Introduction

A Freya guide by: Gusher

Hello, and welcome to my Freya guide. Over the coming weeks I will be doing my best to cover a majority of the gods in SMITE to give you an updated version of my builds in use of the current meta. I feel that there are not currently enough theorycrafters out there. So I will do my best to give you a large selection of gods to learn from.

Also a side note I moderate for a wonderful streamer by the name of Desanya be sure to check her out and you can catch me on to ask any questions: http://www.twitch.tv/desanya

Pros / Cons

Pros

Hyper Carry
Great Duelist
Amazing catch potential
Great scale throughout each stage of the game

Cons

Squishy
Near useless without cooldowns
Highly punishable

Jungle Freya

Jungle Route
Begin with your solo lane to clear red or speed buff then to your solo lane's blue buff. (This varies depending on what side you are on, always start where your solo lane is).

Lane with your solo lane to level 4, this will give you the right amount of exp to give mid lane red or take your speed and be level 5.

Always contest mid harpies, start with right mid harpies then transition with your support and mid lane to left mid harpies.

When no lanes are gankable and no buffs are up to give, take back harpies.

Ganking

Always use Pulse before Irradiate

When ganking a lane it is important to know the position of your teammate(s).

Depending on how far away they are will play into what skill you lead with.

If your teammate(s) is not within a castable distance you may want to consider leading with Banish.

If your teammate(s) is near the enemy you will want to lead with Pulse, land the slow and pop Irradiate, if the enemy has escape be ready to use your Banish.

Duo Freya (Adc position)

CDR Boots Explained

First and foremost, you will build your Shoes of Focus boots first, before Hastened Fatalis, starting Ancient Blade will allow you not to be pushed on and make more use of your Pulse spell.

The reason you build Shoes of Focus in the duo lane is so you have Pulse up as frequent as possible. If you constantly go up to melee the minions you will find yourself being heavily poked and unable to trade. If you must do this try to land a Banish to sponge some of that damage you would have taken.

How to trade
Freya's kit offers a lot of control and kiting while maximizing damage output.

When trading, always land Pulse to slow your enemy and follow up with Irradiate for extra damage.

Use your Banish wisely, interrupt a channel spell, use it to escape.

When receiving a gank ask yourself a few questions:

1. Does my opponent have escape? If yes be ready to banish AFTER it is used.

2. Does my teammates ganking have a hard to hit skill shot and question one is false? If yes Banish right away, remember you can hit your banished target as they are falling before they are able to react.

If you have Hastened Fatalis you can still trade when Pulse is on CD, Banish your target to get into melee range safely. Pop Irradiate and you will stay within range to deal massive damage.

When using Freya's Ultimate, at full ascension you are untargetable and CC immune immediately. Use this to avoid being locked down and to finish kills.

Solo Freya

Freya Solo Overview

Solo lane has always been about playing the "Who can stay in lane longer" game.

As Freya your job in solo is not so much about sustaining and passively farming your lane as your typical solo laner would be.

Instead you should be looking to punish, wear, and tear your opponent as frequent as possible.

When against a mage be careful when melee'ing minions, always know your opponents position.

How to trade

Against Melee:

You do not have to use Pulse to farm unless you are pushed on. Instead look to kite and punish your lane opponent as often as possible with Pulse Irradiate combo.

Against Ranged:
Be aware of there range and location. It is possible to melee farm still but requires a lot of awareness. You will most likely find yourself needing to use Pulse to farm frequently.

Remember your banish, when receiving a gank ask yourself a few questions:

1. Does my opponent have escape? If yes be ready to Banish AFTER it is used.

2. Does my teammates ganking have a hard to hit skill shot and question one is false? If yes Banish right away, remember you can hit your banished target as they are falling before they are able to react.

Itemization Explained

Hastened Fatalis
This is Freya's core item that allows for great chase and kiting mechanics.

This needs to be picked up directly after boots.

Freya is not in high demand of damage items early game.

This allows for more slows and faster Pulse Irradiate combo's to pop off.

