Intro

Hello, my name is Arvorus, and this is my first guide. Who else would fit better than my first diamond, Neith? She's a fun goddess with a versatile skill-set that allows her to be played in multiple ways.

This guide will cover Neith's skills, gameplay, and the items I use for my build. If you take the time to read this, please leave some feedback behind!

Pros / Cons

Powerful early game.
Global presence.
Strong laning.

Pros

Powerful early game: In the stage where abilities reign king, Neith's 460% scaling is a god-send.

Global presence: Neith's World Weaver gives your entire team access to a hard-hitting, unmissable, 1.5s stun.

Strong laning: Neith's extremely powerful Spirit Arrow allows for her to one-shot waves as soon as level 9!

Very predictable.
Bad late-game.
Squishy.

Cons

Very predictable: Neith is an easily readable god. Her weaves are blatantly visible, her Unravel and World Weaver are telegraphed, and her Backflip is slow to land.

Bad late-game: Neith is the lowest late-game dps hunter, due to her lack of a built-in steroid.

Squishy: Neith can't really build into defense, so she finds herself as a prime target for enemy gods.

The first thing you should level is Spirit Arrow, for its wave clear and to set up ganks.

After that, you should level up Unravel. It is your main source of healing, and is a decent poke, as well.

You should only level up Backflip on level 2 for the combo. Other than that, you should prioritize it last.

You should level World Weaver whenever you can. It's a very useful ultimate that can nab you a lot of kills.

Explanation

You can get a lot more damage out of these combos if you weave them into your basics. Do you know how there's a period after casting abilities where you can't auto-attack or use another one? Well, the same thing applies to auto-attacks, except during those, abilities are allowed. Take this, for instance:
    Spirit Arrow.
    Unravel.

Now, let's add in some animation canceling:
    Auto-attack.
    Spirit Arrow.
    Auto-attack.
    Unravel.

That may not seem like much, but a hunter basic deals a ton of damage! By doing this, you can almost more than double the damage of your combos!

Of course, there are times when you shouldn't use animation canceling. If you're not sure whether casting an ability while auto-attacking is worth it or not, look at this flowchart (credit for the image goes to Professor Proxy):

Animation Canceling Flowchart

Professor Proxy has a great article (link) about animation canceling that goes in-depth on pros and cons! Make sure to check it out!

Items

Rest in peace, Transcendence. You were awesome, but we only needed you for the mana, and now Ninja Tabi is here to give us that.

Gameplay

Laning

Get your starting items and head out to the damage buff, looking out for invaders. Defeat the camp with your support and mid, give the mid their buff, and then get the xp camp. If you want to, you can grab the back harpies before getting the buffs, but only if you can do it quickly.

---

After defeating the camps, head out onto your lane. You should be level two by now; put a point into Back Flip or Spirit Arrow, whichever one you didn't get first. You should play passively until you reach level three; you don't have that much mana to spend. If the enemy pushes their minions up to your tower (3), don't take the minions' shots; they hit hard in the early game!

---

You can start pushing the lane aggressively at level 3, since you have your Unravel to heal off any damage taken when attacking. Don't worry about using your Back Flip for your wave-clear combo if the enemy is pushing. If you're pushing, however, make sure to save it as an escape! Should you get poked down to low health, but aren't able to recall for some reason (support recalled first, minions attacking tower, etc.), use your Unravel on a weave for more effect.

---

Once (and before) you gain access to your ultimate, you should start looking around the map and at the minimap more often (5 second rule!). Is anyone overextending or is there a low-hp god? If so, notify your allies (not necessary if your team isn't needed) and prepare to ult. If successful, you should be able to help get a kill.

---

Your support will usually start roaming once you can clear a wave by yourself, or to follow the enemy support. If you want to start pushing the lane by yourself, you'll need Wards and map awareness. Remember that you have an early to mid game advantage against other hunters, so don't be afraid to get aggressive! If you find that you are being out-poked hard and need help, call for a gank.

Roaming

The roaming phase starts after a tower in your lane has been destroyed. Since it will now be too dangerous for either side to attack the other's tower, you will start roaming around the map. Your main purpose during the roaming phase is to gank other lanes and to farm stacks for your items (4) (save the jungle camps for the jungler unless they don't need them anymore). At this point, you shouldn't be using your clear combo; you do enough damage to kill minions with your Spirit Arrow. Make sure to pay attention to the minimap; the enemy could still be trying to destroy your tower! This can also be used the other way around; If you know that no one will be around to defend, you can push down their tower to even the odds/further cement your win.

---

Ganking is pretty easy with Neith. You have both your Spirit Arrow and your World Weaver. It should be easy to set up ganks with these two abilities; as always, you should approach from behind or the side. Bait out your target's escape, if they have one. As for your World Weaver, all you have to do is notify your team, and then ult (again, not necessary if the team isn't needed). Since your ultimate is global, it doesn't matter where you are when you ult (unless you decide to ult right next to an enemy or something); this is very useful if you're farming and can't get to a fight in time.

