Introduction

Me
Hi there! I'm Pentargonite! I wouldn't say I've been playing Smite for a long time, only since the beginning of 2014. I have had a lot of mains, but managed to stick with Bastet.

Bastet
Bastet is a physical assassin. She has great mobility with Pounce, a nice slow with Declaw, good damage with Razor Whip and an extremely annoying ultimate She's very underrated, but I hope to show you differently in this guide.

Pros and Cons

Pros
Great ultimate when used correctly
A lot of slows
Good mobility
Great poke
Good passive when used correctly
Can tower dive relatively safely
Cons
Pretty mana hungry early game
Can't do much without abilities
Punishable poke
Hard for new players
Ultimate could be countered with sprint

Items

Early Game

This is a must for every jungler. It gives you much better clear speed and it gives you a FG/GF secure or stun later on.
You need this for your mana and health sustain. This should keep your health up until your first back.
Deaths Toll vs Bumbas Mask

Early

Game

This item gives you everything you need. Power and penetration. Movement speed and attack speed are just a bonus. Not much else to say here.
This item solves your mana problems a bit, gives some more penetration and gives CDR. When you just cleared a camp, you normally need to wait 15 seconds until you can gank again. This helps with that problem.
Choose this item when you are comfortable with Bastet. It gives you a nice power boost paired with some movement speed. Replace this with Qin's Sais or Rage.

Mid Game

When the enemy team is physical heavy, get this item. It gives good protections since later in the game you'll get squishier but you still get some power while also helping your team with its passive.
I've been trying this item out a lot, and it's great. When you're above 50% health you get 60 extra physical power, which is a lot. If you're below you get +35 protections. It's the perfect 3rd item for Bastet imo.

Mid

Game

This item in general is very good. It gives you attack speed, which you could use with the passive from Bloodforge, and power. The passive is, even after the nerf, still very good.
You could use this item to utilise the passive from Deathbringer. This also gives you some attack speed, but not that much. I'd get this item when you got Devourer's Gauntlet or Soul Eater previously.
You can get this item if you don't feel like going Rage or Qin's Sais. More penetration is always great, because it means more damage. The passive and stats are pretty straightforward.

Magi's Blessing
Late Game

Magi's Blessing
At this point, your enemies must have gotten a lot stronger. This will give you some protections and CC imunity every 45 seconds. Of course if you use Pounce very well, you won't need the passive as much. You could see it as a backup.

This item is very good in general. It's very straightforward, giving you health, mana and protections. Make sure you can get enough kills and assissts to make the passive useful. Also here, you might want to get Purification Beads.

Late Game

This item is just a big powerhouse. You should get it if you got Rage previously. It gives you power, critical chance and a great passive which synergises well with Rage.
You should get this item, if you went Qin's Sais or Titan's Bane previously. 20% crit chance just isn't reliable enough. It finishes your CDR, which is nice, it also gives you a pretty big power boost. But the passive is huge. You can even more damage with the poke combo, and with the CDR you can execute it more often.

If your support doesn't get this active, or you think you could steal FG or GF, get this active.
If your support has Wrath of the Gods, and you don't need another one, this active is very good.
You don't need this item that much, because you have CC immunity when you return with Pounce and you get the passive from Magi's Blessing. But if you think you need it, buy it.
This item also affects your ultimate, so it's very good for chasing enemies who have a leap. Get this if you have a healer on your team.
The effect of this item is roughly the same as Heavenly Agility, but you should get this if the enemy has healers or a lot of AA based gods.

Skills

Open Wound

open wound
This is a very good passive which you use without thinking about it. The 15% extra damage is very good, so you always have to remember to engage with Pounce or Declaw first. That way you get 15% more damage on Razor Whip.
open wound
declaw
cat call

Pounce

open wound
declaw
cat call
This is a very nice ability. You can use it to escape, engage and chase. Always try to save this ability for chasing, only engage with it if you have to.Be careful and do not get CC'd after you jump. Since it got nerfed, don't be afraid to do you combo's, a lot of people made the nerf look way worse than it actually was.

