Introduction

To speak of Kali is to speak of the beginning of time itself.

Across the majestic lands of Hindustan rose an army of demons that conquered the countryside and slaughtered the people. Yet, when the Gods themselves were defeated, Devi, the supreme Goddess, emerged to throw back this host and protect the faithful.

Three forms she took during these ancient times. The first, Durga, the Mother of Creation, was as radiant as she was fearsome. Astride her tiger, she scattered the demon horde until she encountered the horrendous Raktabija. For each wound she gave the demon, his cursed blood created a copy, quickly resulting in an unstoppable army of Raktabija clones. Rage boiled at the corners of Durga’s mind, in the quest to slaughter and destroy evil. From the forehead of Durga sprung her wrathful form, with skin darkened and eyes glowing a menacing red.

Thus was Kali, the Black One, Goddess of Time and Destruction, the second form of Devi born.

Rarely has Kali been seen since, kept in the shadows of Devi’s mind, but when the tides of battle shift and evil looms large, there is no solution but unrestrained destruction of evil, and Kali once again, walks the Earth.

  • Can be bursted easily if Ult is down

Items

BOOTS

Pretty simple, needs no explanation

Magi's blessing

DEFENSE

It's good to start off with some defense because of how squishy she is early game.

KEEP UP

Since Kali's kit only comes with one chasing ability (usually used to jump in and destroy or jump out of predicaments) this will keep the enemy in your reach.

MORE DEFENSE

This is where Kali will start to get annoying, you can't kill her, better yet, you can't kill them. At this point Kali will be hard to kill but the damage begins to stop.

SHRED

Right now you are an indestructible, killing machine. Nobody can stop you unless ganged up on.

RELICS

These are used for whenever you need more of something. So Frenzy gives you more damage, curse helps you catch up, and etc.

Skills

MARKED FOR DEATH
A random Enemy god is selected as Kali's Death Mark. Kali gains a Physical Penetration bonus against that god, and Heals 80% of her Max Health for killing the god or 15% for earning an Assist. Gold Bounty from that god is increased by 30% for a Kill or Assist. A new Death Mark is selected any time her current target dies. If Kali dies it is set to whichever god last hit her.

This passive (to me) is one of the strongest passives in the game. You get 80% health and a gold bonus upon last hitting/killing the enemy that you have targeted. You also get extra penetration on your target, leveling up gives adds 1% from it's base start of 10%.

NIMBLE STRIKE
Kali leaps forward, damaging enemies in the target area and healing herself for a percent of their missing Health.

This skill is usually for hopping in and and destroying at late game. Early game, you use this skill to hope away from danger and get some healing done at jungle camps.

LASH
Kali throws several blades, that converge upon the target location. Each does damage and causes bleed. Kali gains Physical Lifesteal against targets affected by this Bleed.

This is your only true damage skill, use this skill to clear lane early game and don't forget that whatever enemy hit with Lash gives a percentage of lifesteal when hit with a basic attack.

INCENSE
Kali hurls her incense at her feet, exploding it. Enemies hit are Stunned, while Kali gains a Physical Power bonus.

This is your CC skill, use Incense to stun enemies and Lash them at close distance, landing all three hits. This skill also gives a power buff when used.

DESTRUCTION
Kali becomes an unstoppable force of destruction, creating a damage aura around her. During this time, she can be reduced to 1 Health, but cannot die. She is Immune to Knockup, Slow effects, and protected from Root, but still vulnerable to Stuns. If Kali is under 15% of her total Health at the end of the duration, she will heal to 15% Health.

This is your Ultimate, use this skill to basically destroy your target/enemies or escape. When activated a damage aura surrounds you, you are immune to Knockups, Slows, and Roots, but you are not immune to Stuns.

Beginning of The Jungle

BEHOLD THE ALMIGHTY JUNGLE BEFORE YE

*Yes, this is the S2 map layout but they're almost the same and I can't find an HQ picture of the current version*

Speed Buff Camp and Mana Buff Camp
You first start off at the Speed Buff Camp with the Solo laner since the speed buff allows you to go to camps/lanes faster and it's closer to the Solo laner's lane. After you and the Solo laner finish the Speed Buff camp head to the Mana Buff camp so the Solo laner can get more experience and have more sustain in lane. After finishing the Mana Buff camp go to Solo lane.

Solo Lane Clear to Elementals
Right now it's a competition to see which pair can clear lane first (or effectively), if you and your Solo laner clear lane first rush over to the Elementals located in front of the Fire Giant. If you're lucky you can clear them with ease and move to Mid Harpies, but if the enemy finishes shortly after y'all make sure that you can secure all three Elementals. If the enemy team clears the lane before you can help the Solo laner clear and try to see if you can take an Elemental or two. If both of you finish at the same time try to push them away by being very aggressive on their side of the map (be careful for Mid) or rush down the Elementals with the help of your Mid (If they're waiting on creeps).

