Introduction

Hey everyone, solo lane extraordinaire Bill Nye here, and we've got a fun one to write a guide about: Osiris. Osiris has fluxed in and out of the meta so many times, from being an unstoppable powerhouse to falling off about 2 minutes into the game. Osiris may not have the team fight presence of warriors like Amaterasu or Bellona, but he can be just as effective in them if you play him right.

Now allow me to welcome the king of boxing himself, Osiris!

May I also mention he has the coolest looking card in the game?

Summary

The thing about Osiris, is he's kinda tricky to understand. His Judgement Tether has a 4 second windup till it stuns, his abilities interact with each other to get cc, and his passive is difficult to understand. Once you do understand his quirks, his dominance will spread beyond just the early and mid game, and he'll be an incredibly powerful warrior in the end.

Pros:
  • Poke game on point
  • High defense and inherent dmg mitigation with Fragmented
  • AOE auto's clear the lane well
  • So many sloowwws
  • Healing reduction
  • One of, if not the best boxer in the game
  • Incredible early and mid game
Cons:
  • Only escape is Lord of the Afterlife and slows
  • Slow movement speed
  • Abilities require chaining off each other
  • Falls of a little late game
  • CCs weird to use and get use to
  • Pretty hard to use

Skills

Passive - Fragmented

Fragmented is the hardest part of Osiris's kit to understand. It gives 2% damage mitigation for every stack, totaling in an insane 16% damage mitigation. Abusing this and spamming as many abilities in a fight will give an amazing amount of protections. Attempt to walk into a team fight with around 6 stacks, so a combo of Sickle Strike and Spirit Flail will get you to max. Unless you're just ulting to initiate.

1 - Sickle Strike

This and Spirit Flail are Osiris's bread and butter abilities. Comboing them together makes a 40% slow, and if used properly, a 6 second long slow. Properly canceling these abilities is what makes Osiris an unstoppable boxer. Proper AA cancel chain is:
AA > AA > Sickle Strike > AA > AA > Spirit Flail > Loop as necessary
This attack chain makes Osiris only beatable by few Gods in a 1v1. Use this ability only as poke and boxing, this stops at the first target hit, and the damage scaling is minimal. The main point of Sickle Strike is control, so use it as a control ability and force people away from you.

2 - Spirit Flail

Besides what's been mentioned above, this is your poke and wave clear. Don't be afraid to use this as poke, as your autos are fantastic clear as well.

3 - Judgement Tether

One of the weirdest abilities in the game, Judgement Tether is a powerful zoning tool that buffs you and nerfs your opponents. It gives damage and a stun on top of it. It makes anyone tethered to you to run away, allowing you to get extra hits off. Use this to initiate fights as well besides boxing, it makes everyone run in terror.

4 - Lord of the Afterlife

Both your initiation and escape, Lord of the Afterlife needs to be used properly with forward thinking. If you need to shut down healing, ult on them, if you need a hard initiate, ult, otherwise save it for an escape or securing a kill.

Items

Item 1
VS

The first item you should build is no doubt Warrior Tabi, you need the power off your AAs to clear the wave and effectively box. However, at the end game, if you choose to build damage, especially Qin's Sais you'll need the extra attack speed; so it is acceptable to build Ninja Tabi in this situation.

Item 2

Breastplate of Valor is just fantastic in nearly every situation that requires being tanky. Giving a large amount of physical protections, good amount of mana, and 20% cooldown reduction, all for a very cheap 2350 gold.

Item 3

A staple of almost every single AA based God in the game, Frostbound Hammer allows Osiris to stay in the face of anyone while reinforcing his slows and destroying their attack speed. Frostbound Hammer gives decent health, power, and one of the best passive abilities in the game: slowing their movement and attack speed as long as keep hitting them with AAs, which is the root of Osiris's kit. It's synergistic and fantastic.

Item 4

Your magical protection item, Pestilence is a cheap item with an equally beneficial passive. Giving 200 health like every magical protection item, it also provides the most magic protection with 80, along with a healing reduction passive. If it isn't for you, the other protection items, Bulwark of Hope for the shield, and Heartward Amulet for the aura; are also viable options.

These items should usually always be in your build, the following are what you should have depending on the situation. No two games should have the same build. Unless you're a hunter.

