First, I would like to introduce myself:
I'm a Susano main with over 8.5k kills and I'm Diamond 2 in Conquest and Diamond 4 in Joust and Duel.
I have a Youtube channel with montages and guides: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa6zNZQ5cA4XBNEZnZYjM5A
In this guide, I will talk about builds, counter building, counter match-ups, AA-cancels, combos, early game and how to team-fight late game.
In my opinion, Susano is a skillful and useful Loki.
He can easily kill the squishy targets and get out, but he is harder to play than Loki, so you can mess up and die like a scrub.
When fed, Susano can kill any squishies with 1 combo, but when he's behind he only has his ultimate to help his team because he would deal no damage and he would die too easily
Pros / Cons
-Super high damage when mastered;
-Hard to catch;
-High outplay potential;
-High amount of AOE damage;
-Low skill floor;
-Hard to master;
-Useless when behind;
-****ty level 1;
-Dependent on his own abilities;
-Not great against tanks;
-Average late game.
I made a video about them, so there's no point to add anything.
Susano has lots of counters and most of them are the high CC tank Gods: Bacchus, Ymir, Athena, etc...
Or high AOE burst mages that abilities are easy to hit: Anubis, Zeus, Poseidon, etc...
Purification Beads are extremely important because of all the CC that Susano is susceptible of getting hit by.
When engaging with Susano, make sure most of the enemies' CCs are down. For example, if Ymir used his 3 (Stun), it's time to go in.
In Conquest, I always start with Bluestone Pendant, Bumba's Mask and 2 HP pots and mana pots.
Try to back when you have enough gold to buy Warrior Tabi.
After, I buy Hydra's Lament, Jotunn's Wrath, Titan's Bane, Heartseeker and Shifter's Shield.
Cheap, power and movement speed. Always build boots on every God.
Never build Ninja Tabi on Susano. He does NOT need attack speed.
This should be built for Susano because he's the God that makes the most use of it
with all of his AA cancels and it's cheap and gives early CDR.
This item is like the Lexus of items. Jotunn's Wrath gives everything you need for an affordable price and gives pen, power, CDR and mana.
Percentage pen is always needed. Supports, Warriors and most of the mid laners build some kind of defense, so percentage pen is better than flat pen.
Like Hydra's Lament, this item is made for Susano. With a normal combo, you can double proc its passive and it gives power, pen and movement speed and it helps a lot to burst squishies.
This item is too underrated; it gives power when above 50% HP (60 power total) and defense when below 50% HP (40 protections total). Some defense is always useful on Susano.
-If they have big healing like Aphrodite, Hel, Chang'e and/or Ra, switch Heartseeker for Brawler's Beatstick.
If they don't have a tank, you can switch Titan's Bane with Brawler's Beatstick so you will max out flat pen. *NOTE: Even if your flat pen surpasses the enemy's defense, you cannot deal true damage; the pen does cap at 50.
-Optional last item
If you don't like Shifter's Shield, you can build Masamune instead. If you want to go big balls, build Bloodforge. If you need more defense, build Mantle of Discord or Bulwark Amulet / Breastplate of Valor. This is a question of personal preference.
Items that you shouldn't build on Susano:
-Attack speed items;
-Crit (in ranked) because it's so funny; in casual, you can 2 shot people.
If the enemy has high burst. (Zeus, Poseidon, etc...)
When they have a lot of mobility or if you want to surprise them.
Bracer of undoing
Super useful to lower CDR when needed or a to have a quick burst of heal when needed.
When they have too much heal.
When the enemy doesn't have mobility.
Shield of Thorns
Only useful in Duel
You should basically always run it; best relic in the game.
Only good early game.
Duel or only against huge tanky targets.
I usually take Purification Beads and Bracer of Undoing. If the enemy doesn't have a form of hard CC, I take blink/bracer
if they have to high dmg mage i go aegis/beads
In Season 4, the jungle meta is more oriented towards supporting the Mid-Laner which I really hate.
You start in the mid lane with your Mid-Laner, you throw your 3 (Jet Stream) on the archers and you teleport to them if you can do it safely and hope that your Mid-Laner clears the front minions. If you out-cleared the enemy really hard, try to take their speed buff, but be careful.
If both teams cleared pretty much at the same time, go to your speed buff with your Mid-Laner. If you didn't clear the current wave before the next wave, clear the other wave then go to your speed buff. After your speed buff, you should be level 2, so put a point into your 1 (Storm Kata) and see if you can gank the solo lane. Tell your Mid-Laner to be careful and try to get a kill in the solo lane. If you can't, go back to the mid lane and help your Mid-Laner to clear the minions and go to his red buff with him. After, take the Mid-Harpies if you can.
Always check your minimap for a potential gank. If you can get a kill at the duo lane, it would be huge.
Never gank a lane if it's pushed or if you don't see the Mid-Laner or you don't know where the enemy Jungler is.
When you have enough gold for Warrior Tabi, recall to base.
Early Susano is super mana hungry, so use it wisely.
If you are fed:
Try to push a lane with your ally(ies) and take the Goldfury as often as possible. Be sure to communicate your intentions.
Gank as often as possible and if you need to camp a lane. Just don't camp for 20-30 seconds because you'll be missing a lot of XP and gold.
Try to clear the enemy jungle.
Stay with your Mid-Laner and be careful. Don't engage unless you know you can kill the enemy.
Stay in your jungle and ward the Goldfury and the Fire Giant.
Try to wait for the enemy to make a mistake to counter-attack.
For example, if the mage uses his escape and he has no other way to escape, tell your team to attack.
Susano is not really good late game, but he is not useless. However, mages and hunters will out-damage you, so be careful when you engage. If you want to attack, wait for the player to use his main damaging ability.
You can engage if you are fed. If not, wait for your team to engage, then try to go behind the enemy and use your ultimate (Typhoon) behind them. Charge it enough to knock them up and unleash it while following up with the rest of your abilities.
Same as during the mid game. When you are not fed, you don't really want to engage in a 1v5, so wait and be patient.
In all of my combos, I won't use my ultimate. Why? Well, you cannot really fit the ultimate during the combos, so, most of the time, you use it before or after the combo.
If you know you don't have enough damage without the ultimate, start with it. If you thought you had enough damage but finally you didn't, finish it with your ultimate.
Double Heartseeker proc:
Start your combo when you have 4-5 stacks of Heartseeker. Then, AA-2-AA-3-AA-3-AA-1-AA-1-AA-1
Normally, your 2 and the the last part of the 1 will proc Heartseeker
This combo is used to dive towers against low HP Gods. Normally, they think they are safe under tower and they underestimate your range. If you have Blink, you can do it even further. With this combo, you use your 3 to close the gap, so it will not land on the enemy and you need to have enough follow up damage.
This one is used when the enemy has his main mobility (escape) ability available,
like Neith's backflip, Anhur's leap, Agni's dash, etc... This is the combo:
AA-2-AA-3-AA-wait for their escape-TP-AA-1-AA-1-AA-1
You can perform more combos, but these are the main combos.
I will make a YouTube video shortly, so be sure to check out my channel frequently.
This is my in-depth guide.
If you have questions, build ideas, etc..., feel free to leave a comment. I'm open-minded, so I don't bite and I will not argue without backing-up my statements.
