escaping, chasing, and control. Personally, I use it to jump on an enemy, as the knockup allows me to land my impale for free. I only do so however if I know where the enemies are, and I'm sure I'm in no danger if I don't have an escape. I level this ability last.

Desert Fury

This is Anhur's early game damage. Following up a pillar stun with some basics and Desert Fury will finish off most (non tank) enemies at low levels. I pull off my combo by using Disperse to jump on the enemy, knocking them towards a wall. Then, I place Shifting Sands next to them, and Impale them into the wall, or my Obelisk. I then unleash Desert Fury, and finish them off with some basic attacks. This is enough to slaughter most mid lane mages, such as Zeus, Ao Kuang, Poseidon, Ra. He Bo and Agni are a little more difficult however, as He Bo can Crushing Wave away as soon as the stun ends, and Agni can use Path of Flames to dash away as well.

This guide is incomplete!

You have probably noticed that this guide is a little bit lacking, and that's because I'm not finished yet!
Unfortunately, I don't have the long amounts of time to write this in one sitting, so I have to save it. However, the save mechanic that Smitefire has is to just publish what you have, so here we are.
I should have this guide completed some time, probably.

Um, the guides have save buttons, you know. Maybe it was different a while ago, but you don't have to publish immediately.

If this is as good as your Anubis guide, I'd like to review it. Please PM me when this guide is finished.