Situational

If you choose to go the second start, you'll have the added attack speed instead of the the movement speed. If you're going up against a warrior or early game God, you're going to have a bad time; but if the enemy has a poor wave clear, this will help add pressure and fighting to your repertoire. You can still get Ichaival even if you get boots, and it might be better, but it's your choice to what you're comfortable with.

Situational

This is a tricky item to build, Qin's Sais needs penetration to really shine. The only pen items we can build on Osiris are Ichaival, Stone Cutting Sword, and rarely Asi. If you build two of them, then Qin's Sais can really shine. Otherwise pass on it.

Situational

If you're going up against slow, or need a good bridge item, pick up Winged Blade. Health, movement speed, CCR, and attack speed along with a great anti slow item, makes this a fantastic anytime item.

Situational

Take this and heed it, Witchblade and Frostbound Hammer attack speed reduction do not stack. You are welcome to build both in the case of a double hunter or attack speed heavy enemy composition, because the slow from Frostbound Hammer is nearly essential. The AOE slows and protection reduction from Witchblade do apply to everyone and do help immensely in 4-phys and hunter heavy comps, but Frostbound Hammer's attack speed slow will not work on anything if you do.

Situational

A cheap item with great stats and an everyday use passive, Midgardian Mail is a great pick in any situation. Not just in a niche that Witchblade is in, you can build this in any situation, and it will help shut down other Gods, and will allow to further improve your boxing game.

In the case of a lack of AA - Focused Gods, Spirit Robe is also a good choice.

Situational

The ultimate end game item, Stone Cutting Sword shreds protections from whoever your hitting and adding them to your own. Not only that it gives a large amount of power and movement speed. It does cost a lot, so this should be your 6th item.

Actives
teleport

Osiris is a warrior in the solo lane. They always get teleport and for good reason]]. It'll counteract your slow movement and aid in rotations and baiting.

Teleport is the only required active. Any of the following are good, but which is best is required in the situation.

meditationshell
Get one of these only if your support forgoes one of these for another active, i.e Ymir or Sylvanus getting blink. These are invaluable teamfighting actives, and are nearly essential for the late game.

wrath
wrath allows for jungle control, your jungle buff stealing game is incredible with this relic. You may even ought to get this before teleport, which is a little of a gamble.

curse
If you want to be really cheeky, curse for the additional slows will ruin the other teams fun and day. Also consider picking this up if going against a heal-heavy team comp.

Playing the Game

Early Game

Mid Game

Late Game/Teamfights

Conclusion

Osiris is practice heavy character, his skills and how they interact with each other are very odd, and requires practice to get right. With practice, you'll make even Amaterasu and Bellona jealous.

Witchblade + frostbound attack speed debuff will stack now it was in and update a little while back may have been the izanami update or somthing like that. Also i would recommend attack speed boots 90% of the time because ninja tabi help a huge amount with wave clearing and will often contribute the most for wining the lane more then any other item will! if wave clearing wasn't a problem warrior boots are always better

The Core items in your build seems fine except for Pestilence. It is a niche item against healers for that passive, and if there are no healers on the enemy team then thats a waste of a passive. Make sure to state that clearly in your Items section.

Qin's Sais might not be as effective without penetration but it is still constant damage to all targets, and works very well with your quick attack chain. I would recommend usually if you dont want to build too tanky.

Ichaival is not really a good pick unless you are against hunters in the solo lane, and most of the time people would build Breastplate of Valor to stay in lane more than your opponent. I can see it work if you manage your health pretty well and back off when needed, but definitely a risky pick.

I would say Midgardian Mail is just as situational as Witchblade cause of that passive. Witchblade provides more though in terms of cost and dealing with hunters.

The Playing The Game section is nice and simple although is a little bit of a wall of text.

Nice choice of relics and simple explanations.

Skill order error, ult should be leveled at levels 5 9 13 17 and 20.

Thanks for the feedback.

I see where the Pestilence note is coming from, but I think it works regardless if they have a group healer or not, because of the stats and cheap price. I did mention that if it isn't in your comfort zone, to get one of the other options. Midgardian Mail is the same thing, but I'll update it for other options as well.

I do agree with the Qin's Sais note and I'll update asap.

Ichaival is a preference item, but I agree.
