Introduction

Hello and welcome to my Odin guide, for the new remodel of Odin after the 'Winds of Change' update. This is my first guide (possibly last) so there will be plenty of flaws to it, but that is what the comment section is for. After playing this build several times I have managed to get high K/Ds every time when I have played with a decent team. But the most important thing for me is that I am having fun with the build whether I am winning or not and so far this simple factor has been successful for me.

I have built this guide for specifically joust, but it works in siege, assault and conquest solo lane. I may look into a second guide on arena, jungle or support Odin in the future.

So without further ado have fun playing this easy/medium difficulty build that should be reasonable to beginners and wreck some All Farther havoc to enemy gods with experienced players. The main thing is, with the update people will hopefully start playing Odin again after realising his new found potential. So read ahead and enjoy!

Pro's and Con's

Pros:

+Good Early Game
+Strong Mid Game
+Both tanky and high burst damage
+Strong in 1v1s
+Good Crowd control
Cons:

-Tails of Late Game
-Trapped in Ring if not careful
-Week to strong Tanks Early Game
-Can tail of if team isn't supporting
-High mana cost

Ability Guide

Lunge
Odin leaps into the air and slams down onto enemy gods doing a substantial amount of damage. This is you're initiator as well as your exit route. One nifty trick you may not notice straight away is that when you land you're Raven Shout will detonate, so don't worry about timing the landing with you're shield explosion. Use this if possible to jump over you're ring or over a wall in times of danger.

Raven Shout
Odin summons a explosive shield of Ravens. That detonates after a 4 seconds. This will do more damage with the less damage it takes. This ability is great for minion clear and with addition to Lunge will do massive burst damage to enemy gods. It an also be used to soak some damage when running out of a team fight to heal up.

Gungnir's Might
Odin sweeps his spear around doing small damage to surrounding enemies and also putting a slow on them. The damage from this attack is not that great so I use it more to slow enemies and stop them from running away. Also in the ring of spear when I am waiting for the cool down of my initiating moves.

Ring of Spears
Odin Summons a ring of spears that trap Odin and enemy gods within. Here he enables an attack speed reduction and prevents healing of enemy gods. Whenever an enemy god dies in the ring from you or a team mate you will get a permanent damage buff from your passive. Best to stop escaping enemies or slap down before a kill to get the stack.

Game Play

Early Game Odin becomes in sense a suicide bomber. The idea is you activate Raven's Shout use Lunge to jump on your enemies and then run out. This should take non-tanky gods down half health. In assault time this well as your teammates won't be happy to jump into 5 enemy gods to see you killed.

Mid Game you want to try and kill as many of the enemies in your ring as possible. The build is set up to low them down as much as possible. First jump in with the technique used early game but instead of running throw down your Ring of Spears and let rampage. With the ring slow, Gungnir's Might and Frostbound Hammer the enemy won't be going too far. With Odysseus bow and Asi you will be hitting them constantly to get the slow on frostbound as well as damage. The chain lightning from Odysseus is mainly just an added bonus for me!

Late game just hit and kill. Play Similar to the Mid Game stage. I find he tends to tail of near end game, but still plays strongly.

Primary Item's

Death's Toll

For survivability Early game. Adds that nice bit of life steal when grinding down enemy minions. Sell mid game to be able to afford a new item or upgrade an item.

Warrior Tabi

Keep your feat comfortable, no just kidding. I always buy a pair of boots for all characters. If you want to keep up with the enemy it is an absolute must!

Jotunn's Wrath

Cool down reduction and power. More Ring of Spears mid-game as well as suicide bombing early-game. Late game you got the +40 physical power and the penetration.

Frostbound Hammer

Odin wants to stick like glue to his enemy especially in the ring. The slow on this ability will enable no escaping from Odin. Bash him to pieces as he tries to run from your mighty spear.

Odysseus' Bow

This brand new item means Odin can hit at incredible speeds. Once you have Frostbound Hammer You will be hitting more slows than the traffic police. And also that lovely little bonus of becoming Zeus - his lighting is yours too now!

Asi

Together with Odysseus' Bowyou will be hitting as fast as light. Even Kali will have trouble keepin' up... not really no one is faster hitting than the Queen of Speed. Also the lifesteal will help replace Death's Toll which should be defiantly gone now.

Shifter's Shield

Damage and Protections. It's a bargain that any warrior couldn't miss out on. This will save Odin when he is in danger from his squishiness, and also enable him to do more D's to enemies throughout the Initial attack.

