Introduction

Hello and welcome to my 17th overall guide and its going to be on The Hand Of Death this guide will feature 2 jungle routes and 2 styles of play in the jungle.

Thanatos is a jungler without exception he is not meant for anything else at all not solo not duo or mid do not play him there even though he can have great sustain its gonna be easy to poke him out as he needs to last hit for that sustain...

i will assume that you know the basics of what AA FG GF AD and AP mean as well as AoE MIA CD and CDR but just in case:

AA - Auto Attack

FG - Fire Giant

GF - Gold Fury

AD - Attack Damage

AP/MP - Ability Power/Magic Power

AoE - Area Of Effect

MIA - Missing In Action

CD - Cooldown

CDR - Cool Down Reduction

HP - Hit Points/health bar

MP - Mana Points

HP5 - Health/hit Point Regeneration per 5 sec

MP5 - Mana point regeneration per 5 sec

DoT - Damage Over Time

HoG - hand of gods

Pros / Cons

Pros:

+ Very good jungler

+ very strong ganks

+ Great at chasing targets even more so when there low on HP(almost impossible to out run him)

+ amazing sustain from his passive

+ additional effect from his passive can let him see any god on the map within his ultimate thresh hold

+ amazing damage out put from spells and AA

+ can silence in large cone

+ Ultimate Hovering Death can be used to finish of targets run away or turn a teamfight around depending on the situation

+ Death Scythe is a very rewarding skill shot

+ Scent of Death is a great steroid/chase mechanic

Cons:

- Very Squishy

- Spells cost HP as well as mana to cast

- cant cast spells at very low HP

- Very weak to CC

- Hovering Death can be countered with jumps Aegis Amulet or a well timed dash or sudden change of direction

- Death Scythe is a skill shot

- depends on fast execution of his kit for his ganks to be the most effective

- ganks also depends on the ganking lane and requires proper initiation

- since all skills hit hard it can be difficult to let a ally take the kill as the damage can at times just out right kill the target

Skills

Passive: : When somebody can die to the execution effect from our ultimate there revealed to us on the map killing anything heals us for a % of there max HP this as great as we can see them were ever they may be when low on HP this can let us see a jungle sometimes doing a camp at low HP nearby letting us use our ultimate for a free kill at times... we also need HP and mana to cast.

Basic AA Progression: our AA have a progression of 1/.75/1.5 with the final blow hitting in a AoE this is why we get Death's Toll.

Spell 1: : this is our first spell its a line based skill shot that hits like a truck and slows the target this is also the skill we max 1st if were focusing ganks on mid/solo lane or just going for carry assassinations in duo lane.

spell 2: : this is our 2nd spell and its a steroid/chase mechanic that makes it really hard to run away from us or catch us even more so if were chasing a low HP target in which case we move even faster... the pen is also great early for ganks.

spell 3: : this spell is a cone shaped silence that deals fair damage we usually max this 2nd unless were not comfy with the skill shot due to the enemy have a lot of mobility then we max this 1st instead as they wont be able to do anything while silenced letting us do good ganks on the regardless of that escape if well timed anyway...

spell 4: : this is our ultimate we hover above the ground and can fly for a few sec we can go over walls and ect as well then we land in a aoe and if enemy gods in the AoE were on Low HP they are executed if not they take some damage and are stunned as we put points into it the execution thresh gold grows letting us execute targets sooner as well as see them due to our passive we can use it to run/chase/kill/change the time of fight by flying in from afar/execute low targets as we enter a team fight and ect...

this 1 is a bit of a wall of text but is important for all junglers but even more so for Thanatos.

now then about the part on what skill to max first Death Scythe or Soul Reap both skills are valid options for maxing first depending on play style and gank focus consider the next few factors when thinking about this:

  • will i be gankind mid and solo more then duo? or will i be focusing duo and mid?
  • what type of escapes and CC does each of these lanes posses
  • what is the CC and burst of my ally gods in those lanes
  • who is there jungler
  • do we have proper vision on the positions of other gods
  • how skilled is the enemy are they good at avoiding me and ect...
  • how skilled is my ally is this his main god or is he still learning
  • who is the biggest threat to my team and whats the best way to counter him
  • are they warded and waiting to ambush me when i try to gank? or are they warded but wont be able to retreat on time when i gank?

1.after you consider and learn of the above in early game you can chose which skill to max in case the biggest threats are mid/solo(solo AMC / other solo carries such as neith/or gods like hel that benefit the late game and ect... strong mid such as poseidon for example are also valid targets) either way if targets have no true escape mechanic or that you can deal with there escapes and that there only way of getting away is running max your Death Scythe for burst damage and its slow will in general be of good use either way here.

2.in the case that the enemy has great escapes like jumps and normal/long dashes consider maxing Soul Reap first as the longer silence will prolong there helpless state and Death Scythe has fair damage even at rank 1 as it also gains bonus damage from the enemy's max HP.

3.in both of the above your ally gods must take the chance you give them and jump in at a timed manner and combo there CC and burst/damage with yours and ect... for best effects to be made.

