This is my first guide

This is my first guide and build on SMITEFire, but I'll try to make it the best I can.

Introduction

Mercury is an assassin that works well with critical power, or attack speed, but I prefer critical. The highest damage I have done was about 1800, but the enemy probably had zero protections, and was just squishy. But hey, if you can do that much on a player without protections, you'll probably do good damage on other players.

Items

So in my build, you get the Warrior Tabi for mobility and power, but if you want more attack speed go with ninja tabi.

Next, is the Hydra's Lament. This is for total power so that you can do damage all the way up to end game, and it just makes it a LOT better. However, this only takes effect when you do an ability first, so either hit them with Made You Look, or Special Delivery first.

Then, I have Rage. Rage semi-early game can be good because you can get those criticals in. Rage is only good for a certain amount of time though before it starts to lose it affect, so later, you should switch it out with a different crit item.

After that, is Bloodforge. With almost any assassin, you should get some kind of life steal, and with this you will get power too, so you can just keep adding those layers of juicy power.

Then the last two, Malice and Deathbringer are the conclusion to my build because with these two, your critical hits will skyrocket up.

These items will get you to very high power stats, when you crit, however some of the items are pretty pricey, so make sure you get enough kills to get the gold.

Pros / Cons

Pros
fast
high damage
great boxer (1v1)

cons
kinda squish
vulnerable to stuns

Hey Mr. Porkchop,

Just going to provide my feedback, though it's just based on what I think is general knowledge of Merc and building.

Firstly, not sure if Hydra's Lament is a good item or not on him. It's usually more ability-based, but the additional damage procs on basic attacks following, so...I see where it can be handy, but if the rest of your build is centered around crit damage (and he's definitely not an ability-based god), just not sold on this item.

An early Rage is the best choice of all crit items for a single crit item DPS boost, but when you go triple-crit, it's really not the best for DPS. Either you should probably get Rage early and replace late, or not get it at all. If you do plan to go 3x crit, a better combo would be the other two you choose + Wind Demon.

Also probably wouldn't recommend Bloodforge 4th. 6th is better if you need the lifesteal and choose this item, but it's just a bit expensive as a 4th item. Combined with Malice and Deathbringer, your build is quite costly.

Just my own opinion, take it or leave it.

Oh and I have been wanting to put those little images and links for items in my guide but could not find out how. Can you tell me how, since you know how to do it?

Regarding images and whatnot, it's just putting a double bracket around the name. It has to be spelled exactly for it to work. Example:
Code:
[[Deathbringer]] [[Hydra's Lament]]
This works for abilities, items, god names, etc.

Yes I know my build is pretty pricey, but if you can get a lot of kills, it should be not much of a problem. Also, thanks for the feedback on the Rage ordeal, I will definitely put that into consideration. And finally, yes I know Mercury is not really an ability god, but normally I will use Special Delivery to dash and throw them against the wall and start hitting them, so it is put into effect. However I did not include this in my guide, so I will edit that, but this information was so helpful, thank you so much.

Remember, you don't have to listen to me and my opinion...if you find it works best with how you play, more power to you. Just suggestions in case you want to try different things, and maybe you'll find it works better...maybe not!

I do see the function of Hydra in that situation, and that was exactly the situation I was expecting when I saw it. That said, in a 1v1 fight, you might find some other item to help your DPS overall...something that more drastically increases your DPS, or gives you some better utility, or, I dunno...something.

But in any case, remember, this is your build, and if you find it to be absolutely worthwhile and effective for you, stick with it.

It seems you only put 4 levels into your ulti and 6 into Maximum Velocity. If you want to level your ulti every time you can, the levels are 5, 9, 13, 17, and 20 for reference.

Yeah, I thought something looked a little off, thanks for telling me Zilby.
