Introduction

Hellow guys, my name is Dails and this is my first guide, I decided to do this guide because I love Loki, and I want you to know how I play with this god and teach you some tricks, also, of course you can help me a lot, commenting this guide and helping to edit this guide.

Loki is a physical assassin, the basic thing you need to know about him, he has for me, one of the best burst damage in the game, thing that can help you to kill squishy mages with just 3 hits, or even less. He is good early game, and late game, in my opinion, he is one of the best assassins.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Good late game
High burst damage
High damage
Teleport
Invisibility
Decoy (it has a lot of uses)

Cons

Squishy
Focus can be terrible
CC results in dead often

Items

Item explanation

Starting items

Bumba's Mask Gives HP, recover your HP when you kill jungle camps, and full gold bonus even with allies near, the best item for jungle for gods like Loki

Hand of the Gods Give you speed for kill camps early game with the solo laner and later, helps you to kill camps with buffs faster, also, Fist of the Gods, the last item on the Hand of the Gods tree, stun enemies, or Wrath of the Gods kill automatically Fire Giant or the Gold Fury. Get level 2 at the start of the game if you do not want to buy boots.

Potion of physical might More damage, very usefull when you just started jungling, do not buy another one until you have all your items and actives done. You can not buy this item, the price now is for 450.

Mana Potion You can not buy anymore the physical damage potion, so, you need to change your starting build. Get as always Bumba's Mask, Hand of the Gods until level 2 (or level and boots level 1) and one Mana Potion and one Ward, why mana and not Health Potion? Because Bumba's Mask already heals you, and you will need mana more than HP.

Ward Get this one to prevent Early ganks to mid lane and solo lane, you should not put this Ward on the jungle side of Mid Lane - Duo Lane, because Duo Lane should have already Wards, though, usually Mid and Solo lane does not.
Starting items, conquest solo/mid and Joust

Morningstar You want buy your Heartseeker faster as possible, then, you should buy this item first.

Hand of the Gods I play this active while in mid lane also because I like to steal the enemy mid camp at the begining of the game, giving you half of Level 1, and, the enemy, 0.

Early game items

Heartseeker, you must buy this item fist if you are going to use it, the faster you get your 50 stacks, faster you will kill. This item gives physical power, a lot of it, 25 at max rank, plus 1 for stacks(max 50), that makes a total of 25 + 50 = 75 physical power, and, movement speed, thing that help you to survive without the boots at the begining. If you do not like HS (because it is too dangerous, when I fight against gods that can give me problems, I change it) and want put another item, you should put Hydra's Lament, as the 3 item after Jotunn's Wrath (Tabi > Jotunn > Hydra)

Warrior Tabi, before all, sometimes I see some Loki players using Ninja Tabi, for me, that item for Loki is not good, if you want CDR, just buy Jotunn's Wrath or Hydra's Lament. Warrior Tabi Gives you attack speed, movement speed and penetration, is a very good item, must buy this one.

Mid game items

Jotunn's Wrath This is a core item for Loki, it gives CDR, something that goes very good on Loki, after all, you need Vanish for engage, and also for run away, some CDR is great for this skill. Mana, you need this for do not run out of mana easily with Loki and penetration, having penetration mid game is a nice advantage, and more with a burst god like Loki. You must have this item on your build.

Deathbringer Must item for Loki, some people buy first Malice, but I like buy Deathbringer first, becaue it gives you 50% strike damage when you hit a critical, this meeans, that your critical hits will hit the double, also, the 50 physical power and 20% critical strike chance, makes this item awesome, you must buy this.

Late game items

Malice Give you 50 physical power and 20% critical chance, also, the passive, when you hit a critical strike, the 75% of your physical power is inflicted, over the next 3 seconds... awesome. I like this item a lot, after all, critical chance and damage is always welcome, but if you do not feel good with it, maybe you want to change it and put Hydra's Lament, giving you even more burst damage, CDR and nice physical power.

