The Beginnings of Surprising the Other Team

First things first, let's talk a bit about Bakasura, The Great Devourer himself.

Bakasura falls under the Assassin class, which, for our purposes here, means his autos hurt like a *****, and he's all about catching the enemy team with their pants down for easy double (or triple...or quadra....or even penta) kills. And when your teammates are unable to pick up a kill because they got caught by some sort of crowd control, slow, or just simply were unable to keep up with a faster opponent, it's your job to go on clean-up duty, provided you don't overextend and get yourself killed in a 1-for-1 trade. Trades like that may seem like a wash on paper, but if you die as a Bakasura, you're put at a surprisingly large gold and xp disadvantage which really hurts your mid- and late-game potential. I've found that with Bakasura kind of falling down in popularity in the current meta, a ton of people underestimate him, which puts you at an immediate advantage.

Anyway, enough of that. Let's get into the guide. That's what you came here for anyway, right?

P.S., this is my first guide. But I'm not saying any of that "please be gentle" ********. I'm a native English speaker, so give it to me straight. Any feedback at all is good feedback. "Nah mate, your guide is ****." isn't too good but "Nah mate, your guide is **** because x, y, and z." is much better. I'm still working on formatting too, so there's that.

Pros / Cons

PROS

  • One of the best boxers in the game -- NEVER fight a Bakasura 1-on-1. You will lose.
  • Silly amounts damage in almost all phases of the game
  • His ult -- if aimed properly -- can easily snag you multikills
  • Superb jungler thanks to his passive and 2
CONS
  • Can you say squishy?
  • Terrible initiator for any sort of teamfight (2v2 up to 5v5), but you shouldn't be doing that anyway

Skills

Before we go into the leveling order, let's go over what his kit does.

Passive: Insatiable Hunger
Bakasura's attack and movement speed temporarily increases for each enemy that he kills up to 3 stacks for a total of +30% attack and movement speed. 1st ability: Take Down
Bakasura leaps to a ground target location, and if he hits an enemy god, he does damage and reduces their physical protections by 20.
Eat Minions
2nd ability: Eat Minions
Bakasura eats a minion, healing himself, gaining protections, and gaining stacks for his ultimate, up to six stacks. 3rd ability: Butcher Blades
Bakasura passively gains physical power and imbues his blades with....something....which gives him a bunch of true damage on each hit. Ultimate: Regurgitate
Bakasura regurgitates minions consumed with his 2 (up to 6 total minions) to a decent-sized AOE which slows and cripples (that cripple is important!) enemies caught in the AOE. The minions regurgitated do damage and can bodyblock enemy gods. And his basic attacks become a small cone which damages ANYTHING unfortunate enough to be in it. Including multiple gods. The multikill potential is real.

Now, the leveling process is pretty straightforward. The first ability you want to get Eat Minions. This'll help you clear buff camps quicker, give you protections, and give you decent early-game sustain. Next up is Take Down, not for the damage, but rather the escape. Staying alive as Bakasura is pretty key to make sure you don't give the enemy any advantage you can avoid giving them. If you feel you're losing or going to lose a fight, jump out or over a wall to safety. Next up, Butcher Blades. ALWAYS activate this before fighting an enemy god. The damage you'll put out with it is insane, and the true damage means you can kill any tank 1-on-1 pretty easily as well. After that, you're gonna level max out your 3, then 2, then 1, your ultimate to level up at the very end. You only need the single point in your ultimate at level 5, and here's why: leveling up your ultimate does not increase your damage per second (dps) or burst damage at all. All it does is increase the slow in the ground target area of your ultimate. So, keeping that in mind, it's much more advantageous to max out skills in the order of 3 -> 2 -> 1 -> 4 as that will help your damage output.

Items

Now, before you discredit this guide and say "what the ****? This ******* is building two boots?? I'm out." I'm not actually building two boots. Looks like it, but I promise I'm not. The general idea of this build is simply to attack as fast as possible without overcapping (which is a very real concern with Bakasura's passive) to proc his true damage as much as possible. Physical power comes with his 3 and the attack speed items. But let's go over the build in order.

1st item: Ninja Tabi
I love Ninja Tabi for the early attack speed. You won't be holding on to these the entire game, but it helps to get the build up and running and gives you at least some early game viability.