Team Fights

Team fights start occurring during the late stages of the game. At this point, you should be partnered with someone; unless you're split-pushing, don't wander around by yourself. Your role in team fights is to set up kills and to dish out single-target damage. Your main targets are the enemy hunter and mage; they are the ones dealing the most damage, and without them, their team won't be able to do much. In team fights, the enemy tanks will usually be protecting them, as they should; your own tanks should be diving in so that you and your allies can infiltrate the back.

---

Your abilities are very useful in team fights. You can set up kills with your Spirit Arrow, and if someone gets assaulted by enemies, you can use your Unravel to debuff the attackers. Your Back Flip can slow anyone who is trying to escape from your allies, and the weaves left behind by fallen enemies are very useful for mass crowd control. Your ultimate, though not as useful in team fights, can still be used to set up/secure kills. A lot of weaves become available during team fights, so use them!

---

Because of your utility in team fights, and the fact that you are the team's hunter, you will most likely be one of the main targets of assassins. Stay close to your allies and keep your Back Flip up. Be aware of your position relative to others; try to stick near and behind your team. In addition, never try to chase a low-hp enemy by yourself if your ult is down and enemies are missing on the mini-map; unless your target is carrying their team, dying for a kill usually isn't worth it!

Gold Fury/Fire Giant

The Gold Fury and Fire Giant are some of the most important objectives. Upon killing the Gold Fury, your entire team will receive 100-350 gold, and upon killing the Fire Giant, your living team members will get increased power, hp5, mp5, and a 20% damage increase against structures. These areas are contested by the enemy team; trying to kill the Gold Fury or Fire Giant while the enemy team is still up will usually result in a team fight. If you get a mid to late game deicide, unless you can take down phoenixes/win the game, going for the FG is usually your best option (the same applies to the Gold Fury during the early to mid game).

Notes

Here are the notes for those numbers in parenthesis that appear for no apparent reason.

(1) I recommend setting Back Flip on quick cast. This allows you to quickly escape from any ganks, while also allowing you to make sure that the enemy will get slowed. In fact, once you get experienced with the game, I recommend setting ALL of your abilities to quick cast. This allows for faster reaction times.

(2) This is common sense, but if there's danger nearby, don't carelessly use your Back Flip for damage.

(3) Should this happen, please note that a minion hit by a tower will offer you zero gold when killed. Because of this, it's usually better to target the archers rather than the melee minions.

(4) Both when farming and in 1v1 situations, DO NOT just hold down the fire button. You need to build stacks/get gold, and holding down the fire button will just result in minions stealing kills. In boxing situations, it will just slow you down and create a pattern for your opponent to dodge. Lead your shots!

Hey! I am using this build in a Neith tutorial video I am making. This is a great guide, and I have included links to it both in the video and the video description, as well as mentioning you by name. Thanks for the guide!

This build guide is very well thought out and detailed, however one thing I would personally add to the build itself (as a diamond neith), is jotunn's wrath over asi, and then just use ninja tabi to keep the 15% attack speed. I personally think lifesteal on Neith is unneeded because her 2 on a couple minions + a weave will instantly restore 30-40% health, and the cool down + power of jotunn's wrath along with the pen is just simply better IMO.
1
Clumsypants | August 20, 2016 11:48pm
As a diamond Neith, I can guarantee you that Asi is pretty useful, even for her. You can't always rely on your 2 since it will be on cooldown after you use it ,and you're a hunter, so use those basic attacks.

One example, I boxed 2 people (Ullr and Erlang) at 5-10% health and managed to kill one of them (Ullr).
1
Arvorus (10) | August 11, 2016 7:35pm
Jotunn's Wrath is a good item on ability-based builds, but it just doesn't fit in hunter builds. If we look at the stats, Jotunn's Wrath offers:
    +40 Physical Power
    +150 Mana
    +10 Physical Penetration
    +20% Cooldown Reduction
Asi offers:
    +15% Physical Lifesteal
    +20% Attack Speed
    +15 Physical Penetration
    +A useful comeback passive

The mana and power on Jotunn's Wrath is mostly irrelevant, due to Transcendence, and it has less penetration than Asi. The 20% CDR is nice, but as a hunter, your main source of damage is going to be from auto-attacks, and CDR doesn't help with that. Asi, on the other hand, offers attack speed (almost always good due to Qin's Sais), a strong passive, and also costs less gold. The 15% lifesteal is important, even on Neith, due to the fact that her Unravel:
    has a delay
is a bad heal in 1v1 fights
    stops you from auto-attacking
    costs mana

Great guide !

What is the difference between your build 1 and 2 ?

In your intro, you write Neith can also be played solo and mid. With the same build ?

What build would u recommend for Joust 3v3 ?
2
Arvorus (10) | June 22, 2016 12:11am
For build 2, you skip Transcendence and focus more on using Qin Sais as your main damage source (Krett's Unicorn build, basically).