Titan's Bane Not a lot to talk about this item... lot of penetration, why you want more?

Situational items

When I want to replace some item, I usually replace the Heartseeker when I can not build the stacks, and put Hydra's Lament, the another ones are more in specific games, explained with the item right down.

Brawler's Beat Stick You should buy this item when you have an enemy healer like Hel, the heals from her are just awesome, you can have a lot of problems with her, and more, if you are solo with her.

Hydra's Lament 50 physical power and 15% CDR, awesome physical bonus and the CDR is not bad, also, what makes this item very good with Loki, is the active, giving you 175% more of your physical power in the next hit after you use an ability.

Hastened Fatalis The attack speed this item gives (30%) is just awesome, also the passive, is one of the best for me, slow the enemy you are hitting and increases your movement speed, good item when your slow with Aimed Strike is not enough.

Magi's Blessing on Arena when you need some help with the CC is pretty good, specially against Ymir, good stats and passive. On Joust 1v1, sometimes you find a lot of CC, then, it is time for Magi's Blessing, counter it and kill them.

Void Shield This item works very good against Warriors, giving you physical power, protection and reducing their protection by 15.

Runic Shield This item is good when your enemie team has a lot of magical gods, take this for additional magical protection, but, you do not lose physical power, something that is pretty good for Loki

Bloodforge Well, lifesteal on Loki is not very recommended, but you can still use it if you need it, the lifesteal that Bloodforge gives is a lot, and just with 2 or 3 hits, something very good on Loki, after all, you just need around 4 hits to take down a god, or 2 when the god is squishy.

Shifter's Shield Item that gives general protection and 40 physical power is very very good, but the most interesting thing is the passive it gives, when you do not need the protection, gives an additional physical power of 20 (giving you 60 physical power) but when your HP is below the 50%, you gain 20 protection, magical and physical.

Actives

Greater Aegis Gives you CC immune, and prevent incoming damage for 2 seconds, very good active against: Poseidon Ares Ymir, and sometimes, if you use it correctly, Fenrir, this active has a lot of uses, thanks to the damage and CC immune.

Combat Blink Another Loki ultimate with 180 seconds CD, sweet.

Fist of the Gods I usually get this one against gods like Kali, when she uses his ultimate, stuns are a nice defense, if not, Wrath of the Gods, Vanish, sneak into the Fire Giant and steal it.

Greater Purification CC immune for 3 seconds and reduces all CD with 5 seconds, very good active agains Ares, but REMEMBER THIS: YOU STILL HAVE INCOMING DAMAGE.

Sprint Your slow immune with Vanish is not enough? buy this active, it helps you a lot against gods like Bakasura with Fatalis and his ultimate, and more slow abilities that you can not counter with Vanish

Skills

Behind you!

This is the passive... amazing, gives you 20% bonus damage when you hit enemies from behind, this passive is easy to do, with ur Vanish, positioning behind your enemies, will hurt a lot more than normal frontal hits, but, this does not means that you must hit always from behind, you can hit Vanish and hit them, will do they go back, after all, you are Loki, with few hits you can inflict 50% HP, you need to do this if you are playing on solo lane or mid lane, if you are not aggressive with Loki, you can not play those lanes.

Vanish

This skill makes you invisible (OH YEAH!), also, makes you immune to slows, apply bleed, reduces incoming damage, and give movement speed, very awesome skill, all this gives you a lot of tricks to do with Loki. Things that you need to know about this skill: when you become invisible, they can hear you (not so much like Aimed Strike), if you are invisible and you use any Blink, you will keep invisible, if minions, jungle monsters, are chasing you, you can use this skill and they will not chase you more, good against gods like Ymir with his 2 ability (slows you a lot with Glacial Strike )

