This is a no-nonsense guide with no screen shots or colorful text, so if you think that's going to help you absorb the essential information about a god, this isn't the guide for you. With that said, all the essential information about Freya is here in this guide. This was my first guide and has been edited quite a few times since I put it up. This guide is for players who intend to lane outside, as I think that is really the only place Freya should be.
As we all know, Freya has two main (non-ult) damaging abilities: Irradiate and Pulse. When these two abilities are used together you get HUGE ranged damage. You do, however, lose the slow that Pulse normally applies, so don't go spamming both abilities until you have the target in your grasp.
As you can see in the video here, I don't activate Irradiate until Xbal is fully committed (maybe a little late), but you see that the magical damage goes from about 50 to 150 per attack.
Freya needs support in the early game, so don't try to lane with anything other than tanks or support, or you're going to be in trouble against any decent team. In short, if you're in character selection and you don't see anyone for you there. Choose another god.
With that said, Freya can be very effective in a lane, even in the early game, with the right partner. Her Banish is great for setting up ganks and particularly useful when timed well with Ymir's ult, as seen here.
Pulse will help you farm and limit poking and harassment.
As you can see, I've placed a lot of emphasis on attack speed with Freya. Why? Freya's two main sources of DPS are duration based buffs to her auto attacks. If there is an item in this game that is ideal for one god, it's Fatalis for Freya. Fatalis combined with Pulse has many applications, not least of which is preventing enemies from ever escaping. Freya will pretty much shred any god with a attack speed, AP and a little lifesteal.
I also like to take a little defense, and with Wall of Absolution and Void Stone you don't sacrifice much AP for it.
Ultimately, your items will be dependent upon your opponents, so leave room for improvisation.
The skill sequence here is rough. If you feel you need longer Banishes, for example, skill up Banish earlier. I really don't stick to one skill sequence with most gods, but Freya is pretty easy. Pulse and Valkyrie's Discretion should be skilled up early and often. The others should be felt out.