Neith probably isn't that good for solo and mid anymore, but yes, you would use the same build (preferably with Transcendence).

I'd use the typical final build for Joust. You don't usually get a starter item anyways, and it's easier to focus on stacking (might be problematic if another teammate stacks, but shouldn't be too bad).

As a new player (as in started 2 days ago haha!) Iv been using neith due to ease to use while I build my understanding and roles in this game and fine her quite fun. I have read your guide from top to bottom but am having some difficulty understanding gear order. You mention quite a few pieces that are not in the final build. I understand gear will change a little based on opponents but as a good starting point what should my gear activation order be and what pieces. Thanks again.
1
Ackazazium | June 10, 2016 4:08pm
Hi! Sorry for taking so long to respond. Unfortunately I forgot my main account's password, but hopefully I'll get it back soon.

I'm gonna assume that gear means items.

First of all, you begin with one of the starts (either the normal start or the crit start).
If you went with the normal start, build Transcendence, Warrior Tabi, Asi, Ichaival, Qin's Sais, and Titan's Bane. Sell Ichaival to get:
Odysseus' Bow.
The Crusher for towers and pheonixes.
Brawler's Beat Stick for healers.

If you went with the crit start, build Warrior Tabi, Ichaival, Asi, Malice, Titan's Bane, and Deathbringer. You can (it's optional) sell Ichaival later on to get:
Wind Demon for single target damage.
Odysseus' Bow for team fights.
The Crusher for towers and pheonixes.
Brawler's Beat Stick for healers.

There's one more build that I didn't really talk about in the guide, and that's Death's Toll, Warrior Tabi, Ichaival, Asi, Qin's Sais, Titan's Bane. Sell Death's Toll and then Ichaival to get two of:
Odysseus' Bow for team fights.
The Crusher for towers and phoenixes.
Brawler's Beat Stick for healers.

While this does enhance your early game and provide a lot of penetration, it's a risky build, because you have nothing to make up for your relatively weak late game.
1
Arvorus (10) | June 10, 2016 7:14pm
Yay, I recovered my account!

To note, for the second build, you get Death's Toll as your first item, so you would build as normal, then sell Death's Toll for Deathbringer, and then, if you wanted, sell Ichaival for one of the items I listed.

Also, I forgot to mention a few items. Bloodforge is a decent last item to get for "defense" (this is for all three builds), and if you want Wind Demon's passive ALONG with the utility of one of the other three items, you can build Deathbringer in place of Malice and Wind Demon in place of where Deathbringer would have been (this is only for the crit build).

Basically, it would be Death's Toll, Warrior Tabi, Ichaival, Asi, Deathbringer, Titan's Bane, sell Death's Toll for Wind Demon, sell Ichaival for Bloodforge, Odysseus' Bow, The Crusher, or Brawler's Beat Stick.

I've found that putting golden bow on neith helps her obtain higher aoe damage. Should try a build with a rushed golden bow.
1
Arvorus (10) | May 21, 2016 4:54pm
Golden Bow seems a little redundant to me. Its main two purposes are to help with clearing, and, as you said, AoE damage. However, Neith has some of the best lane clearing in the game, and her AoE damage was never something that I found needing improvement. However, it's not something I'll mark off, and I will try it.
1
Arvorus (10) | December 16, 2015 3:20pm
Hrm, that's true. I had mostly looked at Neith's auto-attack damage and didn't think about anything else, lol. My bad.

But yeah, Titan's Bane would probably be very good on Neith. I hadn't considered it with her ult and against objectives. I'll definitely add it, and the note on triple crit and Ninja Tabi.
1
Zilby (132) | December 16, 2015 8:57am
Triple crit is viable depending on the hunter. I would agree with FBX for Neith though admittedly, since she lacks an attack speed steroid and is highly ability based, triple crit may not be the best path. I like your other 6th item choices a lot Arvorus, particularly Brawler's Beat Stick since it helps you duel other hunters so much late game since Neith often struggles with this (also that extra power and penetration just works so well with your abilities). I wouldn't completely discount Titan's Bane since it does make your abilities do more damage, but I would definitely prefer brawlers most of the time.

Final note: if you do still want to do triple crit, you probably want Ninja Tabi rather than Warrior Tabi. It hurts your early game a bit, but its dps is better with triple crit.
1
FxkBoiiXpress | December 16, 2015 7:41am
Also i looked at your stats and matches, you had a your stats with neith in kda ratio is better when you use 2 crits instead of 3.
1
FxkBoiiXpress | December 16, 2015 7:36am
Triple crit is almost never viable. Id never recommend Malice on any build when there is already rage and death bringer. yeah your single target damage is insane but team fights your just gonna screw up. You cant say that titans bane isnt viable b/c any pro would pick titans over triple crit on a hunter.

Arvorus (10) | December 8, 2015 7:15pm

Is it ok if i edit your set-up and repost??

Far too late for this, but if you ever come back, sure, why not? :)