Shoes of the Magi
Non Duo lane Freya's will use this boot. After the full usage of Pulse/Irradiate your CD's come up in 6 seconds.

This will provide early game M.Pen and a small boost to Magic Power.

Demonic Grip
Pulse applies on hit effects, making this item highly effective.

It gives magic power + attack speed, top stats for Freya.

When used with Boots of the Magi and Spear of the Magus it gives your flat pen cap of 50.

Banecrofts Talon
While granting large magic power this is your main source of surviving.

With Freya's passive this grants a total of 27% Magical Lifesteal.

Rod of Tahuti

A key item to all mages, grants a large magnification to Magical Power.

Spear of the Magus
Pulse applies on hit effects, making this item highly effective.

When used with Boots of the Magi and Demonic Grip it gives your flat pen cap of 50.

Shoes of Focus

Duo lane only

This item is good for duo lane for its CDR effect, allowing your pulse to be up more often to duel effectively.

The mana also allows you to get more uses out of your spells and staying in lane longer.

Actives Explained

Hand of the Gods

Always pick this item up as Solo and Jungle.

Greater Sprint

As Duo always pick up this active.

As Solo and Jungle you will pick between this and Beads. If the enemy team has devastating hard cc take Beads over Sprint.

Greater Purification

As Duo always pick up this item.

As Solo and Jungle you will pick between this and Sprint. If the enemy team has little to no hard cc take Sprint over Beads.

Why no mid lane build?

In the current meta Freya is not mobile enough to roam as most of the current high tier mid laners. Also Freya does not bring enough objective control to mid harpies nor can Freya 100-0 mid harpies in a combo.

Tips and Tricks

  • Freya's Ultimate makes Freya CC immune immediately and at full ascension untargetable.

  • Freya and allies can target a banished target as they are falling, before they are able to use anything.

  • Use Pulse before Irradiate, Irradiate removes the slow effect of Pulse.

  • When using Pulse on towers, remember the splash effect is still present. The tower will aggro you if you splash an enemy.

Hey I love your build! It honestly made my freya all-around game much better ^.^ I would love it if you would expand on other possible items choices for a more flexible freya -if its possible, cause idk maybe these are the only items that will work for her- but, that is why I'm typing this, do you think that freya could carry the active meditation for ADC since in the new season of smite, the blue has been replaced with purple(attack speed), just a thought :3 or maybe book of thoth? idk tell me what you think I'm kinda a noob when it comes to item building. anyways great guide!

I had decided to do a new Freya build to maximize shredding everything. I made my build and thought about making a guide, because I'm nice like that. Someone already made the guide exactly the same as my build! Good job, this build will absolutely shred everything. You should also note that Obsidian Shard would be more effective than Spear on an enemy with +210 protections (which is so rare it doesn't matter) but I feel it should be mentioned anyways.
Also, I never built Poly on Freya just because there are much better items for her.

Bancrofts just flat out outclasses it now after the poly nerf.

This I can agree with

Poly is unreliable in the sense that if you miss the first auto the effect is no longer. This build maximizes your flat pen cap giving you the capability to tear through any opponent. Highly efficient I urge you to give it a closer look ^_^

I like that you added several builds, though I do dislike the COLORFUL sentences you did. It's equivalent to using a highlighter and just going over EVERY word. Use color more conservatively on words that matter. I do see you could do more BBcoding to make this guide more enjoyable for the eyes and more focus could be put on gameplay. Though I like the effort you put in this guide and wish you best of luck.

I agree entirely, currently I am trying to just mass produce guides for the viewers. I plan to go back in with BB code and I will refine my work greatly in the future. I appreciate the helpful response

Amazing guide! The ADC build Is almost the same one I use except I have obsidian shard instead of talon. However, I will be trying out all of these builds they look awesome. Keep up the good work! P.S. can you do a Scylla guide next? :D

Appreciate the feedback! Currently working on another requested guide. But I will add on Scylla for the next guide!
