Introduction

Hello, folks! This is my first guide at SmiteFire! English is NOT my native language but I will try my best.
Now here it is: the guide for my favorite god: Odin

Special Thanks to Aj17 for his great help to develop my build.
you should also check out his build in the comments.

How you should play him?

You can play Odin in every Situation! He is a great Sololaner and I mostly use him on Sololane. You can also jungle with him. The buffs are awesome and his Ultimate can be fight-winning.
I am trying some supporter-builds but I haven't found a favorite yet.

Skills

Now I will give you an explanation about Odin's skills and how I am using them.

1. Lunge
Some people may ask why I completed the skill after Odin's Shout.
The answer: I normally use Lunge for changeing my position instead of dealing damage.

2. Odin's Shout
This spell is usefull for you, your teammates and your minions. you and everyone in the radius gain attackspeed wich can change a fight. You also gain physical power.
You should use this ability as often as you can.
It is also great for pushing structures with minions or mates.

3. Gungnir's Might
This third spell is your core ability. You passivly gain physical protection wich is useful (especially in early game). It deals great damage against all enemies nearby and slows them, wich can save a life of your mates if you slow the hunter.
In the early games it is your only effective spell against minions.

4. Ring of Spears
The ultimate spell of Odin is one of the most team-orientated in SMITE. You should combine them with spells of your team mates for example ultimate-spells of Zeus, Poseidon, Cupid, Ymir etc. (almost every AOE-attack)

In my opinion it is the best counter against some of the most annoying ultimate-spells
some examples:
-prevent allies from being taken by Fenrir's ult into a tower (or somewhere else)
-You hate the pig of Artemis? -> Odin is immune to crowd control
-prevent allies from being captured in Ares chains

Use this spell if you do not want enemies to escape but you should be sure that the time is enough to strike them down.

(5) Birds of Wisdom
This passive ability is not the best but it gives you a bit of safety because you are able to see enemies in a higher vision radius on the minimap.

Order of using the skills in combat

You have to communicate with your team! Wait until the best spells of your allies are ready and let the massacre start.

1.jump ( Lunge) towards your enemies or blink next to them
2.use Ring of Spears and trap as many enemys as you can
- your allies will spam their damage abilities onto them
3.use Odin's Shout for attackspeed and power and focus the enemies' dagmage-dealer
- (he/she should die quickly)
4.after the spears have disappeared - use Gungnir's Might and prevent enemies from running away

5.use sprint, Combat Blink or Lunge to save your life
- I prefer Heavenly Agility because it can also help your allies (remember you are nothing without them)

Pros / Cons

Pros:
+Great on Sololane and Jungle and as Support
+Hard to strike down in combat (lategame)
+Wins 1v1 against a tanky Odin ;)
+High sustain

Cons:
-weak in early game
-high mana consumption

Summary

I think know you should be able understand why I love Odin. I hope I could help you and would like you to rate and comment on this guide.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Oh I see... xD
This is my Solobuild! I have to change the Guide completely - It has been a while since I checked what I wrote - I've just changed the buildorder - Of course he is great on Sololane!
I will test your support BO!
You are right - my build is pretty bad for a supporter^^

First off I'd like to state that I mean no offense and am writinh this comment for the sole purpose of helping you. That being said, this guide is pretty bad. Well, to start there is no aesthetic appeal and not near enough information. But my biggest problem here is that it seems to me that you arent too familiar with Odin's place in the meta. First off HOW IS ODIN NOT A GOOD SOLO LANER? He is utterly fantastic at solo. Thats not to say he isn't great in a duo support role but definatly not with your build. These are the builds that are good for odin ;

For Solo Odin;

Alternetivly for Support Odin;

Dude thanks a lot to you, Aj17.
Your tipps were pretty good! I have tested your advises and I'm the same opinion as you.
These Crits for extra damage seem to work more effectively than the extra lifesteal, so I changed "my"/our ^^ build.
I hadn't enough time testing your personal build yet but I will in the future and
I will mention your help in the guide!

Keep Owning bro :D

Hey man, I've been using ur odin build a lot lately, and here is my second opinion.

It's a pretty effective build, the attack speed is what it needs to be, and depending on how u play the health is just enough to get you through an encounter and score a kill, however I stand by my opinion that you are overdosing on lifesteal here; I say this because literally after Jotunn's wrath I put in Malice instead of bloodforge and I lifetealed more health than if I had been playing strictly with your build (excluding fully built eye of retaliation, because hot damn is it strong and give nice lifesteal).

This is exactly my point, if u can get the same amount of lifesteal with less items than that why not? Granted the one thing that made sense about your build is that your lifesteal returns well on all your hits, crit or non crit, but those items only come in at end game, lowering the effectiveness of this lifesteal due to true damage dealers naturally hitting harder. Usually a warrior's answer to this is protections with damage to lower the enemies damage, but your odin is not traditional, your odin is more like a beefy assassin (which I like about odin) so all in all take ur end game life steal items out and replace with ->Rage/Malice(depending on how important additional attack speed is to you) -> DeathBringer you will hit like ****ing Iron Mike Tyson-up-in-a-***** lol and the neat thing about odin is, prior to deathbringer, your ult acts as a deathbringer due to the insane damage contribution (118 and end game i think) sooooooooooo odin pretty much gets Deathbringer when he ults for free! (I have crit for around 1000 with odin at end game due to having deathbringer on top of that) so all in all, not to mention you will life steal just as well if not better with this adaptation.

~Overview:

"CRINGE WORTHY BB CODING COME RIGHT AT YA!"(sry if i completely **** it up....)