Decoy

This is the clean skil for Loki, but it has a lot of uses more than kill minions. You want dive, but there is no tank near to do it for you, put Decoy inside the tower range and go, the Decoy will get the aggro from the tower, allowing you to kill someone with low HP or the tower, also, if you are good using this skill, you can even block enemies while walking with Decoy

Aimed Strike

Burst skill, gives you bonus damage and slow for 3 seconds, typical mistake with Loki, you are going to kill someone, use Vanish far from the objective (not a lot) and he will not hear your skill, and then, at the same time, use Aimed Strike, NO, the sound produced when you hit this skill is very awesome, when someone hear that, they will run like chickens, they know you are there, what you need to do is hit Aimed Strike already when you are good positioned, behind your enemy and close.

Assassinate

This is the Loki ultimate, it teleports you behind your enemie and stun him for 1 second, if you are almost dead, and you have this skill, use it, give one kill to your enemy is the worst thing you can do, just for do not use your ultimate for escape. You can use Vanish, Aimed Strike and then Assassinate and the buffs will still exist, making your hit after your ultimate a lot faster. You can also use this for stun the enemy god with Wrath of the Gods for prevent them to take it, and then, use your Wrath of the Gods

Playing on...

Loki Jungling

In this map, you can see the different ways to gank the lanes, always, from behind.

In the jungle, there are 6 different camps on the map:

1, Mana: Mage take this buff usually, but in Conquest, who takes them are: Solo Laner and Duo Laner (adc), being the jungler god, you should help the solo laner take his mana buff, if you are the mid laner, you will help with Mid Harpy, though, I steal the enemy Mid Harpy camp. This buff increases your mana recovery and CDR.

2, Damage: The jungler takes this one, if not, sometimes the Mid Laner does, just, if the Jungler let him, after all, almost all the camps are required for the jungler, this buff gives 20% more physical and magical power. As Loki you should take this buff always.

3, Speed: Same, jungler take this one, as Loki, you do not need this one, you will get almost always the damage buff, speed buff gives 20% movement speed and attack speed.

4, Normal Harpy: 1 Big Harpy and 2 Small ones, is the easiest camp on the map, the jungler takes this one until late game, support usually take them for farm faster, after all, they will be the lower god on the game, this camp gives XP and Gold.

5, Mid Harpy: 2 Big Harpyes, you MUST take 1 of the 2 camps, if it is possible, take both, but you must take one, if you are not able to do it, your mid laner should do it, with or without you, they give XP and Gold (more than any camp)

6, Fire Giant: The hardest, and the best buff on the map, Fire Giant buff must be done when your enemy team is dead, or atleast, 4 of them, that way, they will not able to steal it. For this buff, you need all your team, and usually, when you take it, you will win the game, this buff gives 30mp5 and 30hp5, 100 magical power and 70 physical power. All the team get it, unless you are dead.

7, Gold Fury: This is a buff, the difficulty is medium, the jungler or adc can solo it perfectly mid game, this gives a buff that gives your team 300g for each ally in the Gold Fury side.

Loki as Mid laner and Solo Laner

Playing Loki as Mid and Solo Laner can be very hard at the beguining, but if you keep annoying your enemy, you can own him easily, each time a wave comes, put the Decoy near the archers, then go near and use Vanish to hit 1 time, try to do this all the time, this will cause your enemy HP go down all the time, also, taking the Mid Camps and Mana Buff Camp, will help you a lot. With Heartseeker as first item on a lane, will help you to get the 50 stacks very quickly. Sometims you can have problems with gods like Hel, then, you need to get items that can counter their skills, in this case, Brawler's Beat Stick. Sometimes, if I play against Poseidon or Ao Kuang I buy Hastened Fatalis, that way, their movement speed with the 2 skill will be worst.