Other Items

Stone of Gaia - is in case you are against magical enemies.

Midas Boots - is in case you are dropping low in gold early game. Later game replace with Warrior Tabi

Sovereignty - Replacement of mystical mail. I prefer the passive for Mystic as it works well if you want to be near to gods.

Greater Purification - for crowd control effects such as Ares' and Hades' Alts.

Aegis Pendant - for situations such as a thanatos ult, Kukulkan's alt, Nu Wa's Ult or when you are low on health and being chased.

Combat Blink - Even though I usually pick greater blink, combat is needed in case a hasty retreat out of the boxing ring is needed, especially if you used up your Lunge!

Salvation - AN ABSOLUTE MUST IN ASSAULT, tell all your friends as it wins games in Assault.

Potions - just make sure you keep topped up on your mana/health

Wards - keep getting ganked by a snowballing loki. Stop his fun by popping a couple of wards down

After Note

This is my first guide, so any help is appreciated!

I tend not to use smite-fire too much when playing smite as I find it fun mixing and trying new items out when playing. So if you have any complaints/improvements/compliments with my guide then try to message me with the first three weeks of the publishing of this guide.

This was originally posted on the update release of the KuKulKan god release or (the winds of change) update.

Have fun playing Odin as this latest update is one of my favorites and enables Odin to be a viable god possibly as strong a warrior as Chaac or Hercules.

Thanks for the comment Grover. I also have begun using shifters shield as well. I changed the build to shifters now.

As for the other items I could see why you have chosen them, and what makes them good items. However I think when I was designing this build I wasn't looking for the 'perfect' Odin build, just something fun to play with.

For example (Odysseus bow) was new and I wanted to somehow incorporate it into my build. It isn't the most effective item in the game for Odin and I am not sure who will benefit from Odysseus yet.

But don't get me wrong I still believe this build is viable and can be deadly if played well.

Mystical Mail's effectiveness drops off like a Nerf gun as the game progresses. It should never be bought last, especially when sovereignity provides vastly more health and protections and shifter's shield can be bought.

Seriously, Shifter's Shield gives you so much damage when you need it, and is excellent as it boosts your nukes when you initiate and your defence when you're in dire straights.

I'd also consider Hydra's Lament/Ancile over Odyseuss' Bow. Hydras gives you more overall damage (on your nuke as well as AAs) and lets your first hit upon popping a leap or ring deal a lot of damage, instead of having more inconsistent damage that only applies to targets you can keep.

I find Auto-attacks to be a little unreliable with Odin. with no more movement speed buff from the ult, I feel it's better to max his CDR and go for high-power ability damage, with a small amount of melee. He's just too slow on his AAs to make it effective, and with a lot of power his nuke can nearly 100-0 a squishy, and hunters and a number of assassins are hard countered by the ring.

Protections can be valuable too. I usually go for pen boots, Jotunn's Wrath and Hydra's Tier 2, followed by Hide of the Urchin to give some sustainability. Add two situationals to counter anyone necessary and finally max Shifters to give you a hefty amount of protections, but also give you enough damage to seriously injure one or more people while the team cleans up for you on a regular basis.

Also forgot to mention: Blink + Beads are the ideal things to grab provided nothing is needed to counter the opponent. In a good situation, you can blink in, pop the ring, shield up and nuke someone in the ring, pop beads when they try to land a CC, giving you a short cooldown on your nuke again and finishing them with it once again. Same applies when blink is off and you leap in. Pop the beads upon success and then fire the nuke again at the people trapped for the kill(s) or securing the team can finish them.

Good Guide, I would use the mystical mark earlier in game for the squishiness of Odin now. But overall guide was helpful

I don't feel like reviewing but some small notes.

Gem of Gaia doesn't exist anymore (it's Stone of Gaia.

you need more information on existing tabs. also on how to use his skills and why to pick all items you choose not only situationals. you also miss some more tabs like teamwork and pro & cons.

the bbcoding isn't even basic use double [ and icons to let people view what the item did again (because some tend to forget etc).

further wait till SF updates the database this normally takes 1-2 days after the patch.

hope this helped a bit

Thanks Devampi, I changed the stone of Gaia now. I might give it in essence "a paint job" later today/tomorrow aswell as add a couple more sections. I didn't go into to detail about what Odin's moves are as I intended it to be for people who new his moves. I understand new players may want to try him out so I might add skill descriptions in.
