Hi, my name is Sevrahn. I came over to SMITE after playing a lot of MMO's. Never actually liked the MOBA concept, but the way SMITE does it just made it click with me and I loved it. One of the things I did for the MMO's I played was theorycraft and write guides on how to tank/heal/dps, and I am bringing that mindset with me to SMITE. This is my first guide and will not be my last, hopefully aspiring players find these helpful in their journey to become better.
Pros:
Great Pusher
Excellent Rotation Potential
KRAKEN!
Decent Poke that synergize with items
Cons:
Lacklust Escape Potential
Very easy to burn through your kit
Can get hung up on watching Tide level too easily
Tidal Surge:
Your primary line ability. If playing Mid or Solo you need to get this up as fast as possible to out-push your counterpart.
Trident:
Fastest way to build Tide. Excellent for clearing Jungle camps. Can allow you to out-box someone with all 3 hits if you are close enough.
Whirpool:
Your poke. Great for putting deep under their tower early game to get decent damage on them while softening up minions for Surge. Multi-hit AoE perfect for applying Gem of Isolation and stacks of Spear of the Magus.
KRAKEN!:
Ult. High single-target damage. If you are looking to one-shot people use this with Soul Reaver :) Normal Ult combo is to use KRAKEN! to knock them up and immediately use Surge so they land in it to finish them off.
KRAKEN!'s ability to disrupt team fights is a great asset to any team. Using it as an execute will also help get your team ahead in the fights. With the changes to HoG and objective Lifesteal, Whirlpool + KRAKEN! is a great way to start or end a Gold Fury or Fire Giant. Try to use your Whirlpool to help your team as the stacks from Spear will allow you to kill enemies quicker and the Slow from Gem will making it easier to secure those kills.
Poseidon's rotation potential is one of his best assets. At full Tide you have a movement speed buff, but don't forget that Trident buffs your speed as well! You can get over to a lane, drop a KRAKEN!, Whirlpool, and get back to your lane with relative ease and quickness.
Hope this helps, I am a bit crunched for time at the moment so I am unsure if there is more in-depth I should have gone.
