Introduction

Hello again Smitefire, bout to move out in a few days but thought Id throw this together real quick before I left. Something I see often on kuang players is the use of pen boots and desolation. Persoanlly, I dont think these items are necessary, and make the build cost too much. Ill go into detail about why I prefer focus boots, and chronos pendant instead.

Skills

This is the ability you max 3rd. Its a simple invis/blink that you use for mobility, not damage. A neat thing about this ability is that it does go through odin walls, and if timed properly, can negate a loki ult. I once got caught stealing an enemy loki's blue buff, and right when he went to ult me, he ended up hitting my water illusion instead.

This is the ability you max 2nd. The reason you dont build fatalis is this. You invis to get up close to them, then you slow them for 30% with this ability while doing extra damage. This ability is designed around mid game rotations which is why we dont level it first.

This ability gets maxed 1st. Its Kuang's main form of camp clear, which is want you want to focus on farming to be ahead lat game.

This ability gets one rank at level 5 for the execute, then ignored until level 17. The damage isnt why you use this ability, so theres no point in leveling it for the damage when all you use it for is the execute.

Items

You will be 2 shotting enemies late game anyway, so the extra power pen boots gives you is nothing. These boots are cheaper, help take care of kuangs early game mana problem, and takes 9s off of your ult.

I dont rush poly because you dont have any power yet to make use of its passive. It can wait until item 3. Soul Reaver gives true damage, mana, and 100 power which is good all game long.

More power, mana, and a passive that prots off his 3. This is the point of the game where you come online and can gank lanes with ease.

Standard pen item for getting close to true damage, as well as destroying towers.

Highest damage item for a mage to pick up.

Again, this point in the game you 2 shot everything, so utility is more important than damage, this ability takes 18 sec off your ult.

Items NOT to build on Kuang

Too expensive for what it does, overkill on power, not as much utility as chronos pendant.

Item falls off late, and youre a late game assassin. The fact that you can press 3 and 2 and kill anybody makes auto attacks less important.

Does absolutely nothing about your mana issue, and is an early game boxing item. Again, Ao Kuang is a late game assassin.

More expensive, overkill damage, no mana, and less utility than focus boots.

Summary

As usualy if you have any questions, feel free to ask. It may take me a bit to get to them though as Ill be busy the next week or so.

Just an opinion, but if you max dragon call first you will secure far more kills early game allowing you to get a level advantage. Also, I personally think fatalistic is necessary for getting in quick while their team is grouped up, and ulting someone... also, his 3Rd ability stacks damage with his 2, making it better for camp clear... if dragon call is brought to lvl.4, your three will do more damage than if it was maxed. Also, I would recommend telkhines ring/demonic grip somewhere in thus build, they are very good for Ao Kuang... Good build and decent guide overall!

I like to build blink on ao kuang. Thats how I initiate and tower dive ult at level 5.

I dont like telkihines because even though its a good second item. Late game, you will 3 shot people but still have dragons left over. Id just prefer to 2 shot them instead and not worry about dragons at all.

I will take your advice and max his 2 a little sooner though. Only mastery 3 so dont have the most experience with him yet, just did some testing in jg practice is all.