  • These next two items are interchangeable in terms of which one you want to get first. If you're facing an enemy team that's a bit more aggressive and you need a bit more sustain, go with Bloodforge. If you're facing a team that's a bit more skittish and you need chase to pick up kills, go for Hastened Fatalis.

2nd/3rd item: Bloodforge
"Not Devourer's Gauntlet? What are you, insane? That fits with Bakasura's late-game killing potential!" Nope. Not Devourer's Gauntlet. Now, here's why: the early-game power spike you'll get from Bloodforge is enough to start a bit of a snowball for you and your team, and because your attack speed will be so insanely high late game, you'll almost always have max stacks on Bloodforge, which makes it almost on par with a fully stacked Devourer's Gauntlet. Plus, if you have a teammate who's stacking Devourer's Gauntlet or any other stacking item, you don't have to worry too much about splitting minions for stacks and you can pretty much just do your own thing and eat a minion every now and again.
I also hate how long Devourer's Gauntlet takes to come online. Bloodforge gives you good power and lifesteal at every phase in the game.

2nd/3rd item: Hastened Fatalis
I toyed with Frostbound Hammer for quite some time, and while the extra tankiness is nice and it allows the rest of your team to collapse on your unfortunate target, I found that Hastened Fatalis tends to serve me better because of my playstyle. Personally, I love juking people with Bakasura, and Hastened Fatalis makes that easier, while allowing me to stick to a fleeing target like Frostbound Hammer does. The attack speed and movement speed gained from Hastened Fatalis compliment Bakasura's passive quite nicely and (especially with a fully stacked Insatiable Hunger) makes it much easier to dance around enemy gods and their attacks/abilities. There have been plenty of unfortunate hunters that decided to box me while I have my Hastened Fatalis, and it was so easy to stick to them as they moved around while dancing around in circles, causing them to miss quite a few autos and letting me leave with a free kill nearly unscathed.

4th item: The Executioner
There it is. The staple of every physical auto attack-based god. Shreds physical protections, gives a good amount of physical power, and a pretty big attack speed bonus. Yes please.

4.5th item: Warrior Tabi
No, that's not a typo. I really meant 4.5th. You're not building into Warrior Tabi. Right after buying a full The Executioner, sell your Ninja Tabi and switch them out for Warrior Tabi. You don't need the extra attack speed they give you with the items you have now, Insatiable Hunger stacks, and the upcoming Qin's Sais you'll be building. If you keep Ninja Tabi, you'll overcap on attack speed, and lose out on an essentially free 20 extra physical power from Warrior Tabi.

5th item: Qin's Sais
This, combined with The Executioner, enables you to 100-0 any god in the game real quick. Including big, tanky gods like Ymir or Athena. The extra physical power is never a bad thing, and the attack speed that Qin's Sais gives, combined with all the other items in the build, coupled with a fully stacked passive, makes Bakasura a stupid fast moving and fast attacking buzz saw that every god wants to stay away from if they want to live. It's seriously so satisfying to shred the squishy gods in under 2 seconds while dodging all their attacks, and watching tanky gods' health fall to half and below in the same amount of time.

6th item: whatever you want except for more attack speed
This last item slot is really up to you: what you want/what is situationally the smartest move. You're up against an Ares/ Ymir/a ton of CC? Magi's Blessing works really well here. The enemy team is super squishy? Rage will cut them down real quick. Hell, you could even pick up a Frostbound Hammer if you really wanted to. Shifter's Shield, Void Shield, and Jotunn's Wrath aren't back pick ups, either. This last item slot is literally wide open to situationals.

Active Items

Here's where things can become even more situational. You have 2 active slots...what do you do with them?

First things first: you gotta get Greater Purification. This is a MUST HAVE on Bakasura. Crowd Control of any kind is his demise, and for you to escape really bad slows/pulls (like Hades's Pillar of Agony or Poseidon's Whirlpool) or stuns like Ymir's Frost Breath or, God help you, Ares's No Escape. I always build at least tier 2 beads after my second item, and get rank 3 after my third item.

I've found that Greater Aegis is actually really damn useful. Especially when there's a Nu Wa on the enemy team. I have a knack for escaping from teamfights with a scratch left in me, only to be killed by Nu Wa across the map thanks to Fire Shards. "Oh lookit that! I escaped! Juuuuuuust kidding." But really though. Aegis can help keep you alive just long enough so Take Down can come off cooldown and you can make a clean getaway. Would recommend.