Loki Arena

In this game mode, you should not buy stack items, after all, you will have atleast 1 mage that can easily clean the waves, and leaving 0 minions to you for build the stacks. On arena, you should go for the highest burst damage possible and focus on the enemy with priority all the time like the healers, also, go for CDR, you can use Jotunn's Wrath and Hydra's Lament for that, after all, they both gives CDR and Hydra's Lament passive is amazing. If you have problems here with the CC you probably should get Magi's Blessing has a nice passive that counters the CC, making you immune, also, allowing you to save Aegis or Beads for gods ultimates like Ares or Fenrir.

Loki combo's and tips

Combo's

Standard Combo

When you use your Vanish go fast behind your enemy, then hit Aimed Strike and hit him all the times you can, remember that your Vanish has bleed, and sometimes you can kill someone with 1 hit and the bleed, this is usefull when you are tower diving.

Ultimate Combo

With this one, you usually kill your target, is not hard and is very good when you need to help one of your ally.

You can also start hitting your enemy without Vanish just with Aimed Strike, then follow him with Vanish or Assassinate.

You can start chasing far targets with your Decoy blocking them and making the Standard Combo or just Aimed Strike and then follow him with Vanish or Assassinate, I recommend if your opponent has ally near, use Vanish, but you can also use your ultimate and then run away with Vanish, try to do not go typical and predictable ways when you go invisible.

Playstyle

Here we will talk about teamwork with Loki and the different sections on a game, explaining them.

Teamwork

Loki is an assassin, in teamfights, the worst thing you can do is go and initiate the fight, NO, that is a mistake, first of all, at the beguining of a temafight, you need to wait until your team starts the fight, and then, you have 2 options to do while the fight is going. First of all, wait until weak gods, kill them, and then run, after all, you do not want 4 gods following you, that is the typical Loki, killing the weakest gods . Also, what you can do, is, when your fight starts the fight, go right behind your enemy or try to gank him, and get down fast the healer, or the priority enemy, as Loki, do that should not be a problem, if it is a good healer like Hel, remember, you should get Brawler's Beat Stick, and the heals will not be a problem, after kill someone you should desengage just if they chase you, if not, keep going for them. Remember this, never focus the tank, it is a trap!

Early game

Early game Loki focus on farm the Heartseeker, being the mid laner or solo laner, if you are jungling, please pay attention to lanes, do not be in the jungle all the time. When you are farming on a lane, you should always look for an oportunity to kill the enemy god on the line, you want to harras him all you can, this way, they will not be a problem for you, if you are jungling, focus on killing fast the camps (specially mid and buffs camps) and helping the lanes, never forget about that.

Mid game

In case you are the mid laner, at this point of the game you should destroyed the tower and rotate all the time, specially to the solo laner, probably, he will still pushing his lane to destroy the tower. When you arrive this point as solo laner, you will be pushing your lane, if not, you should be rotating all the time. If you are going to rotate and gank someone, remember to use Vanish and then, when you are near you enemy use Aimed Strike, you can also start with Assassinate if your ally needs help. At this point of the game, you can also kill a squishy mage easily, so do not worry about that, but if the situation is not good enough for do that, do not chase.

Late game

Here is when you can kill someone with your eyes closed, your build is completed and the teams are usually going for Gold Fury or Fire Giant, so you should buy wards and put them there, even if you are not the support, everyone of the team should buy and use wards. If you do not have wards, and can not see the enemy on the map, run to the Fire Giant or Gold Fury, usually if they are not there, they would be on the lanes, thing that means you would see them with the minions there. In case they are taking Fire Giant, you have 2 options, sneak inside with Vanish and try to get the last hit, this will work just if they do not have Wrath of the Gods, thing that would be very strange on Ranked Games, and your another possibility, is, stun the enemy (usually the support) using Assassinate and then Wrath of the Gods, this should work if you have the correct timing, giving you free Fire Giant buff to you an your team, you can do the same with the Gold Fury.

Just wanted to tell you you could check out the name I thot about for Loki now that it's out since I thot of it here. Also, I could take that nice image of your map showing ganks and take out the white, give you appropriate code, and put the "key" or text on the side, outside the image. It'll look better but it's up to you.

