Introduction

Hey everyone! I'm OMGASIA, casual Smite addict. While I know how to enjoy all casual game modes, I mostly play Joust and Arena. I noticed there aren't many Nox guides up, and decided to share with you how I play her. This isn't meant to be a definitive end all be all on Nox. This is the way I've enjoyed playing her and possibly others will enjoy as well!

This is my first guide, so I'm not expecting it to be amazing just yet. I am, however, willing to work on it so it gets there! As I continue to learn and play her after her changes I'll update this with improvements. I'm also willing to expand this guide further with any suggestions.

The patch brought some changes to . If you didn't play her before came out you can skip this section. Her kit feels the same, but her passive and every ability was altered in some way. went from being extremely underwhelming to very powerful. I personally wouldn't be surprised if she got hit with the nerfhammer a bit, but let's enjoy it while it lasts, kay?

Old:

Nox’s candles gather energy from all abilities used near her. For every ability cast near Nox (excluding her own) a new candle is lit. Once all 4 are lit, Nox's next casted ability costs no mana.

New:

Nox's candles gather energy from all abilities she uses. For every ability Nox casts a candle is lit. For every candle lit Nox gains 4% damage mitigation. When Nox takes damage from an enemy god one of her candles are blown out.

How Is This Different?

Old:

Nox creates a barrier of night around herself for 1s that mitigates 50/60/70/80/90% damage from the next hostile ability that hits her. Basic attacks are also mitigated for the entire duration that the shield is up. Nox cleanses roots and slows while this ability is active.
Damage Mitigation: 50/60/70/80/90%
Duration: 1s
Cooldown: 18s
Cost: 70

New:

Nox creates a barrier of night around herself that mitigates damage from the next hostile ability that hits her. Basic attacks are also mitigated for the entire duration that the shield is up. Nox is immune to knockups, roots, and slows while this ability is active.
Damage Mitigation: 80% (Patch notes say 90, in game says 80.)
Duration: 2s
Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14s
Cost: 70

How Is This Different?

Old:

Nox launches a raven that spreads night along its path. Every enemy it touches takes damage, is silenced, and is Shrouded in Darkness. The Shroud of Darkness lasts for 5s.
Damage: 70/140/190/240/290 (+70% of your magic power)
Silence: 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4s
Cooldown: 15s
Cost: 70/75/80/85/90

New:

Nox launches a raven that spreads night along its path. Every enemy it touches takes damage, is silenced, and is Shrouded in Darkness. The Shroud of darkness lasts for 5s.
Damage: 70/120/170/220/270(+70% of your magic power)
Silence: 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2s
Cooldown: 15s
Cost: 70/75/80/85/90

How Is This Different?

Old:

Nox targets the ground and attempts to consume all darkness in that area. Enemies who are standing in the target area take damage. If a target is Shrouded In Darkness then it takes an additional +50% of the damage as bonus damage.
Damage: 90/120/150/180/210 (+60% of your magic power)
Cooldown: 3s
Range: 55
Projectile Speed: 110
Cost: 50/55/60/65/70

New:

Nox targets the ground and attempts to consume all darkness in that area. Enemies who are standing in the target area take damage. If a target is Shrouded In Darkness then it takes an additional +50% of the damage as bonus damage.
Damage: 90/110/130/150/170 (+60% of your magic power)
Cooldown: 3s
Range: 70
Projectile Speed: 160
Cost: 50

How Is This Different?

Old:

Nox links her shadow with an enemy player, dealing damage. While linked with Nox, enemies take damage again every time they use an ability. Nox’s ability cooldowns are also reduced by 5s every time an enemy uses an ability while linked. The link is broken by moving out of range, or after 5s.
Damage: 150/160/170/180/190 (+75% of your magic power)(Also dealt each time the enemy casts an ability while linked.)
Cooldown: 90s
Cost: 100

New:

Nox launches her shadow forward hitting up to 3 enemy gods, dealing damage and shrouding them in darkness. While under the effect of Night Terror, enemies take damage again every time they use an ability and Nox's ability cooldowns are reduced by 5s. After the terror expires, enemies will take additional damage and are stunned for 1s.
Damage: 150/160/170/180/190 (+75% of your magic power)(Also dealt each time the enemy casts an ability while linked.)
Cooldown: 90s
Cost: 100

What Does This Mean For You?

Pros / Cons

Pros:

High single target damage
Silence
Can keep low health gods from using abilities, theoretically shutting them out of the fight for a few seconds.
Has a sexy voice

Cons:

Low mobility
Very squishy
Can't effectively shut basic attack gods out of the fight.
Jiggle Taunt (though this can be argued as a pro)

SWC2015 Pro Play

Day two of the first Smite World Championships (1/10/15) had Nox's pro play debut. Played first by PrettyPriMe of Titan, and second by MLCst3alth of COG Prime, Nox was brought into the competitive spotlight. I believe this will lead to a huge surge in Nox play now that people see she can be more than viable.