Razor Whip

You're main damage and clear ability. Note that it hits from left to right, so you can hit a whole minion wave. A lot of people underestimate the damage this ability can do. This ability has a pretty long cooldown, standing at 15 seconds, so make sure you have it off cooldown when ganking.
open wound
declaw
cat call

Declaw

open wound
declaw
cat call
Your only CC next to your ultimate, try to use this first when engaging. Note that it hits enemies in an area, so you can use it to clear camps quicker. You could use this when retreating, but make sure the enemy isn't extremely close to you, and you have enough time to turn around.
Declaw

Cat call

Cat Call

Bastet's ultimate is one of the most annoying ultimates in the game when used correctly. A lot of people just pop the cats and hope they hit the enemy. You can let them attack people you want with Razor Whip. Heavenly Agility also affects them!

How to use it

Place the cats in front of the enemy, so that you will be able to bodyblock him. Make sure that if he has a jump, it's down! Also, make sure you used Razor Whip so the cats actually attack the enemy, and not minions.

When you bodyblock a god like Ra, he can only escape using combat blink.

So, before you use your ult, make sure the enemy has his jump on CD.

Jungling/Combo's

Start

Fire Giant side

If the solo lane is on the right, start by soloing red buff. After that, meet your solo laner at mana buff. Watch out for invades! Then, go to lane until level 3. Then take the small harpy camp. If you have enough time to get another one before going to the mid camps, get another harpy camp.

Gold Fury side

If the solo lane is on the left, start by clearing the speed and mana camp. Then go to lane (tip: try and stand in the jungle when the wave is cleared, you'll get some MP5 from Bumba's Mask) until you hit level 3. Then repeat what I said above.

Mid camps

Mid camps are very important for you and your mid laner. If you always get them, you and your mid laner will get a good lead on the enemy jungler and mid laner. Always make sure to notify your mid laner that you are going to clear mid camps and ask if he wants to help.

MID CAMPS RESPAWN EVERY 3 MINUTES

It is especially important that you get mid camps in the first 10-15 minutes, after that they aren't that important anymore.

Playstyle

Early Game

0-15 minutes
In my opinion, early game is the part where you really shine. It doesn't matter if you can at level 5 or before that. Try to get as fed as possible by ganking mid and solo lane. Try not to gank duo lane because at the start of the game, the support usually just placed his wards. Lanes that are being outpushed should always be ganked as soon as possible, it'll make the enemy solo lane a lot more careful when pushing a lane.
Declaw Cat Call

Mid Game

15-30/40 minutes
Now that most of the roles have abandoned their lanes, you aren't as strong as before (unless you're fed). Keep a keen eye on the map to spot split-pushers and gank those. Also, you could solo the Gold Fury while letting your Cat Call cats tank it. Teamfights will occur, but I will discuss that later on.
Declaw Cat Call

Late Game

30/40+ minutes
You are very squishy so far into the game. CC will kill you almost instantly, so make sure not to get caught by a tank and carry. If there are any towers up, try to split-push them with Cat Call tanking it. Be very careful not to wander off alone. Only do that when you're winning. Otherwise enemy gods will most likely be in your jungle and if they see you, you're dead (I'm talking about multiple gods here).
Declaw Cat Call

Teamfighting

You're not that strong when it comes to teamfighting. You should try and get behind the enemy (by using Pounce) and pick off a carry. If you have to trade with him, do it unless you're fed. This is very important. When the enemy is defending a phoenix, wait for someone to engage and sneakily pick off someone. While retreating, use Cat Call and Declaw to try and slow as many people as possible.
Declaw Cat Call

I don't like it, but if you're facing a team with a lot of health, it's a great item. And what Jorden said above ^

Bastet's ability damage somewhat falls off late game. Her auto attacks make up for that. Thor doesn't really build auto attack items because he brings a lot of utility and control to the fight, a opposed to Bastet which has only damage. And even so, some Thors build crit late game, and it works well.