I'm more or less new to smite, and for me this guide is awesome. The "Loki against..." part is also helpful with other gods.

Big Thanks for all that typing. Its insane

You Rock! and then you rock again :0

Very good guide, I like the composition, the builds items and how you did it, also the Item Explanation section and God Explanation section are very good, you can see you worked it a lot, I hope you keep updating it all the time.

For me, it's an upvote

DARKcreator10 | July 20, 2014 1:29am
Yes, it is an upvote xD. I really think Hydras should be on the main build but well, it is true that the burst damage that Loki has is a lot already without that item, but well, even more burst damage is pretty good. When I build Loki I do not buy HS and ge Hydras, HS is too risky, you can spend the gold on a good item and have the 50 stacks, or just buy it and do not build the stacks because you do not farm enough or die a lot vs your counter.

^ xD now it looks like an upvoten no? XD

Seems like everyone looks Fatalis and Qins as core items, but I have them on SITUATIONAL ITEMS, maybe Qin is not good even in situational, but maybe someday you need Fatalis, you do not know.

Jotuns is on the core, on all the builds, I dont see why you say it is not on core, about the Malice maybe you have the reason, if you do not like Malice, you must replace it with Hydras, or replace HS if you can not get the stacks correctly for Hydras, after all, HS without 50 stacks is not useful.

Thanks for your comment, I will check the items once again and see how can I change them, but I wont put Hydras on the core, after all, with those items your burst should be more than enough to take down enemies with 1 or 2 hits, and the CDR well, a lil bit less CDR but it is ok. I hope you change your vote for upvote someday. Thanks for all the contribution until now guys, thanks for make this guide grow up. :)

Also, I will fix the starting items for jungle when I see what can I do, right now I can not connect, too busy, but soon I will fix it and add Warriors and Hunters to ''Loki Against..'' section

Not voting up or down as the items needed are listed just not quite properly. Hydras is core. Jotuns is Core. Malice would be situational only if pen wasnt needed. Id never get Qins or Fatalis. Other than that I enjoyed the guide!

Maybe I would add Hydra's Lament to the Main Build, it is a perfect item for Loki, for example taking out Heartseeker when you finish Deathbringer and put it, anyway, it should be in the main.

Maybe some columns like Greenevers said but it is ok the BBcode like it is now, the rest is pretty good. Item explanation and skill explanation is good, I liked it. And the last thing, you should change the starting items for jungle, after all, now physical damage increased potion now is for 450g. Nice guide, liked it. Wanted to comment on this guide because I play a lot Loki and some tips helped me

For me:

It's definitely looking better information wise. It can use a bit of cleaning with BB Coding and organization, but that's fine. I'll change it to an upvote so you can improve in the future! I suggest you use columns to help you out with some layouts and stuff. PM me if you need any help

Hi Greenevers, thanks for your comment! :)

I'm agree with your opinion about Hastened Fatalis, I don't use that item a lot, but sometimes you can have problems reaching your enemies, even with Vanish and AImed Strike.

About the lifesteal items, I said on the item explanation that they are totally optionals, I use them on Loki because I like lifesteal, but what you say is true, if you feel lifesteal is not with you and Loki just take out it, and put Jotunn's Wrath or Hydra's Lament, they both are very good items for Loki, but I will fix it anyways. Same with the defensive items, didn't think about Magi's Blessing, after all, it's true Loki has problems with CC, and that item will help a lot, so right now I'm changing it.

About Joust, it's true sometimes you max Decoy first of all, but I like to harras my enemy all the time, and that's why I max Aimed Strike, sometimes with gods like Ao Kuang and Poseidon I max Decoy first, after all, they can kill the minions in 2 seconds, giving me a really bad game.

I will fix all that, and I will add teamwork section and ways to counter Loki's enemies. Thanks for your contribution, I hope your vote change with the changes I will add now, thanks again.