Heavenly Agility is also never a bad option. It's easy to make escapes with coupled with Bakasura's movement speed since pretty much no god in the game can catch you. You'll be way too fast. Also handy for chasing down fleeing gods that blinked away or something, and as a nice little bonus, you'll receive extra healing from eating minions while this is active, and you'll give all those tasty bonus to your teammates too!

General Strategies

  • One thing I notice with new Bakasura players (including myself back in the day) is that they tend to try and fight enemy gods without any stacks in Insatiable Hunger. This puts you at a fairly large disadvantage due to your attack and movement speed, or lack thereof. That +10%, +20%, or +30% bonus to both attack and movement speed can be the difference between a kill on Xbalanque or a death.
  • Playing off that first tip of never going into a fight without any stacks on your passive, never go into a fight without Butcher Blades active. That's free damage you could be doing. Take advantage of it.
  • When being chased, eat a minion while you're escaping. It doesn't slow you down any, you get a movement speed buff because of Insatiable Hunger, and you gain protections. Yay, survive-ability!
  • Another advantage to Eat Minions is that you can eat a minion right before going in and attacking a god or three. The protections you'll gain will help mitigate more damage than you'd expect, and that'll help out your passive, too.
  • NEVER initiate a teamfight as Bakasura. You will get focused and die. Every. Single. Time. The only time you should ever initiate a fight is when you're 110% certain that it'll be a 1v1 and you suddenly won't be surprised with a 1v2, which results in , guess what, your death. You're much better off waiting for your tank to initiate so he gets focused (he's a tank, he can take it.) and while they're all concentrating on him, pop Butcher Blades and Regurgitate, yell "surprise!" and go kill people.
  • Save Take Down for escapes, and NEVER use it to initiate a fight. Occasionally you'll use it for chase, but 9 times out of 10 you'll only be using it to get out of a sticky situation.
  • You're an excellent jungler. Use that to your advantage and do as many buff camps as you can for you and your teammates. They'll love you for giving them free buffs, and you'll love the gold, xp, and nearly free stacks for your ultimate. That's not to say "hey, leave lane all the time and do buff camps" but do them as often as you can.

Summary

So that's my Bakasura guide. A super-fast Assassin capable of 100-0-ing any god in the came with proper setup. Remember to stack your passives, kids.

But for real. Lemme know how you build your Baka. Any input is appreciated.

Actually I prefer using the Deathbringer because i think you can make a lot more damage with the crits than the extra dmg that you gain with the Qin's Sais, plus with Deathbringer you get 50 physical power, that equals the 30 physical power from the Qin's Sais and the other 20 that you gain with the Warrior Tabi, the attack speed bonus from the Qin's Sais is the same that you gain with the Ninja Tabi. At least it was working good for me :)

Hey, if it works for you, I can't knock it :) this certainly isn't an end-all-be-all guide hahah

Honestly, I kinda need to rework the guide with some itemization tweaks. But as for keeping the Ninja Tabi, I don't think those boots are ever worth it. The extra 20 damage from Warrior Tabi is just too good to pass up, especially if you're playing Bakasura in the solo lane where you're always trading poke damage.

Please, any help is appreciated. I'm assuming BBCoding is the fancy things. I'm still working on formatting, so that'll help, but I wanted to get the "guide" part of the guide out there before I make it look super pretty.

Fairly decent for a first guide, and for such a difficult god to play, I have to give props to you for spending so much time on this.

What I can say :

BBCoding. The **** is hard but it's damn rewarding. I can send you a PM with some simple, but helpful, examples of BBcoding.

Now, to go over the guide itself :

Item explanation : 8/10. I got confused when I saw both Ninja and Warrior on your "To-buy" list, the main reason I checked the guide itself. Could've separated the starting builds with " Starting " for when the match starts, "Core" , "Damage", "Survivability", etc. Overall, pretty amazing.

~Opinion : Make a separate text box for your Active selection.~

Pros / Cons : 10/10. Perfect description of Bakasura. However, isn't Mercury's boxing with he's 2 better than Baka's late game ?

General Strategiess : 11/10. This is WAY more than I would expect for a first timer. AMAZING job with the General Strategies section

Overall guide note : 9.3/10. Keep doing these :3