Mid Harpies and Mid Lane Clear
If you were lucky to get all Elementals you have a pretty good chance to get Mid Harpies as well. If you finish Elementals quickly get your Solo laner and Mid Laner to get the Harpies near the Elementals, after that the Solo laner will go back to their lane. Make sure you pull Mid Harpies closer to your tower so the enemy has to push up closer and putting them in a bad situation (Solo lane can rotate and gank from behind), but if you finished Elementals first it's almost guaranteed to get one Mid Harpies camp.

When you and the Mid laner finish one Mid Harpies camp go back to lane to clear the incoming wave. Don't be afraid to get up close because your job as a Jungler is to get help lanes get kills early and snowball Mid-Late game. If you have enough health to contest the other Mid Harpies camp then go ahead and start pulling them closer to the tower. If the enemy team finishes first try to aggress on the camp and steal one or two (if dying is not an outcome).

Back Camps and Roaming The Jungle
When the other Mid Harpies camp is finished go back to lane and try to push far enough where you can do a back camp or two. Back camps come up way more frequently then Mid Harpies so always keep that in mind.

Now all buffs and camps should be down. This allows you to take time and gank, push lanes, ward, and steal the enemies camps. Ganking takes communication with your teammates so don't be afraid to use the VGS system! Pushing lanes help allies push towers easily and can even make the enemy laner lose gold, allowing your laner to finish their build and get online sooner. Warding in the right spot can be hard but it's a lot simpler than some people think. If you study where the enemy likes to gank or hide then that's one of the best places to ward, and don't forget to ward the Fire Giant and Gold Fury! Don't allow the enemy to get any camps without putting up a fight. Stealing buff camps can be risky but it put's the enemy at a disadvantage, they can't have higher damage output, lane sustain, quicker rotations, and experience and gold.

Queen Of The Arena Build

This is my usual go to build for Arena. Since crits have been nerfed quite hard in S3 you can also do The Executioner and Qin's Sais at the end, I just find crits more damaging in arena because most gods won't build defensive items, and if they do then Ichaival should go through it with no problem. Early in the game you can buy Ichaival second because it makes Kali able to box well, but when late game comes ahead replace it for The Executioner.

Physical Mage Build

This is a really weird build and I don't recommend it unless you are skilled with Kali. This build just makes her a physical mage and let's her use Destruction and Lash more often. Destruction will have a cooldown of about a minute so you should have it up for any battle. This build does relatively good in the Mid lane and in Clash, I haven't tried it in joust but I think I'd do good there, too.

N-A-S-T-Y Build

I was messing around with some of Kali's core items and decided to add them all together and to be honest, it is extremely NASTY. Build Ichaival second then when you get into mid/late game sell it for The Executioner. You get attack speed, some pen, great damage, and crazy crits. This build is disgusting and no one stands a chance against you. If you use this build, I wish the enemy luck.

Blink Of An Eye Build

This build does really good against hunters with no escapes, mages with no CC, and guardians with no escapes. This build maxes out attack speed meaning Qin's Sais will proc faster and Odysseus' Bow will proc quicker, too. The build gives decent penetration, but if you lack the ability to kill some guardians pick up The Executioner to penetrate through their defenses. Ichaival is a better pick early game to me because most of the enemy gods will try to out box you if you get close enough to them and Ichaival shuts off most of their damage and gives more to you. When late game comes around switch it out for Titan's Bane to go through/take protections/towers more easily. If you feel dissatisfied with Bloodforge then pick up Stone Cutting Sword instead.

Summary

There are probably going to be a lot of flaws in this guide but I really wanted to post this because I could find no guides that made Kali a viable solo or well defended jungler. I'd like to hear what you have to say in the comments.

Not a bad setupbut i think lifesteal is so much better on kali.

The standard build (#7) has Asi and I don't think it's always the best because since her damage numbers are so low she doesn't get that much lifesteal, plus she already has some built in with her kit.

You need to add a skill build rotation, new players like me have no idea which skills to level up first and in which order.

Thank You!

On the different builds? I usually always use the one that is setup in the main build but I can add that one to others and even adjust it situationally. But I can gladly do that for you!

Sorry about that, I just changed the sequence the way I would build Nemesis because they both focus the same skills that need built, max out 2, then 3, then 1, and then 4.

Bruiser Kali is a neat idea, i like it, but only for Mid.
In your blink of an eye build (You kinda should change it to the main build as it's the one that currently benefits Kali the most) you need to sell Ichaival later on for odysseus's bow, having them both in the same build is kinda overkill ( Ichaival is an early game item) And bring Stone Cutting Sword into the build.

Otherwise, great guide!

I do need to add the Stone Cutting Sword in the builds. I almost always replace it with Ichaival late game because it does good with her. Thanks for pointing that out!