Items

Here i will explain the somewhat a bit more complex Build i recently started liking quite a bit:

1. i take this instead of Bumba's Mask as the damage and sustain from it are much much batter then what Bumba's Mask offers our passive in general is Bumba's Mask as long as we last hit anything it also works in the final aoe hit of our AA progression

2. gives use pen which we like as with our next item and our Scent of Death we have nearly true damage early game

3. gives us attack speed quite some life steal and pen it may not look that great but it is for us as its cheap and that attack speed is critical to us and its passive gives more life steal and can let us go back into the jungle and heal up to 80% or so HP if well used

4. this adds so much great damage to us and its additional life steal and attack speed as well as its AD is amazing for us

5. we attack really fast so we can proc its passive most of the time

6. it gives us a lot of AD and makes our crits much batter

7. this gives us a lot of AD and life steal though now it seems that we have to much life steal and they may be countering that with actives or items but dont worry as now we will sell Asi and replace it with out final item options

8.ajotun's wrath we get this if we need the CDR and our ultimate up more often i often find this a good option as it gives pen and good AD as well as some mana

8.b in case they have some protections here and there

8.c this is a usually fine replacement for Asi if you like attack speed this item gives almost just as much speed but gives us more pen both flat and % based as well as some AD

8.d its really rare but if a game is being really really passive you can sort of get even if you dont fully stack it up by the end of the game its basic boost to your AD is already so good that it makes the item worth it though we never have mana issues

8.e if we need a bit more speed and or crits this is the item to get it also works with our last hit AoE chain and its passive with our speed lets us deal some batter damage in a AoE and can be useful at times but in general any of the above is batter

8.r in case of heavy healers or self sustain type gods or users of meditation rank 3 of Shard or any other heavy life steal base builds and or gods like Fenrir

Jungle(Gameplay)(your always in here)(testing new way of presentation)

Jungle option 1:

-this is for when solo lane is right lane

  • start at mid camps on the right side
  • you now do the blue buff with the solo ideally the solo should hog it
  • you now solo red buff and ideally drink the potion of physical might
  • you now do the small right camps
  • you now do the small left side camps
  • you now head towards a gank on mid if possible if not go there for some poke
  • you leech exp from a few minions and get ready to contest or take mid camps again
  • you now go and pick up speed buff(orange) you can now either try and gank duo lane or
  • you pick up the now re-spawned small right camps then see if you can gank the solo lane
  • if you ganked solo lane leech exp from a few minions if you need 2
  • you now give solo lane there re-spawned blue buff
  • you now try to pick up and contest mid neutrals or you can pick up red buff if its up(should be around 10 sec before it is though) then get mid neutrals but i would recommend getting mid neutralsas potion of physical might is about to were off
  • you can now pick up the small right camps and re call back to base
  • you can now optionally pick up red for the gold if its of use or pick it up after a recall for items

now you buy items and go start from red buff and go around ganking lanes you chose to focus this is the ideal jungle route that only thanthos can pull off if well done(due to absurd sustain)

Jungle option 2:

this is in case that the duo lane is right

  • you start at mid camps with mid the duo should try and steal the enemy blue
  • you now head and meet up with the duo at there own blue and pick it up for them as well
  • you now solo red as you drink potion of physical might
  • you now do the small right camps
  • you now do the small left camps
  • you now depending on the situation you can drop blue for solo unless he took it him self
  • if he took it already try and gank either solo or mid and leech a bit of ext then get ready to contest or get mid camps again
  • you now pick up speed buff(orange) and try to get some ganks in at either solo or mid lane and leech some exp off of them
  • you now contest the re-spawned mid camps
  • you now can pick up the small left camps and then the small rights camps and go to duo lane for a gank then drop blue buff for them
  • you now go should go towards mid for a gank and leech exp off of a few minions
  • you now do the red buff that should be re-spawned by now
  • you now try and contest the soon to re-spawn mid camps

you now go back to base and buy items and start off going towards the small left camps and ideally the re-spawned/soon to re-spawn blue buff on left lane you then try and contest mid camps again and then pick up speed buff (orange) as red starts to were off you then go focus ganks on lanes that need it

Combos

1.when peforming a gank you usually go with Soul Reap AA Death Scythe Scent of Death to chase and AA some more if needed

2.you can open up some ganks with Death Scythe then lead it into a Soul Reap then AA and use Scent of Death as they run

3.some ganks can be initiated with your ultimate Hovering Death then while there stunned landing Death Scythe then hitting a Soul Reap then going with AA and casting Scent of Death to keep up if needed

4. method 1 and 2 can also be stared off with Scent of Death for its bonus pen to deal more damage if your positive you wont need it to chase further on though Hovering Death can finish them off but in most cases we want to save it for when we need it most and so on..

Summary

In General is a very effective jungler and is a fair pick he has weak points to cover his strong points and is well suited for aggressive players i hope my guide was of help to you i will be updating this guide further on with batter code and additional sections and jungle starts as i work them out im also releasing guides slower then usual so i can include more then 1 play style in them but this guy is specific to the jungle but there are many starts i just listed the 2 most common