Your build vs my build
Yours:
Warrior Tabi -> Frostbound Hammer -> Soul Eater -> Jotunn's Wrath -> Bloodforge -> Eye of Retaliation

~pros:
+nice health early on with odin's 3 enables you to be warrior through early to mid game.
+ slow and added attack speed is just the ticket to confirm kills in your ult(nice job on that!)
+ Jotunn's Wrath is very impactful on this build coupled with Warrior Tabi nice Pen!
+overall DPS is nice
+Damage is pretty sweet.
+1v1 works out well on this build!
+consistent income of lifesteal on basic attacks that don't crit.

~cons:
-can be outdamaged early on, your ult and attack speed buff is key for winning encounters
-not a whole lotta protections to throw around, your a tanky assasin at best with (kinda like thor but with less escape)
-can be easily focused.
-without ult, end game can hurt so long as the enemy has SOME flat penetration.
-most of the lifesteal comes in at endgame, possibly too late to pay off.

Mine:

Warrior Tabi -> Frostbound Hammer -> Soul Eater -> Jotunn's Wrath ->
Malice -> Deathbringer

~Pros
+ pretty much everything about your build only a slightly faster attack rate/DPS
+ Monster Crits that send mercuries running.....away
+ Assasins might as well not look at you.
+ So long as Malice is fully built your ult is pretty much a Death sentence and a free Deathbringer!
+ Last two "cons" on your build do not exist on this build. Your early game is sufficient, and your end game is terrifying!

~cons:
- most of the cons of your build due to my changes being at the back end of your build and not the 4 core items at the front end of it.

~Summary:

My adaptation is just for the sake of helping you better your build, I in no way play odin like you do in the slightest and I myself get very good results.
I feel if you take all this advice and decide to revamp your odin again or hit the lab with him, contemplate some protections and penetration, you would be amazed how items like Executioner and Titan's Bane Play out on odin (flat pen is also VERY important on odin, Im sure you know this due to your build's penetration but consider void blade)

I like your builds order of purchase, seems perfect. If your going to ad anything to your guide please add situational Items, your build is very.....rigid? not alotta room for counter building, which a player like myself LIVES off of.

.......at this point im just *****ing.

Here's my actual build:

Ninja Tabi -> Hide of the Urchin -> Malice -> Magi's Blessing/Magi's Cowl -> Sovereignty or Deathbringer or Executioner or "Situational Item" -> "Situational Item"

It has served me well but I play Tankier, and ib4 "No pen bro?" I'm not worried about pen cause im focused on tanking and doing "enough Damage", I'm a Tank who kills squishes if I need too.

Maybe try it, maybe not, but get back to me if you can with the suggestions I made before first and tell me what you think.

P.S. Sry for the mini-guide on your guide (yo dawg) Just trying to look out for all my Bro tier Odins out there.

P.S.S - I learned alot from your build =)

Stay Strong fellow all father and keep it Metal! peace!

Hey quick question, been testing ur build in arena, but wanna know what role this odin is in conquest?

He can't be solo lane against any ranged gods except for defense ( a short time ).
I mostly played with freya but he defnitly should be played in a duo. Otherwise it would be senseless.
I would say he should play with a damage dealer or any gods where ults are great together.

Hi Freako
thank you for the guide. Im new to smite and i like that frozen hammer to start with, it really cripples the enemy ms, since odin has no real cc, this is a musthave i think.
But the rest of the build...where are your protections? xD
Ill play some more odin and come back to you.

grtz

your reasons are understandable and thanks for the tips!
I will try out something you have said - If it works better then I will change the BO.
Maybe you could say what exactly you would change after you've tried it out! :)

Most definitely man =)

I'm in agreement with Setolino on this one, (i just might have a better reason)

So please take this advice from ANOTHER Rank X Odin here (me),

lifesteal without crits isn't super great, this is a no brainer, a fully built merc against a fully built odin with this build will crush odin, you will lifesteal for 100 if ur lucky while he will do it for double that (just an example, actual number will of course be different, but the difference between crits and no crits is that big on life steal)

The back end of your build is really only there for power it seems, so why not grab titans bane over one of those items? or even executioner to help with your DPS? (because outside of ur 3 and sometimes ur 1 odin is really only basic attacks, its important to make them as strong as possible)

Also if this is a support warrior build, "Odin is a supporter! He works great in a team and can possibly be the most important factor in winning a game." ~ you--- So while I get support can meen: Play for your team, ult for ur team, deliver speed buff for ur team, wouldn't a better support warrior build look more like -> voidblade for ur team and give u some great stats -> Max CDR for more buffs and ults -> Whichstone for an edge in 1v1 encounters AND weakining the enemy teams in a teamfight?

All in all ur build just looks......Messy, un-focused, and perhaps as crude as it is....stupid?

I play Odin alot obviously, and where as I am sure you have tried alot, I invite you to try out a max CDR build with Titans Bane, or throwing Malice into any build u like and seeing the results (maximum squishy killer, its sooo ****ing cash)

But to be fair there are some merits to your build, so out of fareness, I will try some matches with it and get back to you, maybe I am, dare I say, ignorant? lol I wanna help you fellow Odin player =)

Ofc it work against bad players that gonna buy for example meditation, that you are Mastery X just is another example that this dont make any difference. Iam judging your guide, yes, cause it is ********. No front against you as a person or your playstyle, you can play him like this if you want but my opinion is that this is a stupid build.

Hit maybe the level 30 mark, go in a ranked with that build and tell me what your teammates say about it ok ?
